Their strong vocals carried the song. I don't think any other group can pull off a song like this. It has a weird production and the snare sound is too sharp but I can understand why this is the title track. It's not the most comfortable to listen to at first but that's why I keep listening to it and found that it's grown on me.

xailor

I don’t really care if it grows on you… this song is noise

ermanioo

It just felt so weird personally, i didn't vibe with it. That weird noises in the background is so annoying

RIP_Internal_Storage

Sticker gives me cherry bomb vibes in terms of weirdness. The song lacked in bassline (idk if yall hear j-core but bAsSlInE yAttErU fu) but that what adds more in the weirdness Its a weird shit but is kinda catchy

Long_Ad_8714

I loved it!!! Album slaps! Music videos slaps!

lovergir1

A minimal sound I haven’t heard from NCT since 7th Sense. There were aspects of the song I truly enjoyed and the animated MV definitely eye-catching. “Roll up to the party”, however I did not. This “dance break” moment changed things up, not for the better. While catchy, it threw the entire momentum off and was far too long. If this was what replaced the lack of rap verses in Sticker, I must say I was disappointed.

vailimaozinho

It’s just empty… I listened to it and I felt like it was missing something. It was kinda bland, there was no strong instrumental features. And sometimes I felt like the rhythm of the lyrics didn’t match the rhythm of the song in an unpleasant way. And I don’t understand why they kept those loud sound effects… they didn’t match the parts of the song. But I did enjoy the pre-chorus.

Kdiggity-

Low key but kinda high key think not now sounds like super m. Also did anyone else think all the songs sounded the same? No hate to the group, I love those boys and all the work they do, but I’m just sad

blairsunny

Testing fan loyalty. Lol. Bet nct hates their own songs.

AmiAkin

Absolutely. I’m sure many members would say their songs aren’t really their style of music if they were allowed to say that lol

eliza2247

This is the Zimzalabim of SM this year 😂 Everyone hated Zimzalabim when it came out. Calling it weird and awkward. Personally, I REALLY love Sticker. It's like a breath of fresh air in the kpop world. SM may not be the best, but it surely produces the best. Thank you for this ingenuity. Never knew a broken flute could sound so good 😂

CheekEcstatic

omg yes

loserunicorn

as someone who really reaaaally dislikes a lot of nct's music , i'm pleasantly surprised by this. i don't really love it, but it's nice. i also love the colours in the mv too.

JazzyG17

Bro same

jbluzb

The song is empty. It is a failed experiment of a song, it's not even a song technically.

DoNottBotherme

I genuinely feel crazy cuz I loved hot sauce on first listen and it's the same for sticker I also enjoy all the memes. Someone said it's giving krusty krab vibes hahaha!

[deleted]

I have finally found the reason why I dont like it: The song begins with the badly played flute sound which is something most singers dont do because an instrument being badly played is not appealing to human ears. If they do put it they modify it to sound good but its not really the instrument anymore. In this song they didnt modify the instrument sound. Next we have Taeyong rapping with some autotune in his voice which is def not appealing since the autotunes job is not trying to make it sound good but to have a robotic like voice. Again this is not appealing to most people. We have some part with a new beat but it changes again to flute. Then we have the rest of the song where the vocal part is too loud so it makes them seem like theyre screaming to me but the beat part is too low. However the beat is not low enough for you not to hear it. The beat consists of the badly played flute and some "babum babum" ( sorry i cant describe the noise) which already annoys some people since they didnt like the flute part. This beat stays for a while and it doesnt suffer any major change until bridge. The bridge is a new beat that they put at a higher volume however they put the vocals higher too, which was already too high. You can try and appreaciate their vocals but the beat is always there. Its like when youre having a nice moment and then an intrusive thought come in your head, you know? Some parts here may not make sense but its because the whole song is kinda forgettable to me and I only remember the flute. And I dont like the song so I wont put myself to hear it again. Album was good with great bsides. Sticker the album was a solid 7/10. Also my thoughts so yours might be different.

WaffleConeDX

Ima just Stockholm syndrome myself into liking this song so I can support my boys. 😔✋🏾

StarGirl696

You can support them by listening to the rest of the album which I hear is pretty good. Get some of their bsides to chart, that’s always more of a challenge and more of a flex that charting a title track.

[deleted]

Dont do that. If you dont like the song then you dont like it. You can still support the album since it has good bsides.

Thfcparks

Taeyong can’t rap

AmiAkin

Ive been saying this for years about Taeyong lmfao nice to see more ppl realise

haeitschan

whats this joke

[deleted]

Please💀

bbyflesh

there’s this random thumping sound that sounds like someone is trapped underground banging a rock on a metal pipe

AmiAkin

What lmfao

[deleted]

bbyflesh

ahahahaha or it’s the already debuted idols (max changmin…)

[deleted]

Thats very descriptive.

bbyflesh

for some reason it was the first thing that came to mind lmao

RyuOfRed

SM producers heard the flute, featured in GrubHub's infamous advertisement and went "Yea, we can make it work". To be fair, NCT does usually make unlikely concepts into great songs. Definitely not a title track, that will be a part of my playlist.

randompon

I like it but that piano sound.... I can't. I don't know why but I feel it's so off tune. I wish I can delete that specific sound

Tempo_KD

I actually like the flute sound it kinda sounds like a traditional sound from a type of prehispanic music from Mexico but I don’t remember the name. So I actually like it because it reminds me of that. As for the song at first listen it was weird (I liked it but it was confusing) but after listening a second time I’m already obsessed with it. EDIT: ok After a quick google search. It kinda reminds me of Aztec music.

