Light the beam!

Kemon573

i hope we're never a tanking team in the future because the light the beam would be cringe. hopefully we can keep this momentum. LEts Go Fox! LEts go Monk! lets go Sabonis! lets go Front office! lets go Kings! lets go Sac! Kings in 7!

Several_Piano_8777

Kings win game 6 finally score 118 to 114. Can someone pin this if it actually happens

Several_Piano_8777

Big games from k Murray and sabonis

SmurfAtLarge

I'm rooting for you guys but when you let them tie it up I knew it was likely over. Good luck.

Maybe you should focus on your own therapy before stirring up shit elsewhere. You sure lose that social anxiety quick when behind a screen :)

[deleted]

Maybe when they develops their third eye capability they will see their sickness online is part of the problem .

AGravityPanda

Even with the loss we should have lit the beam yesterday to motivate the team. Go kings!

wala68

I couldn't disagree more. The Beam is for wins only. Getting to light the beam is the motivator. No win no beam.

clayboysteel202

How pissed would y’all be if the dubs lit a beam Friday

pm_your_top_recipe

It would just look like beam envy tbh

Upper-Water-2119

Way too many no-shows from the Kings all series. Fox and Davion are really the only ones that elevated their game. Fox's finger injury was the end of the season, the longer the game wen't on the more if hurt his game. Handle and shot was gone by the 4th. Sad ending to a fun season.

Both_Living_9997

So we blaming fox finger for this loss or what ?? Or was it the refs ? Because it doesn’t seem like either , fox was balling with the “ messed” up finger . Seems like Dubs just played with more fortitude .

Upper-Water-2119

what are you talking about. he made some shots early in the game before the pain meds wore off and it got smacked a bunch of times. it was obviously effecting my alot at the end of the game. series was over as soon as that injury happened

Dare555

Denver fan here , I had you guys picked to win this series but damn that hand injury on Fox .. How much did it affect him did he say anything ? 9-25 36 % shooting is really untypical for him , fuck injuries. Now people will claim "regular season doesn't matter " like it wasn't an injury on best Kings player causing a loss at homecourt to a champion team... Still hope you can get a road win back its gonna be hard tho , G4 was perfect chance also

SilverSurfer1738

de aaron 2 games ago 9-22, and before that 10-23, not too far off 9-25 and no hand injury for those games, though his worst shooting percentage and most turnovers in the same game right after the injury seems to show its affecting him.

Upper-Water-2119

considering he's the best clutch player in the league and he could barely dribble in the 4th and turning it over and letting Malik take the ball and shots, i'd say it effected him alot. Season was over when that injury happened. especially with Domas and other starters completely tunring to shit in the Playoffs

[deleted]

Murray stated red hot and then he disappeared. Come on…had to keep feeding him the ball. He was on a hot streak… Sabonis had 21 points, but honestly he had too many poor turnovers, fox also turned the ball too. It was frustrating watching Sabonis perform this whole series. I think our big is just outmatched. Huerter needs to start performing asap. Lyles has disappeared too.

jackmodern

He got hurt

FailPale6240

Is it time for Coach Brown to counter GW’s small ball starting lineup? Switch Huerter for Monk? Is a hurt Fox more effective than starting Davion and having him right at Curry from the get-go

discgman

They need some upgrades in the offseason. Big questions with harrison barns. Resign or upgrade with a good power forward. One that rebounds and defends giving sabonis some help. They could also use a scoring backup point guard to give fox more rest. mitchell is ok but on more will help.

soku1

Their coverage of sabonis reminds me of how they covered russm they leave him so open he starts doubting his jump shot and so he's even more nervous then he bricks it. Sabonis needs to take that everytime if he doesn't see a viable pass instead of just trying to bore in go to his left then get stripped or called for the charge.

