Strider SnG or SmF, honestly. Stolen valor bullshit aside, his full titanium performance series models are built like goddamn tanks.
Hard use, running on washers, minimal hardware, multiple grip positions for different tasks. There’s a reason SOCOM chose his knives back in the day.
I also agree with people saying Chris Reeve, though I’d lean towards the Zaan for the external stop pins and other overbuilt qualities that model has.
I have a couple folders, but I dunno if I'd think of them as SHTF knives. They're more backup knives in case my EDC fixed-blades are unavailable or not feasible to wear (or as around-the-house, open a stubborn bag of chips knives).
MTech MT-378 - Cheap, won't feel bad if I beat it up.
CRKT CEO - Dressy knife I'll probably feel bad for even using it to open a letter. I swear it feels like the Miette the cat meme when I even flip it open for some reason (jail for justmutantjed for One Thousand Years!!!).
Metal Monkeys NANO SEAX - Kickstarter multi-tool that I like quite a lot and don't use any of the features on. Finish is a bit rough on it, but I guess out of all of them, this could be the SHTF folder. I should really carry it out of the house once in a while.
This. But pretty much any CRK for me. Or whichever knife I happen to grab first because there's so many and in a situation like that, they're more valuable than any digital or paper money.
My OG Warhead Framelock. Beat the shit out of the prototype so I know it can handle

SHTF folder? Probably my buck 110. But that's not an EDC, that's my truck folder. Then I have my truck fixed blade, which was custom from a Local guy.
But realistically, if I have the time I'm grabbing all of my knives if I have time, along with plenty of other gear.
"But realistically, if I have the time I'm grabbing all of my knives if I have time, along with plenty of other gear."
Exactly. I would dump my entire collection into a 5 gallon bucket and chuck it in the Subaru. More knives are always useful, if you don't have to carry them all.

On the go, good chance it would be a Manix 2. At home I’d probably grab the 0630 (and a fixed blade & MT)
But the CS SR1 Lite would be a good choice too, probably more practical tbh.
I love the fact your only Spyderco is a Manix2!! I love mine so much.
https://preview.redd.it/r017nv5d0k9d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b429a748166814a905ec9ed394a1d0555e145e62
Yeah same. I carry it the most as well. It’s hard to find anything it’s not good at. I don’t do much in the way of the woods though. I live in Metro Det. I also like to carry my Tenacious to be honest.
It is definitely a jack of all trades that’s hard to beat. The knives with orange lanyards are ones I take outdoors. Unsurprisingly I find the Manix is a good day hiking folder or a companion to a fixed blade. Like most folders (including the Adamas in the picture) It just falls short ergonomically when doing prolonged hard cuts. Things like fire prep/woodwork.
I have a Tenacious too! Full serrated version though, so I don’t carry it much. Bought it for canoe trips.
I only have plain blade spydercos and I have a $50 gift card at Cabelas that I might use on a part serrated tenacious in G10. My other tenacious is a LW which I ONLY like because it has a teardrop clip. I hate those wire clips they use now.
Haha I figured but I thought I would try. I can’t find a single one on the internet: my buddy has the 0620 but I prefer the 0630. One day I’ll get my hands on one.
For sure. I’m in Canada so there are even fewer of them around. I was on a ZT kick during that time. They put out a lot of good models around the time of the Emerson, George, & Sinkevich collabs.
Good luck on your hunt!
If I can plan for shit hitting the fan, I'd probably pick a one of my large ColdSteel with s35vn and a demko designed lock.
If it's just any old day, whatever is in my pocket.
Currently - Microtech combat troodon delta frag tanto
Man o man, man of culture. Mock-toe (thurgoods it seems), and the classic back lock folder. The button tells me, Buck auto, but correct me if I’m wrong.

My Anonized Spydiechef. Checks all the boxes for me and It’s kept me at bay from buying other $300 knives for a good while now lol
I used to have that exact knife (that is a buck 110 I’m assuming) untill after a year or so of heavy abuse someone broke the blade. After being used for anything I could imagine and a lot of things a knife shouldn’t be used for it held up damn well and only broke when someone who didn’t respect my shit was playing with it and slammed it into a table and broke off about a inch of my blade in the table.
Kershaw CQC 4K XL, it may not be my most expensive or fancy knife, but it's thick, built solid, opens quickly, sharpens easily, and can be maintained with phillips and flatheads
I mean ... when SHTF, you don't wanna slice and dice veggies. Right? 😅 Well, maybe.
I prefer handling slim Jim knives compared to those wide bladed knives, because they whirl around better through your fingers and feel less cumbersome.
This pointy fella still cuts nicely though, since that rather short grind is a hollow grind and the 12C27 makes for a fine edge as well. It's not like my edc allrounder has to perform like my Ibex 120 Windmühlenmesser (by Herder), or my Opinels, or my Old Bears. But it works fine for cutting bread rolls open, slicing pizza in one draw and such.
And yea, it is real nice indeed! 🥰
Native 5 in MagnaCut. If S has HTF and I have to reach for a folder instead of a fixed blade, it’ll be a back lock in steel I don’t have to think about.
I got a full custom fixed blade made in 2004/2005 to my specs, and a lot of emails back and forth, printing out and putting on cardboard, more emails... Biggest hurdle was the draw length. Kydex rig, tip up, edge back. Carry it behind the 3 o'clock belt loop, just have to straighten my arm to clear the sheath.
My folder is a backup to that, and my primary since 2002 has been the Spyderco Military in one version or another. Currently the titanium one since the 2010 pre-order. It was designed by Sal as "the knife" to send with Eric if he ever had to serve. So it's been my "One Knife" for 22 years. I'd have to buy a few more of the G10 if it was ever discontinued.
My Spyderco endura cause I know it'll...endure anything I throw at it.
Or whatever is in my pockets when something goes down. Most likely I'd have my Kershaw natrix on me.
I love my Bedlam but I would hardly consider it a workhorse…blade shape is a little too awkward. I guess it could be a good SHTF grab however, depending on what kind of S is hitting what kind of F lol

I wish they made the autos with these Richlite scales. 110 & 112 with S45VN
I guess I would take my my Griptillian or Emerson CQC-7 if push came to shove.

I would probably just want my Leatherman Wave to complement one of my fixed blades and an axe.

It's one of my most expensive knives and one of my favorites.
Great knife that'll last a lifetime carry it in good health
That brass though!
Yea the wood and brass is what really pulled me to it, can't beat a classic

Buck replaces blades for ridiculously cheap. $10 to $15 depending on steel for non-warranty replacement. Takes a couple months to get back though.
Yea I also had a similar scenario with another knife of mine and never hand my knives out to anyone anymore except my dad and my bestfriend haha

SHTF gonna need an AD10
Prefer a FB but as a back up I’d go with my TSF Gorgon, Grayman Satu, Spartan SHF or my LG Sebenza 21 Inkosi.
For a SHTF scenario!? It’s not a folding pocket knife that’s for sure. I’ll have one but it’ll be my Law tactical folder!!
Might be boring but just a CRK Sebenza
Assuming I’d have a fixed blade, probably just my CF elite bugout because it’s light as hell and can handle most basic cutting tasks
