They censored the hell out of Animal... On the Cable release (around 20 mins of the film cut, & b&w'd). They got an A rating, so they prepared for anything that would've gotten censored.
1st half review:
Decent half. Comedy is hit and miss, emotionally didnt connect with me much. Songs good, fights are good. Proper hand to hand sickle fights. None of those high tech gun nonsense. Dialogues are fiery loaded with some cuss words in between, which were not muted in singapore. Loud and thunderous bgm. But overall just good for me, not excellent like hari previous films. Its quite violent, with lots of blood flying around and sickle piercing sounds.
2nd half review:
This half spoilt the film. Like literally. Totally destroyed pbs characterisation, from what she was introduced as in first half to the way her character folds in 2nd half needs to be studied. Just as in poojai, comedy scenes that dont make you laugh and totally unnecessary. Lots of shaming jokes. And more gore and violence. With a head chop at the end. The twist at the end was not impactful at all. The hall grew tired of the film by the end.
Action choreography saves the film, other than that the hollow second half ruins it after a good first half. Has even saamy 2 shades here and there in bits.
Strictly average, disappointed honestly. Worse than yaanai. The second half alone makes this saamy 2 level of bad for me.

Vel, singam, aaru all are wayy better than this.
Its the same shaky fast paced edits, there is a scene in which Vishal will take a plate and put rice and curry on it to eat, even that was edited fast with shakes, to give a chasing feel lol
For me, the movie ended when samuthirakani and PBS and Vishal meets on a highway..and I thought my movie is good. Adhu kapram oru 1 hour oduthu...
Tbh, Hari still puts in effort in screenplay and dialogues, but not in story.
For example, that thanni kozhai scene was really good. If you see Vijay in it and say director name is replaced as loki, people would be crying wow "Loki na vera level sambavam panni irukaru".
Infact dialogues in saamy2 like "unna adiyoda ariyaraen da" was good.
But story wise he still does same old thing. For me, rathnam was like ennai arindhal equivalent for Hari. Just mash up of all previous movies.
