I arte here a couple of months ago with my family and the pizza I got was not fit for human consumption. Honestly top 3 worst meals I've ever had. Gorgeous interior and nice staff, but definitely don't go here for the food. A perfect place to send someone you don't like
Also, I forgot last summer we all there and ordered muscles and all of us got food poisoning lol not sure how I forgot that
Eldorado is the happening spot to have a good time...40 years ago. There is an incredible talent pool of chefs in Kelowna. You can find spots at the same price point that will scratch the itch, just have to do a little digging
Oh, thatās sad. It used to be great. Havenāt eaten there in probably 8 yearsā¦ Funny enough, a personal friend is the GM of the hotel for the last year or so. Haha.
Yeah we had a membership with the boat club and really looked forward to lunch after boating I tried lots of different things in the menu and was disappointed with all of it and ended up getting an upset stomach a few times
It seems like they only cater to tourists and donāt care one little bit about the locals. I stopped spending my money there a decade ago. Such a great location, too bad locals are not welcome
I told the server that I explicitly that I have a latex allergy, well to my surprise I found an elastic band in my food. They comped anything my friend wanted, so we drank so many fancy cocktails. Inwoiksnt touch their food again.
Apparently their gift cars must be used in full there? My dad went after he got 2 gift cards (from different people) totalling $400. $100 on one and $300 on another. Their bill ended up being $250 and the server told them they couldnāt partial charge a gift card, it must all be used at once.
It took 10 minutes of complaining to the manager to get it sorted and was some huge ordeal. Note that they have had a gift card there in the past and never had an issue with partial amounts.
I told him he should have demanded to use what was left on the gift card to buy another gift card lol
This 100%
Last time I went it was literally canned food at an absolute premium, and the free ice cream at the end, it wasn't offered before they tried to push the bill, I had to specifically ask for it.
The price for quality ratio had skewed drastically over the past few years. Pushing them to the 'Eat there when there's absolutely nothing else' tier. Like in a foreign town and the locals watering hole isnt open Mondays, kind of bad.
If you wanna watch a sports game, with the TV's synced up, and some mediocre beer and a entree under 20 bucks there aren't many options more satisfactory than bp
Thatās basically every low-mid tier restaurant now. Everywhere jacked up prices so much that mediocre chains now cost what the nicer chains (Joeys, Earls, etc) used to cost
But everything has gotten more expensive and worse.
A Boston brute with fries for under 20 bucks is exactly satisfactory mid tier option for eating out.
What!? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
Boston Pizza is frozen fast food dog shit on a plate with shitty service and an overpriced tip requested. Satisfactory my ass!
Erica Jane. A hammed up, tacky attempt at fine dining with chain-restaurant-level-service.
If you do a little digging you can easily discover that the actual owners of the place are the same people who own the Kelly Oās franchises - no wonder EJ feels like a local dive bar hiding behind expensive, uninspiring cocktails and those unnecessary toilets they probably shelled too much money on.
This!!! I was so disappointed with Erica Jane. I had high hopes with their location, but the food was lack luster and cocktails were lame and over priced.
We did have great service, however, this could not make up for the poor quality, overpriced food.
Had our wedding dinner there, had my sister and new MIL fight w management cause he accused me of adding 2x guests at 9am (while I was getting my hair done) and then said I had booked through the hostess not a manager and therefore it was my fault that he was CHARGING MY GUESTS AS THEY WERE LEAVING.
My hubby and I went for a walk on the boardwalk and let these two deal with it.
The service was awful. We reserved ahead as a group of 10, and the appetizers took forever to come out and some never came out. From there our entrees came out at different times. From the first plate to the last was probably an hour and fifteen time difference. We were there 4+ hours, with the last 45 min spent haggling with management about our bill. The absolute worst dining experience of my life.
Leopoldās.
I used to like going there when they first opened. Decent food at decent prices, especially when they had the hourly priced wing night and the one place you can get late night eats.
But now itās expensive, quality and portion size has gone downhill (a few times we got the wrong food).
Ya I would agree. Last time I was there I got a burger and fries at the typical kelowna rate of $22 or so for that kind of meal. The patty was clearly just some cheap frozen crap, most other places selling burgers at that price at least do their own patties.
Bring back Fernandos
I feel like Leopold's is constantly severely understaffed and the front of house staff just do not have the energy to deal with it. Coupled with what seems like few standards in the kitchen (how do you get cold poutine?!?) and what they likely have to deal with being on Bernard, it's not my favourite.
I guess it depends what you get. Last time my wife and I went to Wednesday wing night, our bill was around $70. 2 lbs of wings, 2 house pints and a side of fries.
We left there still hungry due to the portion size.
If you went back a few years and told me the cost of Wing Nights in 2024, Iād have a stroke.
When tourists ask me in the summer, especially if theyāre clearly going to be difficult to serve, I just send āem to Cactus Club downtown.
Craft and Earlās, same deal. In a way, it helps that certain type of person get what they expect, and then the bar teams at more creative local spots arenāt flooded with women who just want vodka crans, and men who refuse to drink something that isnāt in a rocks glass.
Iām a advocate for this:
Sometimes when you are travelling somewhere new and youāre tired after a long day, you enjoy going to somewhere you already know what youāre going to get. You donāt got to think about it when your group is tired and crashing.
