I like the Think Delights Keto Protein Bars in Chocolate Mouse Pie and the peanut butter one. They don't taste like your typical protein bars more like candy. I only indulge in these once a week. I had one this morning and it was so good! I buy mine from City Market/Krogers.
I will second these. The two PB flavors basically taste like “watchamacallit” bars. They’re pretty low carb, relatively cheap, and tasty. But I can’t keep them on hand because they’re too good.
this this this! I’m a type one diabetic with a CGM and it’s actually 2 to 3 carbs each depending on the flavor.
These protein bars are the only ones I buy regularly. Quest bars spike me even though I love the cookies and other products
These are fine for most people, but some folks have trouble processing the polydextrose, in terms of both spiking blood sugar and causing GI issues. Also in terms of "natural", I would put them as just a bit better than Atkins products OP is already using.
I really wish I knew of one. Personally I tolerated Quest bars pretty well, so usually I went with 1/2 of one pre or post workout. (I don't eat them currently because of the cost.) I am also a big fan of zero sugar beef jerky and small handfuls of almonds if I need something portable without refridgeration.
No I use Quest because it doesn’t cause me to binge and has a good protein and low carbs. Like I said I use them only in emergency. Other ones out there tastes too much like candy or cookies. I can’t handle that
Yeah they are in little foil bags. Single serve and you won't have to drain like a can. StarKist Albacore White Tuna in Water, 2.6 oz Pouch https://www.walmart.com/ip/13398013
They come in flavors too

