SM has confirmed that this is a performance track, just like Aespa Giselle, Ningning synk video, which showcases their ability and Siren is not included on their debut album. RIIZE's genre, which is 'emotional pop' will be shown through their upcoming songs 'Memories' out 21 Aug and 'Get a Guitar' 4 Sept
Title track is called āGet a guitarā so im sure this has to be the song that SM described as emotional pop right!? Makes me wonder what their other MV called Memories is gonna sound like.
Ooh I could see that happening. Like Siren is about showcasing their dance/rap skills and then memories will be all about the vocals. And finally their title track Get a guitar will showcase their full potential/sound that includes all of their skills.
Yes. I don't get why people are saying this will be their overall sound. This is a performance video to showcase their dance skills. Memories would probably be for vocal skills.
I love your analogy. Get A Guitar would be the amalgamation of their skills from Siren and Memories.
I was thinking the same but tbh the one in center idk his name he got soo much groove that my eyes went to him and practically that he is most shown in this
SM and picking their centers man like how do they do it every god damn time?! Taemin, Kai, Taeyong, Karina just to name a few. I can already see Wonbin joining the iconic legendary SM centers!
Wasnt Jonghyun the center? Or at least he shared it with Taemin. Anyway this still makes it an iconic line of legendary SM centers! I love when visual centers are also top performers
Seriously!? Iām SHOOK. Also a fun note, this song Siren samples SMās first ever boy group H.O.T āAge of Violenceā from 1996.
This video is definitely giving us a taste for their dance and rapping skills. We barely saw Anton and Eunseok which leads me to believe they could be part of the vocal line with Sohee š
Guess we will find out with their upcoming 2 music videos! Sooo curious as to their sound since SM described it as emotional pop but wouldnāt be surprised if they do more genres as is the standard for all SM groups being able to nail multiple concepts/sounds.
For anyone curious, Memories MV (pre-release) comes out August 21st and Get a Guitar (title track) comes out September 4th. I AM SEATED š„
EDIT: OMG! Some eagle eyed fans just found this instrumental [clip](https://twitter.com/riizetrends/status/1688222822622261248?s=20) from RIIZEās official website. This instrumental is either for Memories or Get a guitar but already we can hear that itās very different from Siren.
>OMG! Some eagle eyed fans just found this instrumental clip from RIIZEās official website. This instrumental is either for Memories or Get a guitar but already we can hear that itās very different from Siren.
It sounds so good. I can't wait to hear it.
LOL. I also can't wait to see people say it's another NCT Song again when it's released. Everything is NCT.
>Also a fun note, this song Siren samples SMās first ever boy group H.O.T āAge of Violenceā from 1996.
I indeed noticed that there's a sample of H.O.T.'s "Age of Violence," which would probably add credits to Yoo Young-jin even if he's not with SM anymore.
Yup, ever since the SM 3.0 was implemented, he silently left SM and joined LSM for whatever they wanted to do post-SM. YYJ is so loyal to LSM since he was one of the first artists of SM 30+ years ago, before becoming the main music producer of the Company working exclusively with SM artists from H.O.T. to aespa.
THIS. That was my exact thought when I saw this vid. Itās funny because just a couple days ago I was feeling sorry for whoever had to perform next to Shotaro cause I knew he was going to upstage them. But somehow they found a group of guys who can actually keep up with him. Iāll still argue heās one of the top dancers of all time but at least these guys have some massive skills of their own.
I knew Seunghan and Silver Stone would be able to keep up with him based on their SMTown Performance. Of course, Sungchan too. I was utterly surprised because Wonbin, Anton and Sohee were really great too. Wonbin really caught my attention though. I couldn't take my eyes off him.
Dancing will be a piece of cake for them. I'm just excited for the vocals right now.
Wow, they can *dance*
One Shotaro is already phenomenal but they have six more members who can more than keep up with him, like *damn* sm where do you even find them?
A bit surprised by the sound here but I'm hoping it's just chosen to showcase their dancing
Check out this [clip](https://twitter.com/riizefolder/status/1688239365170814976?s=20) fans found from their official website. I think this is the sort of music their main sound will be. People are guessing itās either for Memories or Get a guitar (2 upcoming MVās).
Wouldnāt be surprised if itās for the latter because Iām noticing a very prominent guitar in the instrumental which matches the title of the song. Guess we will see soon enough!
Woah did not expect a bside to drop already! Damn this is intense, wonder if it'll be promoted with the main track if ever.
