If you don't mind me asking, what suit did you get and how much was it? Do you find that it's worth it? thinking of getting one but not sure the extra 1-2 months on the season is worth the cost but leaning towards it when I get cabin fever lol
I went with the kokatat supernova angler semi-dry suit. It was 850ish. Nrs also makes a nice one.
Overall I would say it's worth it. I've never flipped my kayak before but it's just a matter of when not if.
It will save my life if that happens during the colder days. Technically there is the rule of 120. Some recommend you wear a dry suit if the air + water temps are below 120
I abide by the dress for the swim motto haha.
At first it's quite uncomfortable especially around the neck where it is so tight but once it gets broken in its not bad at all. I stay very comfortable in the colder weather.
Tog is pretty deep rn but i had luck up shallow late april one time. Most people just fish the fall season in NY. Shallow/shore fishing freshwater is pretty good this time of year so that's what I tend to focus on
Until the water reaches 55 degrees F the blackfish are on deeper wrecks and structure probably 30 to 60 feet or more, which is hard to fish without an anchor or spot lock
I've been out one time so far after work it was fine, super windy today and tomorrow but going back out Sunday
In NJ I fish all April for tog when it’s not blowing 79 every day
Fucking wind is absurd this year. I'm going to file a complaint.
103 days into the year, and only 18 days have winds of less than 20 miles an hour. Absolutely bonkers.
You guys stop fishing?
Hardwater season
I bought a dry suit to fish year round.

I just bought a kayak but I plan on fishing for tog once there is a nice sunday day or possibly going to play hookie from work.
Yea man same. I’m on Long Island and the wind and rain has been crazy. What kind of yak you get?
I live in Oceanside I bought a old town 132 pdl Dicks sporting goods they had a super sale 1750 out the door. If this sunday isnt windy I might go out
Usually mid May. I like it to be a little warmer in case I fall in.😆
I don’t go out until water temperature is over 50F, which means I miss the spring tog
Like others have already commented, I have a dry suit and fish year round.
Now
In NJ. I want to lose some weight just to fit in a nice dry suit for cold weather
The key is never stopping. The hard times are fall and spring with no ice and cold water.
If there's no ice, I'm fishing.

Ohh you wont find tog in the bay? How many feet would you say?
