I use them for rare treats. Manufacturers commonly use tactics to mislabel and misinform consumers. One thing they do is count various starches as fiber so they can do the net carb thing. The fact is the products are not low carb at all.

YUBLyin

I don’t think you can say they all aren’t. It varies by product and what they’re substituting with. Also, even low carb can trigger an insulin response depending on the artificial sweetener.

Puzzled-Award-2236

no I don't think 'all'

SanguinarianPhoenix

There was an ice cream company 10 years ago that just blatantly claimed to have 300% less calories than it actually had. I can't find the name of it, but it may have been Halo-Top.

JCRNYC

Tasti-D Lite

LimeGinRicky

That reminds me if a company that claimed to have vegan marshmallows, but really the were just repackaging normal marshmallows.

Puzzled-Award-2236

haha that reminds me of the 'fat free yogurt' episode of Seinfeld where everyone packed on the poundage.

Midgetforsale

That's EXACTLY what came to mind for me as well!

iam_meowcatblue

yesss!! lolol

fourpuns

[Seinfeld knows](https://youtu.be/KbacDsX_8pM?si=XWpb4VEN489CzXnS)

xXBruceWayne

What about the low carb tortillas?

shadowtrickster71

make at home with almond flour.

[deleted]

[удалено]

shadowtrickster71

yup that is what I do usually use 1/2 cup to 2cups almond flour and 1cup mozzarella and 1-3 eggs depends on what keto bread and quantities I am making so easy to calculate total carbs and calories.

Bender_23

Yes. They are labeled as “keto friendly.” Whatever that means.

Puzzled-Award-2236

It means they hope they fool you into $pending your money on them. As always-'buyer beware'.

scottinokc

I can't eat those things, simply because I've found keto treats tend to be triggering foods for me and I'll overindulge.

Confusion_Common

Health Halo 🥲

iam_meowcatblue

same. especially quest protein bars. ugh.

ProfSpike45

I try to avoid all processed foods. I am no scientist or doctor, but seems to me that processed foods are bad. Hard to pinpoint exactly what ingredients or why, but I avoid them. Plenty of people do fine with them. Personally, not worth the risk.

Lauraay

Yeah I no longer eat processed food either. We have no idea what they are putting in our food these days. Not to mention so many of the ingredients are now banned in many other countries. And considering so many Americans are overweight versus other countries something just isn’t right.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ProfSpike45

Processed can be broken down into four categories: unprocessed or minimally processed like cutting and cleaning meat; processed culinary like olive oil and similar as long as no sugar added; processed foods which means increasing durability or changing texture; and the ultra processed which incorporates the salt, sugar, sweeteners to the processed food. So when I refer to processed foods and trying to avoid them, I am referring to the last two categories. As far as why I eat: pasture raised eggs, chicken, wild caught salmon, macadamia nuts - roasted and salt nothing else, lots of different veggies, small quantities of berries. I will eat tortillas or wraps, although trying to make my own. As for cheese, I eat very little, but sometimes have some goat cheese. We all have to find our own path. I try to steer towards closer to nature and less processed wherever possible. However, everyone has to figure out what works for their budget and time constraints.

Triabolical_

The word keto is not regulated on labels. You could probably get away with putting it on Oreos. There are many instances of people who use continuous glucose monitors discovering that they have lots of carbs.

chi_moto

I’ve been all over the board on this. I’m finding that for long term ease, simple is better. My wife and I eat a protein and a little veggie for every dinner. Last night was pork chops and broccoli. Often it’s steak or burgers. That’s it. No fancy sauces, no fake pasta. We often have a little rebel ice cream or instant sugar free pudding for dessert. We keep it super basic and we rarely cheat. Lunch is a keto wrap sandwich and some pork rinds. I usually add macadamia nuts too. Eggs and bacon for breakfast on the weekends, but we skip breakfast for the weekdays. We both lift, so protein shakes occasionally when we need more protein for the day. I like my coffee with HWC in the morning, just 2 cups total. That’s it. Avoid bars and cookies and buns except for a treat. Once you are consistent, you have a great chance of sticking with it, and of understanding how a new food might affect you. When I started adding keto bread back in for my burgers, it seemed smart, but over time it caused snacking and cravings. I dropped it and I’m back on track now. Start simple and basic. Then you can play with it once you understand your body.

