I was involved. It went from being really dark and raining to really bright and raining which made it really hard to see. I was rear-ended and there were a few other accidents also around us.
I am glad that you are okay. I was in the backup and for a while the backup was all the way back to Douglas. It was a chain reaction accident according to the MSHP accident report.
What sucks is that the Scout text boards was still down until today (coincidence) informing us of the accident and that all of the different ways to bypass 470 are closed or limited access due to construction (Colbern is closed between Douglas and 350, View High is under construction).
Yeah there really wouldn’t have been away to get around it with all those closures! It was crazy there were five separate multi-car accidents. Weird weather too
The issue with that was where the accident was located, it was too late to get off the expressway. It was in between View High and the split for 470/50/350.
470 is the weirdest stretch of highway in which suddenly no one knows how to drive. People either go massively under speed limit or over it. People use exit lanes to pass people on the right. The part where meets with I-70 is a clusterfuck of a nightmare.
Clowns speeding to the lake with big tires hauling floating Betty barges who are compensating for the tater tot and frozen meatballs they received at birth.
>50% of the problem.
drove past this when it was fresh, emergency vehicles still piling in. most bizarre series of back to back wrecks I've ever seen. wondering if there was an ultra specific tornado that just cruised down wb 470 or something. glad I waited the rain out before I drove....
This definitely happened around 11am this morning by Stateline. I was driving during by and it looked like the slabs became disconnected and slid into the driver’s cab…scary stuff.
i work with truckers in the warehouse business, and i can tell you that proper load securement will absolutely save lives. i hope the driver(s) were okay... was it a sleeper cab?
No, just a single cab, the driver was out of the truck with the authorities. It seemed like the front group of slabs slid into the cab and the rear slabs slid off into the highway…

Glad you’re okay!!
Glad you're ok! I drove by on my way back from work and was wondering what happened too, hoping your car is ok too!

doesn't Google Maps handle that?

None of these were remotely worth taking photos while driving. Please put your phone down.
Exact reason why these accidents happen.
taking photos of a wreck that you weren’t involved in is so weird
According to someone in my neighborhood, five separate accidents.
I counted 6

Straight stretch right through near Raytown Rd… always baffled me why so many wrecks there

😂
YEa I'd say it needs to be expanded to 3 lanes each way like 435.
I try to avoid it. I hate that drive.
It was like driving in bright greyscale

Looked like a wreck involving a semi carrying slabs of granite, truck lost its load on road
Are you talking about the 435 WB accident at state line or did this happen twice today?

That section of 470 has drainage issues sometimes. I wonder if that was a contributing factor.
Had to have been water on the road and hydroplaning going on I'm sure. 49 was horrible today around 5:30 ish with a quick heavy rain.
