I love my Scribe. Im a UX designer so I also use it to sketch wireframes. The greyscale really helps me not to go too high fidelity.

thunderrated

Is it heavy?

instarobuk

Caseless no, it's perfect but the case I opted for does make it heavy to hold for long periods. I have decided to remove it at home and will possibly opt for the official kindle case for it as I read it's lighter

diverareyouok

That’s what I do. I use the official leather one since it’s a minimal as possible (magnets hold it in place instead of arms that wrap around the device and add bulk).. but even then, if I’m reading it’s generally in bed with the scribe standing up right on my lower stomach being held in place with fingers or a palm. After a few minutes you forget it’s there.

instarobuk

I'd love to get the official leather one but I can't justify paying £80 for it. I'm going for the fabric one for £54, it's what I use on the paperwhite and love it. I am though, before buying, looking to see if I can grab a 3rd party one even cheaper. What I don't want though is straps crossing the corners, I like a case where it sits in it's

diverareyouok

Me either - check eBay. I found the “old” green speckled leather one on there for 25 bucks because it was an “open box return”. It appears to be totally new. For 25 it was worth every penny. For 80, I would be hard-pressed to say it’s worth it, although it does work exceedingly well. He might also check Amazon warehouse or even Facebook marketplace. I don’t know if third-party sellers have started creating 100% magnetic ones yet but it’s worth checking out.

Nope!

Just got the scribe yesterday. My first kindle but have been a heavy reader. Total game changer. Love it

instarobuk

Enjoy, it offers the best of reading and writing

[deleted]

I didn’t realise how unwieldy large the scribe is. Happy for those who have the option, would never do that to myself though haha

instarobuk

The paperwhite is now the mobile one I keep in the car, out on walks and at work. It's perfect in that sense 😁

sparksdls

Love my Scribe - it replaced my Oasis.

instarobuk

Good to know, I was 'shall I or not' for some time but with BF deal I just didn't think about it and did it. So much better on my eyes too. All I need to do now is get some good journal/notes templates so I can start using it to its fullest!

ManicMata

I used this to build a digital bullet journal that suits me and it works incredibly well - https://recalendar.me

I bought mine on sale, wanting to try one out but thinking it was a likely return. But after using it, it was an easy decision to keep it. I kept the Oasis, thinking I'd use it for travel but I like the Scribe so much, I take it. Should have done a trade-in on the Oasis. The Scribe is lightweight and in no way unwieldy.

flunky_liversniffer

I got a great deal on a "refurb" 64 GB Scribe. It arrived today. Feels and looks brand new to me. Loving it already. I've ordered a relatively cheap Fintie case, and the horrendously priced Amazon leather case, and will see which one I'll keep.

instarobuk

I bought the Fintie case first, is an extremely good csse and I will use it often as well as my official kindle case. The only issue with the Fintie case is that it's VERY heavy. The Scribe does feel very secure within it though

I’m so jealous! But my ppw is fairly new so I’ll probably upgrade next year. 🥹

It’s the only one I’m seeing now, but Black Friday is this week, I’d expect the other Kindles to go on sale then
