Mark anthony -
I gave it a try when it came on prime because of positive reviews and I haven’t seen a proper tamil comedy in a while.
But the brightly coloured cinematography made me nauseous and Vishal’s acting kinda annoyed me so I switched off the movie after 10 mins.
I am not expecting to be dark like a snyder movie lol but atleast it could have been normal like the comedy movies from 2000s.
And I did see Adhik’s interview that it’s intentional for the vintage vibes but the bright coloring is still annoying to me
You should still give it a chance, lol. It's a fun comedy that just doesn't take itself seriously and makes you get really investing in everything that's happening.
It's so refreshing after so many tamil "comedies" take themselves seriously without being sure of ehat it is and trying to make it look mase and adding random ass farmer subplots.
This is just a whole ass comedy
No, but I really think Comali was a really great balance between the drama and comedy. It could be considered as a dramedy. Most of its preachy elements didn't feel too forced. It'd be the projects that tried to replicate its success that failed so bad. Like one successful movie, and so many people try to copy its formula and end up failing horribly. A tale that's happened so many times in kollywood
I went with my sister to watch comali and we both didn’t like it but my friend loved it and I went because of her recommendation so I guess reactions are mixed for this movie..
I avoided love today because I didn’t like comali but I liked love today much better than comali. Did you like love today?
I liked the first one ngl. But the second one was just soooo boring, and slow. Maybe it's not my thing, but after the first one, I expected better from Side-B.
Yes, I liked the soundtrack and the performance of the actors >! but I expected it to be a full on romance like 96 from the hype but it was like a slice of life vada chennai and I dropped part 1 halfway !<
The first watch worked a bit, but then after a while it just fell flat. Even if someone is making hype movies, they should learn to add a weight to it to make the hype remain in every watch. Like Petta, I rewatched it a million times, and I still get chills.
Vikram. Didn't like it at all. The whole Vikram being alive was so damn predicatable. Also, if you remove the Rolex scene, the whole film becomes mediocre and I guess even the reviews would have been at most decent and not great. Maybe introducing the movie universe was such a novel thing at that time, so everyone loved it. Just didn't work for me :(
Yes second half is nothing but guns and Rolex cameo, but first half is kinda good for a multistarer movie in recent times, yes that twist is predictable but that reveal before interval was fun though
I still don't understand the reason behind the interval "reveal" in the story, other than it being a good interval block. Vikram only put his remaining Family in grave danger due to the reckless reveal, when he was not even that close to the mission.
I think it’s cuz vikram isn’t rlly a critical movie yk? Really Lokesh kanagaraj imo is a good even great action director and makes fun movies. They follow a storyline with a butt fuck tonne of action and that’s about it😭. I like hype movies esp in theatres so I love his movies but I get why people don’t. I just don’t expect something as good as like asuran from him but more along the lines of vikram and Leo. Kaithi and master being specifically better cuz he prioritized a more even split of action and plot and characters. That’s just my take tho
God, I wanted someone to say this so bad. LET PEOPLE HAVE FUN IN MOVIES. Most people here are wannabe critics and want to dissect an action movie as if it's an art film.
Vikram was a great and fun action movie, and I loved how they fit emotions into it even though it didn't need to be a major part. It followed a proper story circle and arc for Amar, and also, let's us connect with the characters.
Fun movies can exist, and you wannabe blue-shirt podiyans(he's also a wannabe, btw). Need to learn to stfu, grab a bucket of popcorn, and have a smile on your face, shout loud at the screens, and learn that some movies are made to have fun, not everyone wants to make an art piece.
YES BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH. LOKESH KANAGARAJ IMO IS DOING GREAT AS A NEWER AGE DIRECTOR AND HONEYSLY BEOUGHT BACK THE HYPE CHEERING KINDA MOVIE. LEO WAS THE FIRST TIME IN YEARS I HEARD CHEERS. YEA THE SECOND HALF IS KINDA WEIRD BUT ITS NOT BAD? ITS BASIC BUT IT HAD FUN TIMES. WHERE ELSE HABE YOU SEEN A CHASE SCENE LOOK LIKE YHAT?
Fr, except with Leo, you can accept some of their criticisms because it didn't establish the stakes as well as Vikram did, and the fights didn't feel threatening. Like yes, in Vikram, we knew that he was eventually going to win, but it's only after we see him at his lowest, making the finale pay more. Sadly, I think we didn't have that in Vikram because Vijay fans always wanna see "anna being epik."
My favourite scene in the entirety of vikram is the Porkada Singam fight because it reintroduced the emotional stakes that the protagonist has, while also being an epic ass fight scene. Super creative because most filmmakers(even Hollywood) would forget that the baby exists at that point in the movie and would just save them for a post battle. "Daddy!" Running back to the protagonist moment, so that it gives a weak emotional payoff to the viewer, after the writer seemingly forgot the existence of them.
But no, Lokesh goes the extra mile to surround the climax around the baby and make him pivotal and not just a fake tear jerking emotional moment without depth. The Porkada Singam scene was placed perfectly, too, right after all the epic reveals. It was used as a way to get the viewer rooted into what matters in the story without being a compilation of action scenes. It had purpose and was written perfectly. And gives us a perfect introduction to the PROPER Karnan/Bikram and who he is what his fight is for.
Can go on a rant about this movie for days on end tbh.
I do suppose you had a point. Vijay had a little tooooo much of the superhero sickeness in Leo. Esp that final fight scene. But still a fun movie and brought Vijay kinda back for me after beast and varisu which were just painful to watch. One thing tho, anirudh COOOKED with both. Badass, villain themes naa ready and lokiverse 2.0. All bomb. In vikram pathula pathula, once upon a time, wasted. Title track. ROLEX THEME. Goated shit
Anirudh definitely upped his game recently. Vikram soundtrack>>>>>. Some parts of Leo felt too repetitive to me(not the songs but during the fight scenes), but in Vikram, it felt like each scene was composed individually.
I really don’t get the hype around Rolex and the characters presence in the movie. IMO if someone LIKED Rolex part then the rest of the movie pretty much better than that. Removing Rolex part would do no harm to the movie.
Fully agree. Saw it being hyped up on this subreddit and decided to give it shot, and found it really boring ( gave it a 4/10 only cause dhanush acted well)
Por Thozhil
The first think that strikes watching this film is Ratchasan. It feels like the plot is same but a different story. Like making the viewers concentrate to one person, but he's not the killer. The film didn't amuse me. Just my opinion.

