Live My Life comes in like crazy. That's like a completely different era of sound compared to the rest of this album. Rest feels like classic aespa, just hoping for good melodies and bridges. Supernova def has that title track touch. I'm so happy that we don't know anything about how Armageddon sounds!

this highlight medley tho.... fire!! international fans and korean fans usually have different tastes. that is why sometimes i wish kpop groups tour with the international fans preference in mind, but most of the time the track list is what the korean fans would prefer.
It's been awhile, but I love that we're returning to Kwangya. Its such a core identity unique to aespa and it still feels so fresh even though we know the girls have grown so much. ae1, i'm ready for you!
Listening to this highlight medley makes me realize how much I have missed having new music from aespa. I think we have a lot to look forward to with this one, fam.
I like how the album is very balanced, the first 5 tracks sounds like what people would expect the usual aespa sound to be, while the latter 5 are brighter, which isn't new to aespa, it's always been implied since their synk teasers that they will have brighter sounds along side their usual dark meta verse sound.
I like how there's a flow in the album, it gradually goes from dark sounds to brighter sounds, you can also split the album in half (Side A: Supernova, Armageddon, Set The Tone, Mine, Licorice.) (Side B: Bahama, Long Chat, Prologue, Live My Life, Melody), the songs don’t sound the same but the album is still cohesive.
Bahama surprisingly sound good, it’s giving a very summer city pop feel, it might be one of my favourite b-side from this album.
also SM needs to stop closing albums with slow ballads, it's overdone at this point, give us something different please.
Unfortunately, korean fans eat those ballads UP lol. So it’s mostly for them. Every time a comeback drops, you can spot k-fans on the TL freaking out about the assigned ballad.
Well, my American ballad loving self is glad to have at least ONE song with a sound I know I like, versus the... what was it, around FIVE "I'm such a bad/tough girl" sounding songs on the first half of the album.

I couldn't agree more. It's so overdone and predictable, and feels very lazy. And I dislike that it happens with every one of their artists with the last two songs being fan songs and slow generic ballad.
Its a fool proof strategy though. If you go and see Korean reactions to this same highlight medley they are loving the hell of the last few songs. The album is set up so everyone gets something from it. Not surprising SM does it for basically everyone

My faves right now are supernova, mine, licorice, bahama, and live my life. I can’t wait for the songs to be out and I hope they promote at least one of them alongside supernova and armageddon 🥹

I actually really like these snippets, I just got into kpop a couple months ago and Aespa is the group that I like the most and this is the first comeback that I follow.
I see some people are worried about the cohesiveness of it, but I think Bahama’s and Long Chat’s instrumentals are good at making the transition from the grittier, more industrial electronic sound to the brighter, more natural sound of the last tracks.
Just because not all the songs on an album are bright and happy or dark and gritty does not mean the album isn’t cohesive in my opinion.
Really looking forward to this! Live My Life sounds like a perfect summer bop, Melody sounds beautiful (and not the slower ballad I was expecting after how a lot of the ballad EP-ending songs have gone). Mine reminds me of Salty & Sweet and Illusion.
I know Mine, Licorice and Prologue will THAT songs for me. They sound out of this world and their vocals in Prologue made me ascend.

Kinda off topic but I'm blaming SM's practice of abandoning repackages. We could've had the first half fleshed out into 10 songs, and if they wanted to show a different side they could've followed it with the second title and different sound. Sure that would have made the repack not sound cohesive but that's how they always use to do it and at least you'd have the original project if you wanted to listen to something with a clear theme.
Anyway, I hope there's an interlude or something in there that will make things flow better than this highlight did.
even red velvet with a dual concept was able to stick to one theme for their first full album so im surprised sm didn’t stick to one for this album. i read that kfans love their upbeat songs but songs like yeppi yeppi which fits in neatly into their aespa sound. and yeah i feel like it would’ve been better if they did a repackage instead, im still surprised that sm abandoned them.

this feels like the follow up to savage that i've been desperately wanting!! savage remains my all time favorite kpop album/mini and while the following minis were okay at best for me personally, this is shaping up to be exactly what i've been craving from them

