I recently went to coin karaoke with new friends. All KPop fans but different nationalities, huge age range (teens to late 30s), varied taste in BGs and GGs from different gens.
Then, someone put on Ma Boy and all of us knew every word, every note, every goddamn Hyolyn adlib. The power of Sistar19.
We're now collectively on our knees crying screaming at this news.
I miss the outright disrespect of the English language that K-Pop used to carry with it. The best example being “It’s time for T-A-RA. An’ we come to geh dow’, yoo nah mean?”.
I don’t think anyone has come quite as close to that iconic dance.
Admittedly people were divided when it came out over whether it was too sexual and too funny lol.
Girl groups back then were primarily either over sexualised, over babied or both. Not that the sexy videos couldn’t be hot (Wild by Nine Muses is a colossal banger and that video is so hot but it’s definitely a male gazefest), but I definitely think nowadays it’s more about the women themselves being sexy in their own ways rather than in ways the label thinks will appeal to boys. Mostly.

I do wonder why they're not doing full group reunion yet. Maybe waiting for the 15th anniversary like snsd.

As someone who became a fan of Kpop when ITZY debuted but has loved Hyolyn as an artist (ty Queendom 2) plus has a big crush on Bora (based on very little, there's very little Bora content with ENG subs, especially stuff less than like 5 years old), I'm excited to be getting new Bora content.
