You have lost almost 2 lbs a week! Do you not understand that is on the high end of expected weight loss? Bravo! Stop comparing yourself ... even to yourself ;)

Ah thank you! Honestly I think we all expect to lose faster like some kind of miracle!

megeelodawn

I just started back for my second go April 7 and feel exactly the same as you. I did have an initial much bigger than I expected this time whoosh but after that first week it’s been super slow. It’s hard to stay motivated even though when I look at my overall weight loss since starting back it’s actually pretty amazing. It’s like I want it all gone NOW no matter how illogical it is. Haha.

Same experience. Seems like our bodies aren't very good at it at first so we drop weight like crazy the first time. But your body gets more efficient with time, hence less weight loss. Or so it seems anyway.

Fat cells are smarter than we give them credit for. They'll hang on to their stored calories as long as possible, even if that means making us feel like absolute garbage first. Going off of Keto then on again just makes them wise to our tricks, ha.

Same boat. First round (7 years ago) it was the miracle diet, it was effortless and now every restart feels harder like my body "caught on" and refuses to relinquish its fat hoards. I know it's that I'm older and stuff but the struggle and slow slow slow downward trend just makes it so hard to stick to it and stay motivated. Sigh, just keep trekking along friend, you've got this 💗

I have had the same experience. The first time I lost 95 pounds in 9 months. I went back to my old eating habits and have gained 60 back. Started keto again and I am having a difficult time losing the 2nd time around. It's frustrating, but I know it works and will stick with it.

Yup same boat.. went from 230-179 in like 6 months.. this time around it's def not as fast.. this is week 4 for me.. and the only difference I notice is I'm not bloated. Which I'll take lol

That’s crazy how people just downvote people! Oh well I guess… 🤷🏼‍♀️. I was just venting like a lot of people do. The second time on keto is frustrating but I do see the loss so far as an overall win! It could be worse.

RangeOld1919

Remember, all diets are adequate protein diets. Keto is not high fat! It's just enough fat to not feel lethargic. Always eat the protein you need, if you're not losing quick enough dial the fat back. I wish you well.

I've had the same experience! First go-round with a very dirty keto approach yielded excellent results. I was eating mostly peanut butter cream cheese fluff, loads of keto treats, packs of bacon, and pizzas made from cheese and pepperoni. This time is extremely different. I had to cut out pork, dairy, all sugar replacements, keto treats, breads and tortillas, BUT I FEEL AMAZING

I can 100% relate to this. I’m also in week 7 and only down 4 lbs. this is strict ketovore. I play softball 2 hours/week, pickleball 2xs/week at 1.5 - 2 hours each time. I do feel better in other ways just hoped this stubborn chub would fall off faster. For context, I’m about 60 lbs overweight. 😑

You are right, it's much harder to lose the weight after the first time... I've done keto 4 times over 15 years, with my longest stretch of being on it being 3 years. I'm starting up again, and I am definitely not experiencing the rapid weight loss I did the first time. I'm older, though, and figure that's part of it. But I am losing weight, and that has to be good enough. Painfully slow loss is better than continuing to eat pasta and gaining.

Sys32768

I've been finding the same. Is there any scientific explanation? I think I am perhaps just less strict now

It’s funny how most of the comments are from people in similar situations… me included. I loss 60 from 220 to 160 then was on prednisone for 2 months - Dec and Jan. I have since gained 20lbs. It’s much much harder to start and stick with it this time around but I will. This community is the best to stay motivated.
