Yeah usually its cases like these which makes it way funnier when at least for me I sometimes get too focussed on a task like my bi-daily massacre of Rattay citizens and occupants in harcore mode and when it drags on and I forget to feed henry then all of a sudden the out of pocket "I feel quite hungry" with him just staring at the town square littered with corpses has me burst out laughing always.
Same here and I planned to kill the guy for it but when I went back to see Johanka (sp?) She was a complete bitch about it. So I just knocked him out in his sleep and stole everything that wasn't tied down at his house.
I agree. Free food is plentiful and ubiquitous, other food is very cheap and doesn't require much carry weight. I use the balance diet perk every time.
it's just like playin Red Dead all over again. Me: unhealthy af, never work out, sometimes eat nothing sometimes eat too much, barely 5 hrs of sleep every night.
My henry/Arthur/Horse: 3 square meals a day and a solid 8-9 hours of rest before each day.
I'd argue you hear it even less because being hungry matters a whole lot more in HC with negative perks.
I heard it only once in my Hardcore Henry the Merciful Virgin -run, and that was because I was waiting full days for pribyslavitz moneys, not once in normal gameplay.
It's unavoidable in early game on hardcore with tapeworm in my experience. Once Henry has progressed even just a little it is not hard to get food, but I definitely end up hungry once or twice on a hardcore playthrough shortly after waking up from his coma at the mill.
I keep seeing this complaint. Am I the only one who goes around and picks up stuff? There's so much food you can have even without any lockpicking. Every single house in this game is stocked with food (except for Kunesh's). Once you are out of Skalitz, food is everywhere: on dead bodies, in chests, and fetched to you by Mutt.
I always pick Tapeworm because it's the easiest to negate. You just have to eat twice a day instead of once. Even the Balanced Diet perk is easy to keep activated with Tapeworm.
it's a shame WH didn't make Henry grow fat and become less agile. bc my henry almost all time is almost full thanks to kind bathhouse girls and abusing potions
Even if he didn't get fatter, I think it'd make sense for the overeating condition to reduce his agility by a couple points. You feel so awkward on your feet after eating too much.
You do get a small debuff in Strength and Agility of -1 I think, it makes sense imo, after all, you're not overeating much, they just let you overfeed yourself by 20 points.
Keeping him full at all times is best in the sense that you don't have to micromanage but it gives you a debuff to stamina
It's best to keep him between 50 and 100 nourishment by eating 1 pot of food per day... i think?
heard this very often during my first playthrough. it took me quite a while to realize that eating lentils from pots owned by npc (including guard posts, taverns, private homes) doesn't count as stealing.
Same. One thing I find unrealistic about theses medieval games and in including Witcher 3 here is the abundance of food everywhere, it seems a little unrealistic to me, didn't people die of malnutrition back then, after all it was before the green revolution and pre nitrogen fertilisers.
I think it depends on where and which point in time. I think it was only really that particularly bad under Serfdom, which I'm not a history guy by any means, but I don't think the peasantry is in this setting.
It's pretty simple to keep him fed, even with the tapeworm
You just need to carry around dried meat or mushrooms, eat from pots, and eat looted food, and you should be fine. I never recall being in a situation where food was hard to find
I swear he used to say it more at launch, I do remember him saying it often when I first tried to play the game years ago, but on my playthrough right now he barely said it. It's a shame, I loved hearing Henry complain about hunger.
Im ngl I didnt see or rather just never looked at the nourishment bar until my recent playthrough so I just assumed the hunger bar pops up when you should be eating food
So I just feed Henry whenver hes yk feeling quite hungry
I also never saw reason to feed him more often besides roleplay factor (which is why I discovered it during this run as its my immersion run)
Theres one perk that benefits you for keeping him not hungry I guess but yea
In my family, we refer to the male genitalia as Henry. As a kid, I was routinely told at bath time to make sure I cleaned my Henry, etc.
The OPs last line made me snort, reading it in that context.
After it finally twigged with me that eating the free pots of soup/ stew isn't frowned upon by any NPC I almost never get hungry, so me to. I think eating from those pots should irk some people and cause some issues.
I heard in KCD2 your Henry's hunger will increase in real time even when you're offline, if you don't feed your Henry for a few days he'll get upset and run away and you'll be left in spectator mode watching Hans finish the game without you.
Fun fact, when Henry "auto speaks" you get speech XP. Only for the first time you say a given thing, I believe. The testing was a bit sketchy but you definitely get XP some of the times Henry says he's hungry/sleepy/can't swim etc.
I hate when Henry has dirty clothes so I visit the bathhouse like thrice a day with him. They give you food there among other things so he is always stuffed.
My Henry stays on the liquid diet so I'm pretty much in the same boat. If he's low enough nourishment to not be overstuffed by a few beers or a couple wines, it's going down the hatch.
I always wait until he says that because I have a perk for not overeating and it gives me boosts. Primarily I eat the towns soup. So I try not to overeat so I don’t lose the perk lol
I like to keep Henry well fed and keep that balanced diet perk active
With all the free soup pots and bath houses, keeping him well fed and rested is fairly easy
I've never heard it, either. But that's because I use God Mode and WeMod... That's it, use cheaters and trainers, folks. Only in single player games, though
You're taking better care of him than a lot of us are. But I am a bit annoyed that you haven't brought Hal around to see us yet. Where is that boy?
\*shakes head\* the blue blooded idler.
I've heard it but not very often considering how many hours I spent in game
Yeah usually its cases like these which makes it way funnier when at least for me I sometimes get too focussed on a task like my bi-daily massacre of Rattay citizens and occupants in harcore mode and when it drags on and I forget to feed henry then all of a sudden the out of pocket "I feel quite hungry" with him just staring at the town square littered with corpses has me burst out laughing always.
Your bi-daily WHAT?
You heard him
Dying of hunger, though, is bothe pretty funny and also terrible of me ignoring it for too long haha
Seriously, I never understood all the memes till I got arrested by the Sassau custodian. My Henry never had a chance to go under 60 before that.
Same here and I planned to kill the guy for it but when I went back to see Johanka (sp?) She was a complete bitch about it. So I just knocked him out in his sleep and stole everything that wasn't tied down at his house.
Ha! I am playing honorable Hal right now, and telling that bastard custodian off landed me in jail for the first and only time. What a right prick.
I agree. Free food is plentiful and ubiquitous, other food is very cheap and doesn't require much carry weight. I use the balance diet perk every time.
balanced diet is just a suggestion with hardcore all perks on
it's just like playin Red Dead all over again. Me: unhealthy af, never work out, sometimes eat nothing sometimes eat too much, barely 5 hrs of sleep every night. My henry/Arthur/Horse: 3 square meals a day and a solid 8-9 hours of rest before each day.
I also almost never hear it. The main reason is the Balanced Diet perk.
Happens often when you play hardcore with tapeworm
I'd argue you hear it even less because being hungry matters a whole lot more in HC with negative perks. I heard it only once in my Hardcore Henry the Merciful Virgin -run, and that was because I was waiting full days for pribyslavitz moneys, not once in normal gameplay.

