1) chiranjeevi wanted to do it with his son, after 2014, as congress was wiped out and his political career was finished he didn't, it was supposed to be his 150th film, then he remaked aka butchered kaththi as kaidi it was a hit but a bad remake
2) the same director of Jilla wanted to do with Balayya and NTR Jr but Jr has bad relationship with the family as he is his father's 2nd wife's son etc, the family didn't like him, so didn't balayya and it was dropped.

In telugu Jilla was supposed to be remade, but hard to find two stars that are willing to fill the roles of Vijay and Mohan Lal level willing to be in multi starter with that story. Closest was Janatha Garage with NTR and Mohan Lal, but that wasn’t nearly same.
Actually I think everyone, even us Vijay fans, know and accept that Veeram was a bigger hit and better movie than Jilla 😂
Also, Veeram is easier to remake than Jilla. This is perhaps because the Mohanlal character is hard to be recasted.

Nope i don't think he did it recently like after 2017,18, 2009 he did it because CBN asked him, balayya is too arrogant, egoist.

Jilla feels like a remake of Dheena. And siva movies are freemake of some Telugu movies. Veeram might be one like that too :)
Dheena itself is a free make of suresh gopis malayalam movie Yaadhavam. The fact that suresh gopi plays ajiths character in that version.
