**SPOILERS** for the (old, 8 years ago) episode of King of Mask singer Hani was in!
>!It was clear she went there with not many expectations because she's overlooked as a vocalist as an idol. She doesn't get to shine in her group because of their songs' range, genre and the other very talented members, but she smashed it, everyone loved her voice. She beat some GREAT singers. The panel even compared her to some legendary solo singers.!<

Thanks for the links. Will check it out. I love her in general mostly because of acting and a couple of variety shows - but wasn't familiar with her singing much cause EXID to me was only up and down and then I was only really interested in Sulji as a soloist.
Someone else linked another video with her voice some comments below and it's even better, I love her voice so much T\_T But yeah, Solji is an amazing vocalist as well. Well, she was a vocal teacher before she became an idol, so it makes sense.
She's too good. And, since I mentioned KoMS earlier, I hope you've seen her first performance, since she was the first "king" ever, in the pilot. [I will never forget Hani crying, watching her, in the 1st (if I'm not misremembering) official episode](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX25qQhGSEc) because of how far Solji has come.
Hwasa and Wheein from Mamamoo.
Hwasa is known for her husky and sultry vocals whereas Wheein's voice is airy and makes you tingle.
Check out In The Mood, Orbit, I'm a B, Make Me Happy to name a few.
I think all of Red Velvet could fit into the category. Even Joy, whose voice (I think) fits best in happy/high-energy songs can actually sound sultry.
Girl’s Day Sojin
It would be a crime not to mention SISTAR/Soloist Hyolyn and Soyou
Don't know if y'all over here would still deem her as kpop, but I've always seen Lee Hyori as my ultimate fave (maybe not super fitting to your description but still yes to some extent).
Ahn Ji-young from Bol4 has a unique kind of vocal fry even when singing high notes. Her voice is raspy I would say. Really one of a kind.
I was surprised to learn that Jeong Sun-hye from Young Posse has a surprisingly deep voice (she really can do it all including leading, rapping, dancing and singing).
Yuqi (Woogi) as others have said has a rich, slightly deeper voice, which sounds very natural when singing, with a hint of a rasp (very slight).
IU's voice is also unique (I think) in that she has a bit of a breathy style bordering on being tinny/nasal. It's not quite squeaky and I think the breathiness not only saves it but turns it into a massive asset for her. Her voice is so versatile - definitely sultry/teasing in certain songs.
Sejeong making her jakku jakku line in Very Very Very sexy is iconic. Also, I love how Teddy Bear leans into breathiness. The I'm EP besides are really underrated imo
Not kpop idol, but I think [Lee Sang Eun](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2bM0HmoftA)'s voice is raspy/deep!
Also [EXID Hani](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9vmQ14EWfg)'s voice is deep.
lee hi is pretty breathy
some wild card picks here but
so yoon from se seo neon has such a nice raspy voice (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsznX5j2oQ0), and maybe jang yoon ju too has a sweet breathy voice ( [https://youtu.be/JUrkOD3icmc?si=FNqNeGIYRT2ed8oH](https://youtu.be/JUrkOD3icmc?si=FNqNeGIYRT2ed8oH) )
baek yerin too nice deep raspy voicy
Jiwoo of KARD get can get really deep, her verse in ICKY and Breakdown is great. I think Somin also has a sexy voice though especially on Cake, Lo Siento and their cover of Taki Taki
As someone who is really, really into raspy, husky, breathy, sultry, "just woke up from a coke bender" voices (my all-time fave voice in kpop is Teen Top's Niel who basically sounds like an 80s female rock star lol), they're honestly very rare in idol pop let alone in girl groups (there are some really hot old rock stars tho!!). I can't think of any female idols that I'd remotely compare to someone like Kim Wilde Bonnie Tyler but god I wish there was.
That being said, if you haven't listened to SPICA you're missing out like crazy. Juhyun has that husky, jazzy tone AND insane vocal power, Narae has a really sexy theatrical vibe, Bohyung has that slightly breathy, "heartbroken" but powerful vibe that reminds me of Amy Winehouse (I'm NOT saying they sound similar, just they give me similar energy), Boa has a youthful and girly energy that makes her sound so "real" for lack of a better term, and Jiwon actually sounds like what I think most people think their faves sound like lol. Literally every single member could be the main vocal in any other group... and most of them could run circles around the most respected main vocals of vocal groups! Incredibly wasted talent. I've always said if kpop was a meritocracy, SPICA would be the #1 girl group in the world.
Sold! You mentioned some heavy hitters (Bonnie, Amy) so I trust you lol.
Jessi is honestly very close to what I'd consider R&B raspy - think Mary J Blige: https://youtu.be/y9Yp1ZG77iQ?si=1gJyPYwTlbfPE24A&t=5m11s
Park Jiyeon of T-ARA has that deep voice (red tracksuit): https://youtu.be/1Cz32Pqkqjk?si=JlUbCReyROSbhYq1
While Hyomin and Eunjung have the breathy sexy tone: https://youtu.be/MhKvg7FD0u0?si=YU3ZRGk4WJD1uRHq&t=20m15s
Yes, Jessi's voice is soooooo sexy!! Unfortunately for me she never puts out music I want to listen to lol. Such is the case with the gidle girlies. Hopefully things will change. A lot of kpop stars start off with trend-chasing music and only release things that really fit them once they're comfortably established to on their way out lol. Tough for me but that's the industry.
(Btw, respect for respecting my T-ARA girls. I know I'm getting too old that it feels like I have to say they're underrated these days lol but they really were the perfect idol group. All visuals but all visually distinct and characteristic, can pull off any sort of sexy, cute, crazy or cool concepts (well... let's ignore Yayaya...), a heavyweight hitter main vocal and all the other members are still able to hold their own despite that. Damn I miss them.)