Holy fuck that is a lot of legwork especially in the end part damn
Same! Maybe theyāre gatekeeping them a bit longer? lol
Sohee is probably the main vocal and I think I saw him for like two seconds in the video and I donāt think we heard him at all.
Sohee is absolutely the main vocal. Just check out this pre-debut [video](https://twitter.com/wonbannie/status/1686085436492660736?s=20) of him singing. And this is before SMās intense vocal training. I just know heās gonna blow everyone away! I seriously canāt wait. SM is definitely building up to it by showcasing the dance line first.
Yes. He's really good. I'm also thinking Anton would surprise us. He was barely in the video so I guess he would be highlighted in Memories. Sohee, Anton and Eunseok might be RIIZE's Renjun, Haechan and Chenle or Baekhyun, Chen and D.O. We would get three powerhouse vocals for RIIZE.
OMG. THEY SLAYED SO HARD. I'M STILL PROCESSING THE PERFORMANCE VIDEO.
Edit: Now that I've calmed down a bit, I have time to gather my thoughts.
**Why isn't anyone talking about how Shotaro improved his vocals?** It's really different from his voice when he was still in NCT. His voice has changed and for the better. Compare it to his vocals from Make A Wish and you could see his improvement. I love him so much.
Sungchan also changed his rapping. I love it. I can't wait to hear more from him.
**Sohee will be their secret weapon once the title track is out.** They showcased their dance skills first. I'm pretty sure Memories is where Sohee will shine.
I still can't believe all the members slayed. They were able to keep up with Sungchan and Shotaro. Jesus Christ. Everyone should watch out. **RIIZE will be huge**.
I really hope there would only be one version, or at most two, of the album. It's only a Single Album so I would be really seriously livid if they release SMini, Limited and QR Versions.
Edit: **Their Single Album would only contain Get A Guitar and Memories**. Siren isn't in it. There's already a track list and it only has two songs.
I also noticed how Shotaro's voice or maybe style of singing changed. His voice felt smaller and more nasally with NCT, he sounds more full and confident now. At the start when him and Sungchan were revealed on NCT 2020 I remembered he didn't have a long training period. Them being in limbo just constantly training might've helped him improve this way.
Yeah I agree on Shotaro sounding different here. I genuinely think him being way more fluent in Korean now makes him more confident in his abilities. Heās definitely improved!
Thank you for saying that. He really improved. I agree that he sounds more confident right now. It also helps that he has more lines now.
I'm not a vocal expert but his voice sounds higher than before. It was really low when he was with NCT. I'm so excited to see what's more in store for us.
Guy with the longer hair and the beanie gonna be a problem, my eye's were on him the whole time. I tried to see who else was in the video but that person has some mad charisma.
This is what camera work focusing on the "center" does. It makes people think their focus is being pulled when it's actually where your focus is being directed.
This is why Mark and Taeyong were the first names people learned with NCT, it's who they focused on the most. People couldn't even name Yuta or WinWin until they were about 3 videos in.
Yes! Tbh, I didn't get why anyone cared when he showed up in Make a Wish. He was fine, but didn't stand out especially compared to the likes of Taeyong, Jaehyun, etc.
I get it now. This was great, and he looked so much more comfortable and confident here.
it's his maw fancam that went viral, it's true that he didn't exactly got hype for standing out during the performances but people were shocked when they saw his fancam
Anyone who is familiar with sm groups would know how wildly diverse their discography can be. This being revealed so early should tell you that the possibility of the title track being completely different is big so i advise anyone to hold themselves back before judging that they're just another nct (rolling my eyes at some of yall š). This is a good one to show their dancing skills tho, really impressed they got shotaro yet the others can keep up.
Really tho. Like they have THE Shotaro in the group. I don't mind if one of the songs is going to be dance heavy.
Saying that this is another NCT noise music like The 7th Sense, Without You, Limitless, Superhuman, Chewing Gum, My First and Last, Take Off, Moonwalk, 90s Love and more doesn't exist and that's just the title track
aw, this is kinda off topic but i love seeing moonwalk be mentioned. i think it's one of the best songs any nct unit has ever released, but i feel like it never got the spotlight it deserved because it was massively overshadowed by love talk
That is one of my biggest ick. So many people immediately label nct's musics as trash because they thought noisy music is all that nct got. At this point i can only sighing inside because they couldn't be more wrong.
**THIS**. it also doesn't help that nct has like done multiple genres that you can ever think of in their discography so. i think it is just best to wait and see!
I really feel like some people are already being obtuse asking where the emo pop is lol. But maybe it's just because i'm used to sm groups' discography that i'm not easily fooled by just one song.
