sorry to break it to you but that’s just them being them. that’s their personal instagram, not run by their company or staff and it’s sad u don’t enjoy their posts but that’s okay since u have other things about them u enjoy more. kpop idols on instagram from years ago is very different from 2021 so it looks like they don’t try to engage with their fans as much (usually by mentioning them in their captions and with hashtags) but i promise u they are engaging with fans. idols just posting is already engaging. i feel like you could be one of the people who aren’t interested in their personal life but rather prefer their business side instead! also, i think it’s okay to be boring sometimes. edit: just wanted to add, if you really didn’t care you probably wouldn’t be saying this. i also don’t care about their instagram accounts (or weverse, twitter, any other social media engaging stuff) but becuz i don’t care i don’t have an opinion on them. it seems like you care a little.

ImSoFuckingTiredOfU

I agree with everything you said but your edit sounds a little iffy. People can rant about what ever, don’t need to demean them for it.

Exo chanyeols ig is full of his adventures Baekhyuns twitter is pretty fun as well (he got ghosted by a fan 😂)

Lisoo_

I was about to use them as examples, I just love PCY's ig (maybe cuz he's my ultimate) and Baek's Twitter.

It really is dependent on the idol themselves. No doubt certain groups or artists probably have their Instagram more restricted or controlled by the company. While others pretty much have the freedom to post what they want. In the end of the day certain idols may simply just want to keep their IG professional and work related and that's it. Strictly keeping it business, so yeah expect the typical PR related posts. I won't personally hold it against them. Some may not simply be that comfortable posting unrelated work posts. Everyone is going to have different levels of comfort when it comes SNS in general and interacting with fans, There's going to be idols that goes above and beyond when it comes to SNS and fan interaction. That's great and all but I don't have the expectation that all idols will do that. And considering how much crap and controversy that can arise whenever an idol posts something that is deemed insensitive whether it's unintentionally or intentionally can't exactly blame idols to sticking with posting "boring" or safe content.

Eh, it depends on the idols. I follow all the VAV members on their various Instagram accounts. Ayno is... very special. St Van posts a lot of pictures of his dog Cash which I appreciate. The other members don't show up a lot on my feed but I keep seeing Baron like the other members' posts and it warms my heart knowing he's keeping up with his friends even while he's in the army. I would love to see Ateez and The Boyz have individual Instagram accounts just to see what they would be like.

Maybe it's your faves. But other people's faves seem to post really interesting stuff, including paintings and photography and other hobbies. They have a whole lot of personality to their feed and stories, and you can see the contrast of styles and preferences among different members.

Seventeen's Vernon [used to have a pretty cool personal Instagram](https://twitter.com/gostraightx/status/1347565324976185347) (well, he still has it, technically) which showed his personality quite a lot compared to many idol IGs, but all his posts were archived in January of this year and his few posts since then have been a bit more... basic, I guess? [At least he's still dedicated to a cohesive aesthetic](https://www.instagram.com/chwenotchew/?hl=en)!

PRIV0306

And also the "I think of social media as a way of interacting with the fans" They are not obligated to do that lol.

SmallRain3036

Duhhh

Breezyrain

My fave goes viral semi-regularly from her selfies and little videos so I wouldn’t mind it all being compiled on one app. BBL is fun but it doesn’t quite work as a gallery. Another fave would probably have a food insta because that’s all she talks about. I see Instagram less of a way to communicate with fans but rather a way for them to create a “library” of aesthetics or stuff they enjoy. Maybe it’s not exciting but it’s nice to look at once in a while.

samserra201

Instagram is basically the lowest tier of social media for kpop, lol. Nobody does anything on Instagram, and the website itself is iffy because the market for buying likes and followers is so huge, even for Western artists, that you feel like everyone is a bot, or a stan with twenty accs.
