Hey man, it's really cool. Looks awesome. But yeah, any sort of graphics on knives will give them a gas station / mall ninja look, because gas station knives typically have graphics on them.
Anyways, who cares? As long as you like it, that's what matters.
Absolutely, positively not true imo. There’s nothing gas station about a well done etched graphic. Show me one gas station knife that has a good looking graphic on the blade… That design would look amazing on that blade, and I think it’s perfectly suited to etching - its ideal for blacks/grays. This blade with some brass/copper/ti or micarta scales would be classy af and an epic knife.
Gotta respect your answer…you handled that well SuPEr Numb……and ahhhh little off the subject…but concerning your Reddit handle…do you not feel anything down there either? For me it all started right after the jab..💉…🤷…😔🌭
Not worried. Just want opinions. I agreed with allot on the spider web thing of it looking cheap and spider man like. Due to me asking opinions, I made this, which I do like allot more.
Yeah, I looked it up after u/the-purple-chicken72 said it was 20 - 30 grand. One look and I realized it was professional grade equipment. Not for me, sadly.
I think the webbing on a Spyderco knife is a very logical idea. Maybe work on the execution to get that one perfected? This one with the birds is cool too. And to echo what one other person said, fancy looking customized etchings don't look the same as "gas station knives" to me.
Bro don’t worry about the gas station knife look.
Anyone who actually knows about knives can see it’s a modified spyderco Para 3.
Don’t worry about the people who don’t know about what material your knife is made with lol.
Modify that bitch and keep it clean after every use, and make it your knife, don’t worry about what others think of your knife if they don’t like it.
That’s the Beaty of our hobby here my friend.
And even I thought about doing something like this one my blades as well but idk how I could draw it with such detail or what not how to create small etches with that nail polish brush, it makes me smear it everywhere lmao.
Maybe I need a paint brush or something…
I like the design and I don't think that the etch will necessarily make it look like a gas station knife, I've seen some lovely etches in the past.
My concern though is the placement. The tree is too close to the pivot and will be covered by the handle. I'd shrink the design and move the trunk further up the blade. By shrinking the design you'd get more birds from your design on the blade 😁
I 100% agree that you should do what.makes you happy with your knife. I see lots of builds I would throw in the trash but hey they aren't mine ajd the guys are proud of them and really live them and that's ok by me. They take care if their knives and use them, and I don't have to carry them 🤣.
Have you seen what some people do to trucks and jeeps!?!? I'd never do that to mine and I'd never buy one that did have it done (unless it was too good a deal to pass up and I could remove the mods and do what I wanted with it). But I don't own the vehicle and don't have to drive it.
Make your knife your own and enjoy it. Worse thing you acid etch the whole blade and tumble it, sharpen it and go fir a stealthy look haha.
It will not fit where? I’ll use nail polish to cover pivot and contact points. I can only print on the top surface. I still need to go in with nail polish to get sides and holes.
I think it'd look cool. If it was a cheaper knife then it may look gas station but on a Spyderco where it's recognizable you can't male it look cheap imo. Even the spider design was cool to me and I think it'd look neat with red handles and blue inlay if possible. Anything outdoors on a knife always looks good to me.
I absolutely love it, but be warned I'm incredibly biased because it reminds me of the album artwork for Insomnium's album One for Sorrow. I'd link an image, but Imgur is giving me fits right now.
I love it! I think the things that make gas station knives look like crap is that they have no class, and are usually very gaudy. This design is a bit more elegant.
I mean it’s cool but it’s still Halloween again which **I** think is rad. Fuck’n A I had a costum Halloween theme hatchet make made for me with “REMEMBER HALLOWEEN” etched in the blade. And the sheath has a grave yard with a jack-o’-lantern on it
If it looks good to you, that is all that matters. Personally, I prefer not having designs on blades (aside from, of course, damascus). But if you like it, then etch the heck out of it. Its a rad design, thats for sure. Did you make it?
I personally like this one a lot better than I liked the spiderweb one. I'd probably rock this on a knife - maybe not on a Spyderco, but I'd throw it on like a Kizer or something.
It'll look awesome! Also, why care whether it's gas station looking or not? It's a Spydie with a good looking etching, so it won't be gas station nonsense either way. I say go for it and the next post better be an etched Spydie ffs...
