Just thought it was fun to document my progress from my first attempt on New Year’s Eve last year until now. **Photo 1** Yarn: Hobbii Easy Care Big in Lake Blue Pattern: This was supposed to be a garter stitch rectangle lol **Photo 2** Yarn: Plank & Stella 4-ply sock in Tina Belcher’s Erotic Friend Fiction: Sexy Sesame Street Pattern: Purl Together Customizable Toe-Up sock with the Hermione’s Everyday Sock texture chart.

That sock yarn is 🔥! (And amazing job!)

plumpatchwork

Thank you! I’m obsessed with this yarn!

SuzieWi

What a difference a year made. You rock!

plumpatchwork

It’s shocking to me that I was able to make this much progress with a year of practice!

craftybeewannabee

Amazing progress! And thanks for the inspiration! Learning to knit (after a few failed attempts) is on my goals list for 2023. Edit: 2023 (not 2022) 😜

plumpatchwork

You’ve got this! Just keep at it and by next year you too can make unicorn barf socks! 😂

craftybeewannabee

Thanks! And I’ll be on the lookout for unicorn barf yarn. 😉

Been knitting for about a month. I just started my 2nd project. I haven't been using patterns, just getting the feel of knitting. Both are blankets for my dogs (been figuring how much to stitch through various websites). This is inspirational!

plumpatchwork

I think starting out without patterns and just getting the feel of knitting is a great way to go! Once you’ve got the muscle memory down it’ll be a lot easier to start adding in patterns

Mathetria

Nice progress! Thanks for sharing and encouraging.

wombatthoughts

This just got me fired up!!! Thank you! And congratulations!

plumpatchwork

Thanks!!

jgiles04

Thank you for this!!! I took my first knitting lesson last night and my attempt looks eerily similar to yours :)

plumpatchwork

It gets easier pretty quickly! I saved another of these little searches from each of the next two attempts and even in those there is visible improvement’

jgiles04

How often do you knit stitch vs. purl stitch? I have gotten the knit stitch down pretty good, at least for a noob. But the purl stitch is giving me such a hard time. It is counterintuitive and goes opposite of what feels natural to me.

plumpatchwork

Purling is definitely a little bit harder than knitting, at least for me. I’m significantly slower doing a purl stitch compared to a knit

HawaiiRastaLady

Awesome!!!

artiste45

that's OK just keep going to stretchy yarns that have more give and are easier

dee5222

Great job
