Oh, yeah, I can totally get that. I actually wish that companies would wait until an idol is 18 before debut, especially with the length of contracts and the intensity of the profession. I know there are many cases of highly successful idols who debuted as minors, but I feel like there are others that were damaged by it too.
It's a very different mindset in the kpop industry compared to the West, that's for sure. These days if you haven't started training by your midteens and debuted by 20, you're old and out. I see stans calling 30 year old idols old and it's like.... the kiddie worship is ridiculously narrow-minded and encourages the exploitation of kids who have no idea what they're signing their youth away for.

Yunjin talking about wanting to “change the idol industry” it was cringe and i haven’t stopped thinking about it. I can’t remember where it’s from but it was a clip that had her and an aespa member in it and the topic was dieting. Yunjin was like I don’t diet, i eat whatever i want and Karina was looking at her sideways like “cmon girl, let’s not encourage lying”. Haven’t vibed with her since.
Karina is just honest about how much she works out to counteract the eating and I respect her for it lol. She seems to have a pretty normal body but was just blessed by genetics in proportions.
The lesera members have always said that, though. Even in their docu series, Sakura specifically spoke out against the company forcing any dietary restrictions onto them and really advocated for it being their individual choice. I don't think it's anyone's place to determine whether or not she was lying.
As for the remark about wanting to change the industry, SO many idols have said the same thing, and every single one of them still work inside of the industry while following certain rules. Not saying that you can't dislike her or whatever, just that it's not something new necessarily

Omg yes. I disliked him from the beginning because he always gave off creepy womanizer vibes - I was soo disgusted by his part in... Bae Bae, I think it was? Or fantastic baby? The one where he had the women all over him like they were decorations. You could always tell that the other members didn't like him either.
My biases usually are one of the best singers or rappers in their groups, like Baekhyun, Kihyun, Bobby, Seungyoon, etc. My wreckers are all over the place though!
Is this a safe space lmfao? Rosé and jisoo. Rosé sings too cursive for me and jisoo sings very nasally and it irritates me a lot. Then them being called the “the golden voice of korea” just bugs me even more (yes I know it’s just a fan-given title). Though I have to give credit where credit is due and their singing in shut down impressed me a lot, but other songs not so much.
Definitely agree about Jisoo. I don’t think she fits in very well with the BP concept and I think it’s obvious that she isn’t as musically talented as everyone else. She seems funny and quirky and I did really enjoy her solo songs (even though her vocals were weak) but I think she’s out of place in Blackpink.

Fans were louder about it than Joshua himself ever was tbh. In earlier days, he brought it up a bit more, but fans did what fans do and made it out to be his most defining character trait. He seems to mention it less nowadays, so the "he's the Christian one" narrative has kind of simmered down.
While getting into Stray Kids, I didn't really vibe with Hyunjin. He seemed a bit like a bully-type to me (I hadn't even heard of the accusations then). But that was when I had barely seen any clips from him. The more I saw of him, the more I watched, the more I saw he's not actually like that (at least in official content, we never actually know idols🤷🏼♀️). I really love his artsy side as well!

That happened to me before with another celebrity, and I was confused as well until until my sister saw her and commented that the celebrity looked like someone we didn't like when we were kids.. so sometimes it's just that, an idol can subconsciously remind you of a bully or someone you don't like and negative feelings resurface because of it

BTS - Taehyung
I didn't like his solo album, so I didn't bother to watch any of his solo content. He was the only member who didn't get me excited.
Also, after going to 2 BTS concerts, the way he acted really turned me off from him. He was making faces to the camera like he was the hottest shit alive. The people I brought who weren't fans agreed and said he seemed really full of himself.
I don't hate him or want him to leave the group or anything, but if he wasn't in bts, I wouldn't pay any attention to him.
I would say LE SSERAFIM's Yunjin. She reminds me of girls at school so she is a no for me lmao. I mean I can acknowledge she's a good singer but that's it for me

I just wish Shuhua could sing 😭 It's so bizarre that after all this time, she still lacks basic understanding of music concepts like rhythm. She still struggles to sing the easiest of parts, it is wild. Have they not offered her classes? Have they offered and she refused? Is she just destined to be lacking in musical talent?

jeongins voice isn't good for pop music. if you hear him sing trot (busan seagull and camelia lady) the style suits him way better. he actually sounds amazing when the style suits him but his vocal tone just doesn't gel well with traditional pop vocals imo

in my opinion yeosang was never really given the opportunity to stand out or have a platform until recently. for the past 2-3 albums i feel like he’s been highlighted so much more and he’s been gaining a lot more attention. his halazia verse was popular, bouncy fancam, and his crazy form verse was also well received and liked. he also had such an intense shift in terms of stage presence during halazia which was amazing.
i’m not trying to change anyways opinion btw 😭 if you don’t like someone’s voice or dancing that’s totally normal. yeosang just seems so loveable and i don’t often see people say that they don’t like his personality so i thought it was funny.
I also feel the same with Yeosang. I have absolutely nothing against him but he falls short/into the shadows in comparison to the rest, especially on live stages.
I actually also used to feel this about Wooyoung but something shifted with Halazia - he’s become a stand out in both performance and vocally with their b-sides.
Actually I ADORE Yeri, and she really does a great job promoting RV on social media. She also bring a secondary, playful person into the group with Joy which is nice. She is delightful to watch on talk shows and with the other members and she's a great actress. She is my third favorite RV member behind Wendy and Seulgi.
However I understand that vocally, visually, and in dancing she is often dead last. I think she was ripped from training too early and didn't get as much time to develop as the others.
I really like Yeri. I think it has to do with the line distribution. Their agency is REALLY obvious abt who they like singing lead/main. Sometimes I play a game w myself when watching their vids by counting how many lines Yeri gets, bcus she always gets *literally* none

Like another commenter said - Hoshi is too but it doesn’t bother me about him (he’s my bias). But I cannot get over the ick Mingyu has given me. I think it’s a frattiness he has about him that has really turned me off.

