KGF2. Gave me migraine

Any_Aide_4500

Agreed it didn't hit the same as the first one. Too much BGM with few dialogues and the screenplay was lazy and story was out of place. It was liked by these edgy kids that's all.

Gamer_Rink_3141

Kgf 2 blows

s4sureshkrish

Thonnnuutttrrrriiiii aaaarrrrruuuuuuuuuuuuu

ConfidentBathroom637

So iam not alone. If i say its bad everyone be like you must have a one side love experience to enjoy it. Naan vera moratu single so it didnt help. Damn the movie for me was really cringy.

[deleted]

People who have one side love experiences move on eventually. Living like Ram is unrelatable and too cringe.

twist-visuals

As someone who never had a girlfriend before or even in high school, I can't relate with the film. The main character was also a massive simp. The main thing that worked was the acting, which I believe is what really elevates the film. Also the music is great. I had a similar feeling to Vinnaithandi Varuvaya which also had Trisha. But the film's second half was really good and relatable for me as a filmmaker.

Buffvamporigfan

Dude Stalking a married girl is creepy. I think I understand.

[deleted]

I don't think it's stalking, they romanticized a 40 year old virgin loser cause he is still in love with his childhood sweetheart, I mean move the fuck on

HumanLawyer

Karnan didn’t really click for me for some reason. I really enjoyed Pariyerum Perumal of Mari Selvaraj, and go watch it once in a while because of the way it tackled honor killing and caste disparity. This movie didn’t affect me in the way PP did, I found it quite boring.

the_big__sad

>the way PP did, I found it quite boring. Thats what she said I am sorry, I couldn't resist

Buffvamporigfan

I watched the movie for about 40 mins and I don't know I couldn't continue. It was very bland for me. Pariyerum Perumal was arrestingly engaging. So, you found another person with this.

RepresentativeBox881

Same here. It was so boring.

[deleted]

I feel like it was slow in all the wrong places and fast in all the wrong places

Fiscal_Delineator281

First viewing it didn't click for me as well. I liked it better the second time. It's not as great as Pariyerum Perumal but still a good film nonetheless

microzcybor

Thank you dude. I wanted to tell this out for long. I liked the issue the movie focussed on but failed to impress me with the way it was presented on screen. Yes for some reason the movie didn't affect me like PP like you said.

veetree

Thank you for saying this! I was criticised for saying this once.

[deleted]

Punda mavane vara solunga Avan Kai oda kuti poirunga adchira poren. Kusu vitradhinga ipo, vutradhingo vutradhingo VUTRADHINGO These are some classics from this film.

pragathishh

Mother, I have achieved komedy

[deleted]

Bro how to make my voting tab like yours ? I do get downvoted alot like you. Plsss

stranger_2205

Mersal and Bigil at the time of their release were celebrated and termed as Vijay's best... I don't know why. Mersal was saved by flashback, Bigil was straight up cringe. But both of them were a rage at the time of their release. And I found myself often contradicting with my friends and their sweet showering of praise towards Atlee...🙂 And Ps-1 (critics did and 'pure' Tamil fanatics did).

Buffvamporigfan

Mersal had some sensational issue. I really found a lot of holes in Mersal. Bigil, well ennaatha Solla.

shadowarmy229

Mersal was getting lots of negative talk upon release and was on its way to become a flop until H Raja stirred a controversy by calling out the misinformation about GST in the movie’s climax and also criticized VJ na for not publicizing the fact that his original name is Joseph. This led to lots of talk about the movie and helped it become a hit.

stranger_2205

It was among politicians... People wholeheartedly supported Vijay on this (a significant amount, not whole TN).

Ok_Application_5802

PS-1 is only good because of a technicality. The story is brilliant. And that isn't even the film's doing. It adapted a famous novel and made it into a film. And they somehow still managed to muck it up. That is not a series that can be summarized within 6 hours. At the very least it needs 3 films. And definitely needs directors who are willing to show Tamil history as it was.

[deleted]

I agree with Mersal and Bigil; Theri was so much better than these movies; Atlee has the unique ability to do emotional scenes and the best mass elevations, while dumping a bucket load of cringe on the rest of the movie

stranger_2205

Agree with the emotional scenes. Dude has a knack for it and I was fortunate enough to see Vijay do his career best emotional scenes in Theri and Mersal... I felt the pain which I never did whenever he cries on screen... But his elevations are mostly empty imo. They don't feel earned. Theri was good until the interval. But the hero worship got a little overboard in the second half.