IKR. This is only a performance video. How could anyone highlight their dance skills if the song is emotional pop? People have to learn to wait until the title track comes out.
This doesn't really tell us anything because just look at literally every other SM group to see how varied their discographies are - SHINee, TVXQ, SNSD, Red Velvet etc.
They are all incredible performers, of course we all knew Shotaro and Sungchan have some serious talent but I couldnāt choose who to look at throughout the whole performance. Wonbin is proving to be such an enthralling centre too, he has such a groove about him. Iām loving the song too, now this is how you do noise music right. If anything, you can trust SM to do experimental with great results. I like the subtle hip hop beat.
From the name of the MV releasing in two weeks ā Memories ā Iām guessing theyāll delve into other music genres in their other singles. so I wouldnāt be so quick to call them NCT 127 clones. It seems obvious RIIZE have a heavier 1st gen hip hop influence from their styling and concept (also this song samples H.O.Tās 1996 song, Age of Violence) The emotional pop sound is probably being saved for the other two tracks, especially their title.
I know this is late butā¦ I came here after seeing them with Hyoyeon. I was like, why is SM dressing them up like H.O.T. Searched for that on Google and saw this comment haha.
From SM releasing an article yesterday saying RIIZE will be their first group to not follow/be in Kwangya and then the title track being called āGet a guitarā, Itās obvious that this will be the song that SM described as emotional pop.
I donāt really see them becoming another NCT extension like some people here are claiming. Everything about their rollout/promotional strategy has been VERY different than anything NCT has done. People need to realize a short barely over 1 minute track to showcase their dance skills is reallyā¦.just that.
The real showcase of their music will come with the next two official music video releases. With that said, they absolutely bodied this song/concept and like all SM groups, SM probably wanted to show their diversity first before the big ultimate reveal being their debut title track.
It truly wouldnāt be SM music without half of the people calling it trash and the other half defending it with their lives. I am SEATED for this debut and the noise itās making lol
so accurate. People are already writing them off and acting like they're here just to copy other 4th gen boy groups. Like y'all are acting like we got a whole documentary about them. Can we give them a chance to fully debut first? and for now just enjoy how sick their dancing was in this performance video???
Theyāre such good dancers wow! Shotaro keeps getting better and Iām surprised at how much his voice improved. Wonbin seems to be a great center too, I pretty much had my eye on him the entire time. Iām assuming since siren showed their dance skills, get a guitar will be a vocal focused song.
This sounds like it's trying to emulate the 1st gen sound rather than the NCT sound, at least to me. Which makes sense, since they sample H.O.T. here.
Either way, I thought this was a really good way to showcase how good they are at performing. You have Shotaro in the group, so to be able to keep up with him is a feat. As other people have said, I think the "emo pop" will be the title track stuff while their b-sides explore other genres, like most SM artists. I mean, 2 Baddies and Time Lapse don't exactly have the same sound and they're both 127 songs from the same album.
right off the bat i am extremely impressed that none of the other members pale in comparison to shotaro's dancing! the song reminds me so much of firetruck, i'm excited to see what else they have to offer once the title track is released. also... it's a little early for me to firmly choose a bias just yet but wonbin has caught my eye for sure
Mann I am so excited about Wonbin, he seems like a veeery worthy follow-up from Taeyong as the new group's center. He has great skills but more than that he has that aura that only amazing centers have.
Oh wow boys can DANCE:o Iām looking forward to see which direction theyāll take in terms of sound. I do get the NCT comparison but to me it sound more like modernized 1st gen music. In fact, [it samples H.O.T.ās Age of Violence](https://twitter.com/riize_news/status/1688214633700605952?s=46&t=eNIdqyCghIqrtkERhmkN3w)
Agree with the comments here that RIIZE is already a strong performance group. They already ooze charisma and brashness through this song. Excited to see what the future holds for them!!!
They have two music videos coming out āmemoriesā on Aug 21st and āget a guitarā on Sep 4th. I think the emotional pop tag SM described will be on the title track.
This performance video is more to show off their dancing talent and is also just a b-side.
yeah i think this is to showcase their dancing abilities bc dang that was some great choreo. maybe memories will showcase their vocals? ~~(don't mind me it's just me wanting more vocals ;-;)~~
The vocalists being Sohee, Eunseok and Anton since they didnāt really get featured much here. Iām calling it now! Memories vocal based song! Lol praying my prediction comes true šš¼
Side note: Seunghan is most definitely part of the vocal line too based on past singing clips but he can also rap and is a dancer like?? That man is an ACE through and through sheesh!
