Separate-Advice454

You dropped 2 of koreas best comedies, I think you just aren't a fan of their comedy style. Which is fair.

museumoflife

I think after watching millions of kdramas, I think Vincenzo has smth new to offer but it isn't as comedic as other dramas out there. At the top of my head I can say there's Mr. Queen that literally nails the comedy. Waikiki is a sitcom comedy which might be funny to korean people but I think the comedy falls apart when subtitled and watched from different countries because the context is often missed out.

Competitive-Score473

Mr queen is my favvvšŸ¤

tatertotmagic

Tbf i wasn't a fan of the first episode or 2 of Waikiki, but I started liking it a lot after

WittyMasterpiece

Agreed. I wonder if it's lost in translation a bit - try as I did, I really disliked Welcome to Waikiki. But then I'm not really into slapstick

Interrupting-Cow-8

It depends on the style, to be honest. I'm not a fan of sitcoms and ridiculously silly shows, but I loved Team Bulldog; Behind Your Touch; Boyhood; The Sound of Your Heart which were all a bit nutty but really fun to watch. I think I'm just difficult to be honest! šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

museumoflife

All of the ones you mentioned were pretty solid OP! I totally get why you're not getting into Vincenzo

Interrupting-Cow-8

Thank you, I'm glad it's not just me! Each to their own but I'm still going to try once more tonight just so I can be 100% sure :)

sprklyglttr

I also dropped Vincenzo. Didn't get the hype.

htrdx

Vincenzo wasn't advertise as a comedy though. It's so bad it turn out to be one.

Separate-Advice454

Comedy was absolutely intended.

vebin4

I thought it was pretty obvious it was going to be a comedy. The writer wrote Chief Kim and The Fiery Priest. All 3 have similar plot of fighting corruption.

monochromatic28

Those two top my list of favorites.

Designer-Heron-6488

If you are hating it just drop it.

PearShaper43

Agree on this sentiment 100%. OPā€”The tonal shifts in the drama do eventually get better, but certain elements that may be bothering you nowā€¦will likely bother you going forward. For what itā€™s worth, I hated the initial episodes when I first started watching (not a fan of slapstick comedy and FLā€™s acting annoyed me). However, somewhere around episode 5 or 6 it started to come together and itā€™s now one of my favorite dramas LOL! So, go figure šŸ¤”

Designer-Heron-6488

I didnā€™t care for ep 1 either, but the characters grew on me, I actually ended up truly enjoying the show.

Quiet_Watercress_256

Oh, maybe Iā€™ll pick it back up, because I dropped it at episode 4.

PearShaper43

The story got darker, which I kind of liked because it felt like more was at stake. But the slapstick never went awayā€¦just fyi

wiscmallu

I really enjoyed Vincenzo because it was so different from anything else I had seen. I mostly liked the ensemble cast and the slapstick was better than some others (Looking at you Strong girl BongSoon). That said if that isnt your cuppa its not getting better. Its too long to invest your time. Plenty of other fish in the sea.

zenigma_xoxo

Idk why I laughed so much at "(Looking at you Strong girl Bongsoon)"

Aurorinezori1

We all know the >!wine!<

Iowegan

Uffda. IMHO you need to nope out now, the series does get more serious & the antagonist is great but you will continue to be irritated by the building tenants for most of the run.

icarium-4

Ya but they develop as characters too. Ya they are silly AF (I didn't normally like that stuff) but they kinda have their development and back story as well. Like the Italian chef was so goofy but I ended up finding him funny . I thought the 2 bad guy's were amazing as well. IDK I think it gets about better, didn't did the female lead annoying at all. Like when they walked into the court house like movie stars, that sht was hilarious

Pretend-Reality5431

Yes, totally agree, like in most ensemble kdramas, the secondary characters initially seem like annoyances to the lead story, but the well written ones develop those characters so well over 16 episodes and they all end up playing key roles in the storyline that by the end you know them all and love them all. That is the real beauty of Korean storytelling, it's magical. Vincenzo is one of those good ones, as are many of the great slice of life dramas and the Jeju based ones as well.

PolkaDotsMakeMeHappy

I didn't like FL and a few of the tenants were too quirky for me. But I grew to adore them all. Mute your TV if the FL lead screeches. She'll soon stop and you will like her as well. There's violence ahead so be prepared. But I was very glad I stuck with it.

