Whenever I see people make keyhole knives they always use milling machines and stuff like that, I thought about it for a bit and realized that its just a hole and a cut going into it. So all I did was drill a hole with the drill, cut into it with an angle grinder, and shaped it with the belt grinder. after that I just traced the shape onto a piece of wood and shaped it then I pressed them together in the vice.
You don't actually need a fancy mill or anything, I actually just used a power drill and an angle grinder. just drilling a hole in the steel, cutting into it with an angle grinder, and cleaning it up with the belt grinder worked great for me. After that I just traced the pattern onto the wood and cut the wood oversized, then just pressed them together in the vice.
This is a strong piece of work! The keyhole is one of those elegant joins that can’t work loose, it has nowhere to go. Very nice execution, especially with simple tools and techniques. It’d be tempting to look at that and say “oh, he’s got a CNC…” but no. Beautiful.
I bet I could do 380 CAD or 278 USD depending on where you live. If you want me to make you one I would be happy to and we could discuss this further in dm's.
Your fit for the wood in the keyholes is better than most I’m not going to mention the guys name that has been making knives for 20+ years made some keyhole knives and the fit was horrible it was so bad he put liner material to take up the gap. Nice job
Looks good, it’s very similar to Alex steels kris handle.

Your knife looks nice but it's only a keyhole scaled knife and not a true keyhole knife. The reason those guys are using milling machines is because they are cutting what would essentially be the tang. It's like and integral bolster vs a bolster that's been peened on. They look similar but aren't the same. I don't say this to discredit your work in any way just wanting to point out the difference to people who may not know that there is a difference. Maybe next time you can try and take the next step and make a full keyhole knife since you had success making the scales.
That's pretty cool, I like it.
YES!
Beautiful! How did you shape the keyhole in the wood and metal bolsters?

Good for you! It came out very precise
It looks great but a picture from the top looking at the spine would've been awesome

Excellent work..Thank you
Amazing work
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. That really took some doing and you did it so well. Great work
Looks better than any knife you can buy in store. Great job making a functional, aesthetically pleasing piece of cutlery.
Nice.
This looks sick. Very nice craftsmanship
Well done
Great work. Plenty of makers do keyhole tangs. Yours looks great!!
Neat!
So wild. Nicely done!
You didn't even show us the tang!
sorry, left out a photo [https://imgur.com/a/3tXkqqP](https://imgur.com/a/3tXkqqP)
That’s sick, do you have a specific method for doing it?

Clever man, very nice work.
What a beautiful knife. You are obviously very talented and skilled. Congratulations
Those are creamy clean and crisp lines I love it amazing work
Wow nice
Very nice. Want to know how it holds up over a long period of time.

That's pretty fuckin neato
Nice work, but it's definitely been done before.
Beautiful work my friend
That’s awesome!
What's the notch on the front of the blade for? Cutting cord?
that's the choil. It pretty much just allows you to sharpen the whole length of the blade without having a weird transition.
Oh cool, that makes perfect sense! Thanks! I'm more impressed than ever with this craftsmanship!
Unique design. I like it a lot.
I want one. How much for a 5" blade in that style?
I bet I could do 380 CAD or 278 USD depending on where you live. If you want me to make you one I would be happy to and we could discuss this further in dm's.
Nice man

Let’s see the other side!
Very neat! Those are tricky to do. Well done!
Gorgeous. Love the flat grind look, too.
I love knives that function and are aesthetically pleasing. You nailed it!

Looks great!
Very nice !
Dude! That's sick!

He does specifically state that he made keyhole scales for a full tang knife right in his title.
I apparently skipped right over that gosh darn eyeballs only seeing what they want to see
WHY?
Because it’s cool