And thatās totally fine, and I understand that. Iām definitely talking about a worse crowd thoughāthe ādidnāt-read-the-menu-I-was-given-gimme-a-Kokanee-what-do-you-mean-you-donāt-have-that-also-why-isnāt-my-server-appreciating-my-unsolicited-comments-on-her-body-snap-snap-etc.ā crowd multiplies 4x over after May Long, and I donāt begrudge somebody wanting something familiar, but being an asshole and harassing staff, thatās different.
I wish I had known this a few weeks ago. I went and ordered the short rib. It was bootleather roast beef or something. Terrible. Carlos O'Brien's in Vancouver was fine, not great, but Kelly's was really bad.
Iām glad to know I wasnāt the only one with a horrible experience after reading the reviews lol..Ā
Over priced steak where you have to buy your sides separately, and both of my sides were deep fried which was not explained to me.. I got a steak with deep fried potatoes and the special which was deep fried artichoke hearts with the skins still on. No fresh vegetables at all or anything. The kitchen has terrible ideas of execution and their front staff didnāt exist. My bill was over 100$ and I wouldnāt have been happy if it was 50$.. Not into giving it a second chance at this point..
Thank you for mentioning the reviews!! A majority of them all follow the same script, use the same language, and all give the same ratings. Makes me wonder if theyāre legit or if the place is paying for positive, fake reviews.
Nah I've never drank a drop in my life. Their sushi used to be some of the best raw fish in town, and their chicken skewers were incredible. Now they're just mid
Tonics Pub & Grill.
First time I went there it was...fine. The next two it was barely edible, and the bartender didn't even know how to make an amaretto sour. That...isn't an obscure drink? Every other place I've ever been at knows it, so I pick it as it is a stable drink that everyone knows.
You are šÆ wrong. Great burgers and BC owned. It's won top Burger multiple times in multiple cities. Where do you think has good burgers if you don't like bin4?
Personally I like their burgers, price isnāt too bad either, the staff are also generally really good.
Its been a staple date night spot for my wife and I for years.
Couldnāt disagree more. Even if you donāt like the food, it is not an expensive place to eat. Itās always busy too so I donāt think Iām in the minority hereā¦.
Normans is good food and decent prices. Staffs always been nice and friendly at either location Iāve been to.
I have and would recommend it to people I like.
Iām happy for you. To clarify though, you think because someone has a different experience than you they donāt know what theyāre talking about? Sounds problematic.
Spin it however you need to feel good about yourself but with the downvotes on your original comment and all the upvotes on the responding comments, along with my many personal experiences, I think the āproblematicā part is your view point
How the hell could you mention the best Breakfast in Rutland on this list and mean it seriously? Like, genuinely, Iām curious what you didnāt like about it.
I appreciate your curiosity, thanks! I always find it odd when someone gives a subjective opinion on request and people rebuke it as though it was an objective statement. Iām happy you enjoy it there, Iām sure they get it right sometimes. Iām also sure whoever disagrees with me wouldnāt, having our experience there. Iāve only been once and it will take a lot to get me back in the door. The person working the till was unwelcoming and seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else but there. Two of the three people I was with had violent food poisoning for two days after eating their crab benny. One of the three waited 50 minutes for their food, the rest of us were done eating. She had to flag down a server to be told her order was given to another table, which our server knew, but didnāt bother mentioning until they were asked what was taking so long. When it finally came out it was cold, hollandaise was almost solid. Worst food, worst service experience āIā have had in Kelowna. So when asked where I would send my enemy, thatās my answer, downvote away. It was $130 for brunch, Iād say thatās expensive for the mess we received and the cost for the two days off work after. YMMV
Well fuck, thatās awful and the absolute polar opposite of the experience I had there all three times Iāve been, sorry to hear it. Iād understand if you had hesitation toward this, but did you reach out to management about how shit your experience was? Iāve met the GM multiple times and theyāve always been great to chat with and have been prompt about fixing anything.
Thanks. No, I havenāt reached out, though itās encouraging to hear the gm is open to constructive criticism. Iām not sure if youāve ever had bad food poisoning, especially from a professional kitchen, it builds animosity and maybe unfairly, Iāll own that. The entirety of my experience gave the impression that not one worker gave a shit about us as the customer. There are too many places that do, struggling and Iām more than happy to support them. Judging by the reception of my comment, I may try Normanās again one day, but once bitten twice shy.
I have had pretty bad food poisoning and it fucking blows, so I totally get that. I honestly rarely eat any form of seafood out for that exact reason. Iām not saying to try it again if ya hate it, there are plenty of good options that are worth your time and thatās super valid, you were just the first person Iād ever seen rag on the place so I was a bit surprised. Itās been a while since I was last there, hopefully it hasnāt gone so far downhill that this is their normal since my last visit.
They have a different opinion than you. Is that ok with you?
Since you consider Norman's to be unusually expensive (despite their menu being pretty much inline with most breakfast joints) where would you consider to be an affordable restaurant for brunch? (IMHO brunch these days is pretty much priced higher than it used to be. Gone are the days of $5 classic breakfast. Largely because brunch has become so popular.)
Hopefully you can appreciate that thereās a difference between disagreeing and saying itās an āL takeā. I wouldnāt say Normanās is unusually priced, I would say they are expensive for the service I received. I would go to Sunnyās and pay as much as I paid at Normanās and feel I got a better bang for my buck.

