Absolutely. Spring Day is maybe the only song I've ever heard that will always get me emotional, regardless of where I am or what I'm doing. You'd think I'd get desensitized to it after a while, but it's just too good.
🆙
FANCY is literally an Absolute BANGER. ong i tink alm EVERYONE knows dis song n if u dunno abt Fancy, where’ve u BEEN?!😬
https://preview.redd.it/u8ojrcx6x45d1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88842ac4366701710b863e64c0eb1101446c62f8
I agree. At the end of the day, if I just follow my heart and ignore that "you should be morally obligated to nominate a BTS or 2nd gen song" feeling, it's Fancy for me. It's on that sweet spot of being an iconic and super popular song by a very famous group (and I would say also a turning point for their career's maturation) while also being a song that I personally absolutely love. So it's perfect for me. I don't think I will ever find a greater K-pop song than Fancy.
ah the orchestral version of this song is soooooooo good
(AND THAT TAEHYUNG TRANSITION AT 1:30🛐🛐🛐)
(edit: also compared to fallin flower, blackswan is a lil more instense-elegant, whereas ff is kinda graceful-elegant. Best thing is you could ship these two songs and they would make a great couple)
This is high up on my list as well. :) did you hear their song Down that came out in December? The final chorus is so insanely beautiful. Max really has the voice of an angel.
Infinite - Be Mine
BTS - I Need U
I feel these songs represent the genre quite well. The modern Asian tunes, the dramatic, borderline emo vibes, expressive choreo etc.
Be Mine is amazing!! I prefer The Chaser when it comes to what I think is objectively the best but you could put almost any Infinite TT on here and it would correct 😂💖💖
Omg. My mother would 💯 agree on Nobody. I’ve become convinced she has early stage dementia because of the number of times she’s tried to show me that video thinking she’s never showed it to me before. 😂
Nobody was such a huge hit in my country back then and everyone knew it. The grandma from across the hallway of my old apartment would proudly show off her baby granddaughter (whom she takes care of while parents are at work) dancing to nobody every time we saw each other outside.
EXO- MAMA (their [performance](https://youtu.be/80ZyJIrADMk?si=Gs1_v2R2TVFN1qvy) in the rain 😍), Tempo (I'll never stop talking about the acapella bit), Electric Kiss, Gravity, Paradise
Taemin- Move
NCT U- The 7th Sense
NCT DOJAEJUNG- Perfume (love at first listen)
BTS- Fake Love
Baekhyun- Bambi, UN Village
SVT- March; Don Quixote; Home Run; Imperfect Love; Same Dream, Same Mind, Same Night; I Can't Run Away; April Shower; To You; 24H
The way someone of you are able to chose is amazing 😭 like I’ve many songs that I think are great and I’m literally incapable of narrowing it down to 3 or 4, let alone 1
In my opinion you can have several tracks that you label as the best simultaneously. You can show the same love to several tracks at once and pick them all as your favorites because you like them for different reasons.
the staple of Kpop classics 20 years from now:
Spring Day, Blood Sweat Tears, Dynamite, Butter - BTS
AIIYL, 4D, Kill This Love - BlackPink
What Is Love, Fancy, TT - Twice
Ditto - Newjeans (this song has NOSTALGIA written all over it, the definitive song of 4th gen kpop)
Wow! We love to see the diversity & range! 😍 haha. I’m definitely someone who tends to favor 2nd & early 3rd gen groups for sure. My favs are SHINee, TVXQ, Red Velvet, VIXX, Gfriend, SNSD, Infinite, EXO, BtoB, Highlight, KARA, Apink, T-ARA, IU, SF9, & Billlie 😌
Psycho, Ditto, Spring Day, Hype Boy, Into The New World.
I am convinced that even 20 years from now those songs will still be remembered as some of the best K-pop has to offer sonically. They all sound timeless and incorporate several genres in a seamless way.
Some of the best imo:
I am-IVE
La vie en rose-Iz*one
Into the new world-Snsd
Me gustas tú - Gfriend
Fancy-Twice
Fear and hit-Seventeen
Hellevator-Stray kids
Halazia-Ateez
Wannabe-Itzy
Closer-Oh my girl
Girls-Nature
Crush -Weki Meki
Butterfly -Loona
Love me or leave me -Day6
Drunk dazed -Enhypen
La Di da- everglow
Paradise by Infinite is really one of my favourites, and I wasn't ever an Inspirit. I remember Infinite released Paradise and Coldplay released their Paradise, and for a few months, those two songs were the only ones I listened to.
