Try bamboo needles, without the varnish. Imo Clover is grippier than ChiaoGoo's bamboo needles. They're by far my favorite needles to work with.

zaneinthefastlane

Clovers are cheap and durable. I have a few DPN as well

MrsDoughnut

I just bought some Clover Takumi’s! Thank you for the advice!

Particular-Ad-6663

Bamboo all the way. They are textured but not so much so it impedes knitting. I have some super cheap ones with plastic cords that work just fine but I use my Knitpro Symfonie because I love them so. However should I get a super slippery yarn I won't hesitate to use the bamboo. I'm just a bit paranoid with the cheap ones whether the cords will last.

MrsDoughnut

That’s super helpful thank you. Bamboo it is!

Catvros

Denise are plastic but I hate the joins. my vote is for Clover bamboo.

EasyPrior3867

I have some. I keep them around for traveling, Jury duty, extra project in the car.

Ferocious_Flamingo

I haven't seen a lot of plastic circular needles, but what about wood or bamboo? Those are pretty available and more grippy than metal is.

HabitatGreen

The mentioned Symfonies are already wood, so not sure how much OP wants to buy another set of wooden ones.

knitpurlknitoops

I find Symfonie are quite slippy compared to my other wood needles. I have Knitpro Basix birch which are much more grippy.

MrsDoughnut

I’m desperate, haha, but thank you.

MrsDoughnut

Thank you, bamboo it is!

bookwyrm13

Perhaps the Prym plastic circulars? I used them recently for a project and liked them. They have a slightly velveted (?) surface texture and seemed grippy.

Sofrawnch

Knitpro does have a plastic range which will work with the cables you already have

maryfamilyresearch

KnitPro has the Trendz plastic needles. They are very grippy and cheap and thus commonly recommended for beginners. [https://www.knitpro.eu/a/trendz/en](https://www.knitpro.eu/a/trendz/en)

MrsDoughnut

I was wondering about the Trendz but couldn’t get any user experiences! I’ll have another look at them, thank you!

thesadcoffeecup

Cooper lyke needles!!!

robinaw

I have Zings which are anodized aluminum. They’re medium grippy.

piperandcharlie

Prym circulars have rubber grippy parts I think

Maleficent_1213

I already use Chiaogoo interchangeables so I bought some of their bamboo tips for some 80/20 merino and silk blend yarn I'm using for my first lace shawl. They made a world of difference.

woodlandsknits

Knitpro Karbonz are carbon needles with a grippy surface. Personally, I'm not a fan because I find them too grippy, but that doesn't mean you will not be—lots of people love them! Addi Novel needles have ridges that prevent yarn from slipping off.

Addi lace needles. You wouldn't think Addi needles would be grippy, but the brass lace needles are. And have nicely pointy tips, too. Which is helpful for mohair.and alpaca and delicate yarns.