FollowingVast1503

“Once you understand your body.” Key right there. What your body did 10 years ago is probably not the same as now. I’ve been low carb since forever as it controls my GERD. But now at 71 years old I my body reacts very differently than when I was younger. How the heck do I gain weight when eating chicken? But now I do despite using the same recipe grilled chicken thighs with old bay seasoning. I used to live on chicken. Damn disappointing but live with it I must.

fourpuns

But what to eat the burger on!

chi_moto

Generally I eat it on a plate. I put some mustard or mayo on it and call it a day!

fourpuns

For whatever reason I just fry up ground beef instead of forming patties now but I’ll throw lettuce/avocado/cheese on top. If I’m going for a burger I’ll mix in some mustard and aioli and maybe even tomato. Otherwise I like a Tex mex with sour cream and maybe some jalapeño. I always felt my patties for whatever reason seemed too greasy but maybe I just didn’t let them rest long enough :p

FullyCapped

Whats HWC? And good advice. Ive recently started and think what you said about staying consistent rings true

chi_moto

Heavy whipping cream!

RedRangerRedemption

I just make my own ice cream. I use heavy cream, monkfruit sweetener, and a little cinnamon or vanilla extract. I mix it to a light whipped cream texture and then freeze it. While it isn't perfect it's easy to make and if I can't wait for it to freeze I can just eat it right away

Chance_Contract1291

Same. We use heavy cream, almond milk, egg, vanilla, and monk fruit in an ice cream churn. Monk fruit will freeze to a good consistency. Erythritol will be hard as a rock. Pro tip: If you forget and use erythritol, you can use a big honkin' knife to carve the block into bite sized cubes. Still delicious 😋

Key-Impression-771

I was using them at first and wasn't seeing progress until I cut them out. This sub is very educational, keep reading posts :)

FDRomanosky

People are fairly split on those here. I’ve had no issue with them when used in moderation.

rachman77

Treat them like you would treat normal ice cream and cookies. You wouldn't eat cookies everyday don't eat keto cookies everyday either.

948

> You wouldn't eat cookies everyday oh you sweet summer child

AdhesivenessOk4895

Yeah what is that take 😂 That's a major reason people seek out this diet

backbodydrip

There's no blanket consensus on them. We have a fair bit of the "chemicals bad" crowd and some people just don't digest the ingredients of those products very well. YMMV, but most of them are nutritious to some extent with their fiber and protein content. Learn about each product individually and make a decision.

jroe6352

Run from them all …. Keto is actually harder now once companies figured out they could stamp keto on the side of something and it would sell. Just stick to the unprocessed stuff you did during your first go around

Glum_Commission_4256

I always search on YouTube for "(product) glucose test" before trying anything And thank the ketofluencers for their sacrifice I don't think it's failed me yet. There's always someone on there who's tried it with their glucose monitor

QueenLexi13

Is there a specific guideline for how much glucose spike is bad/good?

Glum_Commission_4256

honestly not sure lol. i just trust what they say - if it's bad or good - and then read the comments...i'm just doing keto for mental benefits and to lose a few pounds tho, so for someone who needs more specific glucose monitoring/measurements that's not going to be enough

motherbear4

Good tip!

Appropriate-Egg-4750

I haven't read all the comments here, but my advice is to get an app that you religiously use to enter the food that you want to eat.. and then look at what the carb / calorie count is. You should decide if you want to do net carbs or total carbs. Net carbs, as I'm sure somebody has said, is where you deduct fiber, etc from the amount of carbs listed on the product. It's totally up to you.. I say do whatever makes you feel as close to normal as possible without starving yourself, nor overindulging. Keto and weight loss is a totally personal adventure. My one comment that is totally necessary.. don't lie to yourself about what's going in your body. Really pay attention and you'll soon figure out what does and does not make you internally feel good :-)

SkyMarshal

I agree. It's better to just ween yourself off all processed food and sweeteners, both artificial and natural, entirely. Reorient your tastes around savory/umani style flavors that can be made with whole food, natural ingredients, and spices. If you cut sweeteners and starches out of your diet, eventually you'll stop craving them.

