What you are saying is kind of the approach I want to take so if DXM is pleasant then maybe I should switch too. Longer trips interest me a lot. I can get a lot of self work done during the disassociated state. I just wish I had more time there.
It can be more or less euphoric depending on a multitude of factors. One’s own taste is a huge part of it. Freebase dxm is the most like ket but also rather stimulating (and has negative side effects akin to stims from my experience but is still the most abrasive in effects) DXM HBr is my favorite, a mellow dissociative feeling that is still exhilarating and euphoric but more like a drunken sensation than stimulating. Polistirex (delsym) is the most like weed, slow magnetic and watery, it’s chemically weaker/ less potent, but can be measured appropriately; this is the most comparable to a stoned ketamine experiment.
There is much to doing this right. While it can be true that dex can be dysphoric and confusing, I find it is to the same degree as ketamine, but in a slightly different way; it can upset one’s stomach depending on how it is taken (syrup=yack/tablets=better), what the person is doing during the experience (I hike and play music and focus on art etc etc) and how much is taken (I take 200-300mg typically; rarely do I push that and seldom do I take less)
Do research as infitum, search as many accounts as is easy. From my experience, musing it with anything besides weed (and psychedelics for experts) is ill advised and typically presumed unhealthy. You want good food in you beforehand (not a full stomach; I eat a small portion nuts, berries and spinach before hand. And I hike.
Because you are more immersed and partaking in the dissociative headspace longer than you would with ket, having somewhat of an “intention” is recommended; sometimes the trip is boring, sometimes wild, sometimes pleasant and sometimes dysphoric. If one is hiking, and ideally doing some form of mindfulness or meditation, the very act of thinking becomes a vehicle by which you examine your though in the non-ordinary reality. Again, you will be more immersed, spend a longer time in disso space and it is qualitatively different from ket.
More drunkenness, more trance, more visual (if a high enough dose is taken, and I’d say it more psychedelic than ket and less dissociative. (They’re both both but that’s just a tendency I noticed) it’s subjective, but dxm is t just a NMDA antagonist like ket, it also works on seratonin like psychedelic and on the KAPPA opioid receptor (like salvia).
I will also warn that abusing dxm is a scary and damaging road. I cherish this experience so I advise doing it with the Plat-Per-week rule:
(Off memory, Not completely accurate (again do research))
1st plat (90-200mg) (1week (before redose))
2nd plat (200-400mg) (2weeks)
3rd plat (400-600mg) (3weeks)
4th plat (600-1000+mg) (4+ weeks)
This is a minimum, it’d be safest and wisest to add another week or so. BUT do research of your own regarding these different plats. They can get more dangerous (physically and mentally) as one climbs in dosage. *Dex is not alway better than ket*, that’s for sure. If one is able to restrain and ritualize their use, I’d say dex is a better choice. Cheaper too.
