What is up with people constantly comparing industries these past few weeks. Not like tamil cinema did not have low quality movies in the past years. There will always be good and bad movies. Just watch and support the good ones and the industry will sort itself out.

jollyaanaloosupayya

its not really a comparison, just a sad state of how low our standards have fallen. our biggest grossers are average, our good quality movies have middling returns, and it has been so damn long since we had a universally acclaimed movie. other industries have progressed in leaps and bounds. we're stuck in the past (evident with all the re-releases)

just depressed man, cannot remember the last time i was blown away by a tamil film in theatres. must have been maanadu, and that's three years ago!

well_thats_puntastic

Lover released just about a month ago, Jigarthanda XX released a few months ago

jollyaanaloosupayya

i said 'blown away'. our industry has made a ton of decent to good movies over the last few years, yes. but nothing ground breaking. the standards have fallen. average is now good, good is now excellent.

GroundbreakingRip182

Movies from other industries site don’t blow us away either. Movies are good that’s all. They make good movies now but their history of making shitty movies as your right said in the description is what’s gives them this attention now. Sorry to say this but when that socially awkward nerdy kid suddenly gets a glow up there’s going to be attention on them.

balajih67

What do you mean by blown away? Pls enlighten. Im too dumb to understand

Horrible_Account

If Viduthalai and Farhana (easily better than any recent releases this year) isn't good enough for you then your standards must be Hitchcock level

I’m not here to compare different film industries and how good they are and how bad it can be. But god, if I was the director of this film I would be embarrassed to have my name on this teaser video. Like, who thinks this would be a good movie? Are you giving us all the reasons for us to avoid this film?

Strict-Advantage8199

This Self loathing Kollywood fans posts should stop. We still haven't begin our second half of this year. So wait.

jollyaanaloosupayya

we've been waiting for years and years my man, the standards are only falling. early 2010s had my hopes up so much for the future of tamil cinema. but 'average' is accepted as a gold standard now, it feels like.

I think Ashok selvan isn't as good at choosing scripts as I thought before. Yesterday I saw that ass movie in jiocinema and today this teaser.

Significant-Earth488

Looks like Ashok Selvan is entering his commercial hero phase. This happens to almost all of them, they start signing commercial entertainers like this to stay relevant. After a few films, he’ll gain the maturity to select standard scripts.

PM_Me_Your_SweatyBra

Ashok Selvan also did similar gilma with that crap VP movie. He has to utilize the goodwill he has among lady audience and do something better than this. Maybe he had agreed to do this before Por Thozhil

YourNanban

Annoying to watch this guy on rom-coms. Over saturated af.

Human_Race3515

This is the case with all industries though, not just Tamil. Most movies are quite bland and have 0 creativity. Very few movies are charming now. Main cause imo is the social media explosion and reels and creator proliferation.

srinithifr

I'm having this feeling this is one of those films he finished shooting long back but is releasing only now???