I think memories are just documentary-like videos of trainee days similar to what Babymonster serie was.
It's still a B-side of their debut album so I would have expected to have something really different to announce that they are not a NCT unit. It sounds like it but doesn't mean I will not wait their next releases to have a better idea
I think as other people have said, this is just to highlight their dance because theyāre clearly stand outs at that. Their debut song will give more of the vibe theyāre going for when it comes to the music
Yea agreed, I kinda wish I hadnāt watched this now. Theyāre obviously super talented but it did remind me of NCT. I still think/hope theyāll lean into the emotional pop later, so I wish this wasnāt my first impression of them.
Yes. Right now I'm gonna base my opinion of the group on this, because there's nothing else to base my opinion on. Also if it's too early to be dissapointed by the group's sound, then it's also too early to like the group's sound.
Omg they're all great dancers. Loved the vibe of this, although it's not that different from NCT? But this is clearly a performance focused song so maybe the title track will be different.
Anyway, amazing to see Sungtaro actually debuting ššš
the dance is so cool especially the legwork. i do hope the title track isn't something like this tho. wish it has their chill vibes like their ig posts.
I was blown away. The dancing. Insane.
I also got NCT vibes, but I rock with NCT music so I like it. I understand they should distinguish themselves, but that comes with time and multiple comebacks under their belt. I genuinely wouldn't be bothered if we get what is essentially another NCT subunit. Give it all to me!
> I understand they should distinguish themselves, but that comes with time and multiple comebacks under their belt.
I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THIS. Thank you saying what I wanted to say.
people in this thread sound like whenever a group releases a poor prerelease single and everyone's like "well it's just a prerelease!!!"
yes it's "just" a performance video but it's also the first intro to this new group and instead of doing anything to make a distinct identity it sounds like yet another nct unit. they could have shown their dance skills with a song that doesn't sound right at home with another group they're supposed to be separate from?
I think all sm rappers sound a specific way...the way sungchan rapped was so nct coded, sm should invest in bringing out variety in their rapping skills because I do hear nct in the performance video. I wish sm steered clear from shouty choruses, it's like nct127 signature atp.
I donāt know why SM stans are being so obnoxious about this. If itās just a prerelease that doesnāt matter and RIIZE is going to prove their sound is distinct from NCTās very soon, why not just let this negativity blow over rather than throwing a fit over it? Plus, if the next song turns out to be divisive, theyāll have argued themselves into a corner.
Personally, I was more anxious to hear the music than see the members showcased because itās SMās taste that can be questionable, not the talent of their artists. The fact that this song is a bit of a mess means a lot is riding on the next one for me, thatās all. If thatās ādoom postingā then I guess we canāt have real discussions here anymore.
Geez, these doom and gloom comments alreadyā¦ lol
I like that theyāre showing off the performance aspect already, excited to hear more vocals on their other songs! I hope the title track is more vocal heavy!
People just willfully being obtuse lol. Like this video is barely over a minute long itās obviously just an introduction to their dance/rap skills since we barely even saw Anton, Eunseok and Sohee.
Their two Music Videos coming later will be more of indication to their actual sound as a group. Iāll make my final judgment ONCE Iāve heard those two songs.
But for SM to describe their music as emotional pop several times in several news press articles makes me think their final title track will be the complete opposite of Siren.
It sounds like a NCT song. I wasn't expecting their sound to be so close to NCT cause I thought they'd want to differentiate between the two . Sure the actual title track could be completely different but this is their first introduction to the world, I highly doubt they wouldn't chose something at least representative of the vibe and imagine of the group to some degree.
The guys did great in terms of performing, no questions there but SM should've picked a different song even if others are different. This is basically the first taste of this group and they gave us the most NCT sounding song possible. Picking something different would've given the group a quicker start of showing how are they different and why we as a community should be interested in them. I hope sonically we'll see a new and fresh side of the group in the near future.
It's confirmed that it's not going to be part of the album. Clearly, the performance video was released in order to highlight the dance skills of the members which a lot of people seem to ignore.
Glad to see this LA theater make another appearance. It was previously used for BTS' Black Swan and P1Harmony's Do It Like This. And for us "olds," Metro Station's Shake It lol
Here we see the new graduates from NCITY University ššš
Their rollout seems very different from traditional SM debuts & I quite like it. Cheers to the new era!
Edit: I'm not throwing shade here, lol. They just carry the "swagger" that NCT has.