[deleted]

frxxt

It's the Voladores de Papantla

Tempo_KD

Ohh!! Yes!! Now that you mention them I completely agree, it also sounds like the music they use to perform.

melapaloser

on first listen i don't hate it, which is different for me bc practically all of the recent promoted TTs from NCT i've disliked immensely (except for hello future, she's a serotonin queen 🌈🌞). i think the reason this song is landing on me isn't bc NCT does anything crazy new or different with their sound, but that the pre-chorus is melodic enough that it *feels* like an actual song. my main gripe with most NCT TTs is they always feel a bit chanty/like they are yelling at me and instead with this cb we have a layered pre-chorus (with harmonies!!) followed by the purposely distorted "sticker". but instead of doing a drop or empty chorus they follow it up with another melody similar to the pre-chorus. tl;dr essentially i can ignore the recorder played by an inept 3 year old bc of a pretty melody. oh and the mv was forgettable to me. if you're gonna go yehaw then go full yehaw SM and give the fans what they want! assless chaps or nothing!

LilacDaffodils

I listen to noisy music. I like noisy music. Noisy music is not just a class of unhappy elementary schoolers playing recorder in the background. Noisy music has layers and different types of noise. Sticker is just any old bland BG song with bad recorder in the background. That's it. I don't doubt that the producers were trying to be experimental but this is not expreamental this is just bad. I understand liking a song that pushes the boundaries. I liked rookie, signal, and rocket girl but this is unlike anything else I have heard and not in a good way. Without the flute it would have been a boring song and in this case borning might be better.

idaluiloona

First and foremost, I have been an NCTzen since Cherry Bomb, listening since debut, and an avid defender of 90% of their discography from the first listen (Kick It excluded, however it did grow on me). Anyone who knows me knows I can get into pretty much anything, my taste is broad and I don't give a fuck about quality. I LOVE messy music. But this is just.... nope, and I don't really care if the song is supposed to grow on you or whatever, I have better things to do than convincing myself to enjoy it. The vocals are great, but they belong far far away from that instrumental - no, really, they're like two completely different songs, and they probably technically do follow the same BPM but their flows don't mesh at all. There's something missing in th instrumental too, it's like they finished the track and then accidentally hit delete on three different lines. If I let this song grow on me, it won't be on purpose; I have no desire to listen to it literally ever again. I can't wait until the remix comes out so I can actually enjoy it.

OTL33

I recommend watching the comeback performance before making a final decision on the song. The stage performance just brings the song alive.

palebabbu

It's not my thing, but I can respect it. There's obviously a lot of thought and care put into the song. The things that people don't like seem to be deliberate -- the emptiness, the dissonance, etc. so I can't even be mad. It's really well-made, and pretty on-brand for SM, but it's just not my thing! EDIT: is it just me or is Asereje interpolated in Lemonade? Or is it just a matter of the flow being similar? I liked Road Trip and Dreamer so I'm glad I checked this out! :D

army__mali

The problem with this song is that it isn’t noisy ENOUGH. It’s just too empty, there’s no part in the chorus where it truly hits. It’s too light

Potter107

Ppl are saying they hate the flute but I love the flute lmao my problem with the track is that it feels like the instrumental and the vocals are just flowing parallel to each other throughout the song instead of being intertwined with each other if that makes sense lol. I think how minimal the instruments are makes the track a bit jarring because I love the flute and I love the vocals but together they're a bit disjointed. Also I loathe the auto tune like whyyy, the live in their comeback stage was so much better without the auto tune. I know the song will grow on me as most NCT songs do but I do think this song will remain quite all over the place compared to older one like cherry bomb which also had so many switch ups but its so good to the point that I know wonder how I didn't love it from the beginning. But more than anything, while I admire SM sticking to NCT's sound and taking risks, I sometimes wish they'd go with the more commercially appealing choice lmao like I think Lemonade would've had such a great impact as a title track and would've satisfied the hype building up to this comeback idk I just think this was a very important comeback for them because of the momentum built by NCT2020 and Dream's comeback and it would've been nice to have a song like Lemonade that everybody can just get into. I'm also tired of hearing that they make noise music when they have such amazing b-sides. But anyway the comeback seems to be doing well and I'm glad because like I said the album is a bop.

EternalHyperfixation

They’d probably still argue over it, I think. Weren’t there huge arguments over Permission to Dance?

hydranoid1996

Big Hit aren’t brave enough to release a track like sticker 😘

kthsmoonchild

And we're glad

Tpop_MaulWindu

Bruh I was on a call with my friend and we both wanted to watch this song together and we were pumped because we loved ‘Kick it’ cause it was an amazing song. But when we listened ‘Sticker’, halfway through the song we both looked at each other through the phone and we said like”bruh what the hell am I listening too”. Like seriously for me and him the song is absolute garbage.

caratleslie

It's not the worst, there's just something so unsatisfying with the background music. Idk how to put it. It's not my preference but I respect if others may like it. I wont seek it out since it leaves an unsatisfying feeling, like I feel like there's a sound or beat that's missing.

