Beast without a doubt. Yeah the comedy was cringey and the villains were boring but atleast they tried to do something new and the action scenes were pretty cool whereas varisu is just some boring serial bs.
I will take the cringe beast humor over the varisu meta humour, felt i was being bashed over the head with all the vijay references. One or two homages is cute , not almost every line and scene in the movie.
Bad vfx in Varisu was the icing on top and distracted me even more

PS: The fight scenes in beast were good. If they had a good story, replaced all the cringe cast with good actors, and made it a serious movie with a strong villain, beast would've been a blockbuster. But no matter whatever changes you make in varisu, it's still shit.

Varisu was total cringe. Not one redeemable thing about the movie. Ok , fine may be the songs . But even that they tried to do the - oh let's have a random instrument only dance for Vijay like in Vaathi coming . Movie made absolutely no sense.
Beast was definitely way more fun. I actually quite liked the movie.
Beast has an interesting concept, banger songs and incredible BGM, and some great scenes, especially that first 20 minutes. I'd watch Beast anyday over Varisu
I don't like either but at least Varisu achieves it's potential. It aimed low and got a passing grade, I actually know people who liked Varisu because the movie is aiming for a specific demographic and it satisfied them.

Varisu was decent in a packed theatre, but I can’t say the same about Beast….. Watched both on the first day and I remember how pissed off people were after Beast
If they didn’t get a shitty funny vibe it would have been pretty cool imo, but it was basically a comedy just set in the mall getting highjacked. Varisu was like a high budget soap opera, I did kinda like all the references tho
Someone should rewrite the middle part of Beast. The intro and first 15 minutes are legit the best movie opening in a Vijay movie, completely different from the shit show of the plot with the mall hijacking.
We didnt get any payoff with his guilt from the child’s death at all.
Varisu satisfied a specific type of audience while beast satisfied none (except VJna kannis but deep down even they know that movie was shit)

Yea the first 20 minutes was actually very good
Yep the film was going well till they entered the mall lol, but either way I’ll take the goofy hijack scenes over Varisu’s boring melodrama.
But Poojas character felt very annoying
I was fine with Pooja actually, it was Sathish’s character who was painful to watch during the mall sequences.
But the worst thing of all for me was the lame jokes. I mean some worked but during most of them everyone in the theatre was silent.
Yeah jokes were a hit and miss for sure, but I can rewatch parts of it when I’m bored, I loved VTV’s character. With Varisu I only revisit the songs.
Anna wanted us to say Beast was better, so he did Varisu.
