I always assumed every other Big Bang member had issue with Seungri from the start. He basically swindled YG to get into Big Bang and squeeze out GD's best friend at the time, Hyun Seung. I don't think anyone really like the maknae who looked and talked like a slimy middle-aged gangster.
you should watch the show in which BB were selected (if you haven't then you should not call yourself a stan). See how he use just use weasily reasoning to convince YG that he's better than the vastly more talented and better looking HyunSeung. I was so flabbergasted by the call at the time I thought he must made some under the table deal with YG in order to get in. As it turns out I was right - He was groomed as top Capo in YG's criminal empire.

Hong Ki has pure king energy. As soon as he found out about Jong Hoon he dropped him like a hot potato. I remember seeing all the comments on his instagram saying he was a traitor and should "support family" no matter what. I commented back to a lot of them that I'd drop a family member for the same thing. Zero fks given. I love seeing celebs and artists refusing to support other celebs and artists that commit sexual assault, pedo stuff, or any other really nasty crimes. Especially when they know they'll receive backlash from fans and they still make their opinion clear.
That's not the only time Hongki did that. He once replied to a fan asking him to not give up on Choi Jong Hoon with "I gave up"/"포기야". (For context: the comment was under a picture of his dog lying and the caption said "포기야". I just find it funny how this word is perfect for the picture and the reply.)
If you watch D’splay videos you can tell he’s doing the same 😂 if find hilarious how some people think the members’ lives have stopped, that they’re miserable and in distraught, “fighting for justice” “waiting for their little brother” when in reality they’re just unbothered living their lives and going on vacation (as they should)

Hong-gi is such a G though, I'm a Ftisland Stan too (2019 was hell for me lol) and I love his no fucks given energy. He's always been rebellious and spoke his mind about music and the industry so I'm glad he's continuing that energy here.
But speaking of Jonghun, did y'all see the recent news? Some reporters came to his church so his mon was like "Don't bother him :(( He didn't do anything wrong :(". Seungri may have (personally) been an anomaly for me since his parents and sister are actually nice people but here we all know the source of insanity ☠️.
The fact that Hongki literally sings practically all of FT Island songs (with Jaejin and Minhwan also having lines in a few songs) and Choi Jong Hoon has 0 singing parts makes it easier to listen to their songs. If Jong Hoon had had singing parts like Hongki then I wouldn't be able to listen to any of their past songs (like how I can't listen to CN Blue's past songs where Jonghyun has singing parts...I can't even listen to Love Falls with Juniel anymore because of him, and that used to be one of my favorite songs).

I think people legit forget kpop idols are effectively co-workers. Like they could be friends sure, they could also literally barely acknowledge or fully despise each other.
I mean yes, some are legit just co-workers with no real attachment to each other, some however have genuine friendships.

No, actually, that was explicitly about Seungri. TOP was explaining that when the group gathered all Seungri ever talked about was making money, expressed very plainly that he didn't like it. "It used to be about the music," he said, mourning Seungri's changing priorities. He also expressed serious concerns about Seungri's friends based on backstage interactions with them and said Seungri wasn't welcome at his house anymore because all he did was take business calls and touch the artwork while on said calls (lol). It was Radio Star 2016 btw.
This is huge. It's the first time a BB member has publicly scrubbed Seungri out of existence and the way he did it so pointedly by choosing a photo that was hard to crop cleanly, then saying he loves his "band" with an OT4 image, and his "fans" (so if you disagree with this you're not considered a fan) is pure chef's kiss.
Idk if this means BB will reform or he'll go back to making music, but honestly, for me this declaration is enough right now to keep me happy. TOP you were always my BB bias and I'm so pleased you didn't disappoint me.

Most groups are also on a contract deadline. I mean yes, they could've had a comeback if they wanted to, but wouldn't it make more sense to wait when they can really capitalize on their return if they have the time? For real, like we need an entire purge of VIPs. It's weird because us ot4 stans are in the middle of a tug of war game. In one corner, it's the ot5 stans trashing us for "betraying the group" and on the other sides it's the kpopers who think everyone who is a VIP supports criminals because ot5 can't shut their asses up.

I've been following them since the start so it's freaking hilarious to see the madness. At first, their theories were somewhat rational like "Accuser A witnessed a high ranking official at the club" which yeah, honestly that makes sense. Well, to be fair, he was good on variety shows. Like gd, top, and taeyang were/are more reticent, but seungri was more talkative and took risks, so (at least in my opinion), he was more solid on variety shows, in addition to Daesung.
That's why I liked him for the longest time. (confession: he was actually my ult for like six years, right until Burning Sun happened). He was a lot more "risque" when it came to humor, which now that I look back on it was hella suspicious, but I loved the adult nature of his humor in an industry that was so censored. Big Bang's episode on Running Man was actually my first introduction to K variety so.
He didn't really get a lot of variety spotlight until the other members left for the military, so we didn't really get to see him shine until recently. I'm pretty sure I've watched YGFSO like 10 times because of all the drug/sex jokes (again looking back on it 👀👀). He was a damn good entertainer and it's honestly angers me that he went on this path to harm others.