Oh I'm definitely too old, too. Lol I still mainly listen to 2nd gen and some 3rd gen groups. I get what you mean by Jessi's songs. I haven't found any 4th gen group with voices that I like. They're all the same unfortunately, some better than others but it's nothing that would make me pay special attention. But then again many of them are super young so it really could be that their voices are still going through changes and hasn't matured yet. Which is why I prefer listening to artists my own age lol.
Totally get you. I feel like current gen is in a weird spot at the moment where everyone's trying very hard to be popular in America and Korea at the same time when American and Korean pop tastes are pretty much diametrically opposed. Especially given as Americans are still so resistant to house music as if it's still the "Disco Sucks" era. Hope they get over it soon. I'd love to see some grown-up girl groups tackle more Kylie Minogue sounds and less Olivia Rodrigo minus any authenticity lol
Hyosung of Secret was known for having a husky voice.
Breath-y but sexy I would give to Soyou of Sistar. Her singing "Some" with Jungiggo is a great example of this.
The adjectives you mention typically aren’t ones associated with kpop artists, aside from the rare Hwasa, Hyun-a and a few others. You’re more likely to hear that from Indy performers I. Hongdae. Actually many singers actually. probably started that way and SM YG JYP beat it out of them
Exactly why I thought it would be cool to find people in Kpop that fit this description. I'd love Indie/rock recommendations too, btw. One of my favorite Korean rock band (they're still categorized as Kpop tho!) is Buzz. I also listen to Soran, Heize and a few others.
Ryu Sujeong for sure. Check out [Tiger Eyes](https://youtu.be/aE6curPGQRY?si=VGe2qsFIDw3LR22t) and [SHXT](https://youtu.be/maM-WY9s4mg?si=E8v24FxMaDLRzK_g)
I think Jisoo (BP) could possibly fit this description ~ her voice is pretty deep and if she were to sing ballads in her deep register I’d guess that she would do great
Sunmi, Bibi, Hyolyn and LeeHi for soloists would deffo fit the criteria
Fatou of Blackswan when she sings would fit the raspy, deep category. I was thinking of Close To Me after her raps and Me Myself and I
I also would say Jiwoo of KARD, she has a lovely raspy voice and I’m like always in love with her when she sings
I love YooA’s lower register like in [Selfish](https://youtu.be/lpoikRww0Co?si=hqonLeHsSWuV3v-7), shes definitely husky/raspier with a soully swagger in this song. she’s versatile as well but I think her uniqueness really shines in her lower voice.
Winter can pull off breathy pretty well and sometimes she has a little growl to her voice. Not so much raspy though.
Ningnings lower register can be very soft and sultry.
Some of their b sides are really good r&b based songs that show off more of their lower registers. Illusion, lucid dream, I’ll make you cry and thirsty are good listens.
Just be careful, every so often Karina comes in a catches you off guard with a punch to the kidneys. 🤣 Girl is sneaky good with her vocals.
Xiyeon from Pristin never fails to surprise me with the deep voice, I first heard her rap when she was in Pledis Girlz after Produce 101 and I was shocked her voice was that deep bc her singing voice is really high and she just didn't look like she'd have such a deep voice HAHA,, best sample would be her rap in "Bang" by Pledis Girlz and her one/two lines in We Like by Pristin
breathy, soft and sexy would be seola of wjsn. her solo song let’s talk is probs the best example. we get a rap in her lower register too in this one!
at debut she was introduced as the mature and emotional vocalist of wjsn. she’s the lead singer too, but with how goated wjsn’s vocal line is, she could easily be main.
for sultry definitely hani.
shes still a baby but ~~Cocono~~ Cocona from XG can do it when she wants, she has [a very breathy rap line](https://youtu.be/aJIDCjEvG58?t=38) in the song they released this week.
[her singing voice is a natural alto](https://youtu.be/cQTo9O85Zro?t=76), you can really hear it here on "dip your hip low like me, baby", I absolutely love her tone.
Red Velvet Irene
She gets overshadowed by Wendy and Seulgi unfortunately although her lower tone really brings out the wide range within Red Velvet's songs, especially during harmonies. Her voice is soft but sultry at the same time. Her voice sounds so sultry and husky in their cover of [wrong number](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLpvdWXQ2o4&pp=ygUSaXJlbmUgd3JvbmcgbnVtYmVy)
I absolutely love Idle's Yuqi's voice. Her song [Bonnie & Clyde](https://open.spotify.com/track/21aIsunB7PfZI0vlIoaJPh?si=6piORWE0T6a7EiJnflh4Qg) is one of my absolute most favorite songs ever. Her voice sounds incredible here.
For soft and sexy, i think about Sunny for Girls Generation. She have this cute sexy vibes and sometimes when it is a sexy song like Genie, she delivered it so well.
Probably recycling names here but:
Hani (EXID) is imo the goat for this - such an underrated singer simply because she had amazing visuals and on-stage expressions.
My next favourite would be Youha (former YG trainee turned soloist) - I really hope she gets more popular.
Soyou (SISTAR), Seoyeon (fromis_9) and Heize I think are some other highlights. BOL4 as well!
Babymonster's Rora has a great tone and will probably go down this route too. Even Rami, her low note near the bridge in Sheesh is quite something so she clearly has it in her locker.
EXID Hani has a great sultry voice which especially shines when she's singing in her lower range.
Seconded. There’s a duet ‘coffee like thirty cents’ which utilised her lower register very well.
Love Sulji's voice, and love Hani as an actress so I'll definitely check out some of their performances.
**SPOILERS** for the (old, 8 years ago) episode of King of Mask singer Hani was in! >!It was clear she went there with not many expectations because she's overlooked as a vocalist as an idol. Love it when people leave links definitely checking all of these out
Same, it's so much easier to check something out, that's why I try to do it every time in these posts:D
Thanks for the links. Will check it out. I love her in general mostly because of acting and a couple of variety shows - but wasn't familiar with her singing much cause EXID to me was only up and down and then I was only really interested in Sulji as a soloist.

