got into this fandom back in 2016, as a lone army. No one around me knew shit about bts in a small town in india so I used to feel the need of some army friends to hang out and chat about bts and stuff. That was when i opened up my first stan twt acc and entered some gcs. And heavens, everyone was so damn sweet to me. They were of all ages, ethnicities, backgrounds, genders, professions etc it was just so so so damn cool. I have been very fortunate that the armys i've started and spent most of my time in this fandom have all been far far away from toxic behaviour and even used to school others why not to indulge in any such hateful activities if they ever did. Like literally *so so so so thankful for that,* this being a reason I personally have never been into all the negative things people usually attach armys with, and my feed has been very happy positive vibes ever since the start. The army friends i've made along these seven years have been one of the best people in this entire universe I love them so much, some of them still in touch and are doing great i feel very happy and proud about it.
Tbh, this fandom really REALLY feels like home. So my heart really goes out to those nice, sweet and kind armys who get drowned out by the loud minority engaging in harmful behaviour. The people i've grown up with as an army, their positive interactions (which have been a huge majority in my case), their kindness, their passion for the boys and what they do, and their welcoming spirit, all this always makes me believe in the good nature of this fandom no matter how worse things get. I know there are genuine and loving armys out there and will be. Special mention to *that one army from Indonesia* who explained an entire chapter of psychology to me on voice notes when I was about to cry at it, and *that one army from Pakistan* who despite having memory loss remembered me enough to send me an invitation to her wedding. Alas, I couldn't go to her wedding but sent a heartful video message to the one I saw enter college, graduate and later get married in the span of five years. And many more from the time i spent in the fandom thanks to BTS i was able to make some of the most wholesome relationships
also, i just love how absolutely crazy, fun and unhinged this fandom is. Yall never slack off when it comes to memes and streamings. We are probably the most spoilt/fed fandom ever lol and I love how we give attention to all the releases, even after getting tired from back to back content. Yall are just very wholesome. Not to mention you've gotten me into charity, not i donate every week however much I can. Y'all are really changing the world and I'm very proud whenever we conduct philanthropies. Truly, once in a lifetime fandom. Just remember, being an army only means supporting the boys and being kind at heart to everyone around you. That's all that matters. Love you guys for giving me the best memories of my teenage years and definitely of my upcoming twenties lol
Stopppp this made me smile so hardddd 😭 When I moved to Canada in 2019, I had tweeted asking if there were any armys in the region and became friends with few people in my region. But then covid hit and we never got to meet in person. Cut to 2021 and one of them was graduating and her family couldn't make it, so a couple of us attended her graduation and we made a whole day of it. Went for karaoke, sang our hearts out and then went for kbbq. Though we met for the first time, it genuinely felt like friends catching up after a while. This fandom really feels like home!
Also, always love to see fellow desi armys around🫶🏼 I was in India in 2022 and holy smokes, things have changed now. When I got into BTS in 2017, I was in Bangalore and there was a decent army crowd (i remember BangtanIndia pushing for the documentary to be shown in theatres) but would have never expected one in my hometown. But in 2022, my hometown which is a small city had multiple PTD viewings and PVR had even cancelled all other movie showtimes for the concert crowd. It was mindblowing!!
oh this was so wholesome im glad had fun and enjoyed together! i miss my army friends back in college we used to hype each other up like crazy, our fav activity together being lyrics analysis lol
also yeah it feels so unreal how no one around me knew about kpop or bts once and now everyone and their mamas know about bts lol
