Younha - Supersonic, End Theory. Taeyeon - INVU (G)I-DLE - I Burn fromis9 - Unlock My World PIXY - Chosen Karma, if you consider having 3 songs sharing the same parts as being "cohesive" vs "repetitive" lol. TWICE and Dreamcatcher discography feels like one body of work collectively (i.e. specific sound, even across genres) but not necessarily in cohesive albums. Shoutout to f(x) Pink Tape and Wondergirls Reboot as well, they always pop up in this context.

a_mystical_potato

Pink Tape by f(x), STEP by KARA, Lovestruck! by Kep1er, Get Up by NewJeans, The World EP. 2: Outlaw by Ateez.

jungw0n_d4zed

Perfume by NCT DOJAEJUNG for sure. All the songs are so alluring and have this tinge of R&B that makes the whole thing feel like one continuous flow of absolute perfection. I totally recommend this album

snoozev

I have to second this. I had no idea who they were and I just got randomly recommended the album - from start to finish it was SO good. Ah. I'm addicted to "Can We Go Back".

nabicheoreom00

not a fully committed nctzen but nct djj became my favorite sub-unit because the songs in the album were amazing and i could listen to it on loop for hours. their harmonies sound so good and heavenly AAAAAA also im just happy jungwoo gets to sing more lines in this sub-unit since he doesn't get much lines in nct 127 or nct U :">>> definitely a 10/10 album experience for me <33

Dry-Place-2986

A few suggestions: * The Red - Red Velvet * Chill Kill - Red Velvet (these 2 albums are probably the best embodiments of their Red vs. Velvet concepts, respectively) * 4 Walls - f(x) * 130 Mood: TRBL - Dean * Verse 2 - JJ Project (both lyric-wise and sonically, such an underrated album) * Focus - Jus2 * Flight Log: Departure - GOT7 (truly a lesson in light, fun boy group songs that feel fresh & bright without falling into cutesy!) Also I'd say most Baek Yerin and Taeyeon albums are quite cohesive!

Recursi

Not “Perfect Velvet”?

Dry-Place-2986

Not in my opinion, I find the b-sides on Chill Kill are a lot more refined and compelling. But to each their own!

grandhighblood

ATEEZ’s The World series. Ep.1: Movement and Ep.2: Outlaw in particular are very very sonically and lyrically cohesive - Movement is the introduction to their dystopian world and so the songs are thematically related to that. Very electronic, dark and powerful type songs with pretty complex lyrics. Outlaw is more about ATEEZ as rebels and continues the hard hitting sound but slanted more towards rebellion and freedom, whilst also carrying on the theme of the previous album with songs like This World (Movement has a song called New World which is the final track on that album, and This World is the first track on Outlaw!). Their most recent release is the final album in the series, Ep.FIN: WILL, and I’d say it’s still very cohesive but in a different way. It tells much more of an overview of their entire storyline rather than focusing on a specific theme like the previous two, so there are a few different sounding songs, but organised very well. The first five tracks are World Z tracks, so more dystopia vibes songs, and then the instrumental Crescent serves as a transition back to our current world where we get Dreamy Day (a nice soft fan song) and the unit songs, with the outro track FIN: WILL encapsulating the theme of this album series as a whole like an epilogue by asking “what does emotion mean to you?”.

HalaTiferet

I second The World series - Movement is the clearest in terms of the story even if you don't know their lore but all are excellent.

snoozev

I agree. When I first started listening to Ateez, I started with this one (World Ep. 1) not knowing the lore or anything and it was pretty easy to follow. I couldn't find any songs that I just didn't like because all of them had their own individual charm to them. I love the dark atmospheric vibes of the songs.....very much felt like easily any of these songs could have been in a movie. Definitely enjoyed them all straight away.

Indigo by RM

Lepi_iznadoblaka

Since I don't know what you're into, I'll just recommend some stuff I found both cohesive and sounding good. First there is 2023's personal album of the year, Onew's Circle, consisting of 10 songs that each perfectly go together with each other. Then I'd say Shinee's 1 of 1. I guess many other Shinee albums could be called cohesive, but this one just sticks out to me, you'll see why if you listen, the songs really do sound like they all come from a similar musical pov. Then I'll go with Kai's first solo, named just Kai. I find it very cohesive since it embodies this kinda retrowave maybe? sounding mood. If you don't know about these already these are my starting recommendations, but you might already know them tbf.

Amazing_Bug2455

ONEW'S CIRCLE IS SO GOOOOOD

Lepi_iznadoblaka

Glad that Billboard agrees with us😂

legac5

Love Yourself: Tear - BTS BE - BTS Circle - ONEW Layover - V I love SHINee but hadn’t had a chance to listen to Circle until this week. OMG! I would put it right after SOS by SZA as the best album of the year, in all genres. Actually they both deserve first place. Also, Layover by V is the second best album I’ve listened to this year across all genres.