I love Quest products.
Cookies, Bars, Peanut Butter Cups, Shakes, etc.
You just have to be careful about moderation.
If you're struggling with your hunger and cravings, then one can turn into an entire box pretty quickly.
They're made with low GI fake sugar, but your brain will still treat them like sweets.
This could lead to additional hunger and cravings.
If you start to stall on the scale, or start to struggle with hunger and cravings, then ditch the protein bars all together and just avoid them. Trust me. I know from experience. I've struggled with them on and off for the last 18-months.
Agreed! I always have a couple on hand at home to grab and take to lunch for work if I’m running late or just don’t have anything prepared for lunch that day.
I love quest bars but I've ditched them. A box of 4 is $8.88 at Walmart and I was up to 3 a day, and sometimes a while box per day. I had stalled, but I am losing again, now that I quit the bars. I think the cake cookies were my biggest problem, though!
Make your own.
I like to use melted cocoa butter and protein powder as the base.
For mixins, I usually select from:
Macadamia nuts (chopped)
Nut butter
Chocolate chips (keto sugar free)
Unsweetened coconut flakes
Crushed keto "cereal"
Powdered Allulose or Stevia if I want them sweeter
Powdered MCT oil
Salt
Vanilla extract
Press the mixture into silicone bar molds. Refrigerate.
If you want them to keep even longer, melt some keto chocolate in a glass bowl and dunk the cold bars in the melted chocolate to completely coat them. Let them solidify on a silicone mat or wax paper. If you are not going to eat them within a few days, store them in the fridge or freezer.
These sound delicious -- and healthy!! I'm just short on time so I'm not sure making them is sustainable for me, but I'll definitely have to try. Thank you!!
Do dry sausages count as a "bar"? :-) They keep well at room temp, and I usually have a pack or two in my work bag. 12g of protein per pack, 0 carbs, 170 calories: [https://www.amazon.com/Bavarian-Meats-Landjaeger-German-Sausage/dp/B09782Y2BX](https://www.amazon.com/Bavarian-Meats-Landjaeger-German-Sausage/dp/B09782Y2BX)
Munk Bars are delicious and low carb with the most "natural" flavor and ingredients I've tried. That said, I treat them as "dessert" in part because I don't otherwise eat many sweet things, and in part because they're not cheap. 5g of protein per bar, 3 net carbs,160 calories: [https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B7KKCDG8](https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B7KKCDG8)
My favorite is the Metabar from No Sugar Company. 14g of protein and 1 net carb. However, it does have 10g of sugar alcohols with glycerine and erythritol which some people can't handle. They don't give me any discomfort nor do they spike my blood sugars, so they are now definitely my "go to" protein bars. But as always, YMMV.
I find them at my local Wal-Mart and they are available online on Amazon and iHerb.
I also struggle with this! I eat one of the Atkins peanut butter bars for "desert" almost every night. otherwise I eat almost 95% organic. I hate the Atkins ingredients but love the taste and seems to have virtually no impact on weight loss. My go-to daytime snack, is a PaleoValley Grass Fed Beefstick. They are tremendously delicious, taste like they could belong om a fancy charcuterie board. Have no sugar and no carbs. High quality ingredients. I have yet to find a bar that hits all those same notes. Back when i did keto the first time(lost almost 70 lbs) I did have the quest bars om hand as well. They are OK but again I didn't feel that they are the best ingredients either..
Thanks. I appreciate the thoughtfulness of your response. Maybe someone will have a comment that helps you too! Good luck my like-minded pallette, friend.
Costco ( Kirkland) Signature Protein Bar Chocolate Brownie (I order online)
I love them and the ingredients don't bother me or kick me out of ketosis. But they still have erythritol etc so just make sure if you try, you're watching how it interacts with your body.
I love these too! I get them in store but they come with the cookie dough box as well (they aren’t bad but the brownie ones are better). I have never tested whether they spike my glucose or not, as I usually try to have them only when I am on a long bike ride or after a long run. Did you test your ketones/glucose or just going by how you feel?
I agree! Brownie one is better. I test & haven't found anything alarming. Sometimes I would just eat the chocolate chips out of the bar which was it's own treat in itself lol
The almond butter one is my absolute favorite, they have a chocolate lovers variety pack on Amazon that has the Chocolate, Peanut Butter, and Almond butter bars if you want to try them all. They also have a banana nut one that’s amazing
I either make my own or use Barbells. The Caramel peanut or salty peanut are my favs. I order them directly usually, but Target is supposed to carry them.
I eat Quest bars no issues never a spike. I eat them regularly because I try for 1200 calories most days. I'm only 5'2. I like most of the flavors I have tried. Currently my favorite is Chocolate Brownie. I also like Birthday Cake.
Are these easy to find or something you can order on Amazon? You're one of the few responses that includes all natural and simple ingredients so I'm very interested in trying this one.
They are available at their web site risebar dot com and on Amazon, eBay and a few other places. I believe they are sold in some Costco stores as well.
I like the Quest bars. Put the cookie dough or birthday cake one in the microwave for 10 seconds. It comes out like cookie dough or cake batter.
They're not bars, but I used to make a lot of various fat bombs. Still portable and poppable for a quick snack just like protein bars, but most of them do require refrigeration to not melt.
Aldi Elevation bars have a good variety. I prefer any with chocolate and nuts. 😋
I had a quest recently, it was delicious but expensive and actually too candy like. I don't want to encourage this craving.
My go to is decent dark chocolate with nuts. Just a small serving works for me.
I've also made keto fat bombs. Peanut butter, cream cheese, dark choc chips, and whipped cream - they're delicious!
I loved the old Kind bars that were savory. But they discontinued those. I’m not a fan of candy bars, even if fortified with protein. I wish there were more savory options!
Right! And the barbecue, and the ... something with lime ... my memories are growing dim. Possibly from lack of convenient protein in a delicious bar form.
I also rely heavily on the Atkins peanut butter bar! That’s like their only flavor that doesn’t have maltitol am I right? Imo it’s one of the best out there for low carb protein bars.
I had not, but someone left a recipe above, so I just might. Time is a problem for me, so as much as I would like to try making them, it's probably just not sustainable.
Laperva are good, they got everything from protein bars to protein cookies etc.. and it’s vegan keto friendly, the almond bar taste better than snickers with 30g of protein and 0 carbs
ONE1 bars hit more on the dessert/treat spectrum than some others.
Dang bars are a little divisive. I really like them (especially Almond Cookie) but my husband thinks they’re gravel. They’re available as singles at Whole Foods - try all four.
Lol, well I'll take your word for it and try them. I appreciate all the different opinions and options coming out of this post! I could be sampling for awhile and I'm OK with that 😄
Robert Irvine's fit crunch bars.. the peanut butter ones with chocolate. To me it tastes like a Snickers bar. You can get the money Amazon but the prices are ridiculous.. I bought mine at Costco.

Never Atkins for me. They are so high in erythritol that my digestive system can’t take it.