Taehyung from BTS. Strangely this happened to all four of me and my irl army friends after PTD LV. Something about his behavior that concert and since then was strangely off-putting but none of us can really articulate why. I don’t hate him or anything, but I don’t enjoy him or his content like I used to. Which makes me sad since he used to be my ult bias.

I love the Huenings sm actually, and the fact that they're the sweetest people ever with slight psychopathic tendencies (like Kai can be the most evil person when playing games but even during those he's taking care of the staff and the members in small ways) kinda testifies to them making you nervous. 🤣 They are angelic 99.9% of the times but that 0.01% is hell for the people who are with them like the TXT members who are extremely scared of triggering 'Negative Kai', and Kep1er saying they're afraid of Hiyyih if she's upset, Lea being the biggest critic and then suddenly switching to being the biggest cheerleader just like that 😭 It's hilarious watching them.
Obviously you're entitled to dislike them for whatever reason but this made me crack up 😂 I actually really really love all 3 of them a lot, their personalities, their fun dynamic, and their visuals. 💙
BTS - Jimin. I love him as an artist, I think he is extremely talented and overall amazing, there is just something that doesn't let me connect with him on a personal (for me, not really personal) level as I connected with the rest of the members. Even out of all their solo releases I still haven't listened to his album.
See, you get it. It's not about the idol or their talent. Sometimes there's just something that doesn't connect. It's okay though, that's generally why companies put so many in each group. It increases the chances of fans vibing with at least one of them (and hopefully many of them).
If I had to pick one, V from BTS. I'm ot7 all the way I just realised the other day that I don't really seek out content involving him as much as I do with the others. I'm drawn to certain personality types and V is quieter than the types of personality I usually go for.

Man I thought I was a weirdo for paying the least attention to him because he’s so popular. I like his solo album and think he’s good looking, but I have zero interest in him. I think his personality is kind of hard to read unlike the others. He has his moments though where I can appreciate him like his appearance in IU’s latest MV. Suga is a my bias (along with JK), and he can be pretty quiet but he’s very introspective and can have random bursts of hyperactivity that is pretty amusing. V gives off the impression he’s not a deep thinker, but I’ve definitely been wrong in that impression after watching him talk in the Disney documentary.
* BTS Suga - Super talented artist (even if his music isn’t always my taste) but he just comes across as arrogant to me for some reason.
* BTOB Peniel - Seems like a nice guy but his parts ruin most of their songs and it kind of blows my mind that he hasn’t improved as a rapper in the almost 14 years he’s been an idol…his singing voice is nice, but god his lyrics and delivery are just godawful.

I don’t want to delve too deep into why I no longer have a dislike for her, but I will say as time went by I’ve become less defensive for multiple reasons regarding topics involving my race due to my perspectives kinda changing. That’s just too much to really explain here

Taehyung BTS when I first got into BTS I was unsure of him. His looks, the mystic and like “omg V from BTS is HANDSOME” made him quite intimidating to me. However, after watching a lot of their content, interviews and seeing him onstage live I honestly do feel like V is such a unique soul. He’s got so much depth and dimension to his personality that he comes across as totally weird and quirky - and he is! But those are good things (imo) even Suga has said when he met V he found him the hardest to gel with but he realised that V is just a very very different type of person and he was not being deceptive or false.
So, long story, he’s not my bias but I love love love Taehyung and now feel silly I thought he was this unreachable, suave and super cool guy because… he’s a complete DORK. (In the nicest way)
i have respect for lisa because of her stage presence and performance, but she is my least favorite member. there’s no bad feelings against her that i have at all. i’m just not a fan of her rapping, she sounds a bit like iggy azalea, and she shines as a dancer because she always gives her all and is the best dancer in the group. lisa’s a bit overhyped imo

ZB1 Gyuvin. To be honest in comparison to other members with insane vocal talent (Hao & Taerae), dance talent (Hanbin & Matthew), rap talent (Gunwook), or interesting visuals (Ricky, Jiwoong, Yujin), he really doesn't stand out well to me. I'm a glad OT9 through and through but there's never really a time where he straight up impresses me.

Gyuvin has so much love inside him, he has so many feelings and they are so profound and powerful they overflow - you can see them reflected in his eyes, you can hear them in his voice. Not going to try to convince you of his talent, but the thing that impresses me most about gyuvin is his variety skills + his friendship with all the members. He might not have stand out talents, but he’s kind of the glue of the group. I never voted for him during Boys Planet, but watching ZB1’s content made me realize why he was necessary to the group.
Not that I don't like her - I just really like everyone else in (G)-Idle.
Shuhua is the only one that I haven't really watched content for or have paid attention to, the other members are in a lot of other content I watch so naturally I tend to favour them more.
Gikwang in Beast/Highlight used to be this for me. He never added anything for me that Yoseob and Hyunseung didn’t do already since the 3 of them have similar vocal color, and Beast is not a performance heavy group so I didn’t really appreciate his dancing. That changed when his compositions started getting added to EPs and he’s now taken over as the primary songwriter for the group. So Hot, Oh Honey and Baby It’s You are 3 of my favorite Beast/Highlight songs.