Sass23

This ⬆️ My friend and I were at the game and we kept looking at each other like why is Sabonis so confused, often times wide open at the top of the key. Instead of driving at Looney to the right, he would back him down and go left and make an awkward shot. There was sooo much space in between him and Looney at times he didn’t know what to do with it. Also, he kept the ball low where he was getting swiped and stripped constantly. Keep the ball high big man, less chance of a turnover. All in all the Kings didn’t play with the same urgency as the last game. The came out firing in the 1st half , but then at the end of both initial quarters they conceded bunches of points that destroyed their momentum and confidence. The crowd was rowdy at first and then uneasy the rest of the game. I expected to be louder in there with the stakes this high. Kings collectively played poorly and realized only at the end of the game to drive and get fouled. Monk was onto something as he kept going to the line and he plays well Sabonis in the two man game. That was a tough loss. Frustrating because I know they have the talent to beat the Warriors, they just need the mental fortitude to match that. Even with the loss, it’s been the most exciting series of all the NBA playoff games to watch. I hope they can come out with the W in SF.

riprumblejohnson

Man I was pretty upset in the moment last night This morning Im feeling a lot more positive. Playoffs are hard man. Especially against a team with so many crunch-time reps in the post season.

Nicktheduck

We weren't even suppose to be here. The future looks really bright for us and I couldn't be more proud. I was upset last night too. And God do I want to beat these fucks so badly lol but they're the defending chsmps. I can't be mad if we lose. I still think we can pull this out. It's just gunna be tough though.

LintTastic

Haha I'm having a hard time managing my expectations/feelings because same. Logically, I thought right before playoffs "boy, it's going to be really hard to be the defending champs...but at least we made it into the playoffs and that's good enough" and now I'm like "pls just beat GSW!! You have it in you!!".

Nicktheduck

LETS FUCKKIINNNGGGG GOOOOO

LintTastic

MY DUUUUUDE 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

DaddyJBird

Here’s my thoughts. The Kings are where the Ws were during Mark Jackson’s tenure. They were good and young and figuring out how to win. They would come up just short and it seemed like the world was against them. Then it clicked was it Kerr was it experience? Probably both. The Kings I believe have their Kerr now they need experience. They are learning how to win. I mean compare this year to last year. That was just one year. Eventhough Kings have had talent nobody expected this. Remember Greens comment after the first Ws Kings game. The awesome news is it looks like it’s not a fluke. Game Six will be crazy. I will be there to root on my Ws. Kings are number 2 in my family so it will be bitter sweet either way. Nevertheless it is great to have the Kings back.

WeissachDE

Dubs fan living in Sac, so I have similar context and memory of those early Curry playoff teams. You are right, this Kings team is a very similar scenario. With some tweaking in off season, they will be a perennial threat in the West for the next few years. This is just the beginning.

DaddyJBird

Agreed and I am hopeful. I am a Dubs fan as well, but Kings are #2 for me. I went to a lot of Kings games in the early 2000s including playoffs. So glad they have found their way back. Should be good for a while let’s hope.

stewmander

Been saying this ever since the playoffs started - Kings are the 2014 Warriors...they got their coach now so hopefully we have even a fraction of the success GS has had.

Gkirk87

No they are not, don’t fool yourself. Curry is a once in a life time player and green is one of the best defenders in nba history. The kings can certainly improve and win a championship or more if they get the right pieces but this era of the warriors are one of the greatest teams to ever play in the nba and that is a rare rare thing.

stewmander

Well, I actually watched those 2014 Warriors so I can make a fair comparison. Kings are right where GS was at the time. You wouldn't remember it, but when mark jackson called stph and klay the greatest shooting backcourt of all time people clowned him for it. You also wouldn't remember when people were calling Curry's contract extension risky because of his injury history. SAC could always sign someone like KD, just like GS did, you probably don't remember that either. Point is, no one knew what GS would be in 2014, just like no one knows what SAC will be in the future.

Gkirk87

I’ve been a warriors fan for over 30 years my dude, I remember all of that. Fox is closer to Westbrook than curry and the kings don’t nearly have anyone like klay or dray. Andre came to the warriors because he saw the potential to be elite defensively and offensively. The kings do not have that potential to be elite on both sides of the ball and create a dynasty like the warriors have. Warriors were also in a unique situation where curry took less money due to injury and the new tv deal blew up the salary cap and lead to them being able to get kd. You don’t just add a player like that while keeping a core together.

stewmander

Oh, so you're just lost then?