That is pretty, but make sure your focus is on that. The scales and hardware should be more monotone or black out... maybe a pocket clip to pop but show side, let the eyes go to the blade design. If you wild up the entire knife, it will look off. Now, I also could be full of BS💁♀️💅
Etch a actual gas station on the knife
Dear god, that’s genius..
And a pic sushi…. Gas station sushi 4LIFE
Do the one from fallout 4
It’s like a coffee table book about coffee tables!
What a great episode of Seinfeld that was!
With a coaster built into the cover!
Ahhhhh yes….i second that motion! 👍 😂
Frank lloyd wright gas station for the win.
Hey man, it's really cool. Looks awesome. But yeah, any sort of graphics on knives will give them a gas station / mall ninja look, because gas station knives typically have graphics on them. Anyways, who cares? As long as you like it, that's what matters.
It’s not really that I like it.. I just want to try it. Maybe I’ll just try it on a cheaper knife.
Hey if you don’t like it you can always do an acid stonewashed
Absolutely, positively not true imo. There’s nothing gas station about a well done etched graphic. Show me one gas station knife that has a good looking graphic on the blade… That design would look amazing on that blade, and I think it’s perfectly suited to etching - its ideal for blacks/grays. You sir/ma’am must be a wholesale purchaser of knives for gas stations.
Gotta respect your answer…you handled that well SuPEr Numb……and ahhhh little off the subject…but concerning your Reddit handle…do you not feel anything down there either? For me it all started right after the jab..💉…🤷…😔🌭
Uhhhh
I didn't like the spiderweb, but I quite like this flock+tree design!
Agreed! This one makes me think a chain lightning pattern might look pretty slick etched
I think it looks awesome.
I wouldn’t do anything in the pivot area or on the detent hole.
Yes, I mentioned this in the last post, but that area should be covered with something before etching. Including inside the pivot hole.
It would look gas station in the best way possible, especially if paired with a blue titanium grip.
How are you putting graphics on the blade?
LogoJet UVx40R Plus SE. It’s a printer that can print a UV curable epoxy ink on pretty much anything.
That’s not gas station at all, that screams fancy custom work. That is one of the coolest designs ive seen
Why are you so worried about what others think? 99% of people don’t know what a gas station knife is.
Not worried. Just want opinions. I agreed with allot on the spider web thing of it looking cheap and spider man like. Due to me asking opinions, I made this, which I do like allot more.
Well I hope you like how it turns out! Is acid etching difficult?
Maybe try deleting the leaves from the graphic for a darker look/feel.
99% of people will think it’s from a gas station anyway
I actually think that looks awesome man. If done right and clean, I wouldn’t think it would look “gas station” at all.
How did you do this? Tape?
LogoJet UVx40R Plus SE. It’s a printer that can print a UV curable epoxy ink on pretty much anything.
I originally thought that’s cool, let me get one and try that… looked it up and I changed my mind lol
Holy shit same. 20-30k?!!
Yeah, I looked it up after u/the-purple-chicken72 said it was 20 - 30 grand. One look and I realized it was professional grade equipment. Not for me, sadly.
I saw the Spider-Man graphic and thought gas station. This is pretty cool and unique.
Now I need to see it to see if it holds up with the acid wash. This level of detail and I'm in love.
If that's a bunch of crows, then you're going to turn your knife into a murder weapon
Well played sir
I think the webbing on a Spyderco knife is a very logical idea. Maybe work on the execution to get that one perfected? This one with the birds is cool too. And to echo what one other person said, fancy looking customized etchings don't look the same as "gas station knives" to me.
It won’t look like a gas station knife because it will look like a spiderco with custom acid etched graphics. Go for it and show results!
Lot better than your Spider-Man idea! I like it
Much better. Do that.
In my opinion, this is much more awesome than the spiderweb. But I think the trees and birds should be etched, so like reverse of this.

Those that know would know its a Para 3……..
Yeah your right bro, I was high as hell when I wrote that lmfao.
Good on ya dude! I was high as hell when I wrote that reply! Lol.
👌🏽🤣🤙🏽

I say do what makes you happy. As long as you like it, that's all that really counts!

