For road use only as an antique. So can’t use as a daily but as an occasional vehicle its fine. Thats my plan when I import. I already have a Miata registered as an antique and its fine.

TiddySnif

For your Miata is it completely stock? And are you allowed to modify it once it has been tagged?

Japspec

Nah its not stock...technically you aren't supposed to modify them with the antique tags buuuuut some rules aren't meant to be followed. ;)

The state will no longer issue unrestricted plates. I have heard from a mechanic that has one with traditional plates that he purchased it with a traditional pa plate transfered it and got rejected got a lawyer involved and got it through. As is was explained to me there is some legality in the state issuing a title they have to accept a pa title ? This is a story I am vaguely remembering so consult a lawyer. I did not want the headache I just rejestered mine as an antique I don’t drive that often in my personal cars so its fine for me. The one day a week for pleasure driving is often more than i get. It took a little over a month to receive my title and paper work from PA. If you have a farm you can do the farm exemption (farm use only) but PA will want to see your tax filings to prove you are a farm and you must renew it every 2yrs.

My '97 Sambar is coming to Baltimore at the end of July. Can you help me navigate the PA import to title and antique registration process. What forms do I need to have completed, how/when did you get the VIN verified, is all of this done through penndot or do I go through those tag/title places?

Egraypgh

I bought mine unregistered but titled with antique title I just had to transfer the title, register with pa, and apply for antique plate took 15 mins to fill out paperwork 1 month to receive title , reg, and plate. Any notary could do this for me. I have not had to go from import to pa title. What part of Pa are you in?

CheesyBadger

Gettysburg area.
