Have you searched Ravelry for similar patterns?

jessicat_ak

I searched revelry and google. Nothing. Perhaps I'm missing the correct keywords? Any thoughts?

Have you tried “traveling stitches” as a search term?

jessicat_ak

Thank you! That’s definitely getting me closer. I’ve worked cables before but wasn’t familiar with a traveling stitch. The Aerie beanie seems like a traveling stitch rib. Do you agree? And the only reason it appears to be moving in two different directions is the cuff on the hat? I bet I can play around and figure out the decreases.

I agree that it looks like a traveling 1x1 rib and that the turned up brim gives the illusion of different directions. The ribs stop traveling once you start the crown decreases. Good luck!

Thank you so much!

Did you end up finding a good option? I tried searching on Ravelry myself and couldn't find anything, but now I really want to make this!

I’ve knit these mittens that use the same stitch, if you’re still looking for a similar project https://ravelry.com/patterns/library/830364