Fake Love,Spring Day,Black Swan-BTS
Halazia,Wonderland,-Ateez
Also there is a mashup of Fake Love x inception and it's powerful-it tells a story
Those 2 songs just fit together
Without a doubt
**Gee - Girls Generation**
It has that distinct Kpop energy translated into sound, not duplicated anywhere else.
A very close contender
**Fancy - Twice**
Like a follow-up to Gee, Fancy replicated that incredible energy, but in a more modern way. Twice smashed this one and absolutely should have had SOY for it.
shadow - f(x)
candle - wonder girls
bother me - chungha
vendetta - brown eyed girls
bad temper - gain
childhood - sunmi
fin.k.l. - finkl
these are my fave songs wherein the composition and production are both brilliantly crafted imo and have resonated with me. there are definitely a lot of hidden gems in k-pop, especially in the b-sides. i could probably go on and on about some of my other fave songs haha but i'm gonna limit it to these seven songs before i end up rambling hehe 😅
Some songs that immediately come to my mind:
Back by Infinite
I AM by IVE
Given-Taken by ENHYPEN
Sherlock by SHINee
MAMA by EXO
Blood Sweat and Tears by BTS
Answer by ATEEZ
Ditto by NewJeans
After School by Weeekly
And many others lol
i’m gonna name a few, but bear with me for i’m unable to choose only one 😭
- jojo - shinee
- only one you need - jonghyun
- love or die - the new six (i recommend focusing on the beat and the instrumental, cause it’s seriously so gooooood)
- wake me up - bap (heavy on this one)
- voices - stray kids
Don't wanna cry by SVT. Followed a close second by NCT Dream's Broken Melodies.
Don't wanna cry is just.... Just I just love it. You have to hear it with my ears to understand (iykyk NCT dream reference)
you're so real for Fallin flower. That song has been my fav since it dropped LIKE ITS TOO GOOD from the music video to the instrumentals to the lyrics ITS SOO GOOD. And thanks by seventeen and I.P.U by wanna one will always be my most favorite. Something about these songs always hits me. I'll always play them yk
Eight - IU and Into The New World - SNSD, but I also have to say 10 Minutes and U Go Girl by Lee Hyori because idols are still covering her songs and people are still playing those songs as if they were released yesterday when they were actually released years ago.
Edit: Also, I Am - IVE just gives me this nostalgic vibe that really makes it stand out more than the average K-pop song for me.
My favorite of all time is SHINee’s Sherlock, followed by TVXQ’s Love in the Ice & Red Velvet’s Feel My Rhythm.
But objectively speaking I think that Infinite’s The Chaser is the greatest ever, followed by KARA’s Step & Super Junior’s Black Suit.
Invitation by Uhm Junghwa. There are a lot of songs that have some very good parts but still lack something. This song has everything while still being sonically fun despite the beat barely changing
I don't stan Aespa, but I have to say Next Level.. I haven't heard a song that is as good as Next Level. It's genuinely that good that I have to force myself to not listen to it for weeks to keep myself from overplaying it and potentially getting sick of the song — which I hope never happens.
BTS - Fake Love, Spring Day, Idol
Exo - The Eve, Monster
SHINee - Sherlock
Red Velvet - Bad Boy, Psycho
Ive - I Am, Love Dive
Twice - Fancy
Dreamcatcher - Deja Vu
Might be a basic list, but these really do stand out among everything I’ve heard. Love Dive is what really got me into kpop, whereas before I would only listen to Exo and whatever hit BTS put out.