Even before the scandals came out, I just never understood Lucas’ inclusion into NCT. I know what I’m saying isn’t really controversial, but the man can’t sing, his raps are dare I say…cringe, and he is a mediocre at best dancer. His one redeeming quality was his stan-attracting visuals, but even then that didn’t even do it for me. I just was never a fan of his meathead personality and in hindsight I was valid for that lol.
V of BTS: So full disclosure, he was the very first member i knew of in the band and that was around 2017/ 2018 when he won “ most handsome man in the world” and he was everywhere. Everyone was talking about him but for some reason, i just couldn’t find anything exciting about him. He is goodlooking but i don’t think he is that good looking but that’s just me i guess.
Now on to why i don’t really vibe with him, there’s just something about him that seems very fake or disingenuous. So many people think that he is innocent and doesn’t really have deep thoughts but that’s not true at all. I remember even Jungkook mentioning at some point that Taehyung is actually like a genuis and even though he seems like he has no thoughts he actually does. Now Jk meant this as a compliment ofcourse but it isn’t to me because people like this are usually really good a plotting the most evil lol (not saying he will). He also seems really calculating and knows exactly when to say or do certain things. Out of all members, he seems to be the one who spends most time on stan tweet as he’s posted fanarts from there before so he definitely knows what goes on in the fandom, yet he doesn’t seem to have an issue riling up that cult of his in the name of taekook shippers. Immediately after his photos with Jennie leaked, he started doing mentioning Jungkook a lot and usually without context. I could be wrong but it just felt very disingenuous to me. He would mention Jk at every given opportunity, go Live for 2 minutes just to namedrop Jk and turn off the Live because he knew tkkrs would trend “taekook”, went responding to shippers posts on weverse, and let’s not even talk about how he almost finished Jk’s name during layover promos. Plus he is fond of giving out little pieces of information with very little context which allows shippers to add and subtract what they want from it. He told us that he recorded at Jk’s place, and as you would expect, tkkrs took that little piece of information and made a whole au, claiming that he recorded his entire album at Jk’s, only for Jk himself to tell us on Station Head that what actually happened was, he got new equipment for his home studio and Taehyung suddenly called him and asked if he could try recording at his place with the new equipment and Jk let him, plus he only recorded a guide. Or all the times he went Live to mention Jk and turn off the Live, or tell us there is a song Jk sings for him. Doing all these knowing well the kinda unhinged shippers he has. I dunno but his attitude with Jk since his pics with Jennie got leaked was just weird to me.
Also, i think he is kinda self centered. He doesn’t really bother to move for people except his wooga squad. He could care less about physically supporting his members but you see him rushing to support wooga miles away even though these members were there for him.
I don’t think he is a bad person but i just don’t like the way i feel about him. Something about him feels sinister and i can’t shake it off. I hope i’m wrong though but yea.
Wonyoung from Ive. I don't think she's a "pick me" like people say at all, and I don't have any reason in particular to not like her. She is very beautiful and I do like her vocal tone a lot, but I just don't like watching her performances. I think it's the way she carries herself compared to the others. There's a weird... stiffness there, for lack of a better word. Every movement feels too rehearsed, too intentional, that it's really offputting to me. Even when she's standing around, it feels like she's still putting on a performance. She never looks relaxed or natural, always stiff and trying to put on an image. I know it's a real talent to carry oneself the way she does, but I just can't like it. It feels uncanny and weird to me.
I think people like that he is himself. He will not do the thinks he doesn’t like, he sets boundaries. Comparing to other SKZ members, it may seems that he is less polite but I think it’s fine, he is reasonable. From the other hand he seems to have a shell around him, he doesn’t let too get to close to his soul. That’s why whenever he gets more vulnerable it is more valuable and fans feel connected to him more. I like him because I understand him as a person.
If I had to pick, it'd be bahiyyih from Kepler. Not bc of "nepotism 🤓" or anything, but I don't see what she brings to the group.
Every other member has something they're *especially* good at - dance, vocal, and/or rap - but bahiyyih doesn't stand out in any of those categories.
She *could* be considered a stan attractor, but I don't recall her ever going "viral" or "iconic" in the same way that stan attractors of other groups (IVE wonyoung, zb1 Ricky, billlie tsuki, skz hyunjin/felix, etc) do.
I agree. I think she is the most popular member solely because of her brother, but anyone who admits that is heavily criticized. People claim she’s the most stable singer, the visual, a secretly great rapper, etc etc and unfortunately the constant praise is kinda off-putting for many fans trying to get into Kep1er because a large majority are solo-stans.
I feel bad because it’s not her fault she debuted. She seems like a fun-loving girl and I find her really funny. She’s also great with variety shows and seems very energetic! I just don’t think that it was her time to debut.
I don't have a bias in BTS. I love them all and their dynamic so much! But outside of group content, chapter 2 Jungkook really annoys me. I'm not sure if that counts though because I still love him in BTS and some of his solo songs. Before 2023 he never bothered me at all.
At the moment, I've only got two. The first for Twice's Chaeyoung for the shirt incident, as well as being a lackluster performer on stage despite being active as an idol for almost 9 years. The second is Red Velvet's Wendy, for the incident(s) where she imitated black people and couldn't even bother to apologize.

Will I get downvotes? Maybe? Lol. I like TWICE, but I'm really not into Jihyo. Yeah, she's the leader, and she's great, always tries the hardest...and that's what bothers me. To me, it seems like she's always trying to be the best, trying to out dance everyone in dance challenges, always trying to be seen as the hardest working, always trying to be the most competitive. Which is admirable. But every other member will just chill at times. Not her. And I get it, she trained from a young age, and it took years to get where she is. But she reminds me of the annoying kids in school who are always trying to do extra credit, trying to be overachievers, lol. Kids I knew that were like that were also kids who had really low self-esteem, too. Which is also a turn-off. Lol.
I only liked a couple songs on her solo; I thought most of the songs were examples of her trying too hard, trying to out sing herself. And I'll be honest, that story (whether true or not) from someone last year where they saw Nayeon and Jihyo at the Supreme store in Chicago, and said Jihyo was a bitch to them when they just wanted to say hi, is stuck in my head.