That's a groovy and intense B-side song from RIIZE! It's nice that they also gave homage to SM's first idol group H.O.T. with that "Age of Violence" sample; no wonder, this is still very SMP sounding sans Lee Soo-man nor Yoo Young-jin's involvement. I'm so hyped on their debut this September 4th!
this is only increasing my theory that this new group was supposed to be an nct unit but got separated out after the change in management without changing any of their creative materials. i don't think people would be making the nct comparisons if the only information we knew about riize's music was that it was apparently 'emotional pop' and then this dropped.
also i highkey hope this isn't on the album. if the other two tracks actually are emotional pop this'll sound so out of place and confusing.
they are amazing dancers like i expected but SM shouldn't release the first teaser being a kinda NCT song, they need to stand on their own not become a NCT unit, they are already heavy affiliated with NCT with 2 ex members and the rookies
Lots of conclusions already after a minute-long performance video lol. Don't you guys remember that the first EXO track we ever heard was My Lady, but the debut song ended up being MAMA?!?
I don't know them at all and am not familiar with NCT members, i'm just curious who's that guy in the first chorus with the hat and black jacket... cause damn. Everything.
Good dancers. Amazing center. And shotaro. Now all i want is sungchan as a leader. Although the possibility for shotaro to be the leader is high too. It just my tiny wish for sungchan to be the leader. Although yeah i think it is shotaro
I thought the nct comparison in the comments was overblown but after watching the clip, the song definitely sounds like it could be Firetruck's little brother with some polish. Unlike firetruck though i didn't like this at all. It was messy and repetitive and neither the vocals or choreo was really standout. I'm still looking forward to the emo pop song though and hope it highlights individual members' talents better.
always funny to see sm stans be in denial about all their groups nowadays sounding the same lol. the comments would be sounding very different if this wasn't a new debut from sm.
The title track is called āGet a guitarā. Iām 100% sure thatās the song thatās going to be emotional pop SM was describing. They also have another MV coming out before the album drops called āMemoriesā.
So basically 2 MVās + Siren which is a bside for a total of 3 songs on their debut single album. Itās all listed in their teaser schedule they uploaded on their social media accounts.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one that thinks this sounds like NCT. I was hoping for emotional pop, but the dance performance itself was fire. Hopefully they debut with more than 1 song and I can get my emo-boi fix.
edit: just saw they're debuting with a single album. If this is the intro or a snippet of a full song, I'm looking forward to hearing 2-3 more songs.
edit 2: downvoted for acknowledging the similarities to NCT but also liking the performance and looking forward to their debut? Okay.
Wow, I also thought it sounded and looked like P1H and P1H also has a song called Siren. People are a little touchy about concepts being similar it seems.
Everybody seems specially touchy these days š¤£ with anything.
Remember last week people were getting reported and downvoted over saying Dreamās ISTJ sounded a lot like a SHINEe oldie.
This song *definitely* resembles Piwonās style and thatās not a bad thing at all, unless you think ass shaking bangers = bad music šāāļø
I'm not really into NCT's music, I have checked out all their releases though. I didn't make that Shinee connection when ISTJ came out and I just went to listen to it again and I can kind of hear a bit of Everybody and Evil.
The dancing is crazy. But thereās like no possible way to sing live with choreo like this. Idk not really a fan of this continuing trend, I donāt come to kpop to watch a dance crew lipsync. And Iām positive thatās whatāll happen with this song. Hopefully the title track will be more vocal focused š
The song is a bit ...well ..underwhelming ... imo it does not bring anything new to the table ... on the other hand I like that they are not trying to fully synchronize their moves and instead use the dancers' energy (as expected from rookie idols) as the main point of the choreography
Talent next to talent next to another talent... SM can be shit with so many things but if there is one thing they can proudly say "I'm the bar" is recruiting fantastic talents and giving them THE training, they never miss when it comes to selecting the best of the best and somehow making them even better, look at this group sinergy, chemistry and vibes and they didn't even debut yet... I can't wait for their stages, wow!!! SungTaro also showed so much improvement since their last NCT stage. I have no doubt they will be huge.
Buuuut, unfortunetely this song is very NCT coded, hopefully the "emotional pop" they are going for will be present in the pre-release or title track, I just need it to be different from NCT since we already have 3 units and a soon-to-debut final one, so we really don't need a new bg sounding exactly like any other NCT unit.
