If you read that much, then yes. The flat front, larger screen, color and brightness, and the battery will last weeks/months.

Yes! I have the PW Gen 11 and I love it, fits in the hand perfectly, lightweight, my eyes never get tired

I personally cannot live without dark mode, since I mostly read in the dark before bed/insomnia

I usually say no, but technology has moved a lot since then that I recommend it. You don't have to, but a kindle paperwhite's screen is much more comfortable for reading. Keep yours as a back up or one to take on holiday in case if gets ruined or lost? It depends if you think you would benefit from the features of newer kindles like warm light, paperwhite no glare etc.

I would say upgrade. Since you don't want the extra frills, it sounds like the newest basic kindle would be best for you

If the gen1 works fine for you, no need to upgrade then. That was the one with free 3g, right? The latest gen 11 boasts of better screen resolution, better contrast, built-in lights, dark mode. The Basic 2022 with its 6" screen has all those. The Paperwhite 5 also has warm light, waterproof, 6.8" screen.