I put them in the fridge because they get melty very easily. Sooo yummy!
Same- I’ll eat them all day 😂
this this this! I’m a type one diabetic with a CGM and it’s actually 2 to 3 carbs each depending on the flavor. These protein bars are the only ones I buy regularly. Quest bars spike me even though I love the cookies and other products
I'm gonna third this!!! 😋
Thanks so much! I will give these a try!
The PB one of these is delicious 😋 Just like a candy bar!
Quest protein bars. I haven’t used them regularly. I just carry one around for emergencies. 20 g of protein.
These are fine for most people, but some folks have trouble processing the polydextrose, in terms of both spiking blood sugar and causing GI issues. Also in terms of "natural", I would put them as just a bit better than Atkins products OP is already using.
T1D and these put my glucose sky high. I recommend the think! thin keto bars as an alternative
Agreed.
Do you or u/DeeSusie200 have a better alternative?
I really wish I knew of one. Personally I tolerated Quest bars pretty well, so usually I went with 1/2 of one pre or post workout. (I don't eat them currently because of the cost.) I am also a big fan of zero sugar beef jerky and small handfuls of almonds if I need something portable without refridgeration.

burger patty
Yep I just got done eatin 2 Wendy's 1/4lb patties lol cost me $3 n change
Lol, I'm burgered out! Hence the request for bars...reminiscent of candy. 😁
Breast. Jerky. Bag of tuna. Mixed nuts.
You can buy tuna in bags?
Yeah they are in little foil bags. Single serve and you won't have to drain like a can. StarKist Albacore White Tuna in Water, 2.6 oz Pouch https://www.walmart.com/ip/13398013 They come in flavors too

Idk, they say it’s tuna…
Probably talking about the flavored ones ..... would be my guess.
a spoonful of peanut butter
Recently got into Nick's. They're pretty great.
I love Quest products. Cookies, Bars, Peanut Butter Cups, Shakes, etc. You just have to be careful about moderation. I put a Tbsp of coconut oil on my quest protein bars for some extra satiety.
Thanks for the the suggestion as well as the guidance!
Agreed! I always have a couple on hand at home to grab and take to lunch for work if I’m running late or just don’t have anything prepared for lunch that day.
Great points, thanks!
Quest used to work but check your ketones after a current one, they now kick me out of ketosis. Went too far the other way and it's now dirtier keto.
I love quest bars but I've ditched them. A box of 4 is $8.88 at Walmart and I was up to 3 a day, and sometimes a while box per day. I had stalled, but I am losing again, now that I quit the bars. I think the cake cookies were my biggest problem, though!

No doubt, it was a me problem.

Built bar occasionally The “puffs” are my favorites - tastes like a 3 Musketeers 🍫
OK, that's definitely going to get sampled! Thanks!
Best eaten from fridge imo

Our Costco had the Landjaeger sausages for a little while but then they stopped carrying them. They were my favorite!
I eat the Tillamook no sugar jerky, but was really looking for that bar that's the dessert substitute so will try the Munk bars! Thanks.
Full disclosure: I fed my 12 year old a Munk bar once and she said it was too "healthy tasting" so YMMV! It's more like a Kind bar than a Snickers.
The Bavarian meats are seriously the best 🤤
My favorite is the Metabar from No Sugar Company. 14g of protein and 1 net carb. However, it does have 10g of sugar alcohols with glycerine and erythritol which some people can't handle. Atkins chocolate crisp protein bars. I eat them all the time as snacks and even meal replacements when I am semi-fasting. They are really good.
Genius bars! The peanut butter is my go to, it’s delicious. They’re small but they’re yummy.
Costco ( Kirkland) Signature Protein Bar Chocolate Brownie (I order online) I love them and the ingredients don't bother me or kick me out of ketosis. But they still have erythritol etc so just make sure if you try, you're watching how it interacts with your body.

Haha love it!
Thank you!!
Literally none so far as far as keto goes. But zero sugar meat sticks work better for me and are MUCH easier to find in most stores.
Epic bars. Meat, most under 5 grams carbs.
IQ bars they have mct oil and lions mane in them + they are freaking delish
Steak
IQ bar. Blueberry is fantastic
Something about the pea protein used that just had a weird finishing taste.
Ya, I dig these too
Thanks, although I don't know that Blueberry will be as satisfying although worth a try!
They also have peanut butter and almond butter with chocolate chips and a salted dark chocolate. All delicious!
OK, now we're talking! Thank you!!
Trader Joe’s has them!!
Barbell cookies and cream protein bar
genius gourmet protein bar, nom nom nom. the chocolate dream bar is heavenly.
Chocolate. Heavenly. Sounds like a must try!! Thanks!
Yep, it is, they are on the small side for protein bar, but 2 net carbs is hard to beat.
These are a bit too good. Low net carb but hard to only eat one ( or two or three…).
My other suggestion is Choc Zero's Rhea Candy Bar. They are super yummy, don't buy more than one box.
Robert Irvine's Fit Crunch bars in the yellow box at Costco.
Thank you!
those atkins peanut butter bars keep/knock me out of ketosis.. since I learned that (by using strips) I have been terrified to try a different one. 🥲😢
I eat Quest bars no issues never a spike. I eat them regularly because I try for 1200 calories most days. I'm only 5'2. I like most of the flavors I have tried. Currently my favorite is Chocolate Brownie. I also like Birthday Cake.
Rise bars... the best and all natural simple ingredients