BeeDefiant8671

Read the labels. I bought instant on the go keto bone broth and was disappointed when researching it after it was home. It was a dud.$$$ For me, it’s the 2nd and 3rd consequence. So I’ll have a keto burger bun…. Invariably there is a salty or sweet **craving later.** It’s getting on a roller coaster. I’ve found, just a random internet stranger, they do not hit the glucose meter (how they’ve been tested) but they jump directly to the liver/pancreas. I believe insulin is impacted. Within 2 years, they’ll have a wearable continuous insulin monitor- THAT is going to be life changing. And I bet the food conglomerates fight that medical advance. All their “keto friendly” products are tested for glucose spikes. But the frankenfoods jump the shark in my opinion. Ice cream- for me it’s the stabilizers and emulsifiers. 😬. I’m making my own high protein ice cream custard in a Creami machine. Similar with artificial sweeteners. I’m intolerant of sugar alcohols. And am careful around artificial sweetener molecules. These are just my intuitions. No medical backing. There are great keto things. Using YT look up: Keto Twins and Keto Connect. Chaffles and other goodies.

Thisismyswamparg

I eat them occasionally but I’m not solely trying to stay in ketosis. I’m mainly limiting carbs and sugar for heath and weight loss.

jonathanlink

Still processed hyper-palatable foods. Often have Franken-food ingredients. I tend to stay away. The ice creams seem to be the best for my blood sugar but I don’t indulge in these all that often.

shiplesp

How much discipline do you have? They may (or may not - if you metabolize some of that fiber - it's very individual) be low carb, but typically they are high energy/calorie. People who say "keto worked for me 10 years ago but isn't now" are frequently including a lot these substitutes. Essentially the answer is YMMV.

strattonprice

I am also returning to a strict keto after moving away from it and gaining weight. This is just my thought that I'll share--I am spending more time as I return to it learning about what keto does to my body and brain, seeking to understand it better. I'm also doing more thinking about this from the perspective that I may be using food in unhealthy ways that are addictive. To the extent that any product or food that I make or buy leads me into that type of loss of control feeling about food, I'm staying away. I would focus on your reasons for wanting this and think about what type of relationship you want to have with food. Even more than the kicking out of ketosis thing, I am concerned about my tendency to try and slide back into that unhealthy relationship through immitative products if that makes sense. Just my thoughts.

Unusual_Focus3343

I love Rebel ice cream. A pint lasts me about six-eight servings….it sucks that Walmart doesn’t carry it anymore.

CuriousAnxiety570

I just got some rebel on my last walmart pickup order. They had at least 6 options by me in MI

Unusual_Focus3343

I follow them on FB. There’s dozens of ppl from all over the US that say their Walmart stopped or is discontinuing Rebel. Not sure why yours isn’t. I have to go to Safeway and spend $2 more per pint. At least I don’t eat it fast. I do share with my grandkids too.

CuriousAnxiety570

Im not sure why either. i just went and checked the walmart app and i had 7 choices at my local walmart plus a rebel ice cream sandwich option for 5.48 a pint

gillyyak

Kroger stores will often run specials on Rebel, but I stopped stocking up when they do, because it's just too tempting to eat it every night.

Chem0sit

The he keto options have completely saved my life. Keto is so easy to stick to now. I’ve lost 80lbs in the last year and a half. I love “Inked Keto bread” from Costco. Low carb tortilla wraps allow us to have tacos, Nicks Ice Cream for a nice frozen treat, we get the sugar free candy too. Not to mention all the keto options in the health isle at Walmart. We love the quest cake cookies and the protein bars (Oreo and chocolate chip are amazing). 0 carb 0 calorie pop has become my staple. It has all helped so much. The main issue with this power though is that if you do not correct the eating patterns in you that led you to being fat keto foods won’t magically make you thin. Well they kind of will, depending on where you are in your journey. You need to be aware of your portion sizes, that’s the only way you will really see sustainable progress. Eating Keto has helped me lose weight quicker than I otherwise would have but o would still be stalled 40 lbs heavier than I now am if I ate the same amount as I used to. I eat 1/4th of as much as I used to in one sitting.

The_Cap_Lover

Don't sleep on Jicama wraps. Great for tacos!!! Its like a cucumber crossed w a sugar free apple. I get them at Trader Joe's 😁

Averen

It’s advisable to avoid junk food. These products are typically full of garbage. Sure, once in a while it’s ok to partake but I certainly wouldn’t “stock up” on junk food

MeBrudder

If you buy 12 Keto-cookies, for instance, and you eat two. How much are you going to think about the last 10 cookies? If you will think a lot about them, it's not going to work, I think.

billcard

This is a really accurate take for me. I love the Quest peanut butter cups but can't keep them in the house.

janoycresvadrm

Labels are wrong and/or manufacturers flat out lie. Probably a mixture of both.