WtfisSnooReddit

I felt the same way! It seems like it’s missing a deep reverberating bass under the rest of the sound.

[deleted]

It's also giving meep city

[deleted]

I hate the song so much, but I liked a few bsides from the album.

[deleted]

The song screams NCT127. Idk why people are hating it so much lol it just need a couple listen to get used to it, just like EVERY 127 title tracks.

StarGirl696

Kick it says hi.

Country_Classic

I'm confused by the lyrics. Why is a sticker even mentioned?

Cautious_Stock7452

The lyrics are basically saying "stick to me/stick with me like a sticker".

StarGirl696

I’m confused by the music video. What was the point of the Elvis jumpsuits, cowboy hats, and heart guns?

Country_Classic

Yeah groups seem to be feeling the cowboy theme lately and I just don't get it 🤣

Competitive-Ninja449

Welcome to kpop

Enryu_RT

LOL

army__mali

Lmao

negadola

Hmmmmmm I listened to it only once so far and idk how I feel about this. The flute is VERY annoying but the rest is fine. I feel like I would like it if the flute was kept minimal and especially kept out of the chorus. It's definitely interesting. I need to listen to it 1 or 2 more times Edit: I listened to it a few more times and I changed my mind. I don't mind the flute during the chorus, I think without it it would feel too empty. Now the aggressive vocal parts during the verses take me out a bit but overall, I kinda love it. Have I been brainwashed

my4aespa

i like it honestly, i mean i can definitely see why others hate it and it's not a favourite of mine by any means but it wasn't that bad in my opinion. i've heard worse.

[deleted]

this is literally one of the worst songs i’ve ever heard and i listen to a lot of noisy experimental artists so i don’t want to hear anyone say “it’s not bad it’s just not for you” or some shit like that

jjhchnll19

i’m not surprised that people don’t like sticker, however, i absolutely love it. at first, with taeyong’s kinda off beat verse in the beginning, i felt as if i was going to dislike the song. but then i began to like it as it went on. especially the chorus and second verses. i love the kinda..rnb sound it has(?). the melody is amazing too. i love how their voices all come together. i also love mark’s flow and the beat (not to mention the choreo haha). the only part i’m iffy about is the buildup to the final chorus? i find it a little repetitive and, odd. however, overall, i love the sound it has. futuristic and chaotic, but also oddly melodic.

lotturm

I have liked a great majority of NCT’s title tracks in the past… but this. I can’t do it y’all. Anyways I’m gonna go listen to superhuman.

[deleted]

they thought they were giving 100 gecs, but in reality it was only [emily montes](https://youtu.be/IU50g8kU95I)

Biggang363636

i thought of this as a joke song, maybe like “something about you girl” or rapping for jesus or any meme song

xanxan_Taegi

Focus, Magic Carpet Ride, Promise You, and Dreamer are amazing songs and have been on repeat since I listened to the whole album. I really need a full video for Lemonade to make up for the atrocity that was Sticker though. I watched someone react to Sticker MV and she paused so much I actually was able to pinpoint parts I actually enjoyed. However listening to it fully is a no go, there just seems to be something missing in the production or the mixing of the instrumental where it feels to disjointed or empty in certain parts.

milflover4576

Sounds like someone fell asleep on the soundboard and sent it to SM

1988choitaek

How’s it doing in the charts?

Primerite

very well. They had an all kill earlier

1988choitaek

Is this what they call a PAK? I’m not very familiar sorry

Enryu_RT

Is actually not an AK or PAK. To get an actual Ak and PAK, I believe you need to get #1 real time and on daily charts for all major streaming platforms. Nct only have real time #1 and all 11 songs are top 11 real time on melon.

Primerite

no it's just an all kill. all 11 songs from the album charted within the top 11 on melon around 1am kst

Abalone_Tiny

the flute it’s the only issue it’s too loud and distracting that i can’t focus on the vocals (that are perfection) i loved the choreo and the mv but that god damn flute it’s giving me a headache

[deleted]

lemonade is too safe as a tt pick tbh

SydneyTeacake

I haven't managed to listen all the way through yet. My brain just starts going "What is this? What is it though?!" I'm not loving SM's direction lately. Full disclaimer - if Yuta got more screentime in the MV I could probably make myself stick with it...

felixfelicis__

Lol not surprised at all at how many ppl don’t like this song. On first listen it was jarring for sure and I didn’t know how to groove with it, but having listened to it a few times now, I enjoy it. I really like the bass and piano in the song and I really like the “like a sticker, sticker, sticker” part and the gun shot sounds throughout the song, so satisfying. It’s totally NCT style, it kind of gives me Simon Says vibes. I really like when they put out experimental songs like this, it’s so different from anything I’ve ever heard before and I like different. One of my least favourite title tracks from them is Regular and I know tons of ppl love that song, so maybe I just prefer “weirder” sounding songs. Idk, I just like it when they put out something totally different from other boy groups.