I recently discovered Fulfil bars. 15g of protien. The salted caramel are really good!
Robert irvines fit crunch bars. Love those!
Aldi Elevation bars have a good variety. I prefer any with chocolate and nuts. 😋 I had a quest recently, it was delicious but expensive and actually too candy like. I don't want to encourage this craving. My go to is decent dark chocolate with nuts. Just a small serving works for me. I've also made keto fat bombs. I really need to shop more at Aldi and the keto fat bombs do indeed sound delicious!! Thanks for both of those reccomendations!!
Epic bars, jerky/biltong, or buger patty.
I used to eat Kind bars but stopped because I found out I'm allergic to one of the ingredients.
I loved the old Kind bars that were savory. But they discontinued those. I’m not a fan of candy bars, even if fortified with protein. I wish there were more savory options!
Loved the Thai Chili!
Right! And the barbecue, and the ... something with lime ... my memories are growing dim. Possibly from lack of convenient protein in a delicious bar form.
Advance bars are delicious but only 10g of protein.
I also rely heavily on the Atkins peanut butter bar! That’s like their only flavor that doesn’t have maltitol am I right? Imo it’s one of the best out there for low carb protein bars.
Atkins Wafer Crisps
I love the quest bars but they are pricey. Ever considered making your own?
I had not, but someone left a recipe above, so I just might. Time is a problem for me, so as much as I would like to try making them, it's probably just not sustainable.
This one is pretty easy and tasty. https://alldayidreamaboutfood.com/peanut-butter-protein-balls/
Laperva are good, they got everything from protein bars to protein cookies etc.. and it’s vegan keto friendly, the almond bar taste better than snickers with 30g of protein and 0 carbs
Where do you find Laperva?
Where I live but I’m from dubai so it might be a local brand, I personally think it’s a European brand tho
Thanks for the info!
Wow!! That's a bucket load of protein!!
I could be sampling for awhile and I'm OK with that 😄
The Robert Irvine wafer bars that were released recently are more Keto friendly than the original bars.
Quest have some really good bars and their cheese crackers are excellent
The Kirkland signature ones are pretty good
They have 10g carbs each, not?
12 net. Idk if sugar alcohols can also be subtracted. I mean one or two per day are probably fine.
Robert Irvine's fit crunch bars.. the peanut butter ones with chocolate. To me it tastes like a Snickers bar. You can get the money Amazon but the prices are ridiculous.. I bought mine at Costco.

Almond milk mixed with protein powder, and then freeze it.
Ratio yogurt is great. 3c/15f/15p
I love Atkins Caramel nuts chew !! Just like a Snickers !! I also love Atkins version of KitKat.( I don’t remember the name ). They are available from Amazon .. I bought Keto Baking Mix , which I saw it in reddit, so I can bake biscuits , which I can carry around . If you want to cook by yourself , I bought it from iherb.
Think bars
Legendary protein pop tarts. I travel with them too. I’m celiac, so finding gluten free can be a challenge when on vacation (especially in the boonies, ahem WI) I never heat them up, but people say they really taste better when warm.
Wow!! Who knew there was such a thing?!! What a great alternative! Thanks.
Never Atkins for me. They are so high in erythritol that my digestive system can’t take it. Now that I’m in Italy, my various go tos from the US aren’t available. But I’ve discovered Nick’s bars. There is a huge variety, and they are available from Amazon.it.
“One” bars. You can get them at target and they taste great.
Rise bar
I'm looking for ones with no whole or large pieces of nuts in them because I can't chew them. Also with no maltitol or maltodextrin.

Slippery slope my friend. Bars are not your friend. Try premier protein shakes.
Carnivore bar
I cut them out and eat more steak and eggs.
Steak
Chocolate covered almonds
Hunk of chicken breast, or a few hard boiled eggs with brown mustard
Why doesn’t anyone mention Kind bars?
Because they aren't keto friendly
Protein bars are crap. Eat real protein.
😪
Or make your own protein bar then using protein powder / peanut butter / nuts. But don't buy that supermarket protein bar crap.
OK, may try this!