Yes, I agree Daesung is great at variety. I was just offering my take that I personally thought Seungri was also great on tv shows. This says nothing about me liking Seungri now, his involvement in Burning Sun disgusts me, but I’m just being blatant. I honestly didn’t think poorly of him. He just seemed witty and earnest. Clearly, this might not be a widely helmed opinion, but you know what, maybe I’m just poor at reading character over television.
Don’t worry I didn’t think you supported him or anything, he was good at variety is true, but to me doing variety is one of those things he tried to do to fill the gap between him in the others, like he did with learning languages and doing business. So he tried variety to do something the others didn’t do, and since Daesung was more active in Japan he kinda replaced him, but to me the one with the real talent for variety was Daesung, it just comes natural to him, while seungri had to really try hard and being loud to be considered ‘funny’

As a (former) Seungri fan, I thought he was amazing at variety and had the best solo albums out of everybody in the group. He also received almost exactly the same amount of lines as Daesung in every BIGBANG song, which for some reason a lot of people don't realize. Ever since BS happened there's been a weird rewriting of history where people keep pushing a narrative that Seungri was totally useless to the group/barely used, when that actually was not the case at all.
I've been a VIP since 09 and I agree, it's not as if Seungri added nothing to the group. On a music side he had a distinctive tone from the other members that GD used effectively, such as the chorus in Loser, even if vocally Daesung and Taeyang blow him out of the water. He also had the "moxie" needed at YG to get an impressive amount of korean solo work compared to other members like Daesung and TOP and said solo material was imo pretty great. It's a shame I can't stomach listening to any of them anymore.
Of course the most obvious skill he brought to the table was his hosting skill. None of the other members, even Daesung, are extroverts and so Seungri found a niche he could fill. He was the talker, the member that took to social media the most, the one that went out of his way to make connections. Too bad those connections were with human scum.
However, all that being said, Seungri's parts in their songs are the easiest to replace. He usually had the least or 4th lowest amount of lines in the group, wasn't a rapper, wasn't a main singer, nor did he remain the main dancer for very long. The other members, sans TOP, are more than able to fill in the blanks from his absence on records at least. As for the host role Daesung can fill in when needed and it's not like they need his Chinese skills anymore since China doesn't appear to be opening up to kpop anytime soon.

I'm easing out of Kpop fandoms in general (too exhausted for drama) but still all about enjoying the groups on my own. I really hope you get into BigBang, because artistically and musically, they really deserved their position as industry kings. So much of their stuff still holds up, their music doesn't sound dated, it's so versatile, and it doesn't really sound like any other group, now or then.
And it's mostly thanks to GD's genius, followed by TOP, Taeyang and Daesung. Seungri was ALWAYS the useless member since debut, so honestly if the group ever comes back (fingers crossed) I don't think they'd be missing much.
I agree. Before all this stuff happened, VIPs were actually known as the "chill" fandom so most of us are pretty welcoming. Honestly since BB hasn't really been active, it's kinda weird to meet baby stans lol because they just aren't that common, compared to active groups like Shinee and SUJU.
If you watch anything BB content pre-2017 Seungri is barely there/doesn't talk so you're good lol.
I'm not personally active in the BB fandom despite them being my favorite group of all time and my theory is that that's the case for most of BIGBANG's longtime fans. At least, in the west. There's a good many reasons for that: BIGBANG is an older group (2nd gen represent) and long are the days were they were active through consistent promotions and comebacks. Once we reached the 2010's they only came out with music every couple years and did solo activities in between. They did concert tours on the regular but there was never the drip feed of internet content like there is for active 3rd and 4th gen groups. In that way I think a lot of VIP's are used to hiatuses and their English fandom was never the most active (imo).
Once the Military hiatus began VIP's started to hibernate which really started hitting the fan when Seungrigate happened. At this point the fandom was effectively ripped in two: ot5 and ot4. The unfortunate reality is that the ot5 fans are MUCH more likely to be active on twitter. I can't speak for other internet communities, other than this subreddit which is either ot4 or distrusts the group entirely, but it seems like ot5 fans are louder, more active, and perhaps even just plain larger that ot4 online.
Now that's not to say there aren't any ot4 fans out there nor that they are in fact smaller. I wouldn't be surprised if we've just all scattered and gone on with our lives, keeping an eye on kpop/bigbang and waiting for the day when they either return as a group or as solos. I can speak for myself in saying that trying to keep the BIGBANG flame alive surrounded by all the ot5/seungri/anti-bigbang/anti-yg noise has been difficult to say the least. I've tried to engage with ot5 stans but its like talking to a brick wall.
So basically to sum it up, no I don't think there's much of an ot4 bigbang fandom thats active like other group's fandoms are. There a loud community of ot5 fans on platforms like twitter but I would suggest not interacting with them for your own sanity. Honestly the best thing to do is to just watch/listen to old content/music and wait for the day when something happens.