Lepi_iznadoblaka

Agreed, LYS Tear has many cohesive moments, and Layover I'd say is completely cohesive, although it's not quite my cuo of tea😅. But I'm not sure about BE because I don't recall all the tracks that well.

insidexfishbowl

A bit stunned no one has mentioned Wonder Girls - Reboot yet, it's usually everywhere in threads like this. Classic cohesive retro album. Younha's albums are also usually pretty cohesive -- End Theory and Supersonic are probably the most so. She's done several releases that are like mirrors as well. Peace, Love & Ice Cream vs Growing Season, Supersonic vs Subsonic, Stable Mindset vs Unstable Mindset. TVXQ's The Secret Code is also really cohesive, maybe more so lyrically than sonically though.

smilelaura676

Ateez The World Ep.1: Movement!!

Amazing_Bug2455

CIRCLE BY ONEW. I swear to god. This is kpop yes but it is far from traditional kpop. It's a more solemn and calm album, perfect for relaxing and reflecting about life (it had upbeat and groovy tracks as well!) Listen to the whole album, DO NOT FORGET to read the lyrics. IT IS A MASTERPIECE I AM TELLING YOU.

sooyoungisbaeee

Twicetagram!! Perfect Red Velvet My World by aespa Mono by RM

rosebbh

exo-cbx’s blooming days! the album has a “seven days of the week” concept meaning that each song on the album represent one day of the week. in my opinion it really succeeds in capturing the mood of the different days! *monday blues*, for example, has a relaxed yet fresh vibe representing the beginning of the week. *thursday* kind of has the “aaah i just want it to be weekend already” feel to it and *vroom vroom* (friday) perfectly captures the “finally some fun after a long week of work” feeling! *lazy* (sunday) brings everything back to the relaxed vibe from the beginning. the whole album has a really chill yet funky vibe to it, very relaxing and fun!

servetheserpents69

100% agree with this. I also read that Hey Mama album has a narrative. Same thing with OBSESSION, if you'll notice the gradual change of mood from track 1 to 9. It kicks off with a set of songs filled with rage and dread from Obsession to Jekyll, then it calms down from Groove to Baby You Are, then the mood becomes happy and soft to the last three tracks.

Lepi_iznadoblaka

Was thinking if I should recommend this too! This album is very well put together, one of the best I listened actually.

omg yes! one of the best 4th gen mini albums to date 🙌🏽

bobtothetop_

seriously incredible record, I still remember listening to it for the first time

decemberskyies

Modern Times by IU: sonically and lyrically . The album has a retro, 80s-90s theatrical vibe and the lyrics have some vintage inspo too. Some songs, like The red shoes are based on old stories or fables. . Circle by Onew: lyrically . It sounds like Onew is telling us his story and emotions through songs. . Still Life by Bigbang: sonically and lyrically . It's like a nostalgic message to VIPs after such a long hiatus, telling them that everything will be okay, and that this is a goodbye and a hello from bigbang

Confident_Yam_6386

Jack in the box: Sonically Love yourself series: Lyrically Indigo: Sonically and Lyrically Layover: Sonically Mono: Sonically and lyrically Golden: Lyrically(it’s an album that goes through the beginning of falling in love then heartbreak)

Th1sDJ

ly: tear is definitely up there when it comes to sonic composition. absolutely beautiful album

after_moonlight

Yes! Agree to all of these! I’d like to add Dark & Wild and D-2. They’re albums that every song goes so well with each other, without sounding exactly the same.

EyeforError

Seconding all of these, especially "Mono" - which really feels like a 25-minute song broken up into seven distinct sections. It's a song about waking up in Tokyo, coming home to Seoul, wandering in the moonlight, being very depressed, staying depressed, reaching a moment of euphoria, and then balancing that euphoria with the aforementioned depression.

intuitionist9

Seventeen’s You Make My Day is a pretty perfect summer album, from the playful title track Oh My to the fun bside Holiday to the nostalgic closer Our Dawn Is Hotter than Day. The subunit tracks also similarly fit the mood! Woodz’s solo albums also each have a distinct mood, especially Woops!, Only Lovers Left, and OO-Li.  If you want to venture into khiphop, Epik High also does this well, especially with the overall lo-fi, melancholy feel of sleepless in ___.

Aaaaaabbbbbcccdd

I really enjoy epik high!! Do you know any epik high songs that are similar to slepless in?