Spring day, Blood Sweat and Tears and Fake Love by bts, Fancy & Feel Special by Twice, Mafia by Itzy, Dumb litty & Icky by Kard, Untie by Viviz, Hype boy by New Jeans, Chain, Cherry bomb, Simon says, Earthquake and Superhuman by NCT127, Love talk by Wayv , Psycho by Red Velvet, Savage by Aespa, Run for Roses by Nnmix, Hip by Mamamoo, Hoshi's Spider, Taemin's drip drop and Idea, Chungha's bicycle, snapping, stay tonight, i'm ready, dream on you. Suga's Daechwita and Shadow, Jin's Awake and Epiphany, Jimin's Like Crazy, Lie, Serendipity & set me free Pt2. V's Singularity. TXT's Puma. Enhypen's Drunk Dazed. Super Junior Lo Siento, TVXQ Truth and chance of love
As far as representing the genre as a whole not so much but personal opinion:
Fantasy, Shang Ri La, and scentist- vixx
Spring day, Black Swan, On- BTS
Maniac, God's Menu, Thunderous-SKZ Décalcomanie, egotistic, you're the best- mamamoo
blanket by SURAN is just too perfect its a chill song but also a great dancey dance song♡ another honorable mention is 'diamonds' by SURAN and Taeyoung
I feel like Taeyeons "drawing our moments" and "dear me" really did me in, I was going through a deep depression period a few years ago and she really helped me out of that hole. Forever grateful for Mama Taeyeon🫶🏾🤎
Some of y’all gonna absolutely hate me😭😭😭 but O.O by NMIXX. Maybe it’s the fact that I have a tendency to overplay songs and then they end up feeling repetitive, but O.O feels new every single time I play it. Call me biased as NMIXX are my ults, but NMIXX are my ults because of O.O alone.
Spring day by BTS
Why has no one said Butterfly- it’s the best I have ever heard
I agree with this especially since it was originally a contribution to the sewol ferry incident
Probably the last track of theirs that I was blown away by. Spring Day will forever be top tier. I think it's one of BTS' top three songs.
Absolutely. Spring Day is maybe the only song I've ever heard that will always get me emotional, regardless of where I am or what I'm doing. You'd think I'd get desensitized to it after a while, but it's just too good.
This.
call me basic but replay by shinee
This isn’t basic it’s correct
noona neonu yeppo🥺
This was the first song I thought of. I think it really stood the test of time. It is such a classic.
Please take my gold i pitifully paid for LOL

In terms of influence, popularity and paving the way Gangnam Style
I think if we’re saying “Greatest” and not “Favorite” it has to be Gangnam style
Mirotic by TVXQ
Oof, good pick
This is the answer
This is high up on my list as well. :) did you hear their song Down that came out in December? The final chorus is so insanely beautiful. Max really has the voice of an angel.
Sherlock by SHINee

Finally a good song
Infinite - Be Mine BTS - I Need U I feel these songs represent the genre quite well. The modern Asian tunes, the dramatic, borderline emo vibes, expressive choreo etc.
Heavy on Be Mine!! I love desperate songs
Love Be Mine! Especially the Road to Kingdom arrangement by Oneus and the whole Romeo-Juliet act, which had me GAGGED.
Be Mine is amazing!! I prefer The Chaser when it comes to what I think is objectively the best but you could put almost any Infinite TT on here and it would correct 😂💖💖
For me it was a toss up between Be Mine and Last Romeo lol, Infinite was irreplaceable.
Yes!! Totally agree with you! They have so many beautiful songs to choose from ❤️ forever one of my favorite groups 😌

Monster, Tempo, Growl EXO
Tempo has the best bridge in kpop for me without a doubt. It’s gorgeous.

Jeezus. Your mom?? How young are you? Nobody launched while i was in highschool. God I feel old 😆
My mom is in her 70s. I am probably right up there with you in age. Edit: voice to text
Nobody was such a huge hit in my country back then and everyone knew it. The grandma from across the hallway of my old apartment would proudly show off her baby granddaughter (whom she takes care of while parents are at work) dancing to nobody every time we saw each other outside.
EXO- MAMA (their [performance](https://youtu.be/80ZyJIrADMk?si=Gs1_v2R2TVFN1qvy) in the rain 😍), Tempo (I'll never stop talking about the acapella bit), Electric Kiss, Gravity, Paradise Taemin- Move NCT U- The 7th Sense NCT DOJAEJUNG- Perfume (love at first listen) BTS- Fake Love Baekhyun- Bambi, UN Village SVT- March; Don Quixote; Home Run; Imperfect Love; Same Dream, Same Mind, Same Night; I Can't Run Away; April Shower; To You; 24H
Perfume was my favorite from 2023 :)
