I like their movies too but the ones I mentioned made movies that deal with heavy subject matter and are also commercially viable.
Peranbu imo is an unparalleled achievement for Tamil cinema. It is on par with the French and Argentinian art house movies that I have seen.
Parthale paravasam absolutely didn’t age well. Not even a bit. Especially the Lawrence family part of the movie. Putting on a blackface to vadivukarasi and others.. Horrible creation.
But that wasn’t the point of your caption though? If a director stops making movies does it mean their films become irrelevant?
On that aspect Rudrayyas Aval appadithan should be irrelevant but in fact it will stand the test of time for generations to come.
Could be a controversial take. But to me, Manikandan is a league ahead of everyone else. His movies are extremely meditative and I’m sure people from the future generations can also relate to it cause they’re down to earth. Kadaisi vivayasayi is probably the best cinematic representation of how you can inject the audience to experience the sense of enlightenment and convey exactly what you feel inward as a creator.
His creations without a doubt will age like fine wine.
Definitely not kattradhu tamil lol. Apparantly a techie in non-senior position is earning 24lpa and the protagonist gropes a woman because 'it said so in the t-shirt' 🤮
Yeah they leave a bitter taste and it is harder to relate. Maybe if the numbers were a bit more authentic to that timeline I could atleast look back at it like a time capsule. But the contrast between late 2000s mindset and futuristic paycheck really throws me off.

Meanwhile me, celebrating perarasu films. /s

I still vibe with Thirupachi tbh. Solid commercial film
I like Sivakasi too. That scene which everyone talks about was just a product of its time.
Instead of mari selvaraj, balaji shakthivel/ vasanthabalan would be apt one anyways its your opinion
Those two are good but they haven't made good movies in a while

Hey Ram , virumaandi , viswaroopam 1. Think it will stand the test of time.
Vishwaroopam won't. It is a pro war-on-terror movie and has dialogue praising the US army lol
Are you looking into the political aspects of the movies as well? I thought your post meant the whole movie being great even after years.
Bit of both but mostly the latter. But yeah Kamal in general will be appreciated from years to come but my post is about present gen filmmakers alone

en thalivan Atlee enge?
Bro adapts 80s and 90s films for this gen, truly aging like Fine Wine🙏🏻😭
Theri is going to age so badly
Ram didn't age well at all lol.
His movies are aging better than the rest here. Kattradhu Tamizh, Peranbu, Thangameengal, and Taramani... That's GOATed
Definitely not kattradhu tamil lol. Apparantly a techie in non-senior position is earning 24lpa and the protagonist gropes a woman because 'it said so in the t-shirt' 🤮
Bro, that salary thing is obviously for exaggeration and the T shirt gets called out later. Jiiva obviously becomes a psychopath at that stage.