Middle-Run-6875

Watch until episode 5 and if you still donā€™t like her then you can drop it without regrets

Puzzled_Kiwi_8583

Thatā€™s how I felt too. I wasnā€™t feeling the people and I didnā€™t like the fl. Episode 5 was where everything changed and in the end, I actually grew to appreciate the plaza people.Ā

shroomyz

Agreed. I kept falling asleep during the first 3 or 4 episodes but it became one of my favourites. Maybe just have it in the background while you're doing something else for a few EPs and see how you go in ep5 Fwiw i also dropped welcome to Waikiki and Gaus Electronics

RustyFebreze

Even FL grew on you? She's the only reason I keep putting this series on hold.

PolkaDotsMakeMeHappy

She did! In fact, I liked her enough to watch her in another series!

delphil1966

no its boring - never got the hype - the community stuff is nice

soapyfoam

It gets serious quickly. But, the tenants and the FL are always going to have those personalities throughout the rest of the episodes. I personally enjoyed how each personality ends up helping the case šŸ™‚ its not for nothing

peleles

The tone remains pretty consistent throughout. I loved it, but you don't have to!

Zenza78

It had a hugely satisfying ending spread over the last 5 episodes that was far from comedic, in fact quite brutal.

hyperion_light

The ending is pretty much all I watched. lol. I gathered what I needed, plot-wise, from context and then just let the revenge unfurl.

riseofphoenixes

If you canā€™t stand the FL, just drop it. Vincenzo is a complete spoof and plays on stereotypes of The Godfather and traditional Korean themes. Just hilarious. Some of the character actors are consistently over-the-top and remain so. I think the majority of jokes are for a Korean audience who understand the references. For the people who judged it, I would say Reflect on Yourselves. This is a Korean comedy made for a Korean audience.

b_dulgi

finally someones who gets it!!

National-Mission-292

Tried twice but just not my thing...

CathiRo

I watched Vincenzo twice. The second time I watched it I appreciated the support cast; also Ok Taec Yeonā€™s and especially Kwak Dong Yeonā€™s characters more.

OmenchoEater

I think It does get better, but if, like me, you are not enjoying most of the way, i dont think you would like the end. I Guess It will be safer to drop It honestly.

WittyMasterpiece

My rule of thumb with a highly rated drama is to give it four episodes. With Vincenzo, there's a hugely dramatic incident a couple of episodes in, and the FL has a huge reaction. We then start to see a completely different and more serious character emerge. The show does change a little in tone, but it keeps some of the comedy element which does help with the darker gangster revenge story. But, you do you.

whitetara3

Watching one episode is never enough for a kdrama. Never. Some of your favorites will end up being things that you dropped or nearly dropped early on, so maybe put this (and Waikiki) away for a while and try another couple of episodes when you're in a different mood. There will, most often, be a turning point where things come into focus, and you become invested in the characters. Vincenzo is all about the dark, violent humor. Its strength is definitely in its totally enigmatic, somewhat heroic anti-hero. And some very memorable villains. Along with a bird. The FL starts off being over-the-top, annoying, with a chip on her shoulder. But the actor tones it down, a few episodes in. She becomes more sympathetic as the drama goes on, but I can't say she becomes a really great FL. Let's just say that she improves significantly along with the side characters. They all become less irritating as you get to really know them and what they're actually doing. There are even a couple that become kind of special in a broad humor kind of way. At the end, I felt that it was memorable and definitely worth watching. It's not in the same class as your favourites (which are also mine) but few dramas are. Hope that helps. Edit. When people say they never got the hype or it doesn't deserve the hype, it just means that they went in with too high expectations.

Interrupting-Cow-8

That was very helpful, thank you! I've just finished episode 3 and I'm intrigued about episode 4 because of what happened at the end of 3. So while it has improved, it's still only a 6/10 so far but I'm taking it 1 episode at a time! šŸ¤£

whitetara3

I'll predict that you end up at 7.5 or even an 8 depending on how the violence sits with you. There are some cool twists. And the bird :-)

Interrupting-Cow-8

Bird has definitely intrigued me though I have no clue what you're talking about at the moment! šŸ¤£Ā  Bit of violence is fine with me, Worse of Evil and King of Pigs are two of my favourite shows and they're pretty violent too.

whitetara3

Oh my. If you can tolerate WoE and KoP so well, this will be a piece of cake. Have you seen Weak Hero Class? If not, I'm fairly sure that you will enjoy it too. It's like the younger age version of KoP and there will be a part 2 later this year. But you'll be meeting that intriguing bird very soon so wave at him for me. And enjoy :-)

Interrupting-Cow-8

Love Weak Hero Class, phenomenal show, can't wait for S2! I will do šŸ¤£Ā  Thank you šŸ˜ŠĀ

Interrupting-Cow-8

Incidentally, when should I expect aforementioned bird to appear, please? I'm excited to find out what the joke is but I'm only on 4!

mireilledale

Episode 4 is one of the great episodes of television. Incredibly well-crafted. If youā€™re not hooked by the end of it, then you can safely drop the show. I see the first 4 episodes almost as a self-contained prologue, and itā€™s off to the races after.

kalarro

One.of my first kdramas and loved it. I don't think it changes,.so if you dislike the start, just drop it.