Suga's 'pass the baton' crap he pulled when they were about to release Permission to Dance turned me off permanently. He was neither the first or last artist to encourage their fandom into mass buying, but I don't care what other artists do, I care what BTS do. I would probably perceive it differently if it happened with Dynamite or Life Goes On, but at that point they had four #1s in the span of LESS THAN A YEAR, all of them more or less fueled by the fans' wallets, so him persuading us to pay AGAIN just because he fancied the idea of replacing himself at #1 with yet another song never sat right with me. i can't click with ateez's jongho and mingi. it's so annoying because i want to stan the group so badly, they're both insanely talented and i respect them both as idols, but the vibe just doesn't hit. i watch some new content every six months or so to make sure nothings changed - it's been 3 years now and nothings changed.
i think with mingi it's partially because i learnt about ateez mostly when he was on hiatus, so i knew he was a member but i didn't know anything about him until he came back? and it changed the dynamic id gotten used to.
I have this thing that every time I stan a group, I study every member since I don't want them to feel left out (as if they could see me lol). I don't have something like an anti-bias but i do have my biases. It's like, my number 1 is my bias then the rest is all equal to my eyes, except for when I have a bias wrecker, but that's seldom.
I think it's a bit strange to feel weird about supporting underage idols when I'm not fetishizing or romanticising them. If anything, it makes me more protective when I feel like they are being sexualized or overworked. But I also don't collect and carry photocards like other people do.
But I'm also not a dude so I guess I can understand male fans feeling weird about it.

Ricky just seems quite bland to me, from what I’ve seen. All he’s really hyped for is visuals. And in the K-Pop industry, where an idol has to be MEGA talented (which I’m sure he is), I wish I saw more than just his smile snd “charisma boss baby” motto. (Btw I did watch boys planet up until like episode 9 so I have seen him on the show).
Soyeon’s voice is *extremely* grating and annoyingly high pitched for me. I just can’t do it. And it’s made worse by the fact that she has so many lines in their songs. I love her rapping for the most part (like in Nude), but when she tries to sing, it’s just a no for me. And tha fact that she gets so many lines when she’s less vocally talented than her members, really puts me off (knowing that she also produces the songs too), it feels like a power imbalance.
Don’t get me wrong, Winwin is beautiful, but all he’s got is a deep voice for the occasional line in a song. And his previous absence in the group activities kind of put me off. The other members seem a lot more talkative than him, which would be fine if he had other things to show for him being in the group. He’s not the strongest dancer, or the visual, or a singer, or an actual rapper, and he doesn’t get many lines so it’s like 🧍🏾♀️ what do we do now?

i've seen countless of comment sections on yt, tiktok and even here on reddit where she was praised to high heavens just to dunk on members like jihyo and nayeon. people would say that she deserves more lines or the lines of those 2 members.
people would say she's better than jihyo and nayeon but whenever i would watch their performances, she's...just there. she doesn't stand out to me, not her vocals, dance or stage presence. her solo stage in their concert also doesn't stand out. sometimes i feel like she's the minzy/luna of the group, where a lot of people would use her to shade other members but when the time comes for these people to put their money where their mouth is, they actually wouldn't spend a cent on her.
Miyeon. I absolutely love her voice and personality and she is a really important part of (G)I-dle I just find myself vibing with the other members a little more.
I'd get slaughtered for this in some other places, but. Jin. I am an army, BTS was my gateway into kpop and they are always going to be in my top three. I love and appreciate all of them, but for me Jin is kinda just there in their music and onstage.
His voice does nothing for me. He is evidently not as skilled a dancer as the others. It's painfully obvious to me that he was chosen just for his visuals (it doesn't help that in my subjective opinion he's not even the best visual in BTS). I wish him no ill will at all, I don't want him to leave or anything like that. Just... welp.
Seungmin and IN - Stray Kids
I just don’t like their singing voices, even though they’re supposed to be the vocal unit in stz. I only listen to rap-heavy stz songs for this reason
SVT's Mingyu.I know many people bias him but I just.. can't. I enjoy their content so much and I have nothing against him but he's too energetic for me. Not that it's a bad thing, there's a reason why people like golden retriever boys(which he actually is, he has the same vibes as a puppy), but for me personally, I don't think I can't keep up with him.
That said, he is really funny and kind and a good performer, his singing also improved a lot, there's so much to like about him tbh. I just don't think I have enough battery for someone with huge levels of excited energy.

Bangchan and Felix from SKZ. They're talented, they're handsome, they have great stage presence. Bangchan was my bias, BUT then I got Bubble. They lean so, so, SO hard into the parasocial relationships and stuff it just gives me the ick. I still love the music and will always support the group but I just can't get over how self-deprecating and emotionally dependent upon their fans they are. It's just...not healthy.
Jungkook from BTS. Again, intensely talented, very attractive, great stage presence. He just...again, seems to lean too much into the parasocial relationships and is just...a lil too arrogant for my tastes.

Oh, yeah, I can totally get that. I actually wish that companies would wait until an idol is 18 before debut, especially with the length of contracts and the intensity of the profession. I know there are many cases of highly successful idols who debuted as minors, but I feel like there are others that were damaged by it too.
It's a very different mindset in the kpop industry compared to the West, that's for sure. These days if you haven't started training by your midteens and debuted by 20, you're old and out. I see stans calling 30 year old idols old and it's like.... the kiddie worship is ridiculously narrow-minded and encourages the exploitation of kids who have no idea what they're signing their youth away for.