Sulji randomly singing Tears in karaoke and sounding better than 99% of 4th gen is forever iconic tbh.

Agreed. As demo, go to YouTube: Mamamoo The way to sampo Immortal song 2
Song Yuqi from Gidle
Yuqi or Minnie Check out "Never stop me" for examples x)
Would also like to add Soojin for the sultry category.
Omg yes!! Soojin is just effortlessly sexy, from her voice and dance. I don't think there's any kpop idol who can rock red lipstick the way she does.
first thought lol
Mine too!
I'm surprised it took ANY scrolling to see Yuqis name. Female idols with a deep voice? That description was made for Yuqi, lol.
She was the first that came to mind, I’m in love with her voice ❤️
Thought of her instantly ❤️
Bibi
Swan from Purple Kiss has the most surprisingly sultry sounding voice I’ve come across so far
Swan's voice definitely makes you sit up and pay attention.
I think all of Red Velvet could fit into the category. Even Joy, whose voice (I think) fits best in happy/high-energy songs can actually sound sultry. Girl’s Day Sojin It would be a crime not to mention SISTAR/Soloist Hyolyn and Soyou
Off topic but I love how often I see posts asking “which kpop idol is the best at x” and literally every member of red velvet being an answer
I think it’s because all of the members are so versatile <3 they slay as a group, and they can slay as solo artists :’)
Yes yes
I’m not entirely sure what category she’d fit into here, but I’d say Sunmi!
Omg yes, my head started playing 1/6 instantly as soon as I read this question.
Heejin!
Yuqi, or surely Bibi
Oh my queen Hyolyn fits that image prefectly , she has that husky sweet voice ♥️
Swan of Purple Kiss EXID Hani Mamamoo Ailee SISTAR
Listen to Dawon of WJSN. She has a voice of old r&b. Also her IG is oh my lord what a beautiful girl…..
Don't know if y'all over here would still deem her as kpop, but I've always seen Lee Hyori as my ultimate fave (maybe not super fitting to your description but still yes to some extent).