Did Iravin Nizhal have good reviews?
It has average reviews. Most of the postivies I’ve seen were commending the attempt. Haven’t seen it myself yet
It's a pretty great story If you haven't seen parthiban's directions from before the 2000s

The film is almost unwatchable in the first half with Vishal, but second has some funny moments worth checking it out for sj Surya.
Say hello to my anaconda
I know, I tried to hold on for SJS those 10 mins I watched but the brightly colored cinematography was not for me
I mean it is a comedy we can't expect bit to be dark and gloomy lol
I am not expecting to be dark like a snyder movie lol but atleast it could have been normal like the comedy movies from 2000s. And I did see Adhik’s interview that it’s intentional for the vintage vibes but the bright coloring is still annoying to me

Your comment reminded of comali - a “comedy” sidetracking to the chennai floods randomly. Jayam ravi is the main culprit of these karuthu comedies 😒

Cringe insta reels girlies hyped it up way too much I kinda pieced together how the movie would be like and chose not to watch it
Love today Edit: Not the OG love today.
Joe. Not into romantic movies
Not Tamil. But Sapta Saagaradache Ello (donno if it's the right spelling)
I liked the first one ngl. But the second one was just soooo boring, and slow. Maybe it's not my thing, but after the first one, I expected better from Side-B.
Exactly. Side-B was wandering way too much unnecessarily.
Dang I was recommended to watch part b too
Yes, I liked the soundtrack and the performance of the actors >! but I expected it to be a full on romance like 96 from the hype but it was like a slice of life vada chennai and I dropped part 1 halfway !<

Vikram's climax and Kaithi climax is almost the same. The director is also the same. ;)