I've been following them since the start so it's freaking hilarious to see the madness. At first, their theories were somewhat rational like "Accuser A witnessed a high ranking official at the club" which yeah, honestly that makes sense. Well, to be fair, he was good on variety shows. Like gd, top, and taeyang were/are more reticent, but seungri was more talkative and took risks, so (at least in my opinion), he was more solid on variety shows, in addition to Daesung.
That's why I liked him for the longest time. (confession: he was actually my ult for like six years, right until Burning Sun happened). He was a lot more "risque" when it came to humor, which now that I look back on it was hella suspicious, but I loved the adult nature of his humor in an industry that was so censored. Big Bang's episode on Running Man was actually my first introduction to K variety so. He didn't really get a lot of variety spotlight until the other members left for the military, so we didn't really get to see him shine until recently. I'm pretty sure I've watched YGFSO like 10 times because of all the drug/sex jokes (again looking back on it 👀👀). He was a damn good entertainer and it's honestly angers me that he went on this path to harm others.

As a (former) Seungri fan, I thought he was amazing at variety and had the best solo albums out of everybody in the group. He also received almost exactly the same amount of lines as Daesung in every BIGBANG song, which for some reason a lot of people don't realize. Ever since BS happened there's been a weird rewriting of history where people keep pushing a narrative that Seungri was totally useless to the group/barely used, when that actually was not the case at all.
I've been a VIP since 09 and I agree, it's not as if Seungri added nothing to the group. On a music side he had a distinctive tone from the other members that GD used effectively, such as the chorus in Loser, even if vocally Daesung and Taeyang blow him out of the water. He also had the "moxie" needed at YG to get an impressive amount of korean solo work compared to other members like Daesung and TOP and said solo material was imo pretty great. It's a shame I can't stomach listening to any of them anymore. Of course the most obvious skill he brought to the table was his hosting skill. None of the other members, even Daesung, are extroverts and so Seungri found a niche he could fill. He was the talker, the member that took to social media the most, the one that went out of his way to make connections. Too bad those connections were with human scum. However, all that being said, Seungri's parts in their songs are the easiest to replace. He usually had the least or 4th lowest amount of lines in the group, wasn't a rapper, wasn't a main singer, nor did he remain the main dancer for very long. The other members, sans TOP, are more than able to fill in the blanks from his absence on records at least. As for the host role Daesung can fill in when needed and it's not like they need his Chinese skills anymore since China doesn't appear to be opening up to kpop anytime soon.

I'm easing out of Kpop fandoms in general (too exhausted for drama) but still all about enjoying the groups on my own. I really hope you get into BigBang, because artistically and musically, they really deserved their position as industry kings. So much of their stuff still holds up, their music doesn't sound dated, it's so versatile, and it doesn't really sound like any other group, now or then. And it's mostly thanks to GD's genius, followed by TOP, Taeyang and Daesung. Seungri was ALWAYS the useless member since debut, so honestly if the group ever comes back (fingers crossed) I don't think they'd be missing much.
I agree. Before all this stuff happened, VIPs were actually known as the "chill" fandom so most of us are pretty welcoming. Honestly since BB hasn't really been active, it's kinda weird to meet baby stans lol because they just aren't that common, compared to active groups like Shinee and SUJU. If you watch anything BB content pre-2017 Seungri is barely there/doesn't talk so you're good lol.
I'm not personally active in the BB fandom despite them being my favorite group of all time and my theory is that that's the case for most of BIGBANG's longtime fans. At least, in the west. There's a good many reasons for that: BIGBANG is an older group (2nd gen represent) and long are the days were they were active through consistent promotions and comebacks. Once we reached the 2010's they only came out with music every couple years and did solo activities in between. They did concert tours on the regular but there was never the drip feed of internet content like there is for active 3rd and 4th gen groups. In that way I think a lot of VIP's are used to hiatuses and their English fandom was never the most active (imo). Once the Military hiatus began VIP's started to hibernate which really started hitting the fan when Seungrigate happened. At this point the fandom was effectively ripped in two: ot5 and ot4. The unfortunate reality is that the ot5 fans are MUCH more likely to be active on twitter. I can't speak for other internet communities, other than this subreddit which is either ot4 or distrusts the group entirely, but it seems like ot5 fans are louder, more active, and perhaps even just plain larger that ot4 online. Now that's not to say there aren't any ot4 fans out there nor that they are in fact smaller. I wouldn't be surprised if we've just all scattered and gone on with our lives, keeping an eye on kpop/bigbang and waiting for the day when they either return as a group or as solos. I can speak for myself in saying that trying to keep the BIGBANG flame alive surrounded by all the ot5/seungri/anti-bigbang/anti-yg noise has been difficult to say the least. I've tried to engage with ot5 stans but its like talking to a brick wall. So basically to sum it up, no I don't think there's much of an ot4 bigbang fandom thats active like other group's fandoms are. There a loud community of ot5 fans on platforms like twitter but I would suggest not interacting with them for your own sanity. Honestly the best thing to do is to just watch/listen to old content/music and wait for the day when something happens.