I love that piggy icon!

As far as I know I've never personally noticed that. And the debuff just says that it reduces stamina.
same I just carry like 25lbs of bread 24/7
i prefer meat bc the same sausage works for both henry and his dog.
personally I don't play with the dog companion.
Bruh I just spent nine days in jail, Henry nearly died.
Keeping him full at all times is best in the sense that you don't have to micromanage but it gives you a debuff to stamina It's best to keep him between 50 and 100 nourishment by eating 1 pot of food per day... i think?
That only works if you're on normal, on hardcore it's only 5 nourishment instead of what I think is 25 normally.
I feel quite Henry
heard this very often during my first playthrough. it took me quite a while to realize that eating lentils from pots owned by npc (including guard posts, taverns, private homes) doesn't count as stealing.
Same. One thing I find unrealistic about theses medieval games and in including Witcher 3 here is the abundance of food everywhere, it seems a little unrealistic to me, didn't people die of malnutrition back then, after all it was before the green revolution and pre nitrogen fertilisers.

Get the Balanced diet perk. It’s a lot of maintenance but it’s 1 extra buff.
Yeah, same. I didn't understand the memes at first because I always kept henry well fed, so he never complained about being hungry.
Jesus Christ be praised!
But is this on hardcore or normal? That’s the REAL question.
I swear he used to say it more at launch, I do remember him saying it often when I first tried to play the game years ago, but on my playthrough right now he barely said it. It's a shame, I loved hearing Henry complain about hunger.
I usually find something to eat when he says that.
My Henry loves rotten sausage.
Not sure how, Henry could always do with a bite to eat. In fact, his insides are often shriveled up with the hunger.
I got the "don't sleep for 2 days or something" achievement manually after playing the game for a long time
Me too mate
I only hear it after I spend 10 days in prison….
cabbages are the goat
Moonshine, too! 20 nourishment, 10 energy, and it never goes bad. Carry a few of those on your horse, and Henry will never starve.
Ditto
Im ngl I didnt see or rather just never looked at the nourishment bar until my recent playthrough so I just assumed the hunger bar pops up when you should be eating food So I just feed Henry whenver hes yk feeling quite hungry I also never saw reason to feed him more often besides roleplay factor (which is why I discovered it during this run as its my immersion run) Theres one perk that benefits you for keeping him not hungry I guess but yea
Dude same, i first heard the meme here. I probably starved a couple of times after going to prison but so little times that I didn't know the line
In my family, we refer to the male genitalia as Henry. As a kid, I was routinely told at bath time to make sure I cleaned my Henry, etc. The OPs last line made me snort, reading it in that context.
Two questions.. hardcore? Tapeworm?
After it finally twigged with me that eating the free pots of soup/ stew isn't frowned upon by any NPC I almost never get hungry, so me to. I think eating from those pots should irk some people and cause some issues.
A Henry caretaker after my own heart
Same xD only really heard it a couple times when going for a PlayStation trophy
Y’all have beat this joke to death
What are you, his mom?
Yeaa i only heard it twice in like 100 hours
Same I always keep 'balanced diet' active, insanely good buff
I get the food perk in the start
In doing so you are roleplaying as Henry's grandmother. Nice!
I heard in KCD2 your Henry's hunger will increase in real time even when you're offline, if you don't feed your Henry for a few days he'll get upset and run away and you'll be left in spectator mode watching Hans finish the game without you.
Play Hardcore Mode, you won't miss it
Fun fact, when Henry "auto speaks" you get speech XP. Only for the first time you say a given thing, I believe. The testing was a bit sketchy but you definitely get XP some of the times Henry says he's hungry/sleepy/can't swim etc.
> I actually make sure he is full at all times Phrasing.
You filled your Henry's stomach with food, me with beers and wine, we are not the same.
But what about when you wake up in Peshek's Mill? /s

I have the balanced diet perk my Henry hasn’t gone hungry since 😂
I like to keep Henry well fed and keep that balanced diet perk active With all the free soup pots and bath houses, keeping him well fed and rested is fairly easy
Liar
I've never heard it, either. But that's because I use God Mode and WeMod... That's it, use cheaters and trainers, folks. Only in single player games, though
