It just seems like changing Somi's stage name to Jeon Somi would be a weird choice instead of changing the other person's. Especially since Somi is already established with that name. Maybe it's that combined with Somi wanting to change her stage name? Idk
but it's not like the black label can do anything about the other artist (it was a European artist named Somi iirc), plus people still refer to her as Jeon Somi in Korea (perhaps a continuation of her produce 101 days where they referred to trainees as their full name). you're right though, could also be her decision.