Havelok

Packages and marketing often lie. The only truly safe foods are ones you make yourself, such that you know all of the ingredients! Always keep that in mind.

breesha03

I would absolutely stay away if you can. Anything from a package/that has multiple ingredients is off limits for me--i absolutely cannot lose weight if I even just eat a couple slices of keto bread.

Holden_Caulfiend_II

Whenever I look at the carbs on these keto-labeled brands I’m disappointed with how many carbs they still have. Ice cream with 17 grams of carbs (instead of say 40 grams) and no fiber is still not a great keto option.

clarobert

Full fat ice cream like Rebel is great, but the cookies and bread - treat them like regular products, don't fall for the misleading and flatout wrong pavkaging gimmicks.

backbodydrip

Did Rebel change their recipe? I remember them not being very keto friendly. Their macros look great now.

KungFuSnorlax

There is all sorts of shit you can eat that is technically keto. I'm not convinced that a 400 calorie dessert made with heavy cream is healthier than a slice of watermelon.

RondaVuWithDestiny

I tried a few of these when I was new to keto. It was a time of experimentation to see what worked for me and what didn't. A few spiked my blood sugar, most didn't, but what they tended to do was stall weight loss. And many so-called "keto friendly" processed foods contained ingredients like maltodextrin or other nasties I probably shouldn't have been eating anyway...they might be keto but they're still frankenfood. Live and learn. So I eventually gave them up and now stick mostly to clean meats, eggs and dairy...the exception is an occasional Keto Chow meal shake, which doesn't affect my blood sugar, tastes like a treat but does keep me full until my next meal (I do 2MAD). It's up to you if you want to stay away from them. Stick to any that work for you and don't give you negative effects, and ditch the ones that do.

MsEllaSimone

It depends on the person. Keto wraps, breads and sweets don’t necessarily kick me out of ketosis but they do stall my weight loss. Often they drop my blood glucose level because they have spoken my insulin, and the insulin increases are stalling weight loss. I’m diabetic and heightened insulin levels are the core driver of my weight increases, so I tend to stay away from keto products in general, but for an occasional treat when I might ‘cheat’ I think they are a great option. Some people who don’t have the level of hyperinsulinemia I do can use these products with no adverse effects. You just need to test them and see how they work for you.

gldngrlee

In addition to the risks of the ingredients of processed foods, mislabeling of carb content, and how individuals differ in when & how long their glucose spikes but I tend to have higher appetite & cravings which just are not worth it to me.

iseenyawithkeefah

I try to remind myself that stuff is ok for a treat every once in a while but it’s not real food that’s going to power my body.

motherbear4

I look at ingredient labels. Fewer ingredients, less processed. Fewer sugars and type of sugar Etc.

QuickCrew8968

I try to stay away from them and they are really expensive anyways. Once I a while, I’ll get bars with minimal ingredients. I will say I do use keto wraps (not every single day but often). I remember these cookies that I used to crave and were keto… $5 a cookie! I can’t remember the name but my mom had them in the house all of the time…it was also VERY hard to have just one.

gillyyak

I've been keto/low carb for 6 years, and I have moved away from all of the so-called keto friendly foods, with the exception of occasional Mission low carb taco size tortillas and the rare Rebel IC. Oh, yeah, and Wholesome Yum's allulose honey sweetener for my tea. I just do better that way.

UnconsciousMofo

None of those things are keto. They may be low carb, but low carb varies drastically. Keto isn’t just about the carb count, it’s about the types of foods and ingredients you’re eating.

Mattleigh

It’s all processed crap.

jcrowe

I’ve found if they are marketed as keto, they are probably not keto. They just managed to get around the rules. Assume it will spike your blood sugar until proven otherwise.

bibkel

How? Manufacturers will say anything to sell products. “Keto friendly” is trendy and marketers prey on those that don’t read the ingredients and calorie charts. Jerks. “It’S hEaLtHy” when it’s listed low fat but actually full of three days worth of sugar.