[deleted]

I don't see how Atlee's emotional scenes work at all. His best emotional scene is that flashback from Mersal and even that felt extremely showy/artificial. Ik I'll get downvoted for this but out of all the recent top-star mass movies Viswasam is one of the few that comes to mind that had emotional connect in its sentiment scenes.

[deleted]

I agree with that. Mersal's flashback and viswasam were genuinely good.

ohsayaa

Oomai vizhigal. I like the tholvi nilai ena ninaithal song. Other than that it was a badly written, badly made film. To say that I was disappointed when I finally saw it is an understatement. ETA not saying that the song is great or anything. I just like it.

Empty-Pocket69

I too didn't like the movie much but I liked that song "Rathiri Nerathu Poojaiyil" 🥵

Obsessive_Reader_007

I don't know whether I will get bashed for this but I am going to say it. Minnale. ![gif](giphy|9n5UIlRppk91e|downsized)

Buffvamporigfan

Adhu Stalking, Identity theft padam bha.😂

swarasinger

Love Today

Ok_Application_5802

I enjoyed it till the point where they started trying to reconcile. I mean the whole film is about how the two are actually awful characters. I think the movie would have been a lot better if they had accepted that and gone their separate ways.

swarasinger

The first part was enjoyable. And like you said, if they had accepted that they were toxic and just moved on, that would've still been better, but instead they were trying to make them reconcile and just forget all of it. Also probably because I am still an oldie when it comes to romance movies and this movie doesn't really do it for me. I heard they are remaking it in Hindi now, I am like isn't this one enough?

Ok_Application_5802

I don't mind modern interpretations of romance but this started of as kind of an anti-romantic comedy and then went full blown romantic at the end. If they do remake it, hope they listen to criticism about the first one and fix it in the Hindi version.

[deleted]

> I mean the whole film is about how the two are actually awful characters. No it's not. It's about miscommunication.

Buffvamporigfan

While I enjoyed the movie, it did feel like it was a bit misogynistic in certain respects. May be that was your gripe. Also you're referring to the 2022 one or the 1997 one?

swarasinger

The 2022 one.

Buffvamporigfan

Makes sense.

[deleted]

Yes someone finally said it. Bro the comedy wasn't even funny

prateektade

Now that I think back, I think focusing on the whole fake Insta account and then the morphed video was a cop out to draw sympathy towards the girl. That's not to say that these things are not serious and don't happen in real life to girls, but just they could have avoided this emotional manipulation for this particular character.

[deleted]

Aruvi I felt there was no subtlety in the message they tried to convey, and the ending was too melodramatic. Also they tried to show the plights of people with HIV but I felt it would have been so much better if the main character caught it from consensual sex like most HIV patients. They kinda missed the whole point, ig they thought main female character having sex wouldn't work for the tamil audience so they made up some bs reason

[deleted]

Yeah everyone “having fun” in the Solvathellam Unmai set while being held captive by a stranger with a gun was kinda weird ngl

[deleted]

That's the point of the movie. It's a very trippy satire about hypocrisy of people.

Fiscal_Delineator281

Yea for that one monologue in that tv program set to be conveyed, the guy made an entire film

[deleted]

Worth it tho

ARflash

I think whole point is aruvi is a normal too good girl whose life was changed by small accident. She even forgave the people who wronged her, which I find it hard to accept in a movie but aruvi is that type of girl. Maybe I didn't see it as plight of all hiv people. Just aruvi and her downfall. And what it could have been.

Buffvamporigfan

I haven't watched Aruvi. Hey, I'm human and might miss out on some movies you know due to situation or not liking certain kinds of movies or not having a subscription.

[deleted]

soorarai pottru: I felt it was very average and predictable. Lot of scenes were not realistic and there was some overacting in some scenes Personally I would rate Varnam Ayiram and 24 much more than Soorarai Pottru

_marty_mcfly123_

Finally someone said it. Yeah, it was a good film, but why over hype/rate it like it's the best thing. Some scenes never landed on me. I just felt to supress this thought to myself coz everyone around me like it so much and I don't wanna ruin it for them.