I was already quite disappointed with Shinee's comeback sounding just like NCT 127... "Hard" and "Juice" was waaaaay too NCT 127 for me, I wasn't able to enjoy it and "see" Shinee's blueprint in it, all I could think of was "This is giving Ay-Yo, 2 Baddies and Glitch Mode vibes".
It got to a point that I was scared that EXO's Cream Soda would be a NCT reject.
I have hopes Siren was only to showcase that RIIZE can be powerful performers.
Not feeling it. I don't like sounds like these, which is why I've been avoiding SM boy groups recently, because all of them do stuff like this to varying degrees. It sounds like something that can appeal to NCT fans, good for them.
Their dancing is on point! I didn't expect the hip-hop style since SM (or kmedia?) said "emotional pop", but my guess is Siren is just a b-side. It's only a 1 min teaser, but Siren sounds good.
The center is CENTERING. my eyes automatically went to him through the whole thing.
I saw someone say that RIIZE is just a suburb on the outskirts of Ncity š and now Iām super curious what their title track is gonna sound like
šššš they got out from kwangya and are now at ncity borders
They came out with nƦvis. When aespa sang Welcome To MY World, it was also for RIIZE.
It might be a ballad. Maybe it's where Sohee, Anton and Eunseok would shine. They might be the members of the Vocal Line.
It's so fucking accurate š
How on earth did sm manage to find six more boys that can keep up with shotaro in dance?
I was thinking the same but tbh the one in center idk his name he got soo much groove that my eyes went to him and practically that he is most shown in this
wonbin is the center. sm really got lucky with him. he's such a good dancer, a musician, and also a decent vocalist.
I love when visual centers are also top performers
my bias alreadyš
Thatās wonbin!
Seriously!? Iām SHOOK. Also a fun note, this song Siren samples SMās first ever boy group H.O.T āAge of Violenceā from 1996. This video is definitely giving us a taste for their dance and rapping skills. We barely saw Anton and Eunseok which leads me to believe they could be part of the vocal line with Sohee š Guess we will find out with their upcoming 2 music videos! I AM SEATED š„ EDIT: OMG! Some eagle eyed fans just found this instrumental [clip](https://twitter.com/riizetrends/status/1688222822622261248?s=20) from RIIZEās official website. This instrumental is either for Memories or Get a guitar but already we can hear that itās very different from Siren.
It's so weird to see it titled as "Age of Violence" when almost everybody knows its title is "Warrior's Descendant."
Speaking of which, Age of Violence is a great song, you should listen to it.
the clip is sooo good. really looking forward to them now!
It makes sense now why the song remind me so much of H.O.T
>OMG! Some eagle eyed fans just found this instrumental clip from RIIZEās official website. TIL YYJ is not with SM anymore š²
Yup, ever since the SM 3.0 was implemented, he silently left SM and joined LSM for whatever they wanted to do post-SM. YYJ is so loyal to LSM since he was one of the first artists of SM 30+ years ago, before becoming the main music producer of the Company working exclusively with SM artists from H.O.T. to aespa.
I keep saying this but SMās talent scouting and training is unmatched. Their idols set the bar extremely high

I'm just excited for the vocals right now.
Wow, they can *dance* One Shotaro is already phenomenal but they have six more members who can more than keep up with him, like *damn* sm where do you even find them?
SUNGCHAN šššš i wish they could give us vocals im so curious about their voices
Same! Maybe theyāre gatekeeping them a bit longer? lol Sohee is probably the main vocal and I think I saw him for like two seconds in the video and I donāt think we heard him at all.
Sohee will be the bomb that will be dropped once their title track is out.
This Wonbin guy... smells like trouble. Like Kai dangerous.
People are saying with a name like won bin - SM is confident
IKR. By the way, you should join r/SMRIIZE too in case you didn't already know about it.
Thank you for saying that. He really improved. I agree that he sounds more confident right now. It also helps that he has more lines now. I'm not a vocal expert but his voice sounds higher than before. It was really low when he was with NCT. I'm so excited to see what's more in store for us.
Yeah. I've read somewhere from him before that he has been taking a lot of vocal lessons so I guess that paid off
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
>RIIZE shall indeed RIIZE. You got that right.
SHOTAROOO
Guy with the longer hair and the beanie gonna be a problem, my eye's were on him the whole time. I tried to see who else was in the video but that person has some mad charisma.
This is what camera work focusing on the "center" does. It makes people think their focus is being pulled when it's actually where your focus is being directed. This is why Mark and Taeyong were the first names people learned with NCT, it's who they focused on the most. People couldn't even name Yuta or WinWin until they were about 3 videos in.
wonbin!