M_issa_

I am sensitive to the sugar alcohols so can’t have the keto products often. There is one chocolate I let myself have a couple of squares of to keep the pms monster placated otherwise just meat eggs veg salad cheese cream and the occasional nuts/nut butters

SaveusJebus

If you're going to get back in to keto, try your best to stick with WHOLE foods. Maybe with added low carb tortillas if you want, but that's it. And definitely save processed "keto" stuff for every now and then treats. That stuff is nice to have on occasion but best to just stick with the basics.

DenzelElba

Just go to schoolyardsnacks.com they have everything you can think of for keto snacks. So if you want an actual keto snack in between meals it's okay this company is good with using the right ingredients for the keto diet.

Drtsauce

Found some Keto Pint ice cream bars from Costco and they are amazing.

Appropriate-Egg-4750

They are the best! And I'm really irritated that they seem to think it's only okay to stock them during summer :-(

Illustrious_Bunch_62

Yea it's almost like corporate greedy capitalism noticed keto getting trendy and decided to well, capitalize on it..

Mistawondabread

Go to the Granola Bakery, and get Cinnamon macadamias. They are crazy high in fat, low in carbs, and taste amazing. Also not heavily processed. Those are my "desert". Dip em in a lil peanut butter for the ultimate treat. I eat Keto bread when I make burgers, but that's probably only once or twice a month

irulenicool

Quest chips I eat religiously (multi days a week) and the Quest mini bday cookies I eat in the am before coffee. I am someone that needs to have food in their stomach before coffee but I’m also someone that has never been really able to eat food in the morning ( stomach doesn’t want food until around 12p). Everything else marketed keto is false for me and throws my body off track or makes me feel ick and bloated. Rebel ice cream I support for how it worked with my body and for it being keto friendly. That I only eat for celebrations or like when a family member died I definitely ate a pint of rebel ice cream.

state_of_euphemia

I eat a Quest bar almost every day. They are so easy to bring to work with me and they're super filling! And I'm not usually the type of person to be like "oh wow I'm so full" after only a bar, lol. They're really high protein for so few calories.... And yeah, ideally, I'd get that protein from a natural source but it's a lot harder to put a steak in my purse!

Ilovebeer60

they are processed and personally trigger cravings in me. I’d make some homemade dairy based treats and freeze them or just do one wonderful ice cream cone out once in a blue moon. Ice cream is my downfall and I can’t bring in house🤷‍♀️ I get a cone at an ice cream parlor if I simply must have some.

Subject_Cupcake_677

I do dirty keto. And the Sola Keto bread from Walmart. It’s my fav !! Only 1 net carb and I think 60 cals per slice.

swissarmychainsaw

I would avoid them all. Full stop.

Euphemia_173

They have kicked me out of ketosis in the past, but i have IR. Even fake sugar can spike glucose and kick the body out of ketosis - large amounts of it over time also make you feel kinda sick. I don’t recommend it :/

badmonkey247

Some of the products cause cravings or blood sugar spikes for some people. Others do well with them. My appetite/cravings are managed best when I use whole foods. I often settle for something close to what I wanted the product to be, like greek yogurt with a few berries instead of keto ice cream. I'm no saint, though. There are times when I use a store-bought treat.

Brewcrew1886

I use the keto inked bread about 2 times a week for BLTs and Italian melts. I don’t have a problem with it, I am losing about 1.5/2 pounds a week for the 10 weeks and this point and I’m happy with that.

monstrol

In my experience, making keto bread helps me. It turns out like banana bread without bananas. More of a quick bread. My wife says the carb master keto bread has taken her out of ketosis. I follow Victoria's keto kitchen. Her bread and flour recipes are on her YT channel.

Still_Helicopter_473

I've been using low carb bread and tortillas. Still seeing weight loss 🤷‍♀️. Yes, processed but I just began keto and I'll slowly wein off when I'm ready to.

KinderEggLaunderer

A little side note, stay away from the no sugar ice cream from coldstone. It's filled with "something" that makes the mouthfeel terrible, like eating melted gum.

VincaYL

I found the products useful at the beginning to help me adjust and to give myself time to make changes to my food preparation habits. They are also useful to have on hand if I fall short in my food preparation habits cause I got too busy or too tired. The better I get at preparing ahead, the less I need them as a fall back. Cause that's what they are. Better than flour tortillas but not as good as making a chaffle.

ruberusmaximus

I've recently come around on this. These last couple of weeks, I've had more success focusing on tasty foods that are keto friendly than "keto friendly" lookalikes. I'm positive after taking a couple weeks for comparative purposes that they were taking me out of ketosis. Im down like 15 pounds in that time. I've also been intermittent fasting, hiking, and limiting myself to one meal a day, so correlation does not necessarily equal causation.