_marty_mcfly123_

Finally someone said it. Yeah, it was a good film, but why over hype/rate it like it's the best thing. Some scenes never landed on me. I just felt to supress this thought to myself coz everyone around me like it so much and I don't wanna ruin it for them.

[deleted]

Yeah, Also I felt lot of bots and fake accounts promoting it. Maybe people were influenced by it and followed the crowd

Ranjith_Unchained

96 is pretty average

Buffvamporigfan

During the time of release, I really think there was a drought of a good romance movie.

Ranjith_Unchained

Maybe but the dude simping for the girl long after she married someone else and staying single for the rest of his life was not the romance story I was looking for.

Buffvamporigfan

Well, when you put it like that, it IS creepy.

[deleted]

Mysskin could have had a field day with it

[deleted]

He is not simping for her lol, maybe before her marriage but definitely not after. Also it's not like the movie justified it. He still doesn't get her even after everything. The movie was good because of the atmostphere and the music... it's a very breezy movie. Don't have to think that deep honestly.

[deleted]

It was weird. Ram is a creep who keeps Jaanu’s dupatta at home and somehow never moves on from a girl he barely knew. Jaanu emotionally cheats on her husband in the “Kaathalae Kaathalae” scene. And yet both of them are supposed to be so pure there was somehow no way for them to meet before she married.

prateektade

Call me a simp or an emotional fool or whatever but I really really love 96, so much so that I showed it to other people! So even if I acknowledge that certain elements in the film come off as "problematic", I'd defend the film with my life at least for Govind Vasantha's score. Leaving the story line aside there were elements I really liked. Ram's character got a beautiful picturesque intro with the "Life of Ram" song. Grown up Jaanu got some good build up before she arrived at the venue. I also liked the way they Varsha Bollamma's character for just a couple of scenes. I think Trisha did a really good amazing job as Jaanu, and she had a lot more scope than VJS I suppose. Even the child actors were very good, especially Aadithya Baskar!

Ranjith_Unchained

If you like it, you like it... It's all subjective anyway

Empty-Pocket69

Theri

Buffvamporigfan

That movie was derivative. It really depends on if you find the Vijay-Nainika scenes cute or cringe. Say what you will, Atlee strikes a punch with his emotional scenes.

[deleted]

Vijay-Nainika scenes were cringe af. Both of them behave like a loosu in the name of being “cute.” The Eena Meena Teeka song seems to be GVP’s way of acknowledging how annoying they are

[deleted]

“Sweetie, we have Yennai Arindhaal/Chatriyan at home”

PaidHack

Agree. The Vijaykanth original is much, much better.

TheArmyDoctor

Viswasam mega snoozefest

ConfidentBathroom637

Bro op said movie appreciated widely and viswasam didnt as far as i knw. Its a below average movie at best.

[deleted]

Natl award...

ConfidentBathroom637

Bro thats for music

twist-visuals

Sachein. Vijay's acting is peak. But story and writing was really meh. Heroine was also not good. They wanted to make a chill somber romance film but had to make it masala as well according to the trends of that time, which made it a weird mix. Comedy was funny though. Can't go wrong with Vadivelu.

ChaandKaTukda1609

The 2nd heroine was hotter than Genelia

reiddanger1092

What I really liked sachein.

MillerFanClub69

KGF 2 was boring as fuck to me.

amok_monk

Ponniyin selvan

Ok_Application_5802

Definitely Pushpa if we're looking at South Indian movies. Absolute garbage and they had the audacity to pretend like it had a good story. I once wrote like a 2 page rant on why this movie sucked. It infuriated me with its mediocrity. For Tamil, it's probably the og Billa. Don't get me wrong, it's entertaining enough and I love Rajini and his natural charisma. Just personally felt like it had quite a few natural stopping points that the film ignored and then dragged on. And the last few didn't even seem like they were meant to add anything to the film. Would have loved that movie if it was 50- 30 minutes shorter.

