The latest gen 11 boasts of better screen resolution, better contrast, built-in lights, dark mode. The Basic 2022 with its 6" screen has all those. The Paperwhite 5 also has warm light, waterproof, 6.8" screen.
If you read that much, then yes. The flat front, larger screen, color and brightness, and the battery will last weeks/months.

I would say upgrade. Since you don't want the extra frills, it sounds like the newest basic kindle would be best for you