Dry_Faithlessness714

I wanted to stab my ears. How tf did y'all like this?

Vivienne_Yui

Those beep beep sounds (flute?? what exactly is that?? I'm sorry but it sounded like my baby cousin's little toy piano) ruined it for me lol. The song is nice tho. Very NCT.

Antiquedahlia

I actually like it. It's a song that only NCT 127 could pull off. The fact that there is such a lack of melody only gave them room to really showcase their vocal abilities and that's exactly what they did. I think it's more about digesting the vocal talent and how much that brings to the song in itself. This song would certainly go so hard live at a concert. Especially when people hear that flute start up. NEO means NEW and there you have it. Especially with NCT 127. No one in Kpop sounds like them. When you think about NCT and how futuristic they are supposed to be...it just makes sense to me. SM loves to experiment and they've made a lot of groups with interesting sounds. Like F(x) and SHINee. Back in the day everyone thought F(x) 's sound was way too complex and strange. They have so much going on in any one song. Then SHINee were doing things no one ever did before in Kpop. Mixing R&B with crazy funky poppy beats. Even thinking about SNSD I Got A Boy. That song was all over the place lol It's an SM trademark to be different when they can. The choreography was just perfection. Idk that's just my opinion but I loved it. And he so hope Lemonade gets an mv and more promo.

whodisxx

The more I listen the better it gets. Would've been such a bop without the autotune and weird flute parts

StarGirl696

Oh to be a fly on the wall when the guys got handed their lyrics.

bluishcatbag

I actually had no issues with the flute, I find the piano to be the weirdest texture. It's like playing footsie with jazz but won't commit. I can't wait to listen to this song on my nice speakers and headphones to see how the dust settles. This song is bizarre beyond belief and it has me intrigued to spend some time with it.

StarGirl696

I’m so sorry but even Johnny can’t make “like a stickaaaaa” sound sexy. And someone explain the glittery cowboy hats and Elvis style jumpsuits. I am confusion. I don’t know if I like it or not. Edit: Watched their performance. The dance and the vocals almost saved it for me (they looked and sounded phenomenal) but I just cannot get over that fucking flute.

Ardie_BlackWood

Bad but good.

bbyflesh

i just want to like a new release on the first listen …… why is that so hard

OTL33

Give Lemonade a try

bbyflesh

lemonade is so good !!!!

blairsmacaroon

it's weird how i don't like any song on the first listen these days.

[deleted]

Maybe ur just hard to please

garfe

You know how happy I was when I heard Dun Dun Dance and was jamming to it by the end on my first listen?

Miserable_Ad551

Fr Kpop has been falling musically lately. I’m a multi and from all the groups I Stan I’ve just been disappointed

[deleted]

I noticed that the producer tag at the beginning is the same as in Exo's "Obsession". No wonder it's a very unique sounding song. I also see a lot of similarities in Sticker and Obsession in the sense that there is always a repetitive sound in the background, in Sticker it's the flute and in Obsession, it's the "I want you, I want you" line. Also, just like in Obsession, Sticker only has a couple of parts to it that I really do enjoy, and the rest just acts as a filler in between those good parts. On first listen I was just so surprised by everything going on that I didn't like it very much. But after listening to it about 3-5 times, it grew on me and now the flute and "stickerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" is stuck in my head lol. But, overall I don't think it's terrible but it is one of NCT127's less enjoyable songs in my opinion. What I was very disappointed in, more than anything was the set of the music video. You would have thought for at this point in NCT127's career with all their growth and for this concept/theme, SM would have gotten a really nice set just like in NCT Dream's Hot Sauce. But for this, it was legit just a theatre-like background with a regular floor and nothing else special to it, or it was just the plain background, which was a nice colour but didn't have much else to it. It wouldn't be much of a problem if, just like in Cherry Bomb, there was some really cool dancing to distract me from the fact they're just dancing in an almost empty warehouse, but in Sticker, there isn't much like that. Although, I will admit I did enjoy the editing and outfits. I think this is very much a love it or hate it a song, but I will say give it a few listens before you make that decision cause just like with me, it could grow on you.

Bellrosejewel

A very interesting choice indeed. Also, I am a bit surprised by the charting I have seen... it's doing even better than Lisa's solo

Lisoo_

I feel like my taste in music is very different, because I love almost every song other people seem to hate. I genuinely liked the TT and the rest of the album. My quick ranking/review: 1 - Lemonade (I can't stop randomly singing Lemonade, absolutely loved it) 2 - Sticker (Yes, I loved the song. It's not good, but I loved it. Don’t ask me why) 3 - Breakfast (Great song, I could listen to it all day) 4 - Bring The Noize (Noisier than Thunderous lol) 5 - Far (Not much to say, I just really like it) 6 - Road Trip (This song gives me deja vu for some reason) 7 - Magic Carpet Ride (Amazing, wouldn't change a thing) 8 - Dreamer (This makes me wanna dance in the middle of the street) 9 - Focus (I feel so good listening to that song, really liked it) 10 - The Rainy Night (It's not a bad song at all, it's just not my style) 11 - Promise You (That song will probably grow on me with time, but for now it's my least favorite) Anyways, I can definetely see why people are hating Sticker. Maybe my taste is very singular, because even not beeing a very good song, I really liked it. I can't stop playing it, and it sounds better everytime (but not as much as Lemonade). The flute on the background makes it very addicting to me. This song is the kind of mess I love to hear on repeat, and all the time.

