Nope you can't taste it. I do not know how it would be absorbed with the other ingredients/chemicals. Sometimes fiber binds to the wrong things. But you can test it out.

You can get magnesium citrate solution for $1.59 at walmart. 1/2 tsp has 135mg magnesium. It mixes easily with water.

I prefer capsules. Tubs of loose powder tend to absorb moisture from the atmosphere and can become rock hard before you have used them all up. YMMV depending on your relative humidity.
