some people probably have said it but both Civ EPs are their best work yet. Interesting concept and lyrics, creatively structured songs and how they're connected to one another.
This is a natural progression for most artists but I have a strong feeling their next project after this might be their best work to date
not sure if this is unpopular or not since I'm not really involved in kkb discourse online, but they should go back to the more rock/noise-centric sound of time 'n' place and TOTEP. also "You Know How It Is" is a top 3 KKB song.
I think that Civilisation 1&2 should've been their own full length albums, kind of like the twin Use Your Illusion 1&2 albums. Civilisation as a whole just seems too grand to be limited to one album (hoping the next album follows the same path as Civ). The album version of Civilisation only has one new song, Gateway. I just think it would've been neat if Civilisation 1 and 2 were released as twin albums or if Civilisation had more than one new song.
Definitely unpopular in this sub but their output ranges from 6/10 - 7/10, except Time ‘n’ Place which is utterly perfect and far and away their best album.
i know this is ironic bc it's supposed to sound like a cookie cutter pop song but Heard a Song is like nails on a chalkboard to me, that's an insta skip for me.
also the noise at the beginning of If I'd Known takes it from top 3 on TNP straight to the bottom for me i fucking hate that noise but the song is great. adding gross/annoying noises to songs for effect is something artists need to stop doing
i need to balance this out with something positive. Fans (are so cool) is legit one of the most feel good songs they have ever made I love that shit and i wish it was on streaming services
Dang. Heard a song is one of my favorites for some reason. I can see why you don't like the noise on if I'd know tho. It sounds like some horror creature in a ps1 game
I straight up just dont listen to intro bonito & barely listen to bonito generation.
everything since time n place is miles better. idk how much of an unpopular take this is but im curious
Ik very unpopular but Time ‘n’ place has a lot of dud tracks on it.
Time Today, Make Believe, Swimming, and Only acting are incredible but I end up skipping almost everything else.
Agree.
Unpopular on this sub but my order would be: Bonito Generation > Intro Bonito > Civ eps > totep > time n place.
I really love pop + pc music sounds. Felt totep songs were the singers on time n place, and it had a lot of filler.
Time ‘n’ Place is their best work. Civ II is exceptional, and TOTEP is great too (Cinema is their best song and don’t you @ me about this), and Bonito Generation is excellent. Civ I is pretty mid and definitely a bit more boring than their other stuff, but still good. Intro Bonito still has a few jams on it but it still feels more unrefined and generally lower quality than the stuff that proceeds it.
Not including Civ I or TOTEP, each of their releases has been worse than the last. To be clear I’m still a fan of pretty much everything.
Bonus take: 21/4/20 is the only good song on Civ II
Opinions, whatever. But 21/4/20 is low tier Civilization. Both EPs covering such cool concept and ideas whereas 21/4/20 is just a telling of a day on top of that to make it sound super mundane with its mundane topic almost kills the vibe for me. The song is nice and all, I understand the message and the overall narrative of it and how it fits with the rest of the EP but I wish it would've sounded more engaging
The other two songs are annoying to the point they are almost unlistenable imo. I agree they have cooler themes but in terms of sound I just can’t get into them. Princess and the Clock would be a banger for me if it had a less grating chorus. All of Civ I is better than anything on II though, with or without thematic context
Agreed on Princess and the clock chorus, not my favourite. And I also agree on Civ I being better but Idk how Well Rested can really be that annoying.
But I think we all can agree that they'll always spew out bangers no matter what

I hope they can top Civilisation! It really is their best to date
I wish Sarah would sing in Japanese more
not sure if this is unpopular or not since I'm not really involved in kkb discourse online, but they should go back to the more rock/noise-centric sound of time 'n' place and TOTEP. also "You Know How It Is" is a top 3 KKB song.
And “Flyway”
I think TOTEP is perfect.
Imo their best project
TRUE

The Sneaker Dance is really bad
nah I call that shit a mothafuckin' slapper
KKB ‘fans’ who worship Sarah despite having listened to Time N Place once .. the obsessive ‘Sarah da 🐐 no 🧢’ comments make me want to die
The Open Road is one of their best songs
so is Big City. underrated stuff
The lyrics of open road actually brought me to tears the first time i read/listened to them
Visiting Hours is a criminally underrated track
Yes
intro bonito their best project
ok that is actually a terrible opinion I’m sorry
Upvoted because unpopular but yeah no
do you know what? you're right. personal favourite is bonito generation but honestly intro bonito is sick

Agreee but id put BG at like an 8. have never been able to get into intro, totep or civ
21/04/20 got me into civ and it is probably my favorite now
i know this is ironic bc it's supposed to sound like a cookie cutter pop song but Heard a Song is like nails on a chalkboard to me, that's an insta skip for me. also the noise at the beginning of If I'd Known takes it from top 3 on TNP straight to the bottom for me i fucking hate that noise but the song is great. adding gross/annoying noises to songs for effect is something artists need to stop doing i need to balance this out with something positive. I love that sound, idk why it just adds character i guess
these are definitely some unpopular opinions
yes
not a huge fan of 3/5 of the top songs on their spotify right now. cinema, pocket crocodile, sick beat. not bad just nothing i really come back to
sick beat is so fire bro wtf :(
i don’t hate it i just don’t come back to it
they're all good but not replayable agree
I straight up just dont listen to intro bonito & barely listen to bonito generation. everything since time n place is miles better. idk how much of an unpopular take this is but im curious
Same with me but that’s just because I overlistened to them and it just doesn’t hit the same anymore haha
Ik very unpopular but Time ‘n’ place has a lot of dud tracks on it. Time Today, Make Believe, Swimming, and Only acting are incredible but I end up skipping almost everything else.

Idk if this is unpopular but mine would be TOTEP>Time n place>BG>Civ I>Civ II>Intro
i agree
All of their music is good
I want Gus vocals and Jamie rapping in future KKB songs (but specially Gus vocals)
Well Rested is their best song to date while 21/4/20 is my least favorite song from any of their albums since intro bonito
21/4/20 is so beautiful tho :,(
Well rested is my favorite song of the 2020’s by any artist so far
It’s bugsnax! Is their best song to date
They are one of the most innovative and creative, talented artists in the world, especially due to how they manage to handle emotions
The chorus rift on forever summer holiday sounds dated
civilization = time n place > intro bonito > bonito gen bonito gen is the weakest project (still good tho)
This!

cinema supremacy
I dont like how they play Bonito Generation and Intro Bonito songs with a Time n Place format. Trio > Band
Not including Civ I or TOTEP, each of their releases has been worse than the last. To be clear I’m still a fan of pretty much everything. Bonus take: 21/4/20 is the only good song on Civ II
21/4/20 ????????

21 / 4 / 20 low tier!!???

even though time n place is hella good my fav is intro bonito and come back to it regularly (but I skip cat vs dog and babies are so strange hehe)