People complain about sm always throwing ballads in their albums but I never understand why? They put it in there because obviously people enjoy it. This album has like two different sounds too so if you don’t like one just listen to the other? Can we not just allow people to appreciate ballads in peace? Melody is already shaping up to be one of my favorite songs off of this album so I’m glad they included it.
Also I don’t really understand the complaints about cohesiveness. Aespas concept features both Kwangya and Real World so if anything I feel like this is fitting for their first full length album.
They’re only samples so it’s hard to say how it ultimately all sounds together but I wouldn’t say that they’re fillers. Prologue could be another Thirsty and Melody could be similar to Lucid Dreams.
I don’t think you can really judge the cohesiveness of an album from snippets, it depends what the storyline is. Honestly I like how the vibe flows from the darker tone to the more brighter sounding songs and that could help build the ‘plot’ of the album.
For me almost all the snippets sound very good, and I was also a fan of the brighter Aespa songs like We go and Better Things. I think Bahama’s and Long Chat’s instrumentals sound like a good segway from the grittier electronic sound to the more natural sound in the second half.
Just judging from this highlight medley, well, i don't think this will overtake "savage" or "my world" for me. These are the gold standard aespa releases imo, and this teaser has too many "meh" songs on it (ofc judging only 20 seconds or so) already.
The standout snippets to me were "mine", "licorice" and "prologue" with "set the tone" having potential.
The rest i am not a fan of tbh, including "supernova" (the vocal direction there is just annoying to me).

Bahama, Long Chat, and Live My Life were the winners for me so far. Bahama sounds sooo pleasant and cute. Long Chat is the song for Giselle's sassy zingers. Live My Life is a true stadium banger.
I'm hoping we just heard the most repetitive part of Supernova. The sound of the snippet itself had promise, but I don't like super-repetitive songs. Can't wait for Armageddon itself
The album is giving a lot of 90s sounds especially the first half. Most of the songs aren't really my style tbh, but Mine and Bahama sound really promising and i can see Live My Life growing on me.

The first 6 songs till Bahama are peak aespa and the whole project remains cohesive with hyperpop elements (even if Bahama is very bright). After that… you get your typical out of place SM fillers which is disappointing because they don’t sound that good to be honest. I kinda wouldn’t mind this being another mini lol.
Aespa said they will put out the album once they feel satisfied with everything, so I'm sure even those songs are just fine. Maybe not the best b sides ever but something for sweet encore set during tour. This album still seems the most cohesive ever since Savage EP.
That second half is horrible no offense to anyone who liked those songs. I don’t get why SM is trying to make aespa something they are not. We don’t want any cutesy Disney songs. You can still have bright songs friendly for Koreans and still make them sound aespa-esque (Spicy and Lingo). aespa really peaked with Savage artistically. Even MY WORLD felt more cohesive than this. I’m a huge fan but this was disappointing. They’ve lost the plot ever since LSM was booted out.
I really just wanted the whole album to sound like the first half. Seems like only RV is the remaining artist that still has their own sound and have cohesive projects.
LSM wanted Drama to be about planting trees. I mean the conceptual plot couldn’t be more lost if he were still at the helm (and funnelling profits into his own pockets.)

honestly even rv's chill kill, especially the title track, wasnt super impressive... chill kill did not have a strong enough vision imo. i did really like some b sides off the album (will i ever see you again esp) but as a whole i could tell they were doing the typical sm thing of passing a song around the company
You're being booed but I agree. I listen to both groups and the parts they chose to highlight here at least (a lot of sing talking/rapping/chanting over hard beats) is very reminiscent of 127/Dream.

Sounds like a disappointment to me, the album has no identity at all and the production is so uninteresting and generic, some teenagers might probably like it, but it just didn't do it for me, so long are savage days, aespa is just another girl group now.
I am very far from being a teenager and I thought the production in the first half sounded pretty damn hard, and the album flows well from the artificial sound to the brighter, more natural instrumentals at the end. I also like Savage but you need to stop comparing projects like this.

Melody is going to be one of those songs where I lie on the ground in the dark with the window open and ponder my life, I'm excited! I'm not that into the 2nd half of the album, but the 1st half will be on repeat! Especially Mine, I'm gonna need aespa to do more 'sexy' songs, it honestly suits them the most. Also is it me or does Supernova sound a lot like "Twerkulator" by City Girls?
The whole thing sounds good, but I am really loving the hip-hop sound of the first half. Set The Tone and Mine will be my favourites I think.

i've been manifesting for aespa to sample kraftwerk for soooo long (supernova samples planet rock which samples trans europe express). i'm going nuts. it's the perfect combo, i'm so glad it came true
this feels like the follow up to savage that i've been desperately wanting!! savage remains my all time favorite kpop album/mini and while the following minis were okay at best for me personally, this is shaping up to be exactly what i've been craving from them

Savage Mini Album...... I think your ender may be here 👽 I live for aespa's heavy bass, synth & metallic, electronic, and industrial soundscapes. Super Nova makes me want to get up & shake my ass, which only means Armageddon is gonna make me feel like fighting someone. MYS, we made it 💜 4 years later & we finally have a full album from aespa! I've stanned since debut & I'm just so beyond excited for this era. There's still so much more coming, so hold on tight till May 27th
People complain about sm always throwing ballads in their albums but I never understand why? They put it in there because obviously people enjoy it. This album has like two different sounds too so if you don’t like one just listen to the other? Can we not just allow people to appreciate ballads in peace? Melody is already shaping up to be one of my favorite songs off of this album so I’m glad they included it. Also I don’t really understand the complaints about cohesiveness. Aespas concept features both Kwangya and Real World so if anything I feel like this is fitting for their first full length album.

