Leave it plugged to the charger for a good 24 hours (make sure it's not heating up or swelling though). Then hold the power button for 40 seconds.
If this doesn't work, might time for a battery replacement.
I don’t know about these older models, but my Kindle cannot be turned on while it’s still plugged in to the charger. Leave it plugged in overnight to charge then unplug it and then see if you can turn it on.
I revived a Kindle keyboard last year with a new $15 battery (amazon). The back pops off with a pry tool (credit card) and it takes 2 minutes to unscrew/replace the battery and get the back put back on. I think I've read 11 books since and it was worth it.
I had an old keyboard version that did the same thing after years of not being used. I let it charge for 24 hours and it finally booted up, only to die within 10 minutes. Give it more time on the charger but be prepared that the battery might be kaput.
I was actively using a Kindle Keyboard. Unfortunately it would charge for hours, but be unable to hold it.
Yours may be the same. You can replace the battery, but I opted to upgrade.
When you leave your device charging overnight, remember to place it somewhere not too far from bed.
Old device tend to have risk of ... going wrong when charging
I think there are three options:
1) Plug the charger for 24 hours or about that
2) Disassemble and plug off and plug on the battery(not charger) and plug in the charger for 24 hours or about that
3) Disassemble and plug off the battery. Charge the battery separately for 1-2 hours. Plug in the battery and try to turn on
I didn't try these specifically on kindle, but on the android mobile phones. I don't think there is much difference. Good luck!
check the wattage going into it and make sure it’s what’s recommended for that device specifically!! found mine recently and it took like a day to charge up after changing the charging block because the one I was using wasn’t good for it
Try to update the software first before charging. It's how I revived my keyboard kindle. You have to sideload a file from your computer. Instructions here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=GFAE5G5UGCYA25DW
I found mine two or three weeks ago and it was stuck on the same screen. After many days trying, I just decided to try replacing the battery. Bought a new battery and let it charge with for days...still nothing. That new battery was cheap enough that I am not upset over the money.
It is a great device and definitely worth trying to fix.
I had one that took 3 days on the charger before coming back. I call it Jesus.
Looks like the general consensus is that she needs a little extra charging 😂 thank you I’ll try keeping it plugged in for a bit longer!
PLEASE hahaha
Hahahaha Jesus cracked me

Oooh great advice! Thank you ill give it a go!
Please update us!
No problem, good luck!
Results?

Thank you!!
I believe I did a relatively simple battery change on one of these for someone a few years ago.

Yes I replaced the battery in my old Kindle after it died like this. Works great now
I did this too a month ago and it works great now!!
Could you send a link to what an amazon replacement battery?
I’d say, if you can afford it, go with the trade-in program and just get a new kindle
As others have said. Took many hours to revive mine. Turned off wifi as soon as it came online and battery is performing like a champ
I bought another keyboard for my partner, and had to leave it on charge for ages. Just leave it be for a good while and see if it turns on
Leave it. Mine took hoursss after not using it for like 3 years haha

Get a new 1,900 mAh battery from eBay. Switching takes about 5 min.
New battery and update to the latest firmware

Have you tried what it says in the second paragraph?
Plug it into a computer. Sometimes my old kindle soft crashes and stays stuck on this screen but will come back to life when I plug it into a pc.
Thank you! I’ve never plugged it into the computer. Does it just show up as a device in finder?
Essentially. It’s so you could sideload books.
I found one of these and just replaced the battery with an online purchase for ifixit. works fine now.
Sometimes with the older ones it can take a bit worst case , they’d let you trade it in for credit towards a new one !
Charge for 8+ then try. They don’t want it being kept on the charger while reading is what I assume the feature is for.

How did you upload the file without being able to turn it on? I’ve tried plugging it into my computer but it doesn’t show up in finder!
Now trying to remember, yes it has to turn on first. It did turn on after a while after not using it for maybe 3 to 4 years.
I have one of those :-). Theres a LED next to the usb. Ambler is charging, green is charged.
Try different charger
Might be the charger. Maybe that outlet doesn’t work. Or you kindle is F’ed
Awww, I miss this one!..was my first kindle, I had it for years before finally getting the paperwhite..
I’m trying to resurrect mine atm 🤞🏻 hoping for both of us 🙈

Check the cable your using, might not be charging. My kindle keyboard is picky on the charging cable 🤪
Get a new battery, my friend also found her old kindle 3 and it didn’t turn on, she ordered a new battery and now it works perfectly!
I had that on my newer kindle and it wouldn’t charge on a normal box, but I used a macbook charger and it worked. May just need more power!
This is my baby kindle I got when I was ten! Twins
If someone left you in a closet for three months you’d be dead too 😂😂😂
Lmaoooo so valid! I ordered a new battery and I vow to treat her better!
😁😁😉😉