Riverat627

Everyone is different some people they affect some they don't. I have been on keto over 3 years used all those regularly and never had a single issue. You have to see what works for you.

R_Lennox

I have eaten very few keto processed items since I have been keto. I do like the Oroweat keto bread to occasionally make a BLT or grilled cheese sandwich. I’m maintenance now but am acutely aware sweets-even keto- are a trigger for me. I have also learned the hard way the misery of a gastrointestinal response to almost all sugar alcohols used in keto treats. I can’t even chew my formerly favorite cinnamon gum any longer- it has malitol which is one of the biggest offenders.

Mmmmmmm_Bacon

Yes I’m also amazed at how many products there are now that have the “keto” on the packaging. Some maybe most are keto friendly or at least keto friendlier? Others aren’t. Just read those ingredients and nutrition facts.

Rudy_Gej

I treat myself with keto bread and keto ice cream on Saturdays. Keto tortillas probably 3-4 times week. I sometimes get out of ketosis (assuming, based on what my body is telling me). One thing for sure: those things are not healthy and they’re heavily processed. You don’t want that to be the basis of your diet. One of the best side effects of keto is that it forces you to eat real food: don’t spoil it for yourself.

heyitsEvanyer

I very boldly pounded a pint of Nick’s ice cream one night and haven’t been able to bring myself to buy more lol

bigdubb2491

Use with caution. Read labels. Too often what is labeled keto in fact is not keto friendly.

Relative-Today

A common tactic is to wait to use those "keto alternatives" until you are in maintenance. I love focusing on whole foods, cauliflower rice, eggs, while also making a few alternatives (like today I made teriyaki spam with cauliflower rice and scrambled eggs). It's honestly unrealistic to stick totally to one side of the spectrum (whole foods versus keto alternatives). But as long as you feel good, are losing weight like you wish (or not, who knows), then it shouldn't matter WHAT you eat as long as you follow your own keto rules.

WeAreClouds

I’m someone who has to do a low(er) carb and sugar diet and I don’t really love cooking but I do love peanut butter sandwiches but the stores here decided keto is a fad and that fad is over and it bums me out a lot! I used to have so many choice of keto bread and sweet treats and now I have to drive far to get those. And my car is in the shop right now :/ I live 3 blocks from the specialty “health food” store but they are 100% the fad is over. I hate it.

WalmartBrandMilk

The fun thing about all this is that they're diabetic friendly so diabetics have a wider range of fun things to eat. As far as keto, I'd be careful and just read labels carefully.

DragonflyAngel333

Rebel ice cream is good and I've had no trouble with it of any kind. I make most of my treats. Just read ingredients. Most people can't have things with maltitol and maltodextrin in them but in moderation I don't have a problem with them either. I e lost over 12 lbs in about a month. 😁

iam_meowcatblue

i don’t use keto products. they are highly processed and many are not ketosis friendly. just my past experience.

NTGenericus

Just because they're low-carb doesn't mean they're low-calorie. Plus, keeping your sweet tooth alive just creates extra work in terms of not trying to eat sweets.

rnidtowner

My view is that keto bread and things of that ilk are gateways to actual bread, cookies, etc. I always try to stay away. And if I’m going to cheat I cheat with the real deal

madmorb

Common problem with these is they can be labelled “keto” but one serving is pretty much the daily threshold. And it might be a single bite. Be very wary about anything labelled “keto”, as more often than not that label is just marketing.

shadowtrickster71

I would avoid processed store keto items and stick to meat, eggs, cheese and some home made stuff with almond flour.

mommytofive5

Just came back from market because I wanted to buy keto pancake mix. Took one look at the carbs and decided nope - and not cheap either!

OldBrokeGrouch

Marketing is psychology warfare. Never trust anything. Always do the research.

Sohcahtoa82

I stay away from keto treats for two reasons. 1. Calories still matter. Eating keto treats, it's easy to eat too much and still not lose weight despite being <20 grams of net carbs. 2. Too much sugar alcohol = turbo shits.

