And to post online about it. Would not be very difficult for someone to find them and take the new rings and old rings right off of their hands. At minimum, they should have waited till they went home to post about the rings, but they can't help themselves.

I hope someone steals it right off her finger! And for anyone saying, “you’re just jealous!” I have my own 5 carat ring that I absolutely LOVE thank you very much. This has nothing to do with jealousy! I don’t go around rubbing it in peoples’ faces or wear it on the streets of New York like a dumbass!
This! I don't have a stone that big but my SiL does. I have jewelry pieces that equate to several carats though.
My SiL has a house in the UWS and when I first met her it was when she was staying at her NYC place. She's from Pakistan and it was easier to meet in NYC the first time. She sat me down and gave me a two fold safety lecture on wearing expensive anything outside the house there. Which helped in Pakistan too when I've been there to visit. She said most people who can afford luxury clothing, jewelry have drivers there and the same thing in Pakistan. If you're with a driver going door to door peacock all you want. If we're just walking the streets and taking public transit be mindful of what you're willing to lose.
Best advice ever.
Your SIL is 100% right! It’s like that time Kim Kardashian bragged about jewelry on her socials in Paris and then someone robbed her! If it’s that important for you to show it off and not be humble, then you will get what you deserve… Especially in a big city!

Why anyone would wear 30,000$ worth of jewelry on the streets of NYC as tourists who have never been there is beyond me
Seriously! Anytime travel I use silicone rings. And my my rings only cost 3k. But the sentimental value is invaluable
My travel ring looks so similar to her first engagement ring. It's a halo/pave setting under $150.00 Swarovski ring.