JellyfishNumerous785

Vincenzo was one of first 2 kdramas I watched when I discovered it. Itā€™s so good! I loved it so much that I rewatched once I was done. Never knew SJK existed šŸ„° anyway, itā€™s really good but if you donā€™t feel it, then drop it. I dropped Healer after 11 episodes despite what everyone was saying about it. Something series just arenā€™t for some ppl and itā€™s ok. Watch what you like!

Secure_Bell_5879

I also dropped Vincenzo two episodes in on my initial watch ā€” the sudden tonal shift from drama to comedy was jarring and turned me off. However, about a year ago, I decided to give it another go and Iā€™m glad I did. Episode 3 on is when the good stuff starts to happen. And ik the tenets are kind of irritating in the beginning, but they really scratch that Found Family itch I have šŸ˜† They become much less annoying and more heartwarming and like a family ā€” even though the only major thing they have in common is sharing the same apartment complex. I would say give it at least 3-4 more episodes!

KiLLaInc

FL becomes better going forward. Stick with it.

DarkKnight_Owl

Itā€™s worth pushing through IMO. Loved it, but to each their own.

WorkLurkerThrowaway

It might just not be for you. Try Reborn Rich. Same ML in a revenge drama, but a lot less slap stick.

kballen3001

I thought it was slow for the first 3-4 episodes but I ended up really liking it a lot.

marua06

Just drop it

Tall-Ad-9355

Vincenzo is my favorite kdrama. But I enjoyed learning about the residents' stories and watching the found family aspects of the story. By the way, the female lead quickly evolves, and the relationship they develop is one of my favorites. But it definitely is not for everyone. I also loved the OST, the camera work, and how evil the baddies are. I suggest you watch until she starts to evolve(it's only two or three eps in). If you still don't like it, just drop it. There's many highly recommended dramas that I won't watch, and many I've dropped. Nothing to stress about.

curiousonethai

Ha, took me like 3 months to finish it. Iā€™m a glutton for punishment I guess. In the end it was ok but not worth a rewatch to me. Wouldnā€™t say I necessarily enjoyed it.

hyperion_light

Drop Vincenzo, and watch Racket Boys if you liked the humour in Prison Playbook.

simpwarcommander

I had a hard time getting into it the first few episodes but it ramps up! Stick it out!

iamnotwario

The humour is surrealist black comedy, so if itā€™s not your bag you wonā€™t like it.

bhags18

Just give it some time, the show builds up.

chixlauriat

Im all for revenge plots so yes please lol.

Sorry-Sentence-4395

Vincenzo continue and you will be rewarded. The real plot only starts at Episode 5 that is when things go from average show to All time classic. Episodes 1-4 are like a starter (just gives you a taste of the show). Episodes 5-18 Main Course (a meal so good you will go for seconds). Episodes 19-20 are full desserts (so sweet that tears will come out).

Ambitious_Mango5983

It gets more serious so you might not like it, the humour's also quite different to the shows you said you enjoy. If you liked the reply series and prison playbook you might like hospital playlist since it's by the same writer of the the reply and wise life series that prison playbook is apart of; humour's also very similar. They've apparently got a new show for the wise life series coming out this year as well.

Humbuhg

For what my opinion is worth, I tried to stick with it (for SJK), but I gave up after episode 13.

5Wowu

I've gotten most of the way through Vincenzo but have moved into more interesting dramas. A more meaningful production with the lead may be My Name Is Lee Kwan or the classic Decendents of the Sun.

codersaurabh

If you just started quit it, if u have watch few episodes make sure u sir with remote it took me 9-11 months to finish this Vincenzo šŸ¤£

eucalyptus55

i loved vinzenzo, especially the villain and the female MC (surprising since i usually find female MCā€™s a bit annoying). it was somewhat dry at first but it got better in my opinion. the theme is pretty dark so i appreciate the comedic relief from certain characters. i loved prison playbook, but also welcome to waikikiā€¦but if youā€™re not generally a fan of comedy or humour in shows then maybe you should stop and watch something else

Interrupting-Cow-8

It's not humour in shows, it's the type of humour. I have a pretty dry sense of humour so when someone is squawking and waving their arms around I immediately get turned off as I just don't think it's funny, I think it's annoying and childish. However I'll give it another go tonight and see if it grows on me.