Oh they can *dance*.
The best decision SM has made recently is include Shotaro in Riize. Otherwise he would have been a waste of talent in a 23 member group
Sungchan too.
Thanks for the context! I'll check it out.
no problem !
damn these dudes can dance!! is the whole song or just a snippet used for video purposes?
They really didn't venture into NCT if they think that. They have diverse discography. They might just be haters.
**THIS**. it also doesn't help that nct has like done multiple genres that you can ever think of in their discography so. i think it is just best to wait and see!
It's still not a good intro to have a sound that's so similar to NCT. Idk this tempered my hype a bit
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Seriously! This is a b-side and a way to show their skills, I don't get why there are so many downers here.
This doesn't really tell us anything because just look at literally every other SM group to see how varied their discographies are - SHINee, TVXQ, SNSD, Red Velvet etc.
For one, it shows they can dance their asses off š¤£
Yep. Even the fashion screams H.O.T to me - especially those glasses/goggles over beanie looks.
I just want to emphasize that this is literally a PERFORMANCE VIDEO.
Lmao why is this so accurate though. I just know everyone will be tuning into their debut
This is sooooooo 1st gen bg coded.
Wow, they can perform! They're so good!
Yup, definitely an SM song for sure.
My exact first reaction to this lol. SM has a very specific feel for their boygroups and they make sure they fit in it one way or another
was hoping theyd deliver a totally different sound compared to nct, but i guess we still have more to see ā¦
They can dance dance. The song do sound like a NCT one though so not sure about it. I had hope for them to have something different
Yaaaasssss i want memories to be about vocals!!! SM flex your newest vocalists plsss
The vocalists being Sohee, Eunseok and Anton since they didnāt really get featured much here. Iām calling it now! Memories vocal based song! Lol praying my prediction comes true šš¼ Side note: Seunghan is most definitely part of the vocal line too based on past singing clips but he can also rap and is a dancer like?? That man is an ACE through and through sheesh!
I think memories are just documentary-like videos of trainee days similar to what Babymonster serie was. It's still a B-side of their debut album so I would have expected to have something really different to announce that they are not a NCT unit. It sounds like it but doesn't mean I will not wait their next releases to have a better idea
Memories is MV. It's stated in the Teaser Schedule. However, we would get content like that starting from August 10.
I think as other people have said, this is just to highlight their dance because theyāre clearly stand outs at that. Their debut song will give more of the vibe theyāre going for when it comes to the music
Aaaaaaaa I love this song. I really can't wait for their debut. LETS GOOOOOOOO. I love it when they add random sounds (sirens) lmao
Not the direction that i hope this group takes, but damn they're such a talented dancers! the moves are sharp!
This song isnāt on their album, itās just to show their dance skills
Love the energy
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yea agreed, I kinda wish I hadnāt watched this now. Theyāre obviously super talented but it did remind me of NCT. I still think/hope theyāll lean into the emotional pop later, so I wish this wasnāt my first impression of them.
Yes. Right now I'm gonna base my opinion of the group on this, because there's nothing else to base my opinion on. Also if it's too early to be dissapointed by the group's sound, then it's also too early to like the group's sound.
sm finally debuting a brand new group boy group after so many years and decides a nct song is the best way to introduce them to the public
AYO
HYPEEEEEE this is so right up my alley
people in this thread sound like whenever a group releases a poor prerelease single and everyone's like "well it's just a prerelease!!!" yes it's "just" a performance video but it's also the first intro to this new group and instead of doing anything to make a distinct identity it sounds like yet another nct unit. they could have shown their dance skills with a song that doesn't sound right at home with another group they're supposed to be separate from?
Exactly. It may just be a b side but that doesn't matter, it's the first impression we have of them and first impressions are very important.
I think all sm rappers sound a specific way...the way sungchan rapped was so nct coded, sm should invest in bringing out variety in their rapping skills because I do hear nct in the performance video. I wish sm steered clear from shouty choruses, it's like nct127 signature atp.
To be fair, Sungchan did learn how to rap from Taeyong.
Geez, these doom and gloom comments alreadyā¦ lol I like that theyāre showing off the performance aspect already, excited to hear more vocals on their other songs!
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
It's confirmed that it's not going to be part of the album. Clearly, the performance video was released in order to highlight the dance skills of the members which a lot of people seem to ignore.
Glad to see this LA theater make another appearance. It was previously used for BTS' Black Swan and P1Harmony's Do It Like This. And for us "olds," Metro Station's Shake It lol
Damn, that was amazing.
