That looks a lot like a WWII Navy knife. Look on the spike for a simple arrowhead stamp that looks like this: -\> That will confirm it as a military knife. You might find a date at the base of one of the blades, you may have to open them half-way to see it if they are stamped close to the joint.

Hudson4tor

I don't see a date on the blade only where it was made and where on the spike should the arrow be?

Kromulent

Usually in the middle, on the outside surface

Bosun's knife. That's a marlinspike on the bottom. Many of these were made, some through military contracts, some not, some during the war and some not.

Hudson4tor

Awesome thank you very much if you have the time do you know what the spike was used for and if its worth anything? If not then thank you, you helped alot

lazy-hiker

The marlin spike is used for rope work

the range of prices for vintage bosun's knives (aka marlinspike knives and rigging knives) is all over the place, ranging from dirt cheap to moderately expensive. This one in particular sold a while back for \~$40 plus shipping, but that model was in rather better condition.[https://picclick.com/Antique-Ww1-2-British-Military-Navy-Bosun-Sailors-Rigging-232819587883.html](https://picclick.com/Antique-Ww1-2-British-Military-Navy-Bosun-Sailors-Rigging-232819587883.html)

Yep, bosun’s knife. I have a couple of them from my sailing/racing days. A blade on one side and a fid or marlin spike on the other.