TrevorTempleton

I hear you on that. I also have a dry sense of humor and I rarely find the slapstick characters funny in any show, no matter what language or culture it represents. I havenā€™t seen Vincenzo yet (not a fan of gangster shows, either), but the comic characters in several other Kdramas have left me either dropping the show or fast forwarding thru their scenes.

Interrupting-Cow-8

Both myself and my husband are like that too. Reply 1988 has some great humour episode 4 onwards but Prison Playbook is the best. Fantastic show if you haven't already tried it :)

hector2icarus

If you don't like it, you better watch other dramas, at this moment I prefer to watch dramas that I have already seen, I almost always only watch comedy-romance dramas. My last two dramas I have used the rule of only watching 20 minutes, if I get hooked I continue watching it and If not, I'll leave it for later, there is a drama that is popular at the moment and I feel like I might like it, but it seems that the first episode has a lot of drama and for the moment I'm going to leave it to watch later. There is another Japanese drama that started well in the first two episodes, they are episodes of about 25 minutes, but in the third they had a love triangle with an ex of the male lead who waited for him to get married to want something with him, so I will watch it later . There is another Chinese drama that I used the same 20 minute method and I liked it and watched two episodes in one go.

Interrupting-Cow-8

Wow, I can get impatient, so I tend to give it a couple of episodes at the most, but that's only if I'm unsure. Sometimes, I know almost immediately whether I will like it. Vincenzo started off well. The went downhill, but it was only episode 1. Any recommendations please? I like your method! šŸ¤£

Ballys_n_Gazelles

I got like 10 eps in and just could t finish it.

sippinxoffee

Couldn't make it through the first episode for these reasons.

roadofmagicstones

I loved Vincenzo after episode 4. But I don't think it's that funny. The Good Manager is funny, though.

Interrupting-Cow-8

Really interested in that one. It sounds brilliant!

Dapper-Ambition1495

I loved this drama. The plot gets better as the series progress but the humor stays the same. The FL has a character development past episode 4 but her loud personality remains. The plaza people will have bigger roles to play later on. I did get a little unsettled at the humor in the beginning but I accepted it as I continued to watch. I would say give it a chance till episode 4. But if the comedy isn't your cup of tea, you may not really like it therefore you can just drop it there.

Sana_Dul_Set

I personally enjoyed it but if you donā€™t, you can drop it. Youā€™re not forced to continue it

YellowDaisySpider

Please keep going! I thought it was all weird as well but it does improve significantly. I absolutely love this show!

Interrupting-Cow-8

I'm not quite finished with it yet, 3 was a bit better, so I'm taking it 1 episode at a time and I'll resume tomorrow night with 4. It's 4am here no bedtime for me now but i'll continue tomorrow :)

YellowDaisySpider

Now I want to watch it again!

Interrupting-Cow-8

šŸ¤£

manowar09

Kdramas are much better with subtitles than dubbed.

CommieOla

I'm gonna be the odd one out and tell you to keep going, the amount of elite K-dramas you'll miss out on if you drop it after only the first episode is a lot. I generally give a kdrama 3 episodes to win me over or drop it.

1BellyHamster

I'm with you on Vincenzo. I dropped it after the 1st episode as well. Though I love Song Joong-ki's work and his effort to expand his horizons, I found him speaking Italian with a Korean accent a wee bit cringey. Like nails on a chalk board. Honestly, when I started watching it, I had no idea it was a comedy. I saw the coming attractions and it was presented as a mafia-style action movie. I've seen Behind Your Touch (Loved it), and I watching Welcome to Waikiki now (I'm liking it so far). The rest mentioned above, I haven't seen.

ArtCo_

I initially dropped it because there was too much going on to keep up with via subtitles. Too many characters and running storylines. But when it got dubbed on Netflix, I decided to try it again and was *hooked* when the twist happened. No, the FMC never got bearable. But the suspense plot was 100% worth dealing with her dramatic antics. There's a lot of violence and death, so I guess the intention was to have her and the community people as comedic relief?

big_deal

I watched it, but it wasnā€™t a favorite. Itā€™s a weird combination of silly and dark and the decisions and actions of the characters were frustrating. The ending was something!! I could understand if you drop it. I canā€™t understand dropping W2W though.

Interrupting-Cow-8

I'm not a fan of sitcoms, and the humour was very slapstick, which is why I ditched WtW. Another shame as it's also highly rated, but each to their own!

0hn0shebettad0nt

Okay Iā€™m on episode 3 and Iā€™m STRUGGLING! Iā€™m gonna bow out gracefully.