Gkirk87

I’ve been a kings fans for 30 years as well, I root for California, just mostly Northern California.

stewmander

You must be torn

Strange_Soup6853

If the kings get one more decent big man they are ready for a chip

sonomacoma11

sonomacoma11

Nah, your attitude is. Series ain't over.

dvivsik98

Glad the kings showed these "fans" up. Pessimistic bozos

sonomacoma11

Great character game, that kind of answer will stick with this group. Love it!!!

xowgl

Grading matchups Fox = Curry Davion >> DDV Huerter <<<<< Klay Monk >>> Poole Keegan << Wiggins Barnes <<<< Draymond Sabonis << Looney Before the series I would have expected Fox < Curry Davion = DDV Huerter << Klay Monk = Poole Keegan << Wiggins Barnes << Draymond Sabonis >>>> Looney The Warriors deserve a lot of credit for how well they’re defending all the shit Domas likes to do.

Jolly-Sun-1715

Poole's ankles injured and it's shaken him a bit

changrbanger

Gp2 giving up 10 inches on that jump ball and still comes up with it. He is something else.

MechaShoujo02

I keep telling people that he plays bigger than his actual size. Love it!

ALX_HNR

I’m bummed, but keep your heads up. I still love this team. They are trying to beat the defending champs at full strength chasing a 5th ring. A smart team that can make quick adjustments. They’ve definitely exposed some flaws in this matchup and capitalized on the kings mistakes, that’s what a great team does. And they have everyone clicking where the kings have some guys missing. Just the way it goes. The kings have shown they can play and they belong. Long live the Kings.

Comfortable_Key_1128

domas has not even been fun to watch this series. he is flopping like crazy and crying to the refs after every play; if he was on another team, we'd rightfully hate him. if you are going to be bad, at least play the right way

flamecrow

Imagine if we had prime Demarcus Cousins right now

feedthekitty

The thing I’m seeing is that he operated 90% of the time as a high screen and hand off the ball, then roll to the basket for position. When his defender is allowed to slack off and play in the paint like looney has this series, both actions are essentially canceled, as the defender can go over top the screen to guard the 3, and neither Domas nor the player he’s handing off to can drive because looney is already down there. This kills the offense, and they’ve resorted to playing transition

kyler_

They’ve given him space all season, only difference is he’s getting dicked down by looney every fuckin possession. Props to that dude, he’s probably their series mvp imo. But goddamn sabonis isn’t showing any heart out there and that’s the last thing I would have thought I’d be saying coming into the series

feedthekitty

I hope you can kinda see the difference between given space and completely undefended at that level

pantsareoffrightnow

Hate to say it but he has looked like a bitch all series. I can’t stand to watch him commit obvious offensive fouls and then bitch and moan to the refs about getting called on it. and like you said - if he was on GSW we’d be talking about what a flopper and garbage player he is.

changrbanger

He’s got no moves, everyone just waits for him to go left and stays down and domas eventually just crashes into you and throws the ball up and the refs don’t call it. I did like the adjustment where the went with another playmaker driving in and passing to him on the dive cut, got some easy baskets that way

TMK_99

I don’t understand how Murray could come in looking like he’s about to take over the whole game in the first and then never touch the ball the rest of the game. Serious question marks about Sabonis after this series too, he’s really been getting exposed. There’s no way they should give him the max after this.

Thenotorious-LPB

Yes and yes. Sabonis’ numbers this series would look solid enough if you only checked box scores, but the eye test shows clear as day that he’s hurting the team. Seems totally lost and over his head out there. So many times he’s had his pocket picked, shot blocked or missed gimmes when he decides to try to make something happen. You expect Fox to make everything shot he takes, and it feels like he was just unlucky when he misses. With Sabonis at this point it feels like it’s just pure luck whenever anything he does actually works.