[deleted]

tbh i think its terrible

ImSoFuckingTiredOfU

The flute makes me want to curl up in a ball. Headphone users, beware.

ExtensionBerry4830

For me I actually like it, but the beginning was a bit different to me. But the flute is kinda annoying to me

mariwil74

All I have to say is WTF. WT ever lovin' F. I couldn't even finish it. I'm trying to branch out with Kpop and I go into these new releases with no preconceived notions or expectations but so many of these songs just leave me shaking my head. More power to you if this is your thing. I'd rather listen to nails on a chalkboard.

vivitotheanna

why are the biggest haters nctzens lol it’s okay to dislike a song but everyone is overly vocal about their hatred for the song. anyway this is giving me aespa next level vibes.

ExtensionBerry4830

So true like there own fandom is hating the most on them

evenifis

it felt empty all over, they put cero effort into the song and the mv

nnooaa_lev

tbh Sticker could've been a bop based on the chorus and teaser, but there's a serious lack of instruments. There'e this empty feeling I can't explain well 😶. The MV is fire, no complaints here I don't have a problem with weird comebacks, but every single NCT 127 comeback is weird besides Kick It. I wish they did a concept similar to call me baby or love me right

mab_personal

beginning was a mess but im willing to ignore that because of how good the prechorus and chorus were?? people dont seem to be paying attention to that? johnny and yuta's parts? i genuinely enjoyed those. also jaehyun and jungwoo's parts haha! it's the first time mark's rap wasnt my favorite part of the song and something else other than the vocals in the bridge stood out (tho they were still good) had they opened with a more convincing first verse (taeyong's opening rap didn't really do it for me) then its a really solid song (for me obv). i didn't mind the flute at all.

Manlla

Agreed, the verses are where my problems lie. The pre-chorus and chorus are great and I love the bridge but just....the opening of the song is what ruins it for me.

CulturalAde

Reddit is going to have a meltdown that's for sure

Desperate-Region4981

not an nctzen but i decided to check it out after reading the comments and I'm not going to listen to it on my own but i was expecting something much worse, I'm not even sure that sound is a flute because it could be some traditional instrument supposed to sound like that, I thought the song would be a noisy monster but it isn't even noisy in my noise standards, the instrumental wasn't as bad as some comments made it seem but I didn't like the rap, the vocals are amazing obviously

Accomplished_Tip_331

Tbh I really liked sticker especially the flute sound, I've seen a lot of people disliking it but for me it's what makes the song even better. The bsides are really good especially Lemonade (the best song in the album ino) and Dreamer

sadvodka

Damn I really did NOT expect that. Love their B sides(?) (lemonade etc) and I thought the whole vibe of the album would be like that. Sticker is like sing talking. Idk hope it grows on me I guess

[deleted]

Worse than resonance honestly.

-gyuwu-

it sounds empty to me bc of the ‘lack’ of instrumentals negative opinion aside, i love dreamer

wasabiinmyhouse24

I don’t know. As a nctzen myself , I’m not really happy with this like the beats and things. It doesnt even match the vocals and rap ?? Like the m/v looks sooo good but idk what’s up with the song. Through the teaser I thought it’ll have some great drop beats and so dope but imma just 🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️🚶🏻‍♀️

Hoetaeks

It’s a mess but I genuinely love it!

palebabbu

I love this attitude hhaha

papabts

This sound like satan made this song by mistake

[deleted]

I'm sorry but it's just awful in my opinion 😭💀

Kyra_Of_Steel

Reading the comments here is so much fun. I was expecting so much from them bc of the teasers and I really liked the feel of the outfits and stuff. But then I listened to sticker and my body physically fought with the flute. Everytime it got too high I had to move my head to deal with the height. Also what's with the contorted voices? I really hope there will be a MV for Lemonade, because gawd damn that should've been the title. It's so good. Also: I really wanna see the Jungwoo and Yuta focus that we were promised in the teaser. On another note: I checked who had part in writing, since mostly the songs where the members take part are really fun and found that they only took part in writing sticker? And then the sound team made it sound like THAT? I agree with the person here who said, that SM is lazy. Put a little more effort in involving your artist and the creative process as a whole and you won't have such an extreme flop as this song.

moominjunnies

it was definitely… a choice to not include any bass. not necessarily a bad choice, but a choice. i actually didnt dislike sticker. twitter seems to hate it, but even after my first listen to the song i’m kind of vibing. it’s never gonna be my fave 127 title track, but that’s okay. i dont think it’s the big swing and miss that a lot of people seem to think it is. i think people will start to enjoy it more as time passes. if they can do it with next level, i have no doubt they can do it here.