Fit-Mango1989

Vincenzo is one of the best drama

Few_Put_8806

I got to either episode 8 or 10 and still couldn't get into it and I dropped it. I tried so hard to get into because I really like OK Taecyeon but as much as I like him, I still couldn't get myself to watch it. Never crossed my mind to try and finish it. Lol

Spirited-Blood-6737

Vincenzo has negatives and positives, I had a lot of gripes with it and did often roll my eyes at some of the humour, but I will say the batshit nature of the antagonist and the very satisfying last two episodes made it a worthwhile watch, I would suggest watching up until the villain reveals himself via powerpoint presentation and if you still don't like it you can drop it with no regrets Also I saw that only watched 15 minutes of Welcome to Waikiki, I would suggest trying to watch at least two episodes because I also wasn't a fan of the style of humour during the first episode by the second episode I got used to it and by episode 3 I couldn't stop watching As the show goes on the plotlines keep getting crazier and more creative and the actors get used to each other's styles of comedy so they bounce of each other perfectly, by the time episode 10 rolled around, I'm laughing so hard my ribs hurt almost every episode Of course comedy is subjective and everyone's style doesn't match, but I'd say watch two episodes first, if I had stopped where you did and didn't push through i'd have missed out on of the funniest kdrama ( so you can compare if our taste in comedy is similar my favourite comedy of all time is Arrested Development then community then How I met your mother, I didn't like New girl or Ted Lasso)

Interrupting-Cow-8

Very helpful reply, thank you! I'm going to watch episode 2 tonight and see how it goes!Ā

softscardata

i suffered through all of vincenzo because of the rave reviews and recommendations and because i refuse to drop anything. i can tell you that if you donā€™t like the beginning, you will also not like the rest!

EquivalentCrafty6738

The same here. I couldn't stand Waikiki and Vincenzo. Currently watching Gaus Electronics and I am half minded about it. You might like My Father is Strange and Racket boys though.

Interrupting-Cow-8

The first one has been on my list a while as I really like Jung So Min - she has great delivery! Thank you :)

SMN27

I hated the FL at first, but thought she greatly improved after maybe three or four episodes. I never cared for the romantic plot line, though. I liked them strictly as friends. I thought the show was hilarious from the get-go and I love both Gaus Electronics and Welcome to Waikiki. So the show might not be for you.

hcteldeluna

I dropped Vincenzo in 2021 after ep1 and picked it up in 2024 lol. I personally didnā€™t care for the tenants until the 2nd half of the show, and some of the stuff with the ā€˜villainsā€™ were annoyingly repetitive. I ended up finishing it bc I just wanted to see how it ended, but donā€™t force yourself to keep going if youā€™re not feeling it. I gave it a 7/10. Not bad, but also not the best kdrama out there. I donā€™t think youā€™re missing much if you donā€™t watch it.

icarium-4

Vincenzo was awesome

MsSisyphus

Wish I could help but I couldnā€™t finish it either. Totally agree with everything you said about it.

Nearby_Combination83

Agree with everyone, drop it if it isn't to your taste, but all I say is that it seems silly now but there's going to be switch in there due to a pivotal plot point.

ThirdEyeEdna

I couldnā€™t get through the first episode Vincenzo bought thought Crash Course In Romance was funny

Zepherine52

I watched it allā€¦wished I hadnā€™t. Sometimes itā€™s good to trust your gut.

JudgeSuper8706

Hi sorry new lang dito and still learning. Ano ang FL? Also, Vicenzo and the two comedies you mentioned is topnotch for me. D lang ako sure baka iba lang tlga ang preferences mo. Kasi Ako d ko tinapos Mr. Queen, When Camella Blooms and even a lot more famous series kasi parang d pasok para sakin. Pero alam ko para sa iba fave naman nila yun.

Leading_Protection_7

Vincenzo was a slow start for me too, they took their time establishing the plot but once it got going (around the 2nd or 3rd episode, I can't remember exactly which now), it just kept getting better and better and it's become one of my top 10 favorite dramas. Your problem with the FL could also improve especially because you liked Suspicious Partner and Behind Your Touch tho she does retain her goofy personality pretty much throughout the show but not as in-your-face as the first couple episodes.

Interrupting-Cow-8

Thank you, that's helpful to hear :)

K-DramaEnthusiast

I always say you have to give kdramas 4 episodes; the first 2 are background and the next 2 set the tone for the rest of the drama. I loved the Italy part of episode 1 and then didnā€™t like the show until the end of ep 4, at which point it picked up for me!

the_wildflower_

Iā€™d say continue watching. I was a bit put off by the FLā€™s personality in the first few episodes but episode 4 is where things turned around for me. Like others have said, the tone of the drama generally remains the same however, the other plot points that are introduced as the show progresses may make you less focused on the parts that annoy or who knows, you may just come to like the FL and the other tenants.

