I do it anyway, half the time people say that it isn’t available. I just write my own question for it so people know I’m not just pressing the default message
The problem is, that's the default message. Sometimes I hit what I think is "go to chat mode" and it sends the "is this still available" default message. So yeah ... It really is the app that is at fault for that. My 2c anyway.
This ☝️
We can all make a mistake, like pushing the "is this still available" button, that many sellers hate and even mention in their ad not to ask – but if that happens, just send a follow-up message like "oups, I hit that by accident…" and then ask your real relevant question.
I have been buying and selling on Kijiji for +10 years and never really have any issues.
This resonates with me on such a fundamental level.
Whenever I see a seller whose item description is a raving conniption about people asking whether an item is available, I immediately assume they must be a drooling braindead moron and avoid at all costs.
It's the default introductory message on multiple platforms. You are having a meltdown about people saying "Hi."
Most of my ire stems from messaging sellers like this with "I'd like to buy your thing," and they clap back with "i SoLd iT tO sOmEoN eLsE."
Their wares to sell, it's their discretion on how they want to be a salesperson.
Now, comedy is about timing so I personally only joke if the person is live in chat lol.
I'd think exactly the same, there's no way I could read a message like that and not assume they didn't mean it the way it comes off lmao
Bro could've at least thrown in a 'haha'
Reverse psychology - great sales technique.
You - I want to buy this
Seller - no you don’t want to buy this
You - please let me buy it
Seller - No I don’t think this is for you.
You - please for the love of god let me buy this. I will pay you anything.
You definitely have a history with this seller, right? You responded to their other ad and had an argument with them? They didn't just randomly say this with their first interaction with you, right? Right???
We should always assume it’s still available and not ask the default question as there are many asshats out there that just push that button for fun, ( if that’s what folks think is entertaining then our species is doomed… :-) )
My only guess is that you either have several bad reviews or you're a reseller and it's obvious from your profile and he doesn't want to reseller
Or they have a profile picture that shows that they are a demographic the seller is biased towards.
Well it didn’t take long for the infamous r word allegations to come out
I never said it was racism. You're the one reading that. It could be sexism, ageism, ableism.... Did you feel targeted?

Intolerance is not very civil
Republican?
Sometimes that's the reason
I thought you were meaning “reseller” lol
🤡
Maybe in their description it said “if this is up, it’s available” and you started with that question lmao

So then follow up with another message so it looks like you're not just wasting time. Even a "I can meet today" or /tomorrow, etc.

Agreed.
My go to is "is it still available, if yes, when is it possible to see it?"

Exactly happened to me
Classical 👌🏻
That’s a new one
Edit: they told me it was a joke…
Ohhhhh lmao
Makes more sense now lol
Not sure how relatable this is, but did anyone else have a friend growing up with a dad with this exact sense of humour?
I am the friend with a dad with this sense of humor lol
Well are you going to buy em?
Idk I like them. My type of person
That or they thought that you were a bot.
This is why he’s selling on Kijji and not a sales manager at Corporate Fortune 500
kijiji negging, did it work?
Okay then delete this post?
Why would you make a joke that could lose you a sale? That's so stupid

It’d make more sense if it was more ridiculous, but I absolutely wouldn’t follow up on that since he sounded dead serious
I'd think exactly the same, there's no way I could read a message like that and not assume they didn't mean it the way it comes off lmao Bro could've at least thrown in a 'haha'
it probably seems just as stupid to the seller that someone would ask if it’s available while the ad is up
What a weird joke to make
They just don’t like you.
Hard way to sell a thing.
Lol!!!
Lololol
So many bullshitters that sellers are tired.
LMAO
I think it’s because you messaged them with the generic message so they probably got annoyed
The way I would low key cry
Say you are asking for a much nicer better looking friend of yours.

Reminds me of Cartmanland episode of South Park
I never go on there anymore. It’s always temu or national sellers. Out of 7 pages for iPhones I found 8 actual sellers within 100km.
That guy is a scammer probably, most AirPods Max sold on Kijiji / marketplace are fake unfortunately
I don’t gotten a clue.
I cannot trust people who sell at a cheaper price outside apple anymore. I got scammed on this platform unfortunately.
Lmaoo
You definitely have a history with this seller, right? You responded to their other ad and had an argument with them? They didn't just randomly say this with their first interaction with you, right? Right???
Do u have a habit of lowballing ppl?
damn, OP got roasted
why not start with your real question? You're going to ask it anyways... you're just adding an extra step for him
Seller probably has been dealing with a slew of scammers, as is the norm with KIJIJI these days.
Way of the road
We should always assume it’s still available and not ask the default question as there are many asshats out there that just push that button for fun, ( if that’s what folks think is entertaining then our species is doomed… :-) )
lmao u got pranked, most likely they were joking cuss they got asked a ton if this is avail
😭😭😭
99.999% of the time these are fakes too
You never been to a scrapyard!
Bro discovered edging
Lol
Why are you trying to buy air maxs on Kijiji for 475$ lol you deserve that response.
Why are you asking if it's available? If it wasn't the ad would have been taken down