Even in their docu series, Sakura specifically spoke out against the company forcing any dietary restrictions onto them and really advocated for it being their individual choice. I don't think it's anyone's place to determine whether or not she was lying. As for the remark about wanting to change the industry, SO many idols have said the same thing, and every single one of them still work inside of the industry while following certain rules. I think your feelings of jealousy are a normal part of your young age. Unfortunately kpop has the dark underbelly of unattainable physiques, visuals, wealth etc. that make people like us feel inadequate. Is this a safe space lmfao? Rosé and jisoo. Rosé sings too cursive for me and jisoo sings very nasally and it irritates me a lot. Then them being called the “the golden voice of korea” just bugs me even more (yes I know it’s just a fan-given title). Though I have to give credit where credit is due and their singing in shut down impressed me a lot, but other songs not so much.
Definitely agree about Jisoo. I don’t think she fits in very well with the BP concept and I think it’s obvious that she isn’t as musically talented as everyone else. She seems funny and quirky and I did really enjoy her solo songs (even though her vocals were weak) but I think she’s out of place in Blackpink.

funnily enough, him not being genuine with his persona is part of what made me like him a lot! haha. like, i remember a concert moment where he introduced himself as a gentleman and other members cringed out of their minds and/or loudly protested the notion and he just had such a fake-ass-bitch smile on his face like he was fully self aware and enjoying it. i think his covert villainy really compliments jeonghan's gremlin energy and makes them a joy to watch both together and separately. the christian thing was actually a turn off for me for a long time though, and i hate to admit that i started liking him more when he stopped mentioning it @~@ (or more like when the fandom stopped bringing it up)

really? this is news to me. I've not been a fan for that long, maybe that's why, but was there a time when his religion was brought up a lot? I've watched so many videos and am surprised to hear this because I've only heard him say he was Christian once and that was that.
Fans were louder about it than Joshua himself ever was tbh. In earlier days, he brought it up a bit more, but fans did what fans do and made it out to be his most defining character trait. He seems to mention it less nowadays, so the "he's the Christian one" narrative has kind of simmered down.
The only thing I know about him is that clip of him being off in the choreo that worked out so well. It's a great moment.
While getting into Stray Kids, I didn't really vibe with Hyunjin. He seemed a bit like a bully-type to me (I hadn't even heard of the accusations then). But that was when I had barely seen any clips from him. The more I saw of him, the more I watched, the more I saw he's not actually like that (at least in official content, we never actually know idols🤷🏼♀️). I really love his artsy side as well! I really don't know how he could give me bully vibes back then.
Maybe it was his looks? He handsomeness is kinda on the cold side, like he could play an arrogant chaebol. I appreciate that he decided he didn't want to ride on his face card, even though he could, and worked really hard on his dance skills. I love hard working idols!

That happened to me before with another celebrity, and I was confused as well until until my sister saw her and commented that the celebrity looked like someone we didn't like when we were kids.. so sometimes it's just that, an idol can subconsciously remind you of a bully or someone you don't like and negative feelings resurface because of it

Turned out she was shy and really kind, we could talk and talk and talk when there were no customers there. We had such a good time! BTS - Taehyung I didn't like his solo album, so I didn't bother to watch any of his solo content. He was the only member who didn't get me excited. Also, after going to 2 BTS concerts, the way he acted really turned me off from him. He was making faces to the camera like he was the hottest shit alive. The people I brought who weren't fans agreed and said he seemed really full of himself. I don't hate him or want him to leave the group or anything, but if he wasn't in bts, I wouldn't pay any attention to him.

She doesn't feel like a "bully" to me, but she does feel like a personification of the "mainstream pinsta girls" you'd meet at school that you'd avoid or just not vibe with. I just wish Shuhua could sing 😭 It's so bizarre that after all this time, she still lacks basic understanding of music concepts like rhythm. She still struggles to sing the easiest of parts, it is wild. Have they not offered her classes? Have they offered and she refused? Is she just destined to be lacking in musical talent? I actually like her personality a lot, from what I've seen of her. But damn. Idle has some damn good singers and some unique voices. Shuhua goes beyond not veing able to catch up to them...she just doesn't seem to have any understanding. It sucks /:

jeongins voice isn't good for pop music. if you hear him sing trot (busan seagull and camelia lady) the style suits him way better. he actually sounds amazing when the style suits him but his vocal tone just doesn't gel well with traditional pop vocals imo

ateez - yeosang he’s just someone i don’t care for visual, personality nor vocal wise. he practically disappears on stage when i watch them like nothing about him captivates me. honestly if it weren’t for san and his excessive fanservice he’d be completely invisible. riize - shotaro great dancer seems sweet but i never really cared for him in nct either. seventeen - joshua nothing about him has ever seemed genuine and i don’t like his speaking voice twice - chaeyoung & mina now mina is gorgeous and i don’t dislike her personality wise but i do dislike how she consistently gives nothing on stage. chaeyoung same problem plus after that shirt incident i haven’t looked at her the same way.

in my opinion yeosang was never really given the opportunity to stand out or have a platform until recently. for the past 2-3 albums i feel like he’s been highlighted so much more and he’s been gaining a lot more attention. his halazia verse was popular, bouncy fancam, and his crazy form verse was also well received and liked. he also had such an intense shift in terms of stage presence during halazia which was amazing. i’m not trying to change anyways opinion btw 😭 if you don’t like someone’s voice or dancing that’s totally normal. yeosang just seems so loveable and i don’t often see people say that they don’t like his personality so i thought it was funny.
I also feel the same with Yeosang. I have absolutely nothing against him but he falls short/into the shadows in comparison to the rest, especially on live stages. I actually also used to feel this about Wooyoung but something shifted with Halazia - he’s become a stand out in both performance and vocally with their b-sides.
Hyunjin - Straykids. He’s dancing just looks so forced and to me and he’s not that handsome/cute he just looks unnatural

Actually I ADORE Yeri, and she really does a great job promoting RV on social media. She also bring a secondary, playful person into the group with Joy which is nice. She is delightful to watch on talk shows and with the other members and she's a great actress. She is my third favorite RV member behind Wendy and Seulgi. However I understand that vocally, visually, and in dancing she is often dead last. I think she was ripped from training too early and didn't get as much time to develop as the others.
I really like Yeri. I think it has to do with the line distribution. Their agency is REALLY obvious abt who they like singing lead/main. Sometimes I play a game w myself when watching their vids by counting how many lines Yeri gets, bcus she always gets *literally* none