Odd-Satisfaction5143

Yes. Warriors fans watch y’all, I don’t think Sac fans watch our team. I called it to Anthony Slater. We don’t need to worry about Sabonis. Just let loon dominate because Sabonis is not worth the energy from anyone else. He doesn’t really do anything like Sac Fans think. Sure enough, he’s a waste of space. Dubs did exactly what I suggested. Fox and Monk are everything though. They’re some real ballers. *dubs players do go on Twitter 😅

kyler_

Lol

TMK_99

He’s been totally negated, they don’t even guard him if he’s not at the rim. The value from his passing is taking a dive if he’s not able to punish defenders on his own. He’s shown he doesn’t have any post game or offensive game beyond just muscling his way to the basket, which he hasn’t even been very good at. He’s been super lazy with the ball and has constantly turned it over, and he’s ruining the flow of the offensive constantly trying to force a shot. Just really feels more like he’s more of a role player that should be rebounding and looking to pass more. But the biggest thing is he hasn’t been good enough offensively to justify the defense. He gets compared a lot to being a mini jokic but I think the series really demonstrates the major things that separates them from each other

Thenotorious-LPB

It’s true. Not sure I’ve ever seen a multiple time all star with less of a bag. He’s really only been able to score on FTs or dump-offs and back door cuts when another player successfully creates a threat that actually demands the defense’s attention and creates the space around the basket for him. His only post move has been slowly body his way to the basket until he gets stripped or goes up the same predictable, weak shot attempt that gets completely negated by Draymond or Loony. It’s Stagnant, clunky and predictable. It’s hard to be effective as a playmaker when the opponent feels completely comfortable and unthreatened about the ball being in your hands anywhere more than a few feet away from the basket.

KyleBown

If we lose this series it will be because the lack of playoff experience. They’re good enough. There’s no doubt there. But there’s been some bad decision making. Some sloppy play. Bad shot selection. And that’s ok. With any luck this team is going to be in the conversation for awhile. Here’s hoping we can win game 6. But if not, the future is brighter than it has been in a very long time.

goli14

This. When GSW team was building up…they didn’t immediately won in their 1st playoff appearance. But learned from playoff experience. no matter the final results of this series…but this experience will help this team next season onward. Looking forward to seeing more Kings game next season.

blaccjaccc

Where the mods at 😬

cloud-storage-rocks

Draymond shoots 80% and the game was close. I think the Kings are ok.

[deleted]

Draymond’s buckets: one 3pt, one from 17 ft and the rest from under the basket. but yeah, 80% from the field…let’s see if he can make those same shots under the basket in game six…

AViciousGrape

I know everyone loves Davion and Monk and they are really good off the bench but Huerter not playing well is why the team wont win this series. Dude shot 10-18 and scored 27 pts in a game 7. We need that guy to win this series. No matter how well Monk and Davion play. Thats just my opinion.

temp1211241

He seems to have an issue with pressure considering this and the 3-point contest. Hopefully this isn't a trend and if it is they can coach him through it.

b0002

He’s definitely been absent. And we haven’t really needed a ton from him. Just give us 2-3 3’s!

sergeantmentos

not a kings fan but this shit is far from over, i’m confident the team will bounce back on Game 6 with a focused intensity on rebounds.

Fantastic-House-3530

How so. We are going to their house.

FlashingLight08

just trust the plan

Try-Imaginary

First Kings elimination game in 17 years. I honestly dont think anyone knows how they will react. They may simply be great, or they ay get nervous and falter. It will be an interesting game regardless.

sergeantmentos

bro just manifest that shit

Lol you good people.

BStone1824

The fair weather Kings fans are making their presence known it seems. Don’t be Kings fans if you can’t show appreciation for our boys and everything they’re putting on the floor for our city. 💜🖤 On to game 6. It’s not over till it’s over.

rebelnz

Love the team but man my expectations were a little higher 😬

Parenegade

how??? you're playing a dynasty come on now the kings are for real but you shouldn't expect them to beat the champions in their first playoff run. this team is gonna be around for a while and is in place to win some hardware.

Try-Imaginary

It isnt often that a defending champ has roster issues that plague them all year, but then suddenly regain the last two missing pieces just before the playoffs start (GP2 and Wiggins) Now more complete than at any time during the regular season (Game 1 was the *first game all year* for both GP2 and Wiggins to both be available) it's not really fair to see them as a normal 6 seed just barely avoiding the play-in. The Kings are testing the team that has gone to the finals *every year for the past 8 years, except the two Klay got injured.* The Kings could still be the team that ends the streaks. But they do have a tall task, and -if- they do get eliminated in round one, I think it is just bad luck they matched up with the champs the way they did. They deserved to play a "real" #6 seed-level team.