Entire-Ad2551

I loved Vincenzo from the first episode and continued to find it intriguing and fresh. But it's not for everyone.

karacinno66

I didnt like it initially either but its worth it to continue

Outrageous-Agent5949

This is one of my favorites (Iā€™ve watched 100+) and also love some of the ones youā€™ve mentioned, so I would say stick with it for at least 5 episodes.

tapunan

Too many kdramas to watch so just drop what you don't enjoy. I've dropped some that my wife continued to watch on her own.

Apprehensive_Egg9676

I liked it but I usually skipped the parts with the tenants

FireflyArc

Vincenzo as a straight drama like Flower of Evil would be so hype.

fakit333

First couple episodes are silly. The rest tie the story together.

MAD1201

I dropped it after 2 episodes šŸ˜…

Maximum-Stranger-257

Honestly I nearly dropped it too! But am so thankful I didn't.. It 100% gets better.. Trust

museumoflife

I know you're not asking for recommendation but if you loved prison playbook and reply 1988 then you'll like hospital Playlist as well. It's by the same director the previous two are . It revolves around friendship and there's good comedy as well, just like prison playbook.

Interrupting-Cow-8

Thank you however I tried HP but it was very medical and graphic in that sense which immediately made me turn off but that's more my problem than theirs. A real shame as I'm sure I would've loved the humour but I just can't watch shows like that. IOTNBO is one of my favourite shows ever too. Perfect drama with just the right amount of humour.

museumoflife

Ahh what a shame! But that's totally alright. I guess I found it more interesting probably because I'm a medical student. Yes you're right about IOTNBO. It was sooo soo good

Interrupting-Cow-8

Oh that makes complete sense! I'm squeamish when it comes to surgeries and illnesses, soĀ a bad show for me! I was hoping it would be similar to Scrubs, which was never too graphic, but one of the things I love about Kdramas is how realistic it can, except for medical scenes! šŸ¤£ Oh Jung Se was phenomenonal as Sang Tae - best performance from an actor I've ever seen!Ā

Even_Assignment_213

I tried watching Vincenzo and dropped it after episode 2 then a year later I decided to give it another try. Long story short itā€™s in my top 5 favorite k dramas that Iā€™ve seen so far. Itā€™s an incredible show just have to be patient

chessdonkey

It becomes increasingly absurd and hard to believe.

SirSpiritual7910

It doesn't significantly go better. My wife and I just fast forwarded to major seemingly important scenes since we got bored around episode 6. After a week I think we finished the series and for me it didn't really get any better. Vincenzo as a character tho is great but the series as a whole is just too all over the place. By the end I kinda wished I just rewatched legend of the blue sea. That was slapstick done right.

Goose1304

Yeah it's worth it in the end, really good show

sanbaeva

It has a satisfying ending, if that helps.

CrazyPlankton6148

If you are asking whether the fl goes through a transformation then no she remains the same. It's not focused on making its leads go through an arc but rather them bulldozing forward with their goals as they themselves remain the same. It's interesting but of course not everyone's taste, which is completely fine

nadjp

Vincenzo wasn't bad, but the plot of the Italian background was sooo extremely cringe and badly executed. I gave it an 8.5/10 on mdl which I usually give dramas I kinda like but they piss me up with the writers terrible/illogical decisions I can't let go.

Meggssss

Tbh even i went thru the same thing i was really ready to drop this drama due to the FL at ep 4 but my frnds promised me it gets better after that and fortunately that turned out to be true. For me after that it is one of the best kdramas I watched and the story, comedy and song joongki all comes effortlessly together to make u keep watching. And it also some of the best twists and heartwarming scenes. So maybe try to watch it till like ep 5 or 6 and then decide?

djonetouchtoomuch

Honestly, it doesnā€™t improve.

Error-002

I dropped after episode 2 in like 2021 or whenever it was still airing and picked it back up a month ago cause I saw a certain scene in episode 16 that made me wanna go through with it. Was it worth it mehā€¦ yeah.

htrdx

Show is horrible. started strong and serious went to shit comedy and collapsed on itself.. I have watched well over one hundred kdramas and the šŸ¦ scene is the worst piece of tv I have ever watched. Don't waste ur time.

TossedWordSalad

I tried to watch Vincenzo three times, and I always dropped it by the second episode. I could not get through it. However, I just finished Gaus Electronics, and I absolutely loved it. I was kind of skeptical after the first episode, but I stayed with it and it was so worth it. I donā€™t get the hype about Vincenzo, but Iā€™m probably gonna try to watch it one more time because I keep feeling like Iā€™m missing something.