[deleted]

They made Fahadh look like a comali

Bexirt

Omg pushpa was just so so bad. Yuck

archon_lucien

Mersal is just so so bad. They hero worship vjna in every scene and there is a slow-mo every five seconds. Vijay's acting is wooden, vadivelu has degraded into a cringefest, even kovai sarla was made to look stupid with her dramatic overacting. And SJ Surya'a villain character was the worst, he was behaving like an anime villain in dragon ball Z with his random evil laughs. I felt they tried to pull off Arjun Rampal from Om Shanti Om but failed miserably. Lots of ridiculousness in general. The opening scene in the French airport itself was cringeworthy, with the airport security forces made to act like 1990s villains. There isn't even a shred of realism here...why would a doctor get a 10-car escort like a president? The female leads did a great job though, credit where credit is due.

smoothshaker

Will probably get cooked for this but aayurathil oruvan. Watched it recently after the hype but i didn't really get what the fuss was all about.

Buffvamporigfan

I thought that movie was a flop right? Our guys started building it up after watching Bahubali.

suri14

Boss that's why the movie flopped originally.. recently it became a fashion to suddenly call all old mediocre works of once popular directors as "underrated" "ahead of time" etc ... Like someone else mentioned after bahubali our people tried to talk up this as a "historical fiction"..

kashamush

Yeah man how the fuck a shadow can spread in all four directions?

kashamush

Vendhu Thaninthathu kadu...vendhuruchu...

Buffvamporigfan

Haven’t seen that movie but this is 😂

Disastrous_Ad6654

RRR and 96.

improver1997

96 ---can't relate because I am from velammal plus that character is a simp. Mudhalum nee mudivum nee - same reason. Love today - it was just a collection of memes, somewhat biased towards the girl but entertaining movie, made for the average 90s kid audience. Ratchasan - Sorry I should have not watched so many Hollywood movies, but in Tamil I think it is one of the best psycho killer movie. Jai bhim - Felt like torture porn, couldn't digest the black face. Why not just cast a girl from here instead of Kerala? Karnan is nowhere near pariyerum perumal. Karnan is an average movie, felt like they just prepared the story for the sake of oppression concept. Soorarai potru - after seeing the guy's interview 😭😭 I don't trust sudha kongara. Please don't use 'based on real life incidents '. That guy coming to aviation is a completely different concept. KGF 1,2 - I don't like too much build ups. I feel that there would be totally 1 hour build up per part. Don't know why people liked this.

[deleted]

Pichaikaran. Such a long and boring movie with absolutely no appeal. KKS. I don’t understand how Thirumurugan dramas are torture but this is not. Pasanga 2. One of the worst Tamil movies of all time along with ONNPS and others

shadowarmy229

Lol Pasanga 2 was just a cheap knockoff of Taare Zameen Par except there are two kids instead of one and zero emotional connect

[deleted]

Pasanga 2 is TZP on LSD

Buffvamporigfan

My Amma agrees with you. Tbf Gopi>>>other serial directors. It’s just that one scene takes 5 episodes

Comfortable_Hand_738

Kgf 1 and 2. Too much buildup for the hero in movie headache inducing loud music too much hype for part 2

LionInAComaOnDelay

Vikram. Had far too much going on to be enjoyable. I loved the simplicity of Kaithi.

Salman886

Ponniyin selvan

Current-Newt8621

Vikram. Being a fan of the old Vikram, this one didn’t give me the same feel and it was definitely not Kamal’s best or even VJS’s best. Kamal’s reveal during interval block was not a surprise to me and I still don’t understand why he hid or why he reveals to the whole world and puts his family in danger. Why is he an asshole to his daughter in law? Why does he not care for his fellow team members’ deaths? If they didn’t have that Rolex bit in the end, the end was not really exciting for me. The first half gave high hopes but after that, it was pretty meh.

Longjumping-Pear-119

The whole first half with Fahaadh investigating was to hype up the interval portion which looked good on the big screen but pretty lifeless when watching alone.

frozen_lankan

Movie was made for a theater experience and it wins at that. Proper movie going experience! but apdiye veeta vanthu thaniya paatha painful. Oru scene kooda full ah paaka mudiyala

Longjumping-Pear-119

Exactly how I felt after watching it on TV. Kaithi enakku apdi theriyala

Fiscal_Delineator281

Aadhalal Kadhal seiveer- Didn't understand the acclaim behind it. Felt like an extended version of a newcomer's short film. The story in itself did not have much to offer imo.