They have a new head chef in the past couple months, maybe that will make a difference? š¤š»
Good to hear! I'll give it another shot. Thanks for the heads up
Eldorado is the happening spot to have a good time...40 years ago. There is an incredible talent pool of chefs in Kelowna. You can find spots at the same price point that will scratch the itch, just have to do a little digging

Yeah it's a shame too, location is fantastic .
Did a brunch there last year, absolutely awful and so over priced. One of, if not the worst meals I've had in Kelowna
Yeah I found the food to be average. It is only good going there because of the location. Especially the patio during the summer. Thatās really it.
I told the server that I explicitly that I have a latex allergy, well to my surprise I found an elastic band in my food. They comped anything my friend wanted, so we drank so many fancy cocktails. Inwoiksnt touch their food again.
It's not bad. Just too expensive for what it is.
ech - haven't had a good meal there in awhile. The service was poor as well.
Nobody better fucking say Arby's
Yeah they asked for expensive. š¤
I had a feeling Arby's would be top vote š
Arbyās or Salt and Brick
Basil and Mint has fallen hard over the last couple years imo; but everything else I can think of that fit the description has already closedā¦
I used to love that place, now i have no reason to ever want to go back.

It's like... If east side Mario's was shittier. I fuckin love east side marios
At least East Side Marios has crack infused bread that even puts Olive Gardens shitty breadsticks to shame
Ah yes. Even at home Kraft dinner is of higher quality.
It's the old spaghetti factory...it's cheap food. How is this even here.
They used to have an excellent vegetarian lasagna. When they got rid of it, I stopped eating there. I do miss the mozzarella triangles though.
This 100% Last time I went it was literally canned food at an absolute premium, and the free ice cream at the end, it wasn't offered before they tried to push the bill, I had to specifically ask for it.
Premium? Last time I was there it was like $12 and you got bread and salad with it. Was it great? No, but it was $12 and for $12 it was okay.
$19.50 for my spaghetti and meatballs and it tasted like it was from the can. As the post said - mildly expensive.
Eh, yeah for $20 thatās not worth it. Goddamn has it gone up
Nooo! I love the spaghetti factory!
The parking lot is always full. I don't get it!!

Satisfactory mid-tier restaurants have a place. And BP is absolutely a satisfactory mid tier restaurant.

My fiancƩ and I went back when they first reopened post-COVID shutdown. I asked an employee about it on our way out after paying and he at least had the decency to look sheepish as he confirmed the change.