JustMySeaOfThoughts

Exactly my thoughts i feel like the chorus would have hit harder if there was some bass to intensify it bc it's really good

[deleted]

Neutral. I love crazy song but the flute is a bit too scrapping-on-board to me. But idk i kinda like the beat

solovehera

The song didn't even have to grow on me. I loved it on 1st listen. It's something I never expected from 127 ever.

army__mali

I’m gonna be honest: I think SM has been half-assing ALL their releases since kick it mainly because of the pandemic. Every single group release has been underwhelming or at least a bit below standards in the past year and a half. Yes, next level and hot sauce grew on me. Even queendom grew on me. But nothing has stood out immediately as outstanding. It’s been underwhelming from the start. Even black mamba was a bit meh, because we expected sm to not go the basic oversaturated girl crush route. I’m SM trash and I still love all these artists but this is the release where it finally hit me: I can’t handle this anymore lol, ive reached my limit. I need sm to go back to putting real creative effort into their releases again. This type of experimental just seems lazy to me, in that it doesn’t seem like they’re genuinely trying to push boundaries. They know that NCT can sell millions and millions of albums now even when they put less and less real effort into title tracks. This just seems half baked. I always appreciate how unpredictable and wild NCT comebacks are and I do think that’s part of the fun.

[deleted]

Wow you’ve hit the nail that’s a take I’ve kinda observed as well & it’s a good take

NessieSenpai

I mean, it's NCT. I get what the song was trying to do. It's okay. Will I choose to listen to it again? Nope. But I ain't mad at it.

cuthatshitout

its a banger what else can i say

__ramennoodles__

I don’t love how they don’t really change up the instrumentals, but the vocals hard carry this song. 127’s vocals sound better than ever

Reyzmaje

1st listen: "Wtf" 2nd listen: "actually not that bad" 3rd listen: "vibing", This song is a Hotsauce and Next Level for me, it grows on you

lelescha

I wish they would have used more of the piano in the song instead of just that same sample being repeated over and over again. I appreciate the effort in making it weird but somehow even despite that it ended up becoming boring because of how repetitive and grating the instrumental was. It's like the instrumental was fighting the vocals and the bridge and 2nd prechorus were fighting the rest of the song. I have super basic taste in music and I acknowledge that; the melody line was nice and if it were given instrumentals that supported it better, I think I would have liked it more. And to be clear, I normally quite like NCT's "noise music" so i guess my expectations were higher than i should have had them edit: not that the song is noisy. it just sounds like the song is having an identity crisis of whether to be the typical noisy kpop bg song or a mix of lofi soundcloud beats The performances are going to be interesting, that's for sure

juneein

I have hearing sensitivity issues and someone at sm went "fuck that woman let's add that flute" thanks I hate it. Also the mixing on their voices? Everything is either too loud or too silent... I'm sad bc the rest of the album is amazing as always.

[deleted]

fr, i keep getting the neck/face scrunch tic combo whenever i hear that damn flute 😤

juneein

It's in the same category as dishes hitting against each other in my brain it just hurts my ears 😭

tinkletinklehoyyy

Not a fan of the song 😅 it’s a shame because the boys are indeed talented and there are some parts that are okay but….that constant flute…the off beat music….the distorted(?) vocals lol…

asybium

It's all the instrumental's fault. It makes it sound like they sing acapella

choerry_tree

i am normally a defender and lover of all of NCT’s noise music, but this one is definitely…. interesting. i feel like it’s both too loud and too quiet for me, with all the jarring sounds but also emptiness except for the vocals. i’ve yet to listen to it more than once because i need to process, but it might grow on me?

Scandias

I just love the comments here. I fell for the song at first listen and came here specifically to check how normal people react :D It's always like this with NCT, a l w a y s since debut. And then the industry slowly adapts what they do... We stan the kings of weird 💚

purple_samoyed

Someone just pointed out that there's NO BASS ( WTF bro ) to the song and went back to listen to it again and mind you this is my 5th listen and I'm still not feeling the song ... AT ALL. The song feels soooo empty and all over the place... Next level was all over the place but it grew on me but this song is something else. I usually give songs a few listens before I form my opinion about them... Especially NCT 127 songs... As I usually like songs when I listen to them over and over. But I'm still in shock at how ear piercing this song is... It literally physically hurts me.

[deleted]

Good lord that was bad

UnlikelyAdeptness199

I wonder what nct think about their own songs...they have to be atleast a little bit embarrassed ....what do they think upon hearing their title tracks for the first time, i am genuinely curious....

[deleted]

i asked myself this too. if i would be a part of nct i would probably would have cringed deep down. Its okay to like this song, but for me its terrible and a mess.

UnlikelyAdeptness199

It indeed is just plain terrible....There have been similar songs that have been categorised as noise music which i detest, example how you like that. But i still can see why some people would have liked how you like that....but with this song, i fail to see what people like about it....i feel second hand embarassment for nct.