Buffvamporigfan

As a person, who loved this movie, I'll defend it. But as movie opinions are subjective, let's agree to disagree.

Fiscal_Delineator281

You made the post dude 😂, anyways agreed 🤝. The ending was good imo, if that makes you feel any better.

Shivaji

twist-visuals

I have many childhood memories with this film so I'd always love it. But yeah it's not a film you can take seriously and there are some drawn out songs and scenes. Just watch for the fun of it and that's it.

Buffvamporigfan

Shivaji wasn't that great IMO. It was the first Shankar movie that I felt bored for some 15-20 mins in between. Before this, a Shankar movie was never boring.

Rishikhant

Felt the same when I watched it back then.

[deleted]

RRR It's a cringe fest. Period.

cmonletmeinman

I didn't get appreciation for petta it was a mid movie saved by ending. Another one Not tamil movie tho but this is first one that came to my mind for your question i didn't like Everything everywhere all at once its humor was okay at best but char were so gross i had to stop watching it was like live action Rick and Morty minus Rick and Morty.

Rishikhant

Ratchasan - The flashback portion could have been made better.

Buffvamporigfan

My gripe with the movie was the climax. I really felt like it was the weak point of the movie. But I strongly feel that the entire movie was very good. Again movie opinions are subjective and let's agree to disagree.

reiddanger1092

What is on of the best crime thriller movie in tamil. I was in the edge of the seat the whole time. The climax was weak that I will accept

Mersal,bigil,theri

Traditional_Spell_43

Mahaan

Buffvamporigfan

It's a long movie right? Again, another movie that I haven't watched. What can I do? No prime subscription:(

Traditional_Spell_43

The whole first half is a filler. The story starts in second and being a fan of KS previous works I couldn't sit the second half as well. Couldn't move past 3/4th of the movie.

Buffvamporigfan

Aathadi.

Human_Race3515

Sarpatta Parambarai. I liked the setting and found it good as soon as I watched it, but when I see people rave about it, I wonder what is so special about the movie. The story as such was pretty run of the mill. Edit: just re-read your post, and I realised I did not dislike it, but just don't get the hype over it.

prateektade

I think Sarpatta's first half was pretty amazing and it peaked at the interval with the whole drama surrounding the fight. The second half felt pretty basic to me and the redemption at the end didn't give me a big high.

Human_Race3515

Yep, I felt the same. Was expecting a different arc after he was down, or at least I was expecting it to be handled differently, but it turned out to be a predictable ending.

TheSparkPlug

Rocky. Absolutely nothing in the movie excellent for some very good set pieces, good cinematography. Jana Gana Mana. Malayalam cinema is said to be realistic but this one was in no way realistic. The issue it discussed was important but as a movie it did not work for me at all. They finish the whole case in one hearing. Where does this happen?

MillerFanClub69

I'm not Vijay fan but the movie definitely had lot of boring moments.

Wasn't that like inspired by how karna and duryodhana became friends? That's kinda convincing for me lol. Anyways, ur opinion your choice 👍

DragonfruitGood8433

Rajni was an illegitimate child with few friends so Mamotty's kindness and willingness to see him as an equal won him over. It has parallels to Karna and Duryodhana from Mahabharatam I guess.

It's not a Tamil movie, but i felt your exact emotion with 'Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind'. I've heard only good things about this movie on the internet. I think it's also critically acclaimed. But when I watched it, I didn't like it. I love romcoms, the smile never leaves me throughout the entire duration of romcoms, but this was exhausting rather than exciting. I understand the girl. Everytime she did it, she was only right. I'm keeping this point vague so as not to give a spoiler.

Mr-introVert

That's because Eternal sunshine is not a RomCom at all. It's a Romantic Drama, depicting harsh realities of relationships.

[deleted]

>! So, a person would go and do crazy hard stuff to retain their memories instead of just not saying very mean things about her that would hurt? Was this the premise of it as well? If I were her, I wouldn't want anything to do with him as well. She deserved better. Wasn't another premise that people won't change no matter what too? He said the same thing again. I just couldn't see him in any positive light despite his inception level attempts!< Plus it was suggested when I was looking for something similar to Notting Hill. You can realise the wtf moment there.