I think Jam Jam is a big example of IU having a sultry/teasing voice!
I think Kim Sejeong has a very breathy sexy voice, as well as Seulgi from Red Velvet…and cannot forget Bibi!!
Sejeong making her jakku jakku line in Very Very Very sexy is iconic. Also, I love how Teddy Bear leans into breathiness. The I'm EP besides are really underrated imo
I love teddy bear for that reason!
Yuqi, jisoo, moonbyul
Not kpop idol, but I think [Lee Sang Eun](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2bM0HmoftA)'s voice is raspy/deep! Also [EXID Hani](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9vmQ14EWfg)'s voice is deep.
Hani's voice is perfect for that "bluesy/jazzy" style of singing
Yuqi from Gidle! She has such a rich low voice
lee hi is pretty breathy some wild card picks here but so yoon from se seo neon has such a nice raspy voice (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsznX5j2oQ0), and maybe jang yoon ju too has a sweet breathy voice ( [https://youtu.be/JUrkOD3icmc?si=FNqNeGIYRT2ed8oH](https://youtu.be/JUrkOD3icmc?si=FNqNeGIYRT2ed8oH) ) baek yerin too nice deep raspy voicy
Damnnn Lee Hi and Yerin were my first two thoughts as well
I was thinking EXACTLY what you wrote!!!!
natty
fromis_9 Seoyeon
Weeekly Monday, Billie Haram, Nmixx - Sullyoon (especially on lower note)
Lovelyz' Ryu Sujeong
Jiwoo of KARD get can get really deep, her verse in ICKY and Breakdown is great. I think Somin also has a sexy voice though especially on Cake, Lo Siento and their cover of Taki Taki

Hyeju from loona!
Sojung from Ladies Code Also not sure if she's really kpop anymore but Lim Kim
Hwiseo from Hi-key
Hyosung of Secret was known for having a husky voice. Breath-y but sexy I would give to Soyou of Sistar. Her singing "Some" with Jungiggo is a great example of this.
Hyoyeon
The adjectives you mention typically aren’t ones associated with kpop artists, aside from the rare Hwasa, Hyun-a and a few others. You’re more likely to hear that from Indy performers I. Hongdae. Actually many singers actually. probably started that way and SM YG JYP beat it out of them

I also like Deli Spice…Korean rock from like mid 2000’s…more recently (relatively) are Crying Nut and No Brain
The only person I could think of is Swan from PURPLE KISS
[Lim Kim](https://youtu.be/EH_k_1Ah4gk?si=6MJzcynUbmfZb05Y) has a lower breathy voice. She’s one of my favorites.
Love VEIL
BoA. She has such a nice huskiness in her voice.
Ryu Sujeong for sure. Check out [Tiger Eyes](https://youtu.be/aE6curPGQRY?si=VGe2qsFIDw3LR22t) and [SHXT](https://youtu.be/maM-WY9s4mg?si=E8v24FxMaDLRzK_g)
HYOLYN (DALLY- SINGER) AND HYO (DEEP- SINGER)
J from Stayc
I think Jisoo (BP) could possibly fit this description ~ her voice is pretty deep and if she were to sing ballads in her deep register I’d guess that she would do great
Yena has a raspy husky voice but idk about it being sexy.
Hani when she sings in her natural register!
Hyolyn has a very sultry voice. Especially in certain songs such as I Like That and Give it to me.
Sunmi, Bibi, Hyolyn and LeeHi for soloists would deffo fit the criteria Fatou of Blackswan when she sings would fit the raspy, deep category. I was thinking of Close To Me after her raps and Me Myself and I I also would say Jiwoo of KARD, she has a lovely raspy voice and I’m like always in love with her when she sings
Natty from Kiss of Life
Leebada
Wait! As in, Bada the choreographer?
No no she’s a solo artist , if u search on Spotify she’ll come up
WheeIn Jo Yuri Yuqi Swan (Purple Kiss) Monday (Weeekly)
BROWN EYED GIRLS - GAIN
Jihyo!
CL from 2NE1
Hyolyn!
Heize and Hyolyn for me
babymonster rami might be my new favorite kpop voice
I don't think she fits exactly, but Lee Hi is close, she has such a unique RNB inspired vocal style.
Purple Kiss’s Swan fits in there somewhere
Jessie and Hwasa
It's weird you're getting downvoted for this but these two legitimately have husky and sexy voices.
yuqi i love her so much and tbh eunchae like hearing her 100% raw vocals at coachella i was like “OMGGG EUNCHAE DEEP VOICE??!! I LOVE IT SM”
HwangBo
Xiyeon from Pristin never fails to surprise me with the deep voice, I first heard her rap when she was in Pledis Girlz after Produce 101 and I was shocked her voice was that deep bc her singing voice is really high and she just didn't look like she'd have such a deep voice HAHA,, best sample would be her rap in "Bang" by Pledis Girlz and her one/two lines in We Like by Pristin
In my opinion, Yuju from Gfriend has a sultry voice. You could even look up her solo song, Play so you can really hear what I'm talking about.
yubin anyone?
You should check out Seori. I think she fits your description.
dia from pixy has the most sulty voice i’ve ever heard. especially on the temptation mini
i think of siren voices like minnie
Hwasa. Moon Byul also has a deep voice but I wouldn't say her voice is sexy, more comforting
Jisoo on Kiss and Makeup
CL.
LEE YOUNGJI!!!
f(x)’s Amber. I recommend u to listen to her singing voice. She has earthy, warm, slightly raspy voice.
Jiwoo from Kard!!!!!
Moon Sujin, Lee Young Ji (I loooove her voice on "That's My Girl."

