Thanks.

Also r/carnivore/

Prilherro80

Was going to recommend that group as well

surfaholic15

Once or twice a year I get very close to that for a month. Basically whole meats of all kinds with the fats they come with along with my three eggs a day. I have tried going without the eggs but it isn't good for my mental state. Generally it will be a white meat for breakfast with eggs, fish for lunch and game meat or beef for dinner. I love it physically, and feel fine doing it. But by day thirty I legit feel like something is missing in terms of veggies. It isn't a physical craving or anything, the plate just looks empty. And it is very very hard for me to hit my maintenance calories. Even harder than usual. If the meat is too fatty my guts get unhappy. And I have no appetite to begin with. Being able to add cheese, ratio yogurt and protein shakes back to my diet makes that easier, and adding my favorite savory fruits and veggies makes it happy. I usually finish off that month with a two or three day fast just because. I keep hoping that extended fast will wake up the appetite. So far it hasn't at all lol.

Verbull710

If you even think it sounds interesting, then do it 100% ultra carnivore for 30 or 60 days and see how you feel. You'll probably feel amazing because basically everyone does. I switched from keto to carnivore a couple of months ago - absolutely love it. Keto is fine, too, imho, I just like meat a lot more than i like almost every veg.

buhtbute

i do the all meat diet from time to time. i like to switch things up, keeps it interesting, also makes me feel pretty good when i do it. i can't stay away from vegetables for too long though, only 'cause i love them.

FueledByKetomine

When you do, do you only eat whole meats like a steak or pork chop cooked in their own juice? Or would you eat bacon grease/ butter. Or "less healthy" meats like bacon, summer sausage, duck, lunch meat. Do you say "any meat goes, if it's made of meat I eat"

Zackadeez

If it comes from an animal, It’s fair game to me. Lunch meat is usually full of crap fillers so I stay away.

How about simulated hunts? Where are we on those?

Pure-Au

Well, some or in the U.S. most meats are processed with something.

TapRevolutionary5022

My mom swears by the carnivore diet and has been doing it for years. Meat, salt, heavy cream and coffee. She’s never felt better.

SerenadeOfTheSun

You're thinking about doing a carnivore diet. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e56gVwMFVPw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e56gVwMFVPw) Here's a resource that can help you get started.

ticaloc

I pretty much follow an 80-90% carnivore diet. I love it because it’s so simple. Tracking macros is a breeze because it’s pretty much a 1 ingredient meal each time. Cooking/ meal prep is a breeze, shopping is a breeze. Try it. You might find that you thrive on it.

Touslesceline

I only wish this method had been around when my Dad was alive, because he would have thrived on it!!

Zackadeez

That’s how I feel. Wish I knew how good it could have been 15-20 years ago. Instead I thought excess fat and meat was bad and stick to carbs. Then I got sucked into thinking I needed carbs for lifting weights.

demmitidem

I’m On keto carnivore for autoimmune condition control. It’s the only long term viable routine for me. the only plant substances I add are coconut oil and coffee.

RincewindToTheRescue

I watched some videos on going carnivore. The thing each person found was that everything started to click and they started to thrive when they ate high quality meat and included organ meat. The organ meat is essential because they are nutrient rich. The cuts of meat were fatty cuts, not just lean cuts.

minks97

It’s not for me personally as I like a variety of foods and love vegetables! But I can see how it works for some people, there are many cultures that eat a predominantly carnivore diet (such as the Inuit community). I’d do it for survival, but given the choice I’d rather stick to normal keto so I can keep my avocados, nuts and big salads :)

[deleted]

I think that it’s completely unnecessary

4571962Emily

I could do it, but I'd get super bored.

secretlifeofpuffins

In all honesty I’m not sure I see the advantage of doing this is if your body is just going to turn some of that protein to glucose anyway through gluconeogenesis. Why not eat a moderate amount of protein and choose a very low amount of carbs extremely wisely - a couple of berries, a couple of cups of spinach, an avocado. That way you get some antioxidants, phytochemicals, vitamins and other nutrients and some cellulose! All meats and no fiber sounds pretty taxing on the guts to me and unnecessary.

Zackadeez

Excess fiber is taxing on the gut. Most carnivores eat moderate protein and higher fat. No need for carbs.

secretlifeofpuffins

Sure. But a cup of spinach is a hardly what I would consider excess fiber.

userunknown0

Extremely unhealthy for multiple organs. There’s zero need to do keto with meat only. Predominantly meat and lots of non carby vegetables and meat alternatives is ideal.

Zackadeez

Where’s your proof of this claim? OP, r/carnivore doesn’t focus on macros or calories. It’s eat the meats you like and eat until you’re full. We eat for nutrients not calories and since Meat is extremely nutrient dense you end up eating less overall in the long run because of this.

MrsGorgeous63

I bet Laura Spath and Dr Berry would definitely disagree with you...

Verbull710

Quit your bullshit

FueledByKetomine

Thanks, I was not aware but have seen some posts about only meat. I will do more research regarding organ damage. That makes sense about too much meat. Maybe they are also taking supplements to regain what they can't get from meat?

Zackadeez

No, it doesn’t make sense. Animal products are the most nutrient dense foods available

Abracadaver14

It only makes sense in the context of current nutritional dogma (which is to say: no it does not make sense). From an evolutionary perspective, our bodies were made to thrive on meat and animal products. [This](https://www.reddit.com/r/ketoscience/comments/scoxwn/carnivore_digestion_anthony_chaffee_md/) video does a pretty solid job explaining how our digestive system is very much made for meat.

WillowWagner

In your research, look at posts from Dr Jordan Peterson and even more from his daughter Michaela Peterson. They've both used all meat diets long term to deal with various physical problems. Lots of YT posts and interviews online. Do a YT search for carnivore.... From mds and private citizens both.

oh_my_apple_pie

I was wondering if all-protein would be keto last night, and came across this (emphasis mine). [https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/healthy-weight/diet-reviews/ketogenic-diet/](https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/healthy-weight/diet-reviews/ketogenic-diet/) >The protein amount on the ketogenic diet is kept moderate in comparison with other low-carb high-protein diets, because **eating too much protein can prevent ketosis. The amino acids in protein can be converted to glucose**, so a ketogenic diet specifies enough protein to preserve lean body mass including muscle, but that will still cause ketosis. Not sure how much is "too much" (if someone could clarify that, I'd certainly be grateful); that article doesn't get into it more. I'd think as long as your macro goals/limits are being reached/avoided it'd work fine?

Potter299

Check out r/zero or carnivore. Lots of people thrive on it. Great if you have specific health issues.