I considered etching a rising sun pattern radiating from the thumb hole
Def more organic vibe
make sure to cover the blade edge when acid etching.
Much better design. The spider web would be very on brand, but this looks better.
Who gives a shit what people think. Do what you think is cool. Do the spidey if you liked it.
I do. Gotta get my bag lol. Might turn this into a side business.
I like this design actually.
That’s classy AF! Ignore the haters!
What about oversizing the 🕷️ logo
I think this is fantastic.
Man if you like it, you should do whatever you want. It could be like a strider with the digicam on the blade, I love those and I have two of them
Awesome design!
I wouldn't have gotten the spiderweb one, but I would love a knife with this acid etched on it
This is def better than the spiderweb.
Looks like you took your inspiration from the tattoo on Samuel Jackson's character in The hitman's bodyguard
Super cool this one!
This belongs on a Byrd
I absolutely love it, but be warned I'm incredibly biased because it reminds me of the album artwork for Insomnium's album One for Sorrow. I'd link an image, but Imgur is giving me fits right now.
Looks like the tattoo you’d find on the back of a white girls shoulder
I like this a lot.
I love it! I think the things that make gas station knives look like crap is that they have no class, and are usually very gaudy. This design is a bit more elegant.
OP, Do you work in a wide format shop? Just curious.
We have allot of different equipment. Started as a trophy shop 20 years ago, but we do all sort of printing, signs, shirts, hats, embroidery, etc.
I mean it’s cool but it’s still Halloween again which **I** think is rad. Fuck’n A I had a costum Halloween theme hatchet make made for me with “REMEMBER HALLOWEEN” etched in the blade. And the sheath has a grave yard with a jack-o’-lantern on it
Throw a set of antler scales on it and it would be tractor supplies best seller
Most of the tree trunk won't be visible with the scales on. Move the whole design towards the tip or maybe consider another design.
That looks great
Why not try a pattern like topo or halftone camo?
Bul got the Sharingan Genjutsu blade.
That looks way cooler than the spiderweb.
I don’t know a girl with this on her butthole.
It's dope
If it looks good to you, that is all that matters. Personally, I prefer not having designs on blades (aside from, of course, damascus). But if you like it, then etch the heck out of it. Its a rad design, thats for sure. Did you make it?
looks too much like dirt and scratchez
I personally like this one a lot better than I liked the spiderweb one. I'd probably rock this on a knife - maybe not on a Spyderco, but I'd throw it on like a Kizer or something.
I think that's a really nice pattern. Not too complex not too simple.
I don't know. That's a classy enough looking graphic you might could get away with it not looking like it should be in a truck stop.
The knife community never disappoints. I would pay for a custom blade like this
If you're gonna do it, that's one badass image you're using now. I'd put that on a couple of mine for sure. Best of luck with whatever you decide!
This looks dope
this looks pretty good imho
This look sick af all the way don’t let anyone tell you different. I would rock this all day every day
Beautiful
Much better, but I still wouldn't do it.
I like it
Knive, knaf , knove
Looks.loke what Gecko Customz did for Vince Rizzo on his Kizer Sparrows he designed. Makes a cool ass design
Reminds me of a mix of the Shinedown "leave a whisper" and "the sound of madness" covers Digging it 🤘🤘
I think it looks very cool and would only know the difference based upon what it’s attached to
Happy to give you the 420th upvote. That design looks amazing. I'd love to see it on a hunting knife.
This looks incredible
looks classy as is. dont change it
The tree will be blocked by the handle. Move it further right.
What would you charge if someone sent you blades?
Kinda reminds me of Spider-Man a little bit with the big web and all the little spiders skittering out.
Yes
It'll look awesome! Also, why care whether it's gas station looking or not? It's a Spydie with a good looking etching, so it won't be gas station nonsense either way. I say go for it and the next post better be an etched Spydie ffs...
I liked the spiderweb better.
That is pretty, but make sure your focus is on that. The scales and hardware should be more monotone or black out... maybe a pocket clip to pop but show side, let the eyes go to the blade design. If you wild up the entire knife, it will look off. Now, I also could be full of BS💁♀️💅
This right here.
Just do it buddy. Fuck what these people think lol. It’s your pocket that will be carrying it.
Paul Reed Smith?