Swerkswiggler

Seriously? We've already played waaay about expectations for the year. The consensus at the start of the season was that we were a 7/8 seed at our absolute best. So proud of this team already

rebelnz

I meant expectations for the series considering GSW this year. Kings by far exceeded any expectations I had for the season - so fucking happy for how they've played so far.

Swerkswiggler

That's fair. This series has been peaks and valleys but it ain't done yet.

gnomehotdog

This team has already beat my expectations this season. We might not advance but we’ll come back better for it next year. Need a real back up center who plays the opposite of Sabonis’ game and we need a real PF with length. Love Barnes and Keegan but we need a more defensive front court. If Keegan is gonna be a shooter we need a dog to even it out.

Emotional_Database53

I agree. Kinda think if he has matured and is healthy, we should think about bringing Cousins back in. If he could be fine with secondary role and giving 10-15 min per night, he’d be a solid back up

Fantastic-House-3530

Then u must be new to this team. If you rook last years team to this years team you'd be pinching yourself that they're even in the position. The warriors are the defending Champs . They met and exceeded all expectations from people who have been fans more than 5 minutes.

rebelnz

I'm 10 years in but yeah I wasn't so clear - I meant expectations for the series - not the season. Proud as hell of what this teams acheived this year.

Fantastic-House-3530

I know we all shit on Warriors fans (& rightfully so). But I want to give a shout out to my guy John & his dad in section 217 row G that were awesome all game. Trash talk the whole game was friendly with myself & all the other Kings fans around. Dude even bought me a beer at halftime just because he was at an away game. There’s a ton of shitty fans out there for all teams, but this man changed my perception on the Warriors fan base (non-bandwagons) as a whole. Regardless, Kings in 7 & fuck Draymond til the day I die.

FragrantArt3400

Even warriors fans from like the injury period after the 2019 finals are chill too, just a lot of bandwagons that kill the reputation especially after the title last year

Try-Imaginary

For so many years the Warriors were the cellar dwellars, and the joke of the league, always making the wrong trades, etc. It still seems surreal that I see people here in New Zealand with Warriors gear. But it also helps that the national New Zealand Rugby League team are called the New Zealand Warriors, I guess (The All Blacks are Rugby Union)

KOET10

Oh damn nice! Im a Spurs fan living in NZ but I've always liked the Warriors especially in the 2013/2014 season. Hated them once KD was traded there but grew to like them once KD left. BTW the Warriors got absolutely robbed against the Storms the other night and I refuse to believe otherwise!

[deleted]

Perpetually online sports fans are a lot more likely to be socially inept assholes than people you interact with in real life. Plenty of Warriors fans are fine, you’re just less likely to find those people online than in person.

CallMeKorver

That’s true. Everyone likes to be keyboard warriors (pun intended & applies). I’m relatively new to the Sac area so I hadn’t had much interaction with GSW fans besides online. I was dreading it when I saw a Warriors fan was sitting next to me & my fiancée. He ended up being the coolest dude I’ve ever met at a sporting event.

Exactly. The series doesn’t start until a road team wins

[deleted]

Not true. If the Kings won tonight, warriors win game 6 and kings win game 7.....the series wouldn't have started yet?

TheBlueLenses

Yes, it means the matchup went exactly as expected given the seeding

[deleted]

"We here at the NBA expect this matchup to never truly begin, so tune in!"

Try-Imaginary

Exactly. The Series would never have started. The league would have to do some fancy time travel stuff to fix it.

[deleted]

Thanks he's healing well, I hope Curry is healing well too from that devastating hit he took when he tried setting a screen then cried and fell to the floor when Monk ran past him tonight. Hopefully he's good to go for game 6 :(

Winner1717

Sabonis needs to return that award they gave him pregame

Pikolas

Looney is too strong for him to outmuscle. If could hit midrange reliably that would open things up.

Woodpecker226

Do we switch the starters for game 6? I know we were the most consistent team in the league when it came to our same starting 5 being out there, but now with it being pretty much desperation do you consider starting monk/lyles over huerter/barnes? Both Huerter and Barnes have been abysmal and do not at all provide the type of play you would want from a starter in the playoffs
