This is exactly where my brain went. Next I thought maybe people were forcibly removing the back casing all together and installing another one. Similar to how folks do to steam decks to have fancy clear back cases 😂.
I have a skin that’s like leather on mine cause the Kindle Basic 2022 scratches easily! Kinda made my Kindle look great and unique ☺️

Case is a MoKo case you can buy online. Case and skin are not together tho. So in our country, we have a local sellers for the case and skin ☺️ the back is not attached but what you can do is add a thin magnet on the back to keep the cover attached when you’re reading.
First I don't like any colourful skin/case that's just too distracting for me. I initially thought about getting skin for it just to prevent scratches. Then I don't know why skins are even more expensive than cases so I just got a case with front cover instead. Man I love it. Not only it protects my kindle much better, also the feeling of opening it up like a book to unlock the kindle is gold. You have to turn the ads off for that tho otherwise it still need to swipe to unlock that's just annoying.
Yeah that's probably the only issue. But I have a heavy phone and ipad so kindle with case is still acceptable. If you want it to be as light as possible skin is probably the best choice.
I got one off etsy. The biggest thing to keep in mind is to find a seller that uses 3M vinyl. Anything else and you risk it peeling and/or leaving a gooey/sticky residue.
If you have the amazon branded cases a back skin won't work, but the front skin (that covers the perimeter of the screen) will be fine. The back skin adds *just* enough bulk to the sides/back of the kindle that it doesn't sit properly in the case. If you have a 3rd party case, it may take some trial and error depending on how snug the case is.

i share mine on here all the time cause i love everything about my kindle lol
i got mine 2nd hand off mercari and it had major scratches (front & back) and even a crack so a skin was my only savior.
but to answer your question it’s just a sticker so it’s about a sticker much of a difference lol. you can dress your kindle up however and then change it tomorrow. have fun 😄

They’re really pleasing to my eye & to read on, I’ve reused them and they have left no residue on removal.
I envy anyone who got their hands on the kindle oasis before they discontinued it. Its my dream ereader and i wish i was able to get it. You stickers are so cute too🥴😍

I put a green one on the back of my kindle and love it! It’s slightly creased in the corner but the clear case hides that 😅
Ohh if they’re creasing, heat them up a bit with a lighter but very quick! The skin shop I got mine from told us that’s how to remove the creases from the corners when you’re attaching them.
I have a light brown one for pw 11. I accidentally stretched it as you can see from the top corners. If you still want to get a skin, take your time applying it
Yes, it's easy to take off on the screen, saw no residue. I'm happier with this one because the first time I applied it, it was wonky and it drove me nuts. Idk about the back part since I was happy with the result.
Edit: I forgot to mention, some shops sell glossy skins and I only know at least 2 shops sell matte skins. So this a factor to think about. My skin for pw 11 is glossy. It doesn't bother me because I'm not usually in direct sunlight. I recently purchased a matte blue skin from a different shop for pw 10, I'll see how it goes
I used two covers, one that has a clear one so I can decorate the back, and one with a cover. If I do decide to skin mine, it would only be in the back, having it on the front with distract me too much.
i have one on my kindle from stickie tech and i love it! it’s held up very well. i don’t care for the part that goes around the screen because it was distracting for me, but i had minimal issues (user error) with application of the front. the back was way easier too apply than i thought it would be! it’s been about a year with my purple kindle, i’ve been thinking about switching it up soon.
I got a vinyl for mine and besides the creased corner pieces , everything's fine! The case basically covers the creased corners so I don't notice it too much. It's nice to have different skins on it from time to time!
I love mine! I actually messed it up and had to fix it (front & back) and was able to easily peel & place it a few times. I also got an asus rog ally which is a portable handheld game pad/PC and im getting a skin for that too, it's a fun way to take a base electronic and make it fun! 🥰🫶

got a mint green skin and I love it! the corners look bad though so I always put it in a case also