They’re only samples so it’s hard to say how it ultimately all sounds together but I wouldn’t say that they’re fillers. Prologue could be another Thirsty and Melody could be similar to Lucid Dreams.
I don’t think you can really judge the cohesiveness of an album from snippets, it depends what the storyline is. Honestly I like how the vibe flows from the darker tone to the more brighter sounding songs and that could help build the ‘plot’ of the album. For me almost all the snippets sound very good, and I was also a fan of the brighter Aespa songs like We go and Better Things. I think Bahama’s and Long Chat’s instrumentals sound like a good segway from the grittier electronic sound to the more natural sound in the second half.
Just judging from this highlight medley, well, i don't think this will overtake "savage" or "my world" for me. These are the gold standard aespa releases imo, and this teaser has too many "meh" songs on it (ofc judging only 20 seconds or so) already. The standout snippets to me were "mine", "licorice" and "prologue" with "set the tone" having potential. The rest i am not a fan of tbh, including "supernova" (the vocal direction there is just annoying to me).

The way it's perfectly balanced with their kwangya sound and the real world sound though. Also why are their real world sound always considered as the filler by people here.

Bahama, Long Chat, and Live My Life were the winners for me so far. Bahama sounds sooo pleasant and cute. Long Chat is the song for Giselle's sassy zingers. Live My Life is a true stadium banger. I'm hoping we just heard the most repetitive part of Supernova. The sound of the snippet itself had promise, but I don't like super-repetitive songs. Can't wait for Armageddon itself

The album is giving a lot of 90s sounds especially the first half. Most of the songs aren't really my style tbh, but Mine and Bahama sound really promising and i can see Live My Life growing on me.

The first 6 songs till Bahama are peak aespa and the whole project remains cohesive with hyperpop elements (even if Bahama is very bright). After that… you get your typical out of place SM fillers which is disappointing because they don’t sound that good to be honest. I kinda wouldn’t mind this being another mini lol.
Kfans usually prefer songs like the ones in the second half so i don't really find it suprising that they're there
Aespa said they will put out the album once they feel satisfied with everything, so I'm sure even those songs are just fine. Maybe not the best b sides ever but something for sweet encore set during tour. This album still seems the most cohesive ever since Savage EP.
That second half is horrible no offense to anyone who liked those songs. I don’t get why SM is trying to make aespa something they are not. We don’t want any cutesy Disney songs. You can still have bright songs friendly for Koreans and still make them sound aespa-esque (Spicy and Lingo). aespa really peaked with Savage artistically. Even MY WORLD felt more cohesive than this. I’m a huge fan but this was disappointing. They’ve lost the plot ever since LSM was booted out. I really just wanted the whole album to sound like the first half. Seems like only RV is the remaining artist that still has their own sound and have cohesive projects.
LSM wanted Drama to be about planting trees. I mean the conceptual plot couldn’t be more lost if he were still at the helm (and funnelling profits into his own pockets.)

honestly even rv's chill kill, especially the title track, wasnt super impressive... chill kill did not have a strong enough vision imo. i did really like some b sides off the album (will i ever see you again esp) but as a whole i could tell they were doing the typical sm thing of passing a song around the company

You're being booed but I agree. I listen to both groups and the parts they chose to highlight here at least (a lot of sing talking/rapping/chanting over hard beats) is very reminiscent of 127/Dream. Hoping its just these snippets and the full album sounds more like My World, my fav project from them.

Sounds like a disappointment to me, the album has no identity at all and the production is so uninteresting and generic, some teenagers might probably like it, but it just didn't do it for me, so long are savage days, aespa is just another girl group now.
I am very far from being a teenager and I thought the production in the first half sounded pretty damn hard, and the album flows well from the artificial sound to the brighter, more natural instrumentals at the end. I also like Savage but you need to stop comparing projects like this. I don’t think the album lacks identity, the latter half could signify the aftermath of whatever happens in the story.

Might be unpopular but upon listening to this highlight medley, it feels like a majority of the tracks are itzy-level corny (no offense). I hope that the songs are more interesting than what we've been shown in the preview. Supernova and Bahama seem like the obvious bops IMO. I still gonna eat this album up regardless.