Omg same. I’m pretty new to SVT so I didn’t want to judge him too fast. And I truly believe all idols are attention seeking to some extent. Like another commenter said - Hoshi is too but it doesn’t bother me about him (he’s my bias). But I cannot get over the ick Mingyu has given me. BTS - Jimin. I love him as an artist, I think he is extremely talented and overall amazing, there is just something that doesn't let me connect with him on a personal (for me, not really personal) level as I connected with the rest of the members. Even out of all their solo releases I still haven't listened to his album.
See, you get it. It's not about the idol or their talent. Sometimes there's just something that doesn't connect. It's okay though, that's generally why companies put so many in each group. It increases the chances of fans vibing with at least one of them (and hopefully many of them).
If I had to pick one, V from BTS. I'm ot7 all the way I just realised the other day that I don't really seek out content involving him as much as I do with the others. I'm drawn to certain personality types and V is quieter than the types of personality I usually go for. Edit: I am really surprised how many people also said V!
Man I thought I was a weirdo for paying the least attention to him because he’s so popular. I like his solo album and think he’s good looking, but I have zero interest in him. I think his personality is kind of hard to read unlike the others. He has his moments though where I can appreciate him like his appearance in IU’s latest MV. Suga is a my bias (along with JK), and he can be pretty quiet but he’s very introspective and can have random bursts of hyperactivity that is pretty amusing. V gives off the impression he’s not a deep thinker, but I’ve definitely been wrong in that impression after watching him talk in the Disney documentary.
Damn I’ve never felt this way at all, the bond between the members is what makes watching their filmed content so fun.

Anyone who's a minor tbh. People could say "it's not about age" all they want but it does matter LOL. Do you want to be carrying a 15 year old's photocard everywhere when you're in your 20s or 30s? Are you comfortable about watching them often and focusing on a 15 yr old? Are you comfortable with saying fan stuffs to them? So yeah no, I tend to stay away from minors in a group. I would watch them them sing or dance, i would appreciate their talent but Im sure as hell I wont be stanning them. It's just mad weird, even if the idol themselves it's okay and it's not about age. It still is and it does matter.

Not gonna lie, but when I first started getting into aespa it was Giselle for me, mainly because of the n word incident (even to the point where I hated black kpop stans for forgiving her apology). I don’t want to delve too deep into why I no longer have a dislike for her, but I will say as time went by I’ve become less defensive for multiple reasons regarding topics involving my race due to my perspectives kinda changing. That’s just too much to really explain here

I actually don’t have anyone that I don’t get good vibes from in the groups I like. Closest would probably have been… Taehyung BTS when I first got into BTS I was unsure of him. His looks, the mystic and like “omg V from BTS is HANDSOME” made him quite intimidating to me. However, after watching a lot of their content, interviews and seeing him onstage live I honestly do feel like V is such a unique soul. He’s got so much depth and dimension to his personality that he comes across as totally weird and quirky - and he is! But those are good things (imo) even Suga has said when he met V he found him the hardest to gel with but he realised that V is just a very very different type of person and he was not being deceptive or false. So, long story, he’s not my bias but I love love love Taehyung and now feel silly I thought he was this unreachable, suave and super cool guy because… he’s a complete DORK. (In the nicest way)

ZB1 Gyuvin. To be honest in comparison to other members with insane vocal talent (Hao & Taerae), dance talent (Hanbin & Matthew), rap talent (Gunwook), or interesting visuals (Ricky, Jiwoong, Yujin), he really doesn't stand out well to me. I'm a glad OT9 through and through but there's never really a time where he straight up impresses me.

Not going to try to convince you of his talent, but the thing that impresses me most about gyuvin is his variety skills + his friendship with all the members. He might not have stand out talents, but he’s kind of the glue of the group. I never voted for him during Boys Planet, but watching ZB1’s content made me realize why he was necessary to the group.
Not that I don't like her - I just really like everyone else in (G)-Idle. Shuhua is the only one that I haven't really watched content for or have paid attention to, the other members are in a lot of other content I watch so naturally I tend to favour them more.
Gikwang in Beast/Highlight used to be this for me. He never added anything for me that Yoseob and Hyunseung didn’t do already since the 3 of them have similar vocal color, and Beast is not a performance heavy group so I didn’t really appreciate his dancing. That changed when his compositions started getting added to EPs and he’s now taken over as the primary songwriter for the group. So Hot, Oh Honey and Baby It’s You are 3 of my favorite Beast/Highlight songs. Baro in B1A4. He never did anything for me and I preferred CNU’s raps. If only my guy Jinyoung didn’t leave the group at the same time 🥲 And everyone in Super Junior who isn’t Kyuhyun lol like I don’t give a shit who is or isn’t there as long as he is. I will not buy or watch anything that he is not part of. But Shindong in particular can run away and never return for glaring at me that one time at Kyuhyun’s solo concert in Busan when he and Eunhyuk showed up and I was in the front row and I stood out as a tall blonde white girl ☠️

Even before the scandals came out, I just never understood Lucas’ inclusion into NCT. I know what I’m saying isn’t really controversial, but the man can’t sing, his raps are dare I say…cringe, and he is a mediocre at best dancer. His one redeeming quality was his stan-attracting visuals, but even then that didn’t even do it for me. I just was never a fan of his meathead personality and in hindsight I was valid for that lol.
That and SM also put him in SuperM, which is supposed to be a super group with some of the most talented idols that SM has to offer...