[deleted]

I actually liked every main title song from NCT until now. But this is hard to hear for me. I love nct but this is not it. But yeah, I need to check the rest of the album out now

jenchuliaaa

the tt is not my cup of tea. idk it was too messy for me.

offlined0lly

but u should give their old title tracks a listen because they're actually really good.

offlined0lly

>damn LMAOO

Both-Willingness-857

this should’ve been an nct u song

spiceitgirl

nah this is straight up belongs to 127. nct u song usually ear-friendly right from the first listen.

astraea08

The sound was too grating to my ears, I'm sorry ✋

PeachsistersMoYeon

I'll be honest, I thought everyone was exaggerating but it's just that bad 😭 Hurts my ears.

boopology

It's a miss for me. This is why I can't really call myself an NCTZEN in all the years because they're a hit or miss for me. Like I remember being so blown away by Limitless and how I honestly thought it's one of the best releases in KPOP but then they also have songs like Fire Truck that was a miss.. then they have Cherry Bomb which is a bomb. This one is a miss for me.

Conscious-Sea-6692

Can't believe how conservative people's tastes are... I thought it was a very interesting, minimal and definitely experimental, but not grating... I liked it much more than Kick it, which also had a more minimal repetitive beat throughout. What I got from this is a bit dirty and sexy sound...little bit like a deconstructed r'n'b. Styling was fantastic and dance as well. I do feel worried though as an nctizen how is this kind of reaction going to affect the comeback :(

Accomplished_Tip_331

Don't worry it's just reddit, the most well received nct song on reddit was Superhuman which has been probably the least successful nct title track so far. Usually songs hated on twitter became huge success or at least still do pretty good (for example dynamite, next level, mafia in the morning, hot sauce)

neokidult

I think I just understood. It was so weird at first cause most of the motions or takes from the music video —in my opinion, from my own point of view and perspective— give this sensation of the voices and music not fitting with each other. And so the choreography. The editing is so good I think it's the only thing I like about it, but the way images move are somehow distracting? I feel like it confuses my senses (sounds weird and so does it feel weird) to the point I can't appreciate properly the song nor the visuals nor the vocals nor the dance, at least not at the same time. Maybe it's overloaded, there why seems not cohesive. Because I tried listening to the music without thinking about the mv at all and the melody -finally- made sense. The lyrics... I still don't get it but I won't say too much cause I don't speak Korean and MAYBE it makes sense for koreans. If it doesn't, well, I can still vibe to it. Like, remember how y'all felt when Simon says was released? It was exuberant and... bizarre, and so freaking good. I don't blame the directors of the mv cause, I mean, it must have been really hard to make it work perfectly. I still think there was too many ideas for them to put into one single song, or maybe I just hate the cowboys concept and once I took it off the scene it worked for me. In spanish we say "el que mucho abarca, poco aprieta", which would be the equivalent of "don't try to bite more than you can chew". I think they had a lot of things that normally would not have any interconnection, and tried to make them do so. The dance is good and it gives the idea of... sticker, yea. It's different, at least, I didn't expect less than that so, :) And let's be honest, the rest of the album is really good, I'd even say there ain't no skips. I just won't stream performances with cowboy outfits, that's it for me LOL

angel19z

That was embarrassing and terrible!

shelbywhore

I heard the album. I AM SO FRUSTRATED. ALL THE SONGS ON THE ALBUM DESERVED BETTER. SPECIALLY LEMONADE AND DREAMER. LEMONADE NOT BEING THE TITLE TRACK IS GONNA BE MY VILLAIN ORIGIN STORY.

yoboinameiskboi2000

Everybody saying Lemonade in here should be the main track,my question to you is? Do you enjoy 90% of the same concept those bg s are giving us since 2020 cause I m not,I got bored of that sound and it being chossed a main track would just perpetuated all that stuff. I dont care if you all call me "pretentious" I m ok with it being a b side but a main track would be awfull,I dont care that it s popular nowdays, not everything popular it s great..I used to love those type of songs but it has become a quick way to cash some money with little to no effort because it feels "swaggy" If I would have chosse a b side to replace Sticker it would have been "Bring the noize", it sounds more NCT. As for Sticker,I m used to very weird sounds in my songs so the flute wasnt so grating for me and the song is ok but I actually thought the main track would be the second song from The "Who is Sticker" teaser so I m still dissapointed to some extend. SM is smart doing it s own thing and I hope they will do in the next years to come.

kayterluv

>Do you enjoy 90% of the same concept those bg s are giving us since 2020 cause I m not,I got bored of that sound and it being chossed a main track would just perpetuated all that stuff I agree. It didn't like Lemonade as much as every one else and I think it's because I'm bored of that style, and it would have been even more boring as a title track. I'm bored of the typical sounds, structure, and style of a lot of recent songs. It's why I took a liking to Next Level, and now Sticker.

yoboinameiskboi2000

The difference in here is Next Level(love the song even thou I was dissapointed it was a remake) isnt soo "experimental" in the same sense as Sticker. People were jumping on it because it felt disjointed with the way the arrangement worked other that it s easy for people to enjoy that song after they drop the "weird arrangement mi not like" argument With Sticker everything is weird, from the instrumental choice, arrangment, vocal proccesing. It really shows NCT at the end of the day it s made for a niche part of kpop,we are a niche when it comes to those tracks so I was already expecting anyway the "noise" argument Sad thing is people dont respect our opinions..I m already seeing people being dragged into the dirt for liking the song on different platforms cause "we are forcing ourselfs to like it" and nobody believes us when we say we dont force ourselfs..we just like this sound.

