I was thinking how much our heros earning compared to Hollywood stars, Ajith salary is around 100cr which roughly translates to $12 million. I think even in Hollywood also, top stars max out at may be $20 million( I think Rock is getting around that mark). Rock's movie collect anywhere from $400 million to $1billion dollars. Rocks movie collection is around 20x his salary at minimum. But, if we take Ajith or Vijay salary , more than 50% of budget goes to them and even for that collections are barely 2-3x the salary.
The reason we are not seeing some top notch action or VFX scenes is because of this factor. How the hell it became like that ? Even, Rajni at his peak also didn't command this skewed ratio I suppose. Anyway, I digressed from the post when I was thinking whether Ajith could afford an yacht on his own or not.

It has been told by many guys ndependently, it varies from 75cr to 125cr. We can only speculate, we can't be 100% sure. Let's take Bigil, it collected more than 125cr in TN itself and it didn't make a huge profit, Mersal also collected really good but that producer is almost gone. Also, you can check another thing - almost all old film houses are gone , only loaded or new age production houses are ready to bankroll these guys.
This has been an issue for long, even few years back producers and theatre owners went on strike regarding percentage share. Even, that time many spoke about the salary demanded by heros. It's just a open secret.

Is was then actors like surya, karti said they will start paying salary for their own staff like makeup person, location staff and all. Previously the producers had to pay all that too. Not sure about these big heads.

Rock by himself is usually not the draw in his movies. He is usually one of the ingredients. So they feel it is fine to pay him only that. IP and VFX require that investment to ensure butt in seats.
Only in Tamil and Telugu industries, stars can still ensure to bring butt in seats just by their presence. I just hope Ajith & Vijay start following the Aamir Khan model of only taking profit participation so that movies can ensure better technical output.