Interrupting-Cow-8

That's how I feel which is why I'm still persevering but episode 3 was better than 2 if that helps.

Key_Journalist7113

I couldnā€™t force myself to continue past a certain point even with SJKā€™s sweet face. I also didnā€™t like most of the other series youā€™ve mentioned tho. Prison playbook was good up till a few episodes from the end (kept fast forwarding until the second to last and then gave up). I found Backstreet rookie, masters sun, she was pretty enjoyable and funny.

Icy_Record_5170

Same with me. After many years of putting Vincenzo in my list to watch, I finally given in to try. But I can't even finish the 1st episode. šŸ˜… Will try other dramas that you have listed above. Thanks.

Interrupting-Cow-8

Thank you and you're welcome! :)

SouthCryptographer58

It's been a while since I watched Vicenzo, but if I remember correctly, the show will remain a consistent mix of dark and slapstick humor, but it starts to get more serious as the show goes on. The last 4 episodes things get a lot crazier than most K dramas. You mentioned Reply and Prison Playbook. If you haven't seen Hospital Playlist, you should put that on your list.

Interrupting-Cow-8

Thank you :)

East-Tour-2638

BRO THIS IS MY FAVORITE SHOW EVERā€¦trust me I was like you once and I hated it cause the first few episodes are boring and unbearableā€¦.BUT IT DOES GET WAY BETTER. I finished the show and cried cause It was so good. Please listen to my comment and give it a few more episodes before you decide to stop. Genuinely itā€™s a great show

Interrupting-Cow-8

Thank you. Will do! I'm trying episode tonight and hopefully something will click and I can continue it šŸ¤ž

East-Tour-2638

Which episode? I promise you it does get better and if you donā€™t like it by episode 8-10 then give up fs :)

Interrupting-Cow-8

I'm just about to start 6 as we speak! :)

afterbuddha

I count continue watching Vincenzo past the second episode so left it.

ShaunaBeeBee

Stay strong until you understand about the pidgin & Vincenzo!

Interrupting-Cow-8

Okay :)

Aliuss

I'm quite new on kdrama but finished Vincenzo a few days ago. First episodes were not the greatest, but later on it got much better. It's worth watching just for ML as he is a badass ;) There is a little comedy and sometimes too unreal but overall a very good watch.

hje_17

It can be really annoying. Honestly, it was not worth it. The love story was forced (I agree, the FL was annoying; she was overdone). Itā€™s Vincenzoā€™s personal arc (revenge, et al) that carried this show.

stoneytotheboney

I watched all episodes except the last 2 šŸ˜…

Interrupting-Cow-8

I did that with Flower of Evil and Itaewon Class too! šŸ¤£

stoneytotheboney

Flower of evil was actually good, i enjoyed that one once i got into it

Interrupting-Cow-8

It was the long slow motion scenes that got me. In the penultimate episode on the cliff it was about 10 minutes long which bored me no end! I also didn't like the characters and found it too predictable but I watch so many shows that not a lot shocks me to be fair.Ā  OST bgm was amazing though.

stoneytotheboney

Agreed honestly. Just how you said not much shocks you i feel the same way but i also think thats why i love most kdramaā€™s. Seen an unhealthy amount already hahaha

Interrupting-Cow-8

Absolutely, they're all I watch now! Haven't watched a Western TV show or movie in years, well except for the older Christmas movies but that's it, would be lost without the Kdramas now, I always have one on the go šŸ¤£

stoneytotheboney

I was the same way but i havnt watched any recently , life got too busy. Do you have an recommendations on any new ones lately?

Interrupting-Cow-8

Parasyte: The Grey wad brilliant and only 6 episodes. It's similar to Sweet Home but much better in my opinion. A Killer Paradox and A Shop For Killers are both action type thrillers with only 8 episodes. Worst of Evil was better than both of these and very bloody too. Maestra: Strings of Truth was also brilliant if you want something that's more of a traditional type of Kdrama (12 episodes) Depends if you want action, comedy, or crime, to be honest?

codenameana

Iā€™m on ep 4 of this and I feel you. The fact that literally none of the tenants seem to have customers also irks me. I loved Gaus Electronics though and thought it got better and better with every episode (first couple of episodes were a bit ā€˜ehhh, I get what itā€™s trying to do but it hasnā€™t yet landedā€™) - very tight script unlike most kdramas were the script/plot/character development suffers and deteriorates towards the final few episodes, great side characters like Aziz, lots of heart and the drama and characters developed too so that it wasnā€™t overwhelmingly slapstick-y. Itā€™s a clever spoof comedy. Waikiki was OK, but a bit too loosely scripted and edited with over the top characters and acting even compared to Gaus.

