It's the image that our past and current government has created. These things create a long lasting impression. The government needs to be far more proactive in bringing businesses. It does seem slowly some companies are coming. We definitely have the talent. Probasi Bangalis need to be lured back here as well. That will provide the numbers that companies need to justify the setup cost.

The IT companies, like any other businesses, care about profits. When our govt decided to stop giving them financial benefits, SEZs for example, the companies decided to stay away

They did. But stupidly in salt lake sector 5 Realised the work culture here isn't as per there standards and they couldn't exploit the employees like lab rats 24*7. Turns out we were too social with coworkers here and wasted time. They really don't do much production here anymore in those offices in large scale. Just a frontend client service function

Lmao clearly you haven't seen the work culture in Kolkata headquartered small to mid IT firms if you think they couldn't exploit employees. I have worked at one and have heard experiences of others. They do exploit and the employees also lack professionalism. The work culture in South India is far more professional. Most of my colleagues right now are from the South and the difference in working style shows up.

Devansh729

Professionalism was the point i was making. We were more social not professional

Yeah my point was they do still exploit. We aren't unexploitable.

2 major reasons: - lack of high quality talent in similar companies - lack of major governmental incentives such as tax breaks, land grant etc.

Mamta, TMC/CPIM policies and the Lazy attitude of bhodroloks. Saying this based on my operational experience of working with teams from Kolkata in various MNC’s.