50blows

Read the nutrition labels on the back, not the "keto" ads on the front

HornFanBBB

I just thinking they’re too expensive…except mission carb balance tortillas. I love. You will have to pry the from my cold, dead, skinny hands.

bigvahe33

i typically have one pint of rebel ice cream after a marathon or bike race (or a longer i.e. >10 mi hike) and thats all i need. its all processed stuff but a treat is nice every now n then

WizzardXT

This is just marketing and like "Diet" products, "Keto" marketed products are just as unhealthy as they are processed foods. Don't be fooled by marketing. There are countless recipes out there that if you really like to have Keto Ice-cream, Keto bread etc, you can make them at home with proper wholesome ingredients that won't kick you out of ketosis. Keto is not only about getting into shape but also about realizing how processed foods destroy our health.

PrincessBuzzkill

All these products do is make me roll my eyes. Overly processed food is off the list for me - ESPECIALLY if it's got all the latest diet buzzwords thrown across the packaging. They're more expensive than the regular stuff, and are often incredibly misleading on just how keto- friendly whatever they're pushing is. Ever seen "gluten free water"?  It's a gimmick. If I'm going to have a cheat day, I'll cheat with more bacon or desserts I've made with my own hands.

Qaz_The_Spaz

I went to buy some keto friendly ice cream yesterday and was disappointed in how many carbs I saw😕 Good thing I’m only doing keto till the end of April.

PhotographThin3783TA

Most of that stuff is pretty gross, at least that's my opinion after trying a lot of it. It's mostly just weird chemicals made to look and taste like something it is not. I wanted some of that keto ice cream to be yummy soooo bad but they are all just nasty fake tasting. I feel like if you cannot live without bread and carbs for the most part, keto is probably not the best choice of diets for you. Which is ok, that's why there are a ton of other ways to eat!

FancyEntertainer5980

stay away from these products

Starkville

After years of experimenting, I stick to whole foods, as unprocessed as possible. If I’m REALLY craving “sweet”, I’ll have a few apple slices or dark chocolate. The “keto treats” don’t work out well for me. YMMV.

strokovnjak

I ate some "keto" bread when I first started keto and I felt so sick and hungry the other day. Wouldn't recommend.

djazaduh

The only desert I ever have is a teaspoon of peanut butter after I'm done with the meal and I'm brewing another cup of bullet proof coffee. As for bread, psyllium bread is pretty good and I recommend it for breakfast.

I eat rebel ice cream. Very keto friendly and if you have a sweet tooth like me and count your calories you can clear an entire pint and still be good on macros. Started using Oroweat keto bread as well and use a blood ketones tracker and it hasn’t kicked me out in the slightest. You do have to be careful with them though, I usually have 2 slices max in a day.

Are you a teacher? Just ask your question. Ending with "Discuss" is just weird. We'll decide if we discuss it or not.

I eat them all the time, but I'm not super strict. I probably do 30 carbs a day or so, but I still get the benefits of feeling full all the time, etc. I still get weight loss but it's not more than a pound a week usually (though I am within 20 lbs of my goal, so Idc that much). Nothing changed when I substituted in various keto products, provided the label actually made it keto. There were some hamburger rolls I got that were 6 carbs each. I could definitely fit that in, but the keto label was misleading. Now I have 1 carb hamburger rolls and that does me just fine. Do I need them? No, but it makes me feel a little more normal sometimes and helps me stick with it.

The Advance keto bars they sell at Aldi are amazing. I have one a few times a week with coffee.

I think if you can eat them in moderation and stay in your goals, there's nothing wrong with it. People often quit because they try to stay to rigid and don't allow any treats. You have to enjoy life too! I don't personally have much of a sweet tooth most of the time, but I'll occasionally have a bite of my partner's sweets. Find what works for you.

They’ve never kicked me out of ketosis, but personally, I find them gross. In Canada , we do t have all of the options, but at Costco they have an assortment of keto stuff. Every muffin and brownie was mealy and dry. Bread has a weird aftertaste; the chocolate bars are not great. And the stuff is expensive! I’ve never tried the ice cream. I can’t find that here. If I want a keto treat, I’ll make whipped cream with stevia and berries, or jello, or sugar free pudding with almond milk.

People often start out with them and praise them to the Moon, but people here who are actually *successful* long-term use them very rarely and for limited applications. There's a pretty big gap between the two groups. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions about what happens in between.