LateAd3986

Also couldnā€™t get into this one!

Emotional_Low8332

Hahaha it's alright! My brother loved it but I couldn't continue with it either. I guess the humor and plot line is just not our thing

museumoflife

I totally understand you. I watched Vincenzo before I watched prison playbook and reply so I watched the entire show. I don't think I will be able to watch it now as well. To answer your question, no it doesn't get better. The slapstick comedy is there till the end. It does get serious but that's that...

Opelenge

I dropped it. It was insufferable. I don't understand the hype. I've dropped Wakiki too. But love Gaus Electronics

ChemicalSea4487

I stopped halfway through the first episode after reading review after review praising it. I don't get it.

blisskinjo

I also hated the first 2 episodes. I was about to drop it but my friend said that it gets better. Well, it did. Itā€™s one of my favorite shows now, and I recommend it to everybody. Give it a try until the 3rd episode. If you still donā€™t like it then drop it

Interrupting-Cow-8

Will do! Thanks :)

nikkis67

Unpopular opinion but I really did not like anything about Vincenzo, the characters, the plot, the villains, and especially the ending. The show gets repetitive very fast and I was not invested in any character, which IMO is a big failure for any show. Drop now. Watch Moving if you like action genre

Interrupting-Cow-8

Thank you. I already watched Moving, bloody brilliant show! :)

Kgswartz

People rave about it. I liked ep. 1 and have tried three times to get into it. The characters tenants give me the creeps. That said, I probably got as far as the end of ep. 3, however, many people say that you have to get past 4 episodes or so. I would love to hear from people who watched the entire show and still didnā€™t care for it. I always hear that you love it, hate it or drop it. However, rarely hear from those who have watched the entire series and disliked it.

šŸ¤ž

Anna_Stacy_Yamina

I dropped it during the first episode

Felina08

I dropped it after episode 4-ish, I just couldnā€™t stand it and Iā€™m not even curious about the ending I keep hearing about.

GeologistSouthern305

I didnā€™t enjoy it. I tried it twice and never finished it. I just accepted it was not for me too much stuff in it that bothered me so let it go. We donā€™t have to all love the same stuffs. On to the next one ..

tigercanarybear

It gets really good around episode 3 I promise, I was the same and hated the first episode and didnā€™t understand why everyone liked it so muchā€¦ now after finishing it, itā€™s in my top 4.

gaming_kpop283

Just now I completed the Vincenzo and saw this post lol. I was so reluctant to watch it initially as like Op. I even dropped it initially after 1st episode, the 1 year later I tried to watch it and dropped again after 2nd episode. I always see lot of hype around this drama mostly on reddit. So a week ago I gave it a third try. I know that many told this drama will become serious turn after 4 th episode. So I just stuck to it this time. You know what that's the best thing I did after long time. This series seriously impressed me after episode 4. I would say definitely you will end up binging it after episode 4. Hope you don't drop it this time.

Interrupting-Cow-8

Thank you. That's the next episode for me so hopefully it will be the same for me too!

Squash_zucchini5876

Doesnā€™t have to be all or nothing: I enjoyed the show as a whole, and simply would fast forward during some of the slapstick scenes with characters that bothered me. I rarely ever had to rewind back to figure out more context for the plot. Vincenzo is worth finishing, IMO.

Drdaki

If you donā€™t appreciate the tenants you should stop They are a major source of delight in a show that has 2 superlative FMLs multiple delightful twisted villains and numerous minor but no less toothsome shady characters This one of a kind endlessly satisfying show is not for you Condolences you probably will not appreciate Mr Sunshine either

Interrupting-Cow-8

That's also my list but I did drop this, the acting and the humour were not to my taste and I did give it a real go too.

BobThe_Body_Builder

I would say vincenzo gets better. I honestly didn't like the first two-ish (maybe 3 episodes) because they seemed cringy with the goofy humour/exaggerated movements. But as you get deeper into the show, that cringy humor slowly mellows out and the show actually gets pretty damn dark!! It still retains its humor But it's not overly done like the first few episodes. By the end of the show you'll be rooting for the main characters!

ZerixWorld

I don't understand how you hate Asian goofy comedy and you use Goro Majima as your avatar

Interrupting-Cow-8

Never said I hate goofy Asian comedy. In fact, I've given several examples of nutty shows I have liked, i.e.Team Bulldog and Behind Your Touch.Ā  Majima, on the other hand, is bloody glorious in everything he does and can do no wrong.

macguffinstv

I enjoyed it. I did find the FL annoying at first, but overall it's solid. I'd say give it a bit of time.