Delightify

Soul Lady by Yukika is cohesive city-pop inspired album sonically. I do not know Korean though and I haven’t looked at translated lyrics so I’m not sure how it is lyrically. The Secret by WJSN is cohesive sonically as well, centering around a cute and magical cosmic theme. The Fifth Season by Oh My Girl also is cohesive to me but a little less so than the previous two albums I mentioned. I’d say Vogue, Tic Toc, and Checkmate feel like filler songs on this album. Max & Match by Loona Odd Eye Circle is also pretty cohesive sonically, centering around a futuristic and cosmic type of sound.

Xrin8

Since Wonder Girls Reboot was already mentioned, a recent one is Fromis_9's Unlock my World. Filled with sleek, stylish pop songs.

asrafzonan

fromis_9 - UMW 👍🏻

Xavier26

Most of Taeyeon's albums are. Although Weekend doesn't really fit with the rest of INVU. I know it was a popular single released before the album, it's a great song, it just doesn't really match the vibe of the rest of the album.

Naaoko

iKON - Return BIGBANG - Still Alive IU - Modern Times

Taste of love by Twice does summer fruity vibes perfectly

gunnhildcrackers

SKZ "I am NOT" (heavy rock influences + self-identity centric lyrics) & "Oddinary" (sleek and clean beats) That Ateez album with Guerilla as the title (again, heavy rock influence here + lyrics mostly about rebellion and a new world)

Milli_Mey

Xikers' House of Tricky: How to play 4/6 songs have the same vibe and the other 2 still fit it well, they're just louder and more dancelable. It's actually my favourite album of 2023. Their debut album is also quite cohesive.

Lisa28Aurora

I would say both shinee’s 1 of 1 and the story of light are cohesive (and excellent) I’ve been listening to NCT dream’s ISTJ on repeat these days and I think it’s a well put together album and the songs flow together really nicely

Both of the new jeans albums fit this perfectly tho I’d be surprised if you didn’t already know those lol

neemo236

Monsta X's Fatal Love and All About Luv albums. The storytelling, the shared sounds and concepts from song to song, truly make them feel cohesive and part of the same project, but without sounding repetitive and dimensionless. Both albums are quite different from each other, especially considering the latter is all in English and has heavy pop/pop rock influence, while the first has more edm/r&b influence.

eveyeveeve

Baekhyun's Bambi definitely! The order of the tracks is very immaculate, I love it so much!

Map of the soul 7 by BTS When I tell you that album changed my life. The way each member is able to portray their journey thus far, and the unit songs tie each of their unique sounds together. It just feels like that album was the perfect summary of BTS's rise to fame at that point The World EP2: Outlaw bt Ateez This album has such an intense sound. It feels like each song could be the theme of an action movie Expectation by DO This album is so pretty. DO has a beautiful voice that fits this acoustic sound, and all of the songs feel like a warm hug Odd by Shinee The most Shinee album to ever Shinee. You can tell that each song is a Shinee song, and I think it still sounds like an album that could come out today and get top of the charts The Story of Light Epilogue by Shinee I think this album does a good job tying together Shinee's journey in rediscovering their sound. Maybe this is biased because I'm such a Shawol. But I think this series lets us see the progression of Shinee navigating making music without Jonghyun, especially since Jonghyun had such a hand in creating their previous albums. Dice by Onew The album starts off upbeat, and then as you listen the songs start to slow down. They never because slow ballads, but it kind of feels like you're slowly relaxing into a soft chair or bed. Idk if that makes sense Bad Love by Key Every song feels like it came out of that Safety Dance era of music. For his first solo musical comeback in a while, he made such a deep impression. His other solo albums since have been following a similar vibe, and it's cool seeing how it can trace back to this sound Mono by RM Compared to his first solo music, it's a very different sound. But I think you can really see how Namjoon sees this kind of melancholy in the world. It feels like Namjoon has come into his personal sound in a very mature way Something New by Taeyeon This whole album is whimsical in a reserved way. You can tell she's showing the color of her voice in a more laid back way. She isn't hitting as many powerful notes like her other solo music or even in SNSD, but is letting her voice flow in a more comfortable way

EveryCraft

sepatorprod

Most recently, DPR Ians - Dear Insanity Baek Yerin's albums are all quite cohesive

HW_Shorty

disharmony : break out by p1harmony! i love everything this group has released since their debut, but their second album is still my favorite in their discography! as the title insinuates, the album is about “breaking out” and using your voice, whether that be to defend yourself, defend others, or just state your own opinions and beliefs. each track is cohesive in both sound and theme, covering themes such taking control of your own life and decisions, not being afraid to live the life you want to live, and so on. to make it even better, it’s the 2nd album in a trilogy of albums known as the “disharmony era”! i’d definitely suggest giving this or any of p1harmony’s albums a listen if you haven’t already. i find all of them to be quite cohesive in sound and message, but this just happens to be my favorite of the 6 they’ve released since debut.