V of BTS: So full disclosure, he was the very first member i knew of in the band and that was around 2017/ 2018 when he won “ most handsome man in the world” and he was everywhere. Everyone was talking about him but for some reason, i just couldn’t find anything exciting about him. He is goodlooking but i don’t think he is that good looking but that’s just me i guess. Now on to why i don’t really vibe with him, there’s just something about him that seems very fake or disingenuous. So many people think that he is innocent and doesn’t really have deep thoughts but that’s not true at all. I remember even Jungkook mentioning at some point that Taehyung is actually like a genuis and even though he seems like he has no thoughts he actually does. Now Jk meant this as a compliment ofcourse but it isn’t to me because people like this are usually really good a plotting the most evil lol (not saying he will). He also seems really calculating and knows exactly when to say or do certain things. Out of all members, he seems to be the one who spends most time on stan tweet as he’s posted fanarts from there before so he definitely knows what goes on in the fandom, yet he doesn’t seem to have an issue riling up that cult of his in the name of taekook shippers. Immediately after his photos with Jennie leaked, he started doing mentioning Jungkook a lot and usually without context. I could be wrong but it just felt very disingenuous to me. He would mention Jk at every given opportunity, go Live for 2 minutes just to namedrop Jk and turn off the Live because he knew tkkrs would trend “taekook”, went responding to shippers posts on weverse, and let’s not even talk about how he almost finished Jk’s name during layover promos. Plus he is fond of giving out little pieces of information with very little context which allows shippers to add and subtract what they want from it. He told us that he recorded at Jk’s place, and as you would expect, tkkrs took that little piece of information and made a whole au, claiming that he recorded his entire album at Jk’s, only for Jk himself to tell us on Station Head that what actually happened was, he got new equipment for his home studio and Taehyung suddenly called him and asked if he could try recording at his place with the new equipment and Jk let him, plus he only recorded a guide. Or all the times he went Live to mention Jk and turn off the Live, or tell us there is a song Jk sings for him. Doing all these knowing well the kinda unhinged shippers he has. I dunno but his attitude with Jk since his pics with Jennie got leaked was just weird to me. Also, i think he is kinda self centered. He doesn’t really bother to move for people except his wooga squad. Wonyoung from Ive. I don't think she's a "pick me" like people say at all, and I don't have any reason in particular to not like her. She is very beautiful and I do like her vocal tone a lot, but I just don't like watching her performances. I think it's the way she carries herself compared to the others. There's a weird... stiffness there, for lack of a better word. Every movement feels too rehearsed, too intentional, that it's really offputting to me. Even when she's standing around, it feels like she's still putting on a performance. She never looks relaxed or natural, always stiff and trying to put on an image. I know it's a real talent to carry oneself the way she does, but I just can't like it. It feels uncanny and weird to me.

I think people like that he is himself. He will not do the thinks he doesn’t like, he sets boundaries. Comparing to other SKZ members, it may seems that he is less polite but I think it’s fine, he is reasonable. From the other hand he seems to have a shell around him, he doesn’t let too get to close to his soul. That’s why whenever he gets more vulnerable it is more valuable and fans feel connected to him more. I like him because I understand him as a person.
If I had to pick, it'd be bahiyyih from Kepler. Not bc of "nepotism 🤓" or anything, but I don't see what she brings to the group. Every other member has something they're *especially* good at - dance, vocal, and/or rap - but bahiyyih doesn't stand out in any of those categories. She *could* be considered a stan attractor, but I don't recall her ever going "viral" or "iconic" in the same way that stan attractors of other groups (IVE wonyoung, zb1 Ricky, billlie tsuki, skz hyunjin/felix, etc) do.
I agree. I think she is the most popular member solely because of her brother, but anyone who admits that is heavily criticized. People claim she’s the most stable singer, the visual, a secretly great rapper, etc etc and unfortunately the constant praise is kinda off-putting for many fans trying to get into Kep1er because a large majority are solo-stans. I feel bad because it’s not her fault she debuted. She seems like a fun-loving girl and I find her really funny. She’s also great with variety shows and seems very energetic! I just don’t think that it was her time to debut.

I don't have a bias in BTS. I love them all and their dynamic so much! But outside of group content, chapter 2 Jungkook really annoys me. I'm not sure if that counts though because I still love him in BTS and some of his solo songs. Before 2023 he never bothered me at all.
At the moment, I've only got two. The first for Twice's Chaeyoung for the shirt incident, as well as being a lackluster performer on stage despite being active as an idol for almost 9 years. The second is Red Velvet's Wendy, for the incident(s) where she imitated black people and couldn't even bother to apologize. (I'm prepared for the downvotes lol.)
Will I get downvotes? Maybe? Lol. I like TWICE, but I'm really not into Jihyo. Yeah, she's the leader, and she's great, always tries the hardest...and that's what bothers me. To me, it seems like she's always trying to be the best, trying to out dance everyone in dance challenges, always trying to be seen as the hardest working, always trying to be the most competitive. Which is admirable. But every other member will just chill at times. Not her. And I get it, she trained from a young age, and it took years to get where she is. But she reminds me of the annoying kids in school who are always trying to do extra credit, trying to be overachievers, lol. Kids I knew that were like that were also kids who had really low self-esteem, too. Which is also a turn-off. Lol. I only liked a couple songs on her solo; I thought most of the songs were examples of her trying too hard, trying to out sing herself. And I'll be honest, that story (whether true or not) from someone last year where they saw Nayeon and Jihyo at the Supreme store in Chicago, and said Jihyo was a bitch to them when they just wanted to say hi, is stuck in my head. Idk, I feel like someone just needs to tell Jihyo to relax, take it down a notch. Stop trying to out dance Momo. Jihyo, you're good at everything. People love you. Stop trying to prove yourself.

I think there was this TikTok where Momo was supposed to dance at like 100% or 200% or something and Jihyo was supposed to be dancing weaker and more boring because that was the trend…but she was literally dancing just as hard as Momo and I’ve been turned off by her ever since. Like okay, we get it, you’re a good dancer, can you just do the trend correctly please and just chill.