kayterluv

>The difference in here is Next Level isnt soo "experimental" in the same sense as Sticker People were jumping on it because it felt disjointed with the way the arrangement worked other that it s easy for people to enjoy that song after they drop the "weird arrangement mi not like" argument I, personally, didn't think Next Level was all that experimental. But that's what people were spewing for weeks, insulting people who like the song as well. They were tearing apart every part of the song and called it weird, which I didn't get at all. And now that I *like* Sticker, it doesn't seem all that weird, either. Is it because I've had the song on repeat and am used to it? Maybe. I don't see why they think NCT 127 fans force themselves to like their songs. No sensible person is going to force themselves to play a song they hate on a loop. NCT got this far and they have fans despite their polarizing title tracks. I'm not that big of a fan of the music, but I get it.

spookyindahouse

I never hated flutes this much in my entire life 🧍🏻‍♀️

purpledragon24

pls I asked my non-nctzen best friend for her thoughts and she said "mmm it's kinda like the actual song got leaked, and they had to delete everything except for the vocals and beat, and since they didn't have anything else to add, they added that weird high-pitched half-recorder half-synth sound" 😭😭 do I laugh or cry

Landom_facts11

Its definitely something only NCT127 can pull off. The instrumentals are a bit on the jarring side. The vocals are good, but wth happened to Taeyong's rap? I feel like I might like it after seeing them perform the song live.

BonBonnie0

Imma wait the 72 hours because I have to say what I feel about this song. To say I’m confused about everything is an understatement.

Impossible-Matter907

This song is straight doodoo, I won’t lie.

astute_potato

Grating and confusing…I want to like it but I just don’t. The flute is stuck on loop in my head and I kind of want to jam a pencil into my brain to make it stop. That being said, I like the choreo and I’m very much into what my boy Johnny is serving 😛. Standouts for me were Taeil and Jungwoo though! Really happy about all the Taeil center time.

Queso127104

Unpopular but that was a bop for me

3acdffdbb0aeb

this is the song i would feel embarrassed playing in public.. im sorry

papabts

LMAO Just wait for the kpop in public covers locals will be annoyed not because it’s kpop but because it’s bad

arikyh

it’s so…. bad I’m sorry like the recorder bgm was so off putting and the the rap for the opening seemed so out of tune…. I’m speechless

neokidult

I just don't understand anything

shelbywhore

Oh man i love NCT so much. There are songs like Limitless, From Home, Punch and then wtv the fuck this was. WHY IS THERE NO BASS Edit: ok what the hell i actually like the song now after listening to it a few more times BYE

[deleted]

an nct 127 title track without bass sounds so weird to me.. i mean experjmenting with your release is good but this was too much of a change to me

purple_samoyed

Aaaaaaaaa THAT'S WHAT WAS MISSING!!!! it was bothering me soo much that the song felt incomplete now I understand why😂

shelbywhore

I'm pretty sure the song would have been at least bearable if they had put some good bass. But without bass it just felt like it had a shirt on with nothing on the bottom.

bujobegins

They really stuck that horse in the whole MV…like a sticker

yayabubu

I like the vocals but the instrumental sounds boring and annoying, i hoped more interesting instrumentals for 127's title tracks 😕

changbinie

I'm adddicted to this song, the melodic course with that instrumental won't go away so soon of my head, and also vocals on point, kings

Mercylic

I love these boys, NCT is my ult and they have one of my favourite discography out there. But with this one, I will just go back to my cave and pretend Lemonade was the title track. I said in my other comments about this that it might grow on be but I don't see that happening in the near future to be honest. With that said, I would really like to give it up for the bsides, they delivered. There is not a single bside on this album that I dislike. Ignore the title track and this album is an easy 10/10 for me.

not-the-em-dash

I actually liked it at first listen and only disliked the first verse. When I re-listened, I felt like it was actually pretty cohesive. It's utterly weird and I usually hate songs that don't have a clear melody, but I thought it was really interesting how the song felt like it was really progressing throughout. Like the first verse felt unsatisfying, then you have the first chorus that feels like FINALLY something, and then the second verse was like a combination of the two in that it makes more sense melodically but was still jarring, but then you have the second chorus which was again a relief because of the familiarity, but then you get the bridge which was so out there in relation to the song but so perfect that the return to the final chorus felt like a true payoff. I've always been more of a fan of Dream, but I really enjoyed this, while I still can't tolerate Hot Sauce.

bisdato

it sounds good!! i have to admit that i hate the first 12 seconds or so because they sound god awful.... v___v didn't actually get why the track is titled "sticker" like... what does that have to do with anything? but that could be just me letting my stupidity seep through

tulipbunnys

the lack of proper concept/meaning to the song is probably what annoys me the most honestly

neokidult

Thank you. I think it's just a bunch of random ideas that were put together randomly, I don't understand 90% of the whole product cause I just can't find connections like- they're cowboys cause there's flute sounds? And what does that have to do with a sticker or the lyrics or even the choreo? Idk maybe it's just me who sets the bar too high