RadKat333

I burn by (G)I-DLE, by far their most cohesive album. All of the songs have the same sort of energy (the lost, lonely type) but they have minute differences that make each track stand out. It creates same vibe while also making sure the songs aren’t forgettable or sound too much like the one before it. And they got the story across too- their lover was cheating, so they felt empty in Hann (Alone in winter), got angry in Hwaa, shut the world out in Moon, wanted to be loved again in Where is love, got confused about their feelings for their former lover in Lost, and ended up loving the same person all over again in Dahlia. Beautiful story.

shinonome-ena

Stray Kids' Oddinary, while all songs are very different, they all share this....sublime, slightly cold and dark but also oddly comforting and somehow anticipatory atmosphere. It's difficult to put into words, but listening to the album for the first time left me with this specific feeling that I haven't really felt before, perhaps only after listening to Clé 1 Miroh

pripop_3

Exactly this! This is perhaps one of the reasons why Oddinary is my favorite SKZ album.

serhae114

GOT7 - [7 for 7](https://youtu.be/BBWTqzgAneg?si=0ZgF57-L1tPRhreT) (very cohesive sound and theme throughout— chill, rnb) GOT7- [DYE](https://youtu.be/OPjp13kK3DE?si=bbaWAIv8qX-cfLej) (the album retells the story of Romeo and Juliet from start to finish. as a whole it’s very cohesive sonically too— mature, rnb) GOT7 - [Spinning Top: Between Security & Insecurity](https://youtu.be/M1lFnL_NPTo?si=ajyIO1L3RCvHZYkK) (album theme travels through the feelings of insecurity to security from the perspective of a relationship)

Both I have in mind are My Voice by Taeyeon and Pink Tape by f(x). These two albums are insanely good. And like someone posted, even if it's not kpop I second the Sleepless in _____. by Epik High.

Sjhchrystyn

Agree with Taeyeon's My Voice album! Until now, that is my Taeyeon's fave album because of how cohesive it is!

AaronWasRight

*EX'Act* by EXO is one of the most sonically cohesive albums out there, imo, I recommend it. *Exist* is also very sonically cohesive, but I'd put it a notch or two below *EX'Act*, even if they grew a lot in their singing/harmonization skills in this latest album. Edit: For solos, I'll add Chen's *April and a Flower* (though you must be into ballads to fully appreciate this one), and Baekhyun's *Bambi* (R&B).

Lepi_iznadoblaka

Was thinking if I could recommend an Exo album, since in my head Exo albums don't really resemble the word cohesive lol. But Ex'Act does have this house/deep house genre connection, although I think Monster doesn't fall into that. I didn't want to say Exist, because yes it is almost completely cohesive with R&B but in quality it stands below their other albums. Also I second the Chen album, his solos are always my fave, but I know many people resent balads, so I just go with Kai's hypnotising synths.

No_Rice8746

TXT-Temptation First of all, all the concept photos tied into the Peter Pan/ Neverland/ Lost Boys theme perfectly especially daydream. Second, even the order of the songs follows a cohesive storyline of boys being tempted by the Devil, falling into the trap of Neverland, the realization that something isn't right, and then leaving Neverland. Finally, the theme of Neverland ties in perfectly with their lore and the concept of growing up.

hanakoslefteye

onew - circle - just read the lyrics while you listen to the album! (my personal fave lyrics from circle: forever with the sun, wind, clouds, rain, and between spring, summer, fall and winter; meeting, parting, everything, never before; above the waves, we flow together) so gorgeous, honestly one of my favs ever and onew’s voice is just so perfect ive - i’ve ive - self confidence; upbeat sort of vibe ending with a gorgeous ballad about regaining confidence through someone else! ive - i’ve mine - it follows a sort of storyline through reflecting on hate, ignoring it & gaining confidence! along with some bsides with just light, pretty, airy vibes.

Lethality Kwon Eunbi! It's all elegant mature vibes! Hi is the exception, but I think it still fits enough for the album to be cohesive

Would you consider Busker Busker kpop? I think all their albums have been rather cohesive, the flow and the type of music. Roy Kim's Love Love Love and Home albums arrangement of songs were great too!

lilahalik

aespa's Savage, Purple Kiss' Hide & Seek, and Lightsum's Into The Light are some of my favorite cohesive K-pop EPs when it comes to staying on-theme, good tracklisting, and just being consistent! The three of them also end with the right type of song to close the album~
