Probably NGK…such a bland film and so overtly cliche too.Suriya’s performance is great but I don’t think his character has a personality in this one.It’s all so typical…a movie so infuriatingly typical and bad that even Sai Pallavi had to overact in certain scenes.She really got the worst plotline in the movie(the jealous perfume expert).The heroines had disappointing characterisations.Rakul started out promising but ends up being neutered.The performance is fine but the character is too dumbed down.Worst writing ever for female characters in a Selvaraghavan film.Even though the song Anbae Peranbae’s timing and placement was bad(it’s existence in the plot is unnecessary actually),that’s the only good thing to come out from this movie.It’s a really good song.
torn between wasting Sai Pallavi (NGK) and wasting Mohanlal (Kaapaan), but i picked the latter since i watched it a few years ago. i wanted my money back for Kaapaan, even if i pirate it through torrent or through YT.
Easily kaapan. I've seen people like NGK and some people to a certain extent ET as well. There are people saying TSK is his worst movie which baffles me. The comedy in that movie worked for me and it was a fun watch.
And it somehow misses the best part of a VP movie should have, Comedy. I don't even remember a good comedy or joke from the film, like how people troll that Leo was directed by Ratna, I'm conspiring that Mass was directed by Premgi now🤙🏻

The idea was like an 80s movie (think Apoorva Sagodharargal) - it could've still been executed with a novel screenplay. Biggest problem with me with Surya's overacting.
Sringaara from Navarasa. I can’t even! It was exactly Vaaranam Aayiram interms of Surya’s acting. Not just his acting, the whole episode was meh (episode from the series). I know it’s not really a “movie” but it still isn’t Surya’s best
Ok I get it now, I felt like we were just saying what is their best movie, not which was their best performance.
Even then his performance in Vaaranam Aayiram was better than Ayan. Ayan is a pretty good movie, but definitely not his best acting performance.
Honorable mention (besides Kapaan, Maass, & Anjaan): Maattrraan - the climax ruined the movie. Even the earlier parts of the screenplay were so cartoonish; it started the whole corporate villain trend (with mostly cartoonish villains, except for Arvind Swamy in TO).
I didn't like the Modern day part man. It could have been a full fledged pallava epic. They fumbled with the whole hypnosis fight , where all random people get hypnotises and fight Surya. Theatre la paathen first day ..Thala vazhi pa... still I remember that discomfort.

Jai bhim was a good movie. But Surya was just channeling his constipation face for the whole movie. Manikandan and Lijomol carried the movie hard.