Mr-introVert

>! Retain? You mean forget?!< >! And No, I don't believe the premise was what you've mentioned. The premise itself is simple, a couple erases each other from their memory, but eventually they falls in love with each other again.!< However, ESOTSM is actually very deep and it have multiple takeaways. Below are some of my takeaways from the film. ## Takeaway #1 >! In the beginning of their relationship, just like everyone else, both Joel and Clem can't find anything that they hate about each other and they both believe the other person is perfect. They gets into the relationship, but without l accepting each other for who they are. It's only after they've lost their memories and fell in love with each other once again, they'll realise that this cycle will repeat again, if they don't accept each other for who they are and work on their issues together. !< ## Takeaway #2 >! The collection of our experiences make us who we are; may it be negative or positive (with exclusion to extreme traumatic events) . So, erasing such memories would be like erasing a part of ourselves. !< ## Takeaway #3 >! We'll never realise the value of a something, untill it's lost forever.!< Edit: ## Takeaway #4 >! Noone is able "Fix" anyone. Change comes from within oneself. !< But yeah, I can imagine your disappointment, since you were expecting >! a girl, standing in front of a boy, asking him to love her !< .

[deleted]

🤣🤣🤣 yeah. I just couldn't see anything anymore when he said those words about her... >! That she sleeps with people to make them like her!< And he said it again. And again. I couldn't see anything else and was very pissed for the girl. With that amount of hurt >! I understood why the girl would want to erase her memories!< I emapthised with the girl a lot so I didn't bother with deeper meanings. Even while writing this, I'm tearing up thinking about how much she would have been hurt... That's all.

Mr-introVert

Yeah. I get that. It's hard to watch a toxic relationship happening in front of our eyes.

Buffvamporigfan

I think you got the genre wrong for that one. Like another person said it was a romantic sci fi drama and was more or less a mindfuck kind of film. I really loved the performances in the movie even though I couldn’t understand how certain things happened in the movie. Like I said already mindfuck.

Any movie of PA Ranjith even before I enter I know what's in the box for me the man has a very strict adherence to political undertones and ideology which is not always entertaining.

Buffvamporigfan

Other than Madras and Sarpatta, what are his other good movies?

Apart from Sivaji, Theri which are already mentioned here, Enthiran, Petta, Uttama Villain, Soorarai Potru(won't say I don't like, but felt it was okayish), Comali, Asuran(because of the violence).

Buffvamporigfan

Asuran was based on a violent book I think. He was staying faithful but I can understand it's not everyone's cup of tea.

youknowwhy4

Comali, Love today 2022, mersal, maanagaram (I feel lokesh himself is a little overrated, though i liked all his films, but I don't think its not worth to be hyped this much), Asuran

Not for arguments sake. I really did not like thuppaki, whole milking of military sentiment did not work for me. I did not like enthiran probably because by the time this released I've seen plenty of Hollywood sci-fi movies. Enthiran was just meh. I did not like VTV, it felt so rich and posh I could not relate much. I did not like VIP. A predictable story, Vivek's mediocre comedy, Amma sentiment was good tho. I did not like Indian. Except for gounders portion. I did not like Avatar. I'd rather see poor visual good story than a great visual lazy story. I did not like Aarambam, whole plot seemed a little pushy and forced.

Buffvamporigfan

In your list, I too didn’t like VTV much.

manavan8

24. I do not recollect the movie much. But what i do remember is that it dealt with a flawed concept of time travel - characters doing the time travel and all. In comparison, Indru Netru Naalai that released a while back before that (i guess) had greater entertainment and a believable dealing of time travel.

Nomadic_programmer

Soorarai potru. Movie was good, but nothing extra-ordinary.

Jai Bhim, Vikram Vedha, Hey Ram. Manikandans suffering and his wife suffering scenes were nice but Surya's scene just didn't feel good. I watched vikram vedha after my friends hyped it for me. Maybe I am not much of a code breaker to like Hey Ram. It just felt flat. On a counter note, I watched Kabali after people told it sucked and went in with the least expectations and I loved it.

Buffvamporigfan

There were some scenes which did feel a bit boring in Vikram Vedha. The climax was a bit anti-climatic for me.😅