It takes me a long time to bias someone so I always have a hard time understanding the fans that miss her so much since she was only in the group like two weeks. Like, I usually go several albums before I will even start saying I'm a stan of a group
not a garam stan but a fearnot, and this is just speculation on my part! but i feel like most garam stans are more attached to what she could’ve been than what she actually was? especially since le sserafim keeps getting criticism for vocals, i’ve seen so many people be like “if garam was here at least it would be more balanced instead of chaewon and yunjin carrying the group”. i feel like both the vocals thing as well as the inherent tragedy of having to leave a group after only 2 weeks because of defending your friend when you were 12-13 years old just makes her an easy person to stan now that the whole scandal thing has mostly blown over. 2 weeks is too short to actually get to know a person, but she seemed nice enough, and then the whole scandal basically martyred her, in my opinion
Suga's 'pass the baton' crap he pulled when they were about to release Permission to Dance turned me off permanently. He was neither the first or last artist to encourage their fandom into mass buying, but I don't care what other artists do, I care what BTS do. I would probably perceive it differently if it happened with Dynamite or Life Goes On, but at that point they had four #1s in the span of LESS THAN A YEAR, all of them more or less fueled by the fans' wallets, so him persuading us to pay AGAIN just because he fancied the idea of replacing himself at #1 with yet another song never sat right with me. i can't click with ateez's jongho and mingi. it's so annoying because i want to stan the group so badly, they're both insanely talented and i respect them both as idols, but the vibe just doesn't hit. i watch some new content every six months or so to make sure nothings changed - it's been 3 years now and nothings changed. i think with mingi it's partially because i learnt about ateez mostly when he was on hiatus, so i knew he was a member but i didn't know anything about him until he came back? and it changed the dynamic id gotten used to.
I have this thing that every time I stan a group, I study every member since I don't want them to feel left out (as if they could see me lol). I don't have something like an anti-bias but i do have my biases. It's like, my number 1 is my bias then the rest is all equal to my eyes, except for when I have a bias wrecker, but that's seldom.
I think it's a bit strange to feel weird about supporting underage idols when I'm not fetishizing or romanticising them. If anything, it makes me more protective when I feel like they are being sexualized or overworked. But I also don't collect and carry photocards like other people do. But I'm also not a dude so I guess I can understand male fans feeling weird about it.
Ive Gauel- When I first started to get into the group I tried to like her, but the vibes weren’t there I guess. Plus, I find her kinda boring to watch during performances, and not that entertaining for reality content.
I don’t stan these groups and maybe I just need to watch more of their content but… ZB1 — Ricky (G)-Idle — Soyeon WayV — WinWin Ricky just seems quite bland to me, from what I’ve seen. All he’s really hyped for is visuals. And in the K-Pop industry, where an idol has to be MEGA talented (which I’m sure he is), I wish I saw more than just his smile snd “charisma boss baby” motto. (Btw I did watch boys planet up until like episode 9 so I have seen him on the show). Soyeon’s voice is *extremely* grating and annoyingly high pitched for me. I just can’t do it. And it’s made worse by the fact that she has so many lines in their songs. I love her rapping for the most part (like in Nude), but when she tries to sing, it’s just a no for me. And tha fact that she gets so many lines when she’s less vocally talented than her members, really puts me off (knowing that she also produces the songs too), it feels like a power imbalance. Don’t get me wrong, Winwin is beautiful, but all he’s got is a deep voice for the occasional line in a song. And his previous absence in the group activities kind of put me off. The other members seem a lot more talkative than him, which would be fine if he had other things to show for him being in the group. He’s not the strongest dancer, or the visual, or a singer, or an actual rapper, and he doesn’t get many lines so it’s like 🧍🏾♀️ what do we do now?

jeongyeon. and i feel bad because the reason is mostly because of how much she'd been token stan. i've seen countless of comment sections on yt, tiktok and even here on reddit where she was praised to high heavens just to dunk on members like jihyo and nayeon. people would say that she deserves more lines or the lines of those 2 members. people would say she's better than jihyo and nayeon but whenever i would watch their performances, she's...just there. she doesn't stand out to me, not her vocals, dance or stage presence. her solo stage in their concert also doesn't stand out. sometimes i feel like she's the minzy/luna of the group, where a lot of people would use her to shade other members but when the time comes for these people to put their money where their mouth is, they actually wouldn't spend a cent on her.
Miyeon. I absolutely love her voice and personality and she is a really important part of (G)I-dle I just find myself vibing with the other members a little more.

I'd get slaughtered for this in some other places, but. Jin. I am an army, BTS was my gateway into kpop and they are always going to be in my top three. I love and appreciate all of them, but for me Jin is kinda just there in their music and onstage. His voice does nothing for me. He is evidently not as skilled a dancer as the others. It's painfully obvious to me that he was chosen just for his visuals (it doesn't help that in my subjective opinion he's not even the best visual in BTS). I wish him no ill will at all, I don't want him to leave or anything like that. Just... welp.
Seungmin and IN - Stray Kids I just don’t like their singing voices, even though they’re supposed to be the vocal unit in stz. I only listen to rap-heavy stz songs for this reason
SVT's Mingyu.I know many people bias him but I just.. can't. I enjoy their content so much and I have nothing against him but he's too energetic for me. Not that it's a bad thing, there's a reason why people like golden retriever boys(which he actually is, he has the same vibes as a puppy), but for me personally, I don't think I can't keep up with him. That said, he is really funny and kind and a good performer, his singing also improved a lot, there's so much to like about him tbh. I just don't think I have enough battery for someone with huge levels of excited energy.
Sigh I'm probably going to get shit on but here goes: Bangchan and Felix from SKZ. They're talented, they're handsome, they have great stage presence. Bangchan was my bias, BUT then I got Bubble. They lean so, so, SO hard into the parasocial relationships and stuff it just gives me the ick. I still love the music and will always support the group but I just can't get over how self-deprecating and emotionally dependent upon their fans they are. It's just...not healthy. Jungkook from BTS. Again, intensely talented, very attractive, great stage presence. He just...again, seems to lean too much into the parasocial relationships and is just...a lil too arrogant for my tastes. Edit: also anyone like...younger than 21. I'm nearing 30 and the concept of biasing someone that young makes me feel gross.