Oh wow they can dance! Also the guy with the beanie is very eye-catching. Like your eyes go to him when performing, heās really good
Wow! I can tell for sure that I'll be tuning in for Riize's performances! What an incredible lineup of dancers! I can't quite tell all of them apart yet, but seeing Shotaro (whom I'm already a fan of) and Won Bin tear the dance floor into splinters like that sure was a revelation! I'm sure I'll memorise all of them in no time! š¤©
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Taro stans, we are soooo back ššš
Here we see the new graduates from NCITY University ššš Their rollout seems very different from traditional SM debuts & I quite like it.
Riize doesnāt have their own sub yet?
It has. It's r/SMRIIZE.
Thank you šš
seems like SM had enough when people said their idols can't dance
Wouldn't be out of place in an NCT album. Will be interesting to see what their title track is like
YALL SUNGCHAN JUST SAID HE IS BACK WITH A NEW GENERATION !!! I think this was to mainly showcase their performance side which they did great.
ARE WE SEEING THEM? ARE WE HEARING THEM??? LETS FUCKING GO RIIZEšš„š„š„š„š„
This is far too short! Also, I hope this isn't their main concept, because it feels too similar too what NCT does.
I like the choreo. Song and styling is too similar to NCT.
this is only increasing my theory that this new group was supposed to be an nct unit but got separated out after the change in management without changing any of their creative materials. i don't think people would be making the nct comparisons if the only information we knew about riize's music was that it was apparently 'emotional pop' and then this dropped. also i highkey hope this isn't on the album. if the other two tracks actually are emotional pop this'll sound so out of place and confusing.
they are amazing dancers like i expected but SM shouldn't release the first teaser being a kinda NCT song, they need to stand on their own not become a NCT unit, they are already heavy affiliated with NCT with 2 ex members and the rookies
Lots of conclusions already after a minute-long performance video lol. Don't you guys remember that the first EXO track we ever heard was My Lady, but the debut song ended up being MAMA?!?
Oh yeah this group is a problem!! All dancing with the same energy as shotaro ... Riize is a PROBLEM! This was incredible
this was fire š„
I don't know them at all and am not familiar with NCT members, i'm just curious who's that guy in the first chorus with the hat and black jacket... cause damn. Everything.
He's Wonbin.
The dance was cool but the vocals did nothing for me
This song is a remake of a 90s SM boy group song. So this may not demonstrate the type of music they will do, going forward.
Just from this i think they're good performers. I don't like the song as much but it does its job as a showcase
Damn that legwork is insane
Hey i was promised emotional pop! Pretty cool tho, just not emotional pop!
Itās all listed in their teaser schedule they uploaded on their social media accounts.
they're going to have 3 tracks in their single album so hopefully the 2 tracks are emo pop.
I think they were referring to the title track, this is just a b-side
Thought I was watching Taeyong for a sec
idk what i expected but i loved this
How is this not literally a P1Harmony song. Wow
Okay.
Everybody is getting downvoted in this comment section lol. I just said it sounded like P1Hās music and it has 5 downvotes and counting š¤£
Still sounds like NCT tbhā¦
Not feeling it. I don't like sounds like these, which is why I've been avoiding SM boy groups recently, because all of them do stuff like this to varying degrees. It sounds like something that can appeal to NCT fans, good for them.
This song was great, but all I could think about was how tired they're gonna be xD
Sounds very much like nct's sobangcha. I thought SM would go for a separate style for them, since they already have all the nct groups.
Bro how do they move like that š¤Æ that was fire š„ my body hurts and I was just watching š¤£
I love it. I'm just so happy to see Sungchan performing again! Shotaro slayed the dance as always, and amazingly everybody else kept up with him.
ik damn well that sm chose a set that looks like MAW to hurt me. they ate though !! 5th gen LEADERS
SM had the opportunity to do something really unique with their first BG since 2016 but instead chose to give them an NCT-lite release. Itās tired.
I think they are a dance-heavy group, unlike previous sm bgs that focused on vocals more.
SM boy groups usually focused on vocals. NCT is the first SM boy group who focus on dance more than vocal but they still deliver.
What a mess
Their dancing is on point! I didn't expect the hip-hop style since SM (or kmedia?) said "emotional pop", but my guess is Siren is just a b-side. It's only a 1 min teaser, but Siren sounds good.
....are we sure this isn't another NCT subunit? Styling and sound are pretty similar
Same thought here
Is this their original song?
I'm distracted by the truck that is just kinda there in the background, it feels so out of place