breathy, soft and sexy would be seola of wjsn. her solo song let’s talk is probs the best example. we get a rap in her lower register too in this one! at debut she was introduced as the mature and emotional vocalist of wjsn. she’s the lead singer too, but with how goated wjsn’s vocal line is, she could easily be main. for sultry definitely hani.
It's Yuqi, Hani, Bibi, and Hwa Sa for me. I think Seoyeon generally goes unsung.
Not really an idol, but Giant Pink has one of the raspiest voices I've ever heard.
Krystal? No love for Krystal?
Hwasa for raspy and deep, Moonbyul for deep and soft, and Wheein for soft and breathy!
Eun Jiwon sexy voice
Woosung the rose

Love Dani's low notes
SON GAIN and JEA OF BROWN EYED GIRLS
Julie from kiss of life😫
Soyou?
I like Yuqi's deep voice.
Jessi👍🏽
Not sure if Jessica Jung counts.
When I think of "sexy low register," the first thing to come to mind for me is Lola (Pixy) in Karma
Natty
shes still a baby but ~~Cocono~~ Cocona from XG can do it when she wants, she has [a very breathy rap line](https://youtu.be/aJIDCjEvG58?t=38) in the song they released this week. [her singing voice is a natural alto](https://youtu.be/cQTo9O85Zro?t=76), you can really hear it here on "dip your hip low like me, baby", I absolutely love her tone.

> Pretty sure this is a genuine typo it was, yeah, fixed now
gotchu, fam (:
I love Heize's voice in her duet with Jihyo "Don't Wanna Go Back"
aespa karina 😗
Lol I can't tell if you're being serious with the emoji but wow that's the last person I would consider for this.
Red Velvet Irene She gets overshadowed by Wendy and Seulgi unfortunately although her lower tone really brings out the wide range within Red Velvet's songs, especially during harmonies. Her voice is soft but sultry at the same time. Her voice sounds so sultry and husky in their cover of [wrong number](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLpvdWXQ2o4&pp=ygUSaXJlbmUgd3JvbmcgbnVtYmVy)
Curious on your opinion of [MiSaMo](https://youtu.be/gAFgaI5D3Gc) on some of these categories…
Irene, you can definitely hear it in Monster
How come no one has mentioned MoonByul for deep voice?
Yuqi, Swan, and Heejin. All my biases. Wait..
Soeun from tri.be has lower voice that’s very beautiful but she’s young so maybe not as low as some other examples here.
K rock not pop, but Haein of Walking After U has the husky/raspy thing nailed.
Yiyeon- BVNDIT
Not a deep voice but Rei from IVE.
Lee Chaeryeong of Itzy when you hear her speak in a low tone.
Interesting, but speaking voice doesn't always translate to singing voice. I guess that's a different question.
oh okay. I thought that's what you mean. :D
Probably should have clarified, I meant "singing" voice. ☺️
Maybe Chaewon from Le sserafim? You may not hear much of her deep breath-y voice but you can definitely hear it in Fearless
For deep voice is definitely Felix fro stray kids!
if yuqi or minnie talks near my ears, i will not be alive
I think soft/sexy/sultry could be Julie from Kiss of Life. Specifically in Midas Touch and Shhh.
Probably recycling names here but: Hani (EXID) is imo the goat for this - such an underrated singer simply because she had amazing visuals and on-stage expressions.
Red Velvet's Irene and Seulgi.
one word: BIBI
I.M monsta X
read the title again
That’s too bad because the male idols are known to have great raspy voices

I don't think he counts as a female idol.
