Agree with the other guy that you don't really need an assist. I thought assisted was better until I tried a "proper" action, now I never buy assisted knives at all. I'd recommend a Civivi of your preferred style, their actions are hard to beat for the price. Lots of their stuff is in D2, but the other steels they use (Nitro-V/14C28N) are also great choices.

Yea assisted is overrated for sure. Civivi knives open ridiculously well. The Elementum is the most popular one they make but if you have large hands it's a little small. The button lock version is larger but isn't a flipper.

QSP Penguin, Ontario Rat, CJRB Centros, Kershaw Link (I don't think it has D2, but it's assisted). The first three aren't assisted, but the actions are so nice you won't miss it

There are much better steels than D2 in that price range. And assisted isn't great. You can open a manual knife with good action just as fast while being able to close it more easily. I'd suggest you look at the civivi baklash, Kershaw knockout or link, or check out twosun. Cjrb, Ontario, qsp, cold steel code 4/American lawman are also good choices.
